The Bronze Altar and Molten Sea

He made a bronze altar

Solomon provided a large altar for the temple courtyard, where Israel’s burnt offerings and other sacrifices were presented before the Lord. Made of bronze, it was built for continual public use and reflected the permanence and strength of temple worship.

2Ch 7:7 Then Solomon consecrated the middle of the courtyard…

Num 16:38-39 As for the censers of those who sinned…

twenty cubits long, twenty cubits wide,

Measuring about thirty feet on each side, the altar was far larger than the tabernacle altar and could accommodate the many sacrifices offered during temple services and national assemblies. Its square design conveyed order and stability in the worship God prescribed.

Completion of the Bronze Works

Additionally, Huram made the pots, shovels, and sprinkling bowls.

Huram, also called Hiram, was a master bronze worker from Tyre who supplied the temple with vessels needed for its daily service. The pots were used in preparing sacrificial meat, the shovels removed ashes from the altar, and the bowls served in handling blood and other offerings.
