1Early in the morning the chief priests with the elders and scribes and the whole Council, immediately held a consultation; and binding Jesus, they led Him away and delivered Him to Pilate. | 1And as soon as it was morning, the chief priests held a consultation with the elders and scribes and the whole council. And they bound Jesus and led him away and delivered him over to Pilate. |
2Pilate questioned Him, "Are You the King of the Jews?" And He answered him, "It is as you say." | 2And Pilate asked him, “Are you the King of the Jews?” And he answered him, “You have said so.” |
3The chief priests began to accuse Him harshly. | 3And the chief priests accused him of many things. |

32"Let this Christ, the King of Israel, now come down from the cross, so that we may see and believe!" 33When the sixth hour came, darkness fell over the whole land until the ninth hour. | 33And when the sixth hour had come, there was darkness over the whole land until the ninth hour. |
34At the ninth hour Jesus cried out with a loud voice, "ELOI, ELOI, LAMA SABACHTHANI?" which is translated, "MY GOD, MY GOD, WHY HAVE YOU FORSAKEN ME?" | 34And at the ninth hour Jesus cried with a loud voice, “Eloi, Eloi, lema sabachthani?” which means, “My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?” |
35When some of the bystanders heard it, they began saying, "Behold, He is calling for Elijah." | 35And some of the bystanders hearing it said, “Behold, he is calling Elijah.” |
