Answer Me When I Call!

לַמְנַצֵּ֥חַ (For the one directing) בִּנְגִינ֗וֹת (with stringed instruments), מִזְמ֥וֹר (a Psalm) לְדָוִֽד׃ (of David).

1בְּקָרְאִ֡י (In my calling out) עֲנֵ֤נִי׀ (may You answer me),

אֱלֹ֘הֵ֤י (O God) צִדְקִ֗י (of my righteousness)!

בַּ֭צָּר (In my distress) הִרְחַ֣בְתָּ (You widened it) לִּ֑י (for me);

חָ֝נֵּ֗נִי (show me favor) וּשְׁמַ֥ע (and hear) תְּפִלָּתִֽי׃ (my prayer).

2  בְּנֵ֥י (O sons) אִ֡ישׁ (of men), עַד־ (until) מֶ֬ה (when) כְבוֹדִ֣י (my glory) לִ֭כְלִמָּה (be shame)?

תֶּאֱהָב֣וּן (Will you⁺ love) רִ֑יק (vanity) תְּבַקְשׁ֖וּ (and seek after) כָזָ֣ב (falsehood)?

סֶֽלָה׃ (Selah)

3  וּדְע֗וּ (and know) כִּֽי־ (that) הִפְלָ֣ה (has marked out) יְ֭הוָה (YHWH) חָסִ֣יד (the faithful one) ל֑וֹ (for Himself);

יְהוָ֥ה (YHWH) יִ֝שְׁמַ֗ע (hears) בְּקָרְאִ֥י (in my calling) אֵלָֽיו׃ (to Him).

4  רִגְז֗וּ (Tremble) וְֽאַל־ (and not) תֶּ֫חֱטָ֥אוּ (do sin);

אִמְר֣וּ (Speak) בִ֭לְבַבְכֶם (in your⁺ heart) עַֽל־ (on) מִשְׁכַּבְכֶ֗ם (your⁺ bed), וְדֹ֣מּוּ (and be silent).

סֶֽלָה׃ (Selah)

5  זִבְח֥וּ (Sacrifice) זִבְחֵי־ (the sacrifices) צֶ֑דֶק (of righteousness)

וּ֝בִטְח֗וּ (and trust) אֶל־ (in) יְהוָֽה׃ (YHWH).

6  רַבִּ֥ים (Many) אֹמְרִים֮ (are saying), מִֽי־ (Who) יַרְאֵ֪נ֫וּ (will show us) ט֥וֹב (good)?

נְֽסָה־ (Lift) עָ֭לֵינוּ (upon us) א֨וֹר (the light) פָּנֶ֬יךָ (of Your face) יְהוָֽה׃ (O YHWH),

7  נָתַ֣תָּה (You have put) שִׂמְחָ֣ה (joy) בְלִבִּ֑י (in my heart),

מֵעֵ֬ת (more than the time when) דְּגָנָ֖ם (their grain) וְתִֽירוֹשָׁ֣ם (and their new wine) רָֽבּוּ׃ (have increased).

8  בְּשָׁל֣וֹם (In peace) יַחְדָּו֮ (both) אֶשְׁכְּבָ֪ה (will I lie down) וְאִ֫ישָׁ֥ן (and will sleep),

כִּֽי־ (for) אַתָּ֣ה (You), יְהוָ֣ה (O YHWH), לְבָדָ֑ד (alone) לָ֝בֶ֗טַח (in safety) תּוֹשִׁיבֵֽנִי׃ (cause me to dwell).
