Romans 10
NASB Parallel NIV [BSB CSB ESV HCS KJV ISV NAS NET NIV NLT GRK]
New American Standard Bible 1995New International Version
Brethren, my heart's desire and my prayer to God for them is for their salvation.1Brothers and sisters, my heart's desire and prayer to God for the Israelites is that they may be saved.
For I testify about them that they have a zeal for God, but not in accordance with knowledge.2For I can testify about them that they are zealous for God, but their zeal is not based on knowledge.
For not knowing about God's righteousness and seeking to establish their own, they did not subject themselves to the righteousness of God.3Since they did not know the righteousness of God and sought to establish their own, they did not submit to God's righteousness.
For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to everyone who believes.4Christ is the culmination of the law so that there may be righteousness for everyone who believes.
For Moses writes that the man who practices the righteousness which is based on law shall live by that righteousness.5Moses writes this about the righteousness that is by the law: "The person who does these things will live by them."
But the righteousness based on faith speaks as follows: "DO NOT SAY IN YOUR HEART, 'WHO WILL ASCEND INTO HEAVEN?' (that is, to bring Christ down),6But the righteousness that is by faith says: "Do not say in your heart, 'Who will ascend into heaven?'" (that is, to bring Christ down)
or 'WHO WILL DESCEND INTO THE ABYSS?' (that is, to bring Christ up from the dead)."7"or 'Who will descend into the deep?'" (that is, to bring Christ up from the dead).
But what does it say? "THE WORD IS NEAR YOU, IN YOUR MOUTH AND IN YOUR HEART "-- that is, the word of faith which we are preaching,8But what does it say? "The word is near you; it is in your mouth and in your heart," that is, the message concerning faith that we proclaim:
that if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved;9If you declare with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.
for with the heart a person believes, resulting in righteousness, and with the mouth he confesses, resulting in salvation.10For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved.
For the Scripture says, "WHOEVER BELIEVES IN HIM WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED."11As Scripture says, "Anyone who believes in him will never be put to shame."
For there is no distinction between Jew and Greek; for the same Lord is Lord of all, abounding in riches for all who call on Him;12For there is no difference between Jew and Gentile--the same Lord is Lord of all and richly blesses all who call on him,
for "WHOEVER WILL CALL ON THE NAME OF THE LORD WILL BE SAVED."13for, "Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved."
How then will they call on Him in whom they have not believed? How will they believe in Him whom they have not heard? And how will they hear without a preacher?14How, then, can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them?
How will they preach unless they are sent? Just as it is written, "HOW BEAUTIFUL ARE THE FEET OF THOSE WHO BRING GOOD NEWS OF GOOD THINGS!"15And how can anyone preach unless they are sent? As it is written: "How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news!"
However, they did not all heed the good news; for Isaiah says, "LORD, WHO HAS BELIEVED OUR REPORT?"16But not all the Israelites accepted the good news. For Isaiah says, "Lord, who has believed our message?"
So faith comes from hearing, and hearing by the word of Christ.17Consequently, faith comes from hearing the message, and the message is heard through the word about Christ.
But I say, surely they have never heard, have they? Indeed they have; "THEIR VOICE HAS GONE OUT INTO ALL THE EARTH, AND THEIR WORDS TO THE ENDS OF THE WORLD."18But I ask: Did they not hear? Of course they did: "Their voice has gone out into all the earth, their words to the ends of the world."
But I say, surely Israel did not know, did they? First Moses says, "I WILL MAKE YOU JEALOUS BY THAT WHICH IS NOT A NATION, BY A NATION WITHOUT UNDERSTANDING WILL I ANGER YOU."19Again I ask: Did Israel not understand? First, Moses says, "I will make you envious by those who are not a nation; I will make you angry by a nation that has no understanding."
And Isaiah is very bold and says, "I WAS FOUND BY THOSE WHO DID NOT SEEK ME, I BECAME MANIFEST TO THOSE WHO DID NOT ASK FOR ME."20And Isaiah boldly says, "I was found by those who did not seek me; I revealed myself to those who did not ask for me."
But as for Israel He says, "ALL THE DAY LONG I HAVE STRETCHED OUT MY HANDS TO A DISOBEDIENT AND OBSTINATE PEOPLE."21But concerning Israel he says, "All day long I have held out my hands to a disobedient and obstinate people."
