 | 1Give thanks to the LORD, call on his name, and make his deeds known among the people. | 1O give thanks unto the LORD; call upon his name: make known his deeds among the people. |
| 2Sing to him! Praise him! Declare all his awesome deeds! | 2Sing unto him, sing psalms unto him: talk ye of all his wondrous works. |
| 3Exult in his holy name; let all those who seek the LORD rejoice! | 3Glory ye in his holy name: let the heart of them rejoice that seek the LORD. |
| 4Seek the LORD and his strength; seek his face continually. | 4Seek the LORD, and his strength: seek his face evermore. |
| 5Remember his awesome deeds that he has done, his wonders and the judgments he declared. | 5Remember his marvellous works that he hath done; his wonders, and the judgments of his mouth; |
| 6You descendants of Abraham, his servant, You children of Jacob, his chosen ones. | 6O ye seed of Abraham his servant, ye children of Jacob his chosen. |
| 7He is the LORD our God; his judgments extend to the entire earth. | 7He is the LORD our God: his judgments are in all the earth. |
| 8He remembers his eternal covenant— every promise he made for a thousand generations, | 8He hath remembered his covenant for ever, the word which he commanded to a thousand generations. |
| 9like the covenant he made with Abraham, and his promise to Isaac. | 9Which covenant he made with Abraham, and his oath unto Isaac; |
| 10He presented it to Jacob as a decree, to Israel as an everlasting covenant. | 10And confirmed the same unto Jacob for a law, and to Israel for an everlasting covenant: |
| 11He said: "I will give Canaan to you as the allotted portion that is your inheritance." | 11Saying, Unto thee will I give the land of Canaan, the lot of your inheritance: |
| 12When the Hebrews were few in number—so very few— and were sojourners in it, | 12When they were but a few men in number; yea, very few, and strangers in it. |
| 13they wandered from nation to nation, from one kingdom to another. | 13When they went from one nation to another, from one kingdom to another people; |
| 14He did not allow anyone to oppress them, or any kings to reprove them. | 14He suffered no man to do them wrong: yea, he reproved kings for their sakes; |
| 15"Don't touch my anointed or hurt my prophets!" | 15Saying, Touch not mine anointed, and do my prophets no harm. |
| 16He declared a famine on the land; destroying the entire food supply. | 16Moreover he called for a famine upon the land: he brake the whole staff of bread. |
| 17He sent a man before them— Joseph, who had been sold as a slave. | 17He sent a man before them, even Joseph, who was sold for a servant: |
| 18They bound his feet with fetters and placed an iron collar on his neck, | 18Whose feet they hurt with fetters: he was laid in iron: |
| 19until the time his prediction came true, as the word of the LORD refined him. | 19Until the time that his word came: the word of the LORD tried him. |
| 20He sent a king who released him, a ruler of people who set him free. | 20The king sent and loosed him; even the ruler of the people, and let him go free. |
| 21He made him the master over his household, the manager of all his possessions— | 21He made him lord of his house, and ruler of all his substance: |
| 22to discipline his rulers at will and make his elders wise. | 22To bind his princes at his pleasure; and teach his senators wisdom. |
| 23Then Israel came to Egypt; indeed, Jacob lived in the land of Ham. | 23Israel also came into Egypt; and Jacob sojourned in the land of Ham. |
| 24He caused his people to multiply greatly; and be more numerous than their enemies. | 24And he increased his people greatly; and made them stronger than their enemies. |
| 25He caused them to hate his people and to deceive his servants. | 25He turned their heart to hate his people, to deal subtilly with his servants. |
| 26He sent his servant Moses, along with Aaron, whom he had chosen. | 26He sent Moses his servant; and Aaron whom he had chosen. |
| 27They performed his signs among them, his wonders in the land of Ham. | 27They shewed his signs among them, and wonders in the land of Ham. |
| 28He sent darkness, and it became dark. Did they not rebel against his words? | 28He sent darkness, and made it dark; and they rebelled not against his word. |
| 29He turned their water into blood, so that the fish died. | 29He turned their waters into blood, and slew their fish. |
| 30Their land swarmed with frogs even to the chambers of their kings. | 30Their land brought forth frogs in abundance, in the chambers of their kings. |
| 31He spoke, and a swarm of insects invaded their land. | 31He spake, and there came divers sorts of flies, and lice in all their coasts. |
| 32He sent hail instead of rain, and lightning throughout their land. | 32He gave them hail for rain, and flaming fire in their land. |
| 33It destroyed their vines and their figs, breaking trees throughout their country. | 33He smote their vines also and their fig trees; and brake the trees of their coasts. |
| 34Then he commanded the locust to come— grasshoppers without number. | 34He spake, and the locusts came, and caterpillers, and that without number, |
| 35They consumed every green plant in their land, and devoured the fruit of their soil. | 35And did eat up all the herbs in their land, and devoured the fruit of their ground. |
| 36He struck down every firstborn in their land, the first fruits of all their progeny. | 36He smote also all the firstborn in their land, the chief of all their strength. |
| 37Then he brought Israel out with silver and gold, and no one among his tribes stumbled. | 37He brought them forth also with silver and gold: and there was not one feeble person among their tribes. |
| 38The Egyptians rejoiced when they left, because fear of Israel descended on them. | 38Egypt was glad when they departed: for the fear of them fell upon them. |
| 39He spread out a cloud for a cover, and fire for light at night. | 39He spread a cloud for a covering; and fire to give light in the night. |
| 40Israel asked, and quail came; food from heaven satisfied them. | 40The people asked, and he brought quails, and satisfied them with the bread of heaven. |
| 41He opened a rock, and water gushed out flowing like a river in the desert. | 41He opened the rock, and the waters gushed out; they ran in the dry places like a river. |
| 42Indeed, he remembered his sacred promise to his servant Abraham. | 42For he remembered his holy promise, and Abraham his servant. |
| 43He led his people out with gladness, his chosen ones with shouts of joy. | 43And he brought forth his people with joy, and his chosen with gladness: |
| 44He gave to them the land of nations; they inherited the labor of other people | 44And gave them the lands of the heathen: and they inherited the labour of the people; |
| 45so they might keep his statutes and observe his laws. Hallelujah! | 45That they might observe his statutes, and keep his laws. Praise ye the LORD. |
