International Standard VersionNET Bible
"Don't let your hearts be troubled. Believe in God, believe also in me. 1"Do not let your hearts be distressed. You believe in God; believe also in me.
There are many rooms in my Father's house. If there weren't, I wouldn't have told you that I am going away to prepare a place for you, would I? 2There are many dwelling places in my Father's house. Otherwise, I would have told you, because I am going away to make ready a place for you.
And since I'm going away to prepare a place for you, I'll come back again and welcome you into my presence, so that you may be where I am. 3And if I go and make ready a place for you, I will come again and take you to be with me, so that where I am you may be too.
You know where I am going, and you know the way."4And you know the way where I am going."
Thomas asked him, "Lord, we don't know where you are going, so how can we know the way?"5Thomas said, "Lord, we don't know where you are going. How can we know the way?"
Jesus told him, "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. 6Jesus replied, "I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.
If you have known me, you will also know my Father. From now on you know him and have seen him."7If you have known me, you will know my Father too. And from now on you do know him and have seen him."
Philip told him, "Lord, show us the Father, and that will satisfy us."8Philip said, "Lord, show us the Father, and we will be content."
"Have I been with you all this time, Philip, and you still do not know me?" Jesus asked him. "The person who has seen me has seen the Father. So how can you say, 'Show us the Father'? 9Jesus replied, "Have I been with you for so long, and you have not known me, Philip? The person who has seen me has seen the Father! How can you say, 'Show us the Father'?
You believe, don't you, that I am in the Father and the Father is in me? The words that I say to you I don't speak on my own. It is the Father who dwells in me and who carries out his work. 10Do you not believe that I am in the Father, and the Father is in me? The words that I say to you, I do not speak on my own initiative, but the Father residing in me performs his miraculous deeds.
Believe me, I am in the Father and the Father is in me. Otherwise, believe me because of what I've been doing.11Believe me that I am in the Father, and the Father is in me, but if you do not believe me, believe because of the miraculous deeds themselves.
Truly, I tell all of you emphatically, the one who believes in me will also do what I'm doing. He will do even greater things than these, because I'm going to the Father. 12I tell you the solemn truth, the person who believes in me will perform the miraculous deeds that I am doing, and will perform greater deeds than these, because I am going to the Father.
I'll do whatever you ask in my name, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son. 13And I will do whatever you ask in my name, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son.
If you ask me for anything in my name, I will do it."14If you ask me anything in my name, I will do it.
"If you love me, keep my commandments. 15"If you love me, you will obey my commandments.
I will ask the Father to give you another Helper, to be with you always. 16Then I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Advocate to be with you forever--
He is the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees him nor recognizes him. But you recognize him, because he lives with you and will be in you. 17the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot accept, because it does not see him or know him. But you know him, because he resides with you and will be in you.
I'm not going to forsake you like orphans. I will come back to you.18"I will not abandon you as orphans, I will come to you.
"In a little while the world will no longer see me, but you will see me. Because I live, you will live also. 19In a little while the world will not see me any longer, but you will see me; because I live, you will live too.
At that time, you'll know that I am in my Father, that you are in me, and that I am in you. 20You will know at that time that I am in my Father and you are in me and I am in you.
The person who has my commandments and keeps them is the one who loves me. The one who loves me will be loved by my Father, and I, too, will love him and reveal myself to him."21The person who has my commandments and obeys them is the one who loves me. The one who loves me will be loved by my Father, and I will love him and will reveal myself to him."
Judas (not Iscariot) asked him, "Lord, how is it that you are going to reveal yourself to us and not to the world?"22"Lord," Judas (not Judas Iscariot) said, "what has happened that you are going to reveal yourself to us and not to the world?"
Jesus answered him, "If anyone loves me, he will keep my word. Then my Father will love him, and we will go to him and make our home within him. 23Jesus replied, "If anyone loves me, he will obey my word, and my Father will love him, and we will come to him and take up residence with him.
The one who doesn't love me doesn't keep my words. The words that you're hearing me say are not mine, but come from the Father who sent me.24The person who does not love me does not obey my words. And the word you hear is not mine, but the Father's who sent me.
"I have told you this while I am still with you. 25"I have spoken these things while staying with you.
But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and remind you of everything that I have told you. 26But the Advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you everything, and will cause you to remember everything I said to you.
I'm leaving you at peace. I'm giving you my own peace. I'm not giving it to you as the world gives. So don't let your hearts be troubled, and don't be afraid. 27"Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you; I do not give it to you as the world does. Do not let your hearts be distressed or lacking in courage.
You have heard me tell you, 'I'm going away, but I'm coming back to you.' If you loved me, you would rejoice that I'm going to the Father, because the Father is greater than I am. 28You heard me say to you, 'I am going away and I am coming back to you.' If you loved me, you would be glad that I am going to the Father, because the Father is greater than I am.
I've told you this now, before I leave, so that when I do leave, you will believe. 29I have told you now before it happens, so that when it happens you may believe.
I won't talk with you much longer, because the ruler of this world is coming. He has no power over me.30I will not speak with you much longer, for the ruler of this world is coming. He has no power over me,
But I'm doing what the Father has commanded me, to let the world know that I love the Father. Get up! Let us leave this place."31but I am doing just what the Father commanded me, so that the world may know that I love the Father. Get up, let us go from here."
