1And in the fulfilling (latin-conplerentur-finished) of the day of Pentecost, they were all together at (upon) the same place. 2And there came suddenly a sound (noise, greek-echos, latin-sonus) from out of heaven, like as of a rushing violent (forcible) wind, and it filled the whole house where they were sitting. 3And there appeared to them dividing (distributing, latin-disperitae like disperse) tongues (glossai) like as of fire, and it sat down upon each one of them. 4And they were all filled (filled to capacity, supplied, furnished, latin-repleti-filled like replete) with the Holy Spirit, and began (commenced) to speak with other tongues (glossais), just as the Spirit was giving to them to utter out (to utter/speak away from-apo).

5Now there were Jews residing in (into) Jerusalem, devout (godly, pious) men from every ethnicity of those under heaven. 6And this sound (voice) having come about, the multitude (great number) came together and was confounded (latin-confusa-confused) because each one heard them speaking in his own language (dialekto). 7And they were astonished (flabbergasted, stupefied, latin-stupebant-amazed) and marveled, saying, Behold, are not all these who are speaking, Galileans? 8And how do we each hear our own language (dialekto) in which we were born? 9Parthians (country between Caspian Sea and the Persian Gulf), and Medes (region of Asia), and Elamites (those living north of Persian Gulf in the southern part of Persia); and those residing in Mesopotamia (area between Tigris and Euphrates Rivers), Judea, and also Cappadocia (Roman province in the central eastern part of Asia Minor), Pontius (Roman province north of Asia Minor bordering the Black Sea) and Asia (Roman province that is roughly the western third of Asia Minor); 10Phrygia (area in Asia Minor between Asia and Galatia) and Pamphylia (Roman province on south coast of Asia Minor), Egypt (land of the Nile) and the parts of Libya (west bank of the Nile) that are around Cyrene (Mediterranean coastal district/city west of Egypt), and those visiting (sojourning) from Rome; Jews and proselytes (proselytoi, a non-Jew who has been circumcised and has adopted the Judaism), 11Cretans (inhabitant of the island of Crete) and Arabians (Arabs), we hear them speaking in our own tongues (glossais), the great things of God? 12And all were astonished and were totally perplexed, saying other to the other, What wishes (wants, wills) this to be? 13And others mocking said, They are full of sweet new wine (gleukous- root greek word glukus means fresh/ sweet, latin-musto- Latin vinum mustum was young wine that is freshly pressed fruit juice and the must was the solid portion or pomace, the must was used to make red wine).

14However, Peter having stood up with the eleven, lifted up his voice and spoke forth to them, Judean men and all those residing in Jerusalem, let this be known to you, and listen (take into your ear) to my sayings (rhemata): 15For these are not drunkards (methyousin, latin-ebrii) as you suppose (assume), for it is the third hour of the day; 16But rather this is that having been spoken through the prophet Joel,

17And it will be in the last days, says God, I will pour out from (away from) My Spirit upon all flesh; and your sons and your daughters will prophesy, and your young men (latin-iuvenes like juveniles) will see visions (latin-visiones) and your elders (presbyteroi) will dream dreams (en-hypnos);

18And even upon My male servants (doulous, bond-slaves), and upon My female servants (doulas, female bond-slaves), in those days, I will pour out My Spirit, and they will prophesy;

19And I will give wonders in heaven above, and signs upon the earth below, blood and fire and vapor (steam, latin-vaporem-vapor root is steam) of smoke.

20The sun will be turned (changed) into darkness, and the moon into blood, before the coming of the great and epiphanious (visibly/gloriously apparent, illustrious, greek-epiphane, latin-manifestus) day of the Lord.

21And it will be that everyone who shall call upon (latin-invocaverit-calls root is invoke) the name of the Lord will be saved.

22Men, Israelites, hear these words: Jesus of Nazareth, a man having been exhibited (showed from, demonstrated) from God unto you by miracles (powers) and wonders and signs, which God did through Him in the midst of you, just as you yourselves know. 23Him, by the determinate plan (resolved plan) and foreknowledge of God, [was] given over (delivered up, given up, surrendered) through lawless hands, you put [Him] to death having crucified (fastened) [Him to a cross]. 24Whom God raised up, having loosed (released, dissolved) the agony (birth pangs, pains) of death, because it was not possible for Him to be held by (under) it.

25For David says unto Him, I foresaw the Lord continually in my sight, because He is from out of my right hand/side, so that I should not be shaken.

26Because of this my heart was glad (cheered) and my tongue rejoiced greatly (exulted, celebrated), and yet my flesh also will dwell (encamp, tabernacle) upon hope,

27Because You will not abandon my soul unto Hades, nor will You give (offer) Your Holy One to see decay.

28You have made known to me the ways of life; You will fill me with joy with Your face (countenance, presence, latin-facie-face).

29Men, brothers, it is permitted (lawful, possible) to speak with boldness (confidence, freedom) to you, concerning the patriarch David, that he died and was buried and his tomb is among (in) us until this day. 30Therefore being a prophet and knowing that God swore to him with an oath, that from out of the fruit of his lions (reproductive area, latin-lumbi-loins), to sit down upon his throne. 31Having foreseen, he spoke concerning the resurrection of the Christ, that neither was He abandoned unto Hades, nor did His flesh see decay. 32This Jesus God has raised up, in which we are all witnesses. 33Therefore having been exalted to the right hand/side of God, and having received from the Father the promise of the Holy Spirit, He has poured out this which you are seeing and hearing.

34For David has not ascended into the heavens, however he himself says, The Lord said to my Lord, Sit at (from out of) My right hand/side.

35Until I place (put, set) Your enemies, a footstool of Your feet. 36Assuredly, therefore let all the house of Israel know that God has made Him both Lord and Christ, this Jesus whom you crucified.

37Now having heard this, they were pierced to the heart, and said to Peter and the rest of the apostles, Men, brothers, what shall we do? 38And Peter says (produces an epiphany) to them, Repent (think/understand differently after) and be baptized, everyone of you upon the name of Jesus Christ unto the remission (pardon, send away, releasing of obligation) of your sins and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. 39For the promise is to you and to your children and to all those at (unto) a distance, as many as the Lord our God shall call to. 40And with many other words, he thoroughly testified and entreated them, saying, Be saved away from this crooked (warped, twisted, bent, dried out, perverse) generation. 41Then those having welcomingly received (gladly accepted, welcomed) his word were baptized; and about three thousand souls were added on that day.

42And they were steadfastly continuing in the teaching of the apostles, and in fellowship, the breaking of the bread, and the prayers.

43And there came fear (awe) on every soul, and many wonders and signs happened through the apostles. 44And all having believed were upon the same [place] and having all things in common (koina, shared); 45And they were selling properties (latin-possessiones-possessions) and possessions (latin-substantias-substances) and were dividing them to all, according as anyone had necessity. 46Steadfastly continuing with the same passion day by day in the temple, breaking bread from house to house, they partook of food with exuberant joy and simplicity (not of stony ground, unencumbered, smoothness, latin-simplicitate-simplicity) of heart, 47Praising God and having favor (grace) with all the people. And the Lord added upon their number day by day those who were being saved.
