(Mark 15:1-5)

NIVESVNASBKJVHCSB
1Early in the morning, all the chief priests and the elders of the people made their plans how to have Jesus executed.1When morning came, all the chief priests and the elders of the people took counsel against Jesus to put him to death.1Now when morning came, all the chief priests and the elders of the people conferred together against Jesus to put Him to death;1When the morning was come, all the chief priests and elders of the people took counsel against Jesus to put him to death:1When daybreak came, all the chief priests and the elders of the people plotted against Jesus to put Him to death.
2So they bound him, led him away and handed him over to Pilate the governor.2And they bound him and led him away and delivered him over to Pilate the governor.2and they bound Him, and led Him away and delivered Him to Pilate the governor.2And when they had bound him, they led him away, and delivered him to Pontius Pilate the governor.2After tying Him up, they led Him away and handed Him over to Pilate, the governor.

Judas Hangs Himself

(Zechariah 11:10-17; Matthew 26:14-16; Mark 14:10-11)

NIVESVNASBKJVHCSB
3When Judas, who had betrayed him, saw that Jesus was condemned, he was seized with remorse and returned the thirty pieces of silver to the chief priests and the elders.3Then when Judas, his betrayer, saw that Jesus was condemned, he changed his mind and brought back the thirty pieces of silver to the chief priests and the elders,3Then when Judas, who had betrayed Him, saw that He had been condemned, he felt remorse and returned the thirty pieces of silver to the chief priests and elders,3Then Judas, which had betrayed him, when he saw that he was condemned, repented himself, and brought again the thirty pieces of silver to the chief priests and elders,3Then Judas, His betrayer, seeing that He had been condemned, was full of remorse and returned the 30 pieces of silver to the chief priests and elders."
4"I have sinned," he said, "for I have betrayed innocent blood." "What is that to us?" they replied. "That's your responsibility."4saying, “I have sinned by betraying innocent blood.” They said, “What is that to us? See to it yourself.”4saying, "I have sinned by betraying innocent blood." But they said, "What is that to us? See to that yourself!"4Saying, I have sinned in that I have betrayed the innocent blood. And they said, What is that to us? see thou to that.4I have sinned by betraying innocent blood," he said." What's that to us?" they said. "See to it yourself!"
5So Judas threw the money into the temple and left. Then he went away and hanged himself.5And throwing down the pieces of silver into the temple, he departed, and he went and hanged himself.5And he threw the pieces of silver into the temple sanctuary and departed; and he went away and hanged himself.5And he cast down the pieces of silver in the temple, and departed, and went and hanged himself.5So he threw the silver into the sanctuary and departed. Then he went and hanged himself.
6The chief priests picked up the coins and said, "It is against the law to put this into the treasury, since it is blood money."6But the chief priests, taking the pieces of silver, said, “It is not lawful to put them into the treasury, since it is blood money.”6The chief priests took the pieces of silver and said, "It is not lawful to put them into the temple treasury, since it is the price of blood."6And the chief priests took the silver pieces, and said, It is not lawful for to put them into the treasury, because it is the price of blood.6The chief priests took the silver and said, "It's not lawful to put it into the temple treasury, since it is blood money."

7So they decided to use the money to buy the potter's field as a burial place for foreigners.7So they took counsel and bought with them the potter’s field as a burial place for strangers.7And they conferred together and with the money bought the Potter's Field as a burial place for strangers.7And they took counsel, and bought with them the potter's field, to bury strangers in.7So they conferred together and bought the potter's field with it as a burial place for foreigners.
8That is why it has been called the Field of Blood to this day.8Therefore that field has been called the Field of Blood to this day.8For this reason that field has been called the Field of Blood to this day.8Wherefore that field was called, The field of blood, unto this day.8Therefore that field has been called "Blood Field" to this day.
9Then what was spoken by Jeremiah the prophet was fulfilled: "They took the thirty pieces of silver, the price set on him by the people of Israel,9Then was fulfilled what had been spoken by the prophet Jeremiah, saying, “And they took the thirty pieces of silver, the price of him on whom a price had been set by some of the sons of Israel,9Then that which was spoken through Jeremiah the prophet was fulfilled: "AND THEY TOOK THE THIRTY PIECES OF SILVER, THE PRICE OF THE ONE WHOSE PRICE HAD BEEN SET by the sons of Israel;9Then was fulfilled that which was spoken by Jeremy the prophet, saying, And they took the thirty pieces of silver, the price of him that was valued, whom they of the children of Israel did value;9Then what was spoken through the prophet Jeremiah was fulfilled: They took the 30 pieces of silver, the price of Him whose price was set by the Israelites,
10and they used them to buy the potter's field, as the Lord commanded me."10and they gave them for the potter’s field, as the Lord directed me.”10AND THEY GAVE THEM FOR THE POTTER'S FIELD, AS THE LORD DIRECTED ME."10And gave them for the potter's field, as the Lord appointed me.10and they gave them for the potter's field, as the Lord directed me.

Jesus Before Pilate

(Luke 23:1-6; John 18:28-40)

NIVESVNASBKJVHCSB
11Meanwhile Jesus stood before the governor, and the governor asked him, "Are you the king of the Jews?" "You have said so," Jesus replied.11Now Jesus stood before the governor, and the governor asked him, “Are you the King of the Jews?” Jesus said, “You have said so.”11Now Jesus stood before the governor, and the governor questioned Him, saying, "Are You the King of the Jews?" And Jesus said to him, "It is as you say."11And Jesus stood before the governor: and the governor asked him, saying, Art thou the King of the Jews? And Jesus said unto him, Thou sayest.11Now Jesus stood before the governor. "Are You the King of the Jews?" the governor asked Him. Jesus answered, "You have said it."
12When he was accused by the chief priests and the elders, he gave no answer.12But when he was accused by the chief priests and elders, he gave no answer.12And while He was being accused by the chief priests and elders, He did not answer.12And when he was accused of the chief priests and elders, he answered nothing.12And while He was being accused by the chief priests and elders, He didn't answer.
13Then Pilate asked him, "Don't you hear the testimony they are bringing against you?"13Then Pilate said to him, “Do you not hear how many things they testify against you?”13Then Pilate said to Him, "Do You not hear how many things they testify against You?"13Then said Pilate unto him, Hearest thou not how many things they witness against thee?13Then Pilate said to Him, "Don't You hear how much they are testifying against You?"
14But Jesus made no reply, not even to a single charge--to the great amazement of the governor.14But he gave him no answer, not even to a single charge, so that the governor was greatly amazed.14And He did not answer him with regard to even a single charge, so the governor was quite amazed.14And he answered him to never a word; insomuch that the governor marvelled greatly.14But He didn't answer him on even one charge, so that the governor was greatly amazed.

The Crowd Chooses Barabbas

(Mark 15:6-11; Luke 23:13-25)

NIVESVNASBKJVHCSB
15Now it was the governor's custom at the festival to release a prisoner chosen by the crowd.15Now at the feast the governor was accustomed to release for the crowd any one prisoner whom they wanted.15Now at the feast the governor was accustomed to release for the people any one prisoner whom they wanted.15Now at that feast the governor was wont to release unto the people a prisoner, whom they would.15At the festival the governor's custom was to release to the crowd a prisoner they wanted.
16At that time they had a well-known prisoner whose name was Jesus Barabbas.16And they had then a notorious prisoner called Barabbas.16At that time they were holding a notorious prisoner, called Barabbas.16And they had then a notable prisoner, called Barabbas.16At that time they had a notorious prisoner called Barabbas.
17So when the crowd had gathered, Pilate asked them, "Which one do you want me to release to you: Jesus Barabbas, or Jesus who is called the Messiah?"17So when they had gathered, Pilate said to them, “Whom do you want me to release for you: Barabbas, or Jesus who is called Christ?”17So when the people gathered together, Pilate said to them, "Whom do you want me to release for you? Barabbas, or Jesus who is called Christ?"17Therefore when they were gathered together, Pilate said unto them, Whom will ye that I release unto you? Barabbas, or Jesus which is called Christ?17So when they had gathered together, Pilate said to them, "Who is it you want me to release for you--Barabbas, or Jesus who is called Messiah?"
18For he knew it was out of self-interest that they had handed Jesus over to him.18For he knew that it was out of envy that they had delivered him up.18For he knew that because of envy they had handed Him over.18For he knew that for envy they had delivered him.18For he knew they had handed Him over because of envy.

19While Pilate was sitting on the judge's seat, his wife sent him this message: "Don't have anything to do with that innocent man, for I have suffered a great deal today in a dream because of him."19Besides, while he was sitting on the judgment seat, his wife sent word to him, “Have nothing to do with that righteous man, for I have suffered much because of him today in a dream.”19While he was sitting on the judgment seat, his wife sent him a message, saying, "Have nothing to do with that righteous Man; for last night I suffered greatly in a dream because of Him."19When he was set down on the judgment seat, his wife sent unto him, saying, Have thou nothing to do with that just man: for I have suffered many things this day in a dream because of him.19While he was sitting on the judge's bench, his wife sent word to him, "Have nothing to do with that righteous man, for today I've suffered terribly in a dream because of Him!"
20But the chief priests and the elders persuaded the crowd to ask for Barabbas and to have Jesus executed.20Now the chief priests and the elders persuaded the crowd to ask for Barabbas and destroy Jesus.20But the chief priests and the elders persuaded the crowds to ask for Barabbas and to put Jesus to death.20But the chief priests and elders persuaded the multitude that they should ask Barabbas, and destroy Jesus.20The chief priests and the elders, however, persuaded the crowds to ask for Barabbas and to execute Jesus.
21"Which of the two do you want me to release to you?" asked the governor. "Barabbas," they answered.21The governor again said to them, “Which of the two do you want me to release for you?” And they said, “Barabbas.”21But the governor said to them, "Which of the two do you want me to release for you?" And they said, "Barabbas."21The governor answered and said unto them, Whether of the twain will ye that I release unto you? They said, Barabbas.21The governor asked them, "Which of the two do you want me to release for you?"" Barabbas!" they answered.
22"What shall I do, then, with Jesus who is called the Messiah?" Pilate asked. They all answered, "Crucify him!"22Pilate said to them, “Then what shall I do with Jesus who is called Christ?” They all said, “Let him be crucified!”22Pilate said to them, "Then what shall I do with Jesus who is called Christ?" They all said, "Crucify Him!"22Pilate saith unto them, What shall I do then with Jesus which is called Christ? They all say unto him, Let him be crucified.22Pilate asked them, "What should I do then with Jesus, who is called Messiah?" They all answered, "Crucify Him!"
23"Why? What crime has he committed?" asked Pilate. But they shouted all the louder, "Crucify him!"23And he said, “Why? What evil has he done?” But they shouted all the more, “Let him be crucified!”23And he said, "Why, what evil has He done?" But they kept shouting all the more, saying, "Crucify Him!"23And the governor said, Why, what evil hath he done? But they cried out the more, saying, Let him be crucified.23Then he said, "Why? What has He done wrong?" But they kept shouting, "Crucify Him!" all the more.

Pilate Washes his Hands

(Mark 15:12-15)

NIVESVNASBKJVHCSB
24When Pilate saw that he was getting nowhere, but that instead an uproar was starting, he took water and washed his hands in front of the crowd. "I am innocent of this man's blood," he said. "It is your responsibility!"24So when Pilate saw that he was gaining nothing, but rather that a riot was beginning, he took water and washed his hands before the crowd, saying, “I am innocent of this man’s blood; see to it yourselves.”24When Pilate saw that he was accomplishing nothing, but rather that a riot was starting, he took water and washed his hands in front of the crowd, saying, "I am innocent of this Man's blood; see to that yourselves."24When Pilate saw that he could prevail nothing, but that rather a tumult was made, he took water, and washed his hands before the multitude, saying, I am innocent of the blood of this just person: see ye to it.24When Pilate saw that he was getting nowhere, but that a riot was starting instead, he took some water, washed his hands in front of the crowd, and said, "I am innocent of this man's blood. See to it yourselves!"
25All the people answered, "His blood is on us and on our children!"25And all the people answered, “His blood be on us and on our children!”25And all the people said, "His blood shall be on us and on our children!"25Then answered all the people, and said, His blood be on us, and on our children.25All the people answered, "His blood be on us and on our children!"
26Then he released Barabbas to them. But he had Jesus flogged, and handed him over to be crucified.26Then he released for them Barabbas, and having scourged Jesus, delivered him to be crucified.26Then he released Barabbas for them; but after having Jesus scourged, he handed Him over to be crucified.26Then released he Barabbas unto them: and when he had scourged Jesus, he delivered him to be crucified.26Then he released Barabbas to them. But after having Jesus flogged, he handed Him over to be crucified.

29and then twisted together a crown of thorns and set it on his head. They put a staff in his right hand. Then they knelt in front of him and mocked him. "Hail, king of the Jews!" they said.29and twisting together a crown of thorns, they put it on his head and put a reed in his right hand. And kneeling before him, they mocked him, saying, “Hail, King of the Jews!”29And after twisting together a crown of thorns, they put it on His head, and a reed in His right hand; and they knelt down before Him and mocked Him, saying, "Hail, King of the Jews!"29And when they had platted a crown of thorns, they put it upon his head, and a reed in his right hand: and they bowed the knee before him, and mocked him, saying, Hail, King of the Jews!29They twisted together a crown of thorns, put it on His head, and placed a reed in His right hand. And they knelt down before Him and mocked Him: "Hail, King of the Jews!"
30They spit on him, and took the staff and struck him on the head again and again.30And they spit on him and took the reed and struck him on the head.30They spat on Him, and took the reed and began to beat Him on the head.30And they spit upon him, and took the reed, and smote him on the head.30Then they spit on Him, took the reed, and kept hitting Him on the head.
31After they had mocked him, they took off the robe and put his own clothes on him. Then they led him away to crucify him.31And when they had mocked him, they stripped him of the robe and put his own clothes on him and led him away to crucify him.31After they had mocked Him, they took the scarlet robe off Him and put His own garments back on Him, and led Him away to crucify Him.31And after that they had mocked him, they took the robe off from him, and put his own raiment on him, and led him away to crucify him.31When they had mocked Him, they stripped Him of the robe, put His clothes on Him, and led Him away to crucify Him.

The Guard at the Tomb

NIVESVNASBKJVHCSB
62The next day, the one after Preparation Day, the chief priests and the Pharisees went to Pilate.62The next day, that is, after the day of Preparation, the chief priests and the Pharisees gathered before Pilate62Now on the next day, the day after the preparation, the chief priests and the Pharisees gathered together with Pilate,62Now the next day, that followed the day of the preparation, the chief priests and Pharisees came together unto Pilate,62The next day, which followed the preparation day, the chief priests and the Pharisees gathered before Pilate
63"Sir," they said, "we remember that while he was still alive that deceiver said, 'After three days I will rise again.'63and said, “Sir, we remember how that impostor said, while he was still alive, ‘After three days I will rise.’63and said, "Sir, we remember that when He was still alive that deceiver said, 'After three days I am to rise again.'63Saying, Sir, we remember that that deceiver said, while he was yet alive, After three days I will rise again.63and said, "Sir, we remember that while this deceiver was still alive He said, After three days I will rise again.'
64So give the order for the tomb to be made secure until the third day. Otherwise, his disciples may come and steal the body and tell the people that he has been raised from the dead. This last deception will be worse than the first."64Therefore order the tomb to be made secure until the third day, lest his disciples go and steal him away and tell the people, ‘He has risen from the dead,’ and the last fraud will be worse than the first.”64"Therefore, give orders for the grave to be made secure until the third day, otherwise His disciples may come and steal Him away and say to the people, 'He has risen from the dead,' and the last deception will be worse than the first."64Command therefore that the sepulchre be made sure until the third day, lest his disciples come by night, and steal him away, and say unto the people, He is risen from the dead: so the last error shall be worse than the first.64Therefore give orders that the tomb be made secure until the third day. Otherwise, His disciples may come, steal Him, and tell the people, 'He has been raised from the dead.' Then the last deception will be worse than the first.""
65"Take a guard," Pilate answered. "Go, make the tomb as secure as you know how."65Pilate said to them, “You have a guard of soldiers. Go, make it as secure as you can.”65Pilate said to them, "You have a guard; go, make it as secure as you know how."65Pilate said unto them, Ye have a watch: go your way, make it as sure as ye can.65You have a guard of soldiers," Pilate told them. "Go and make it as secure as you know how."
66So they went and made the tomb secure by putting a seal on the stone and posting the guard.66So they went and made the tomb secure by sealing the stone and setting a guard.66And they went and made the grave secure, and along with the guard they set a seal on the stone.66So they went, and made the sepulchre sure, sealing the stone, and setting a watch.66Then they went and made the tomb secure by sealing the stone and setting the guard.
