For instance, the balm of Gilead, a resinous substance derived from a plant, was renowned for its healing properties and is mentioned in Jeremiah 8:22 : "Is there no balm in Gilead? Is there no physician there? Why then has the health of the daughter of my people not been restored?"

The mountainous regions of the biblical lands, such as Lebanon and Gilead, were known for their unique flora, which included a variety of herbs and spices. These areas were often associated with beauty and abundance, as seen in Hosea 14:5-6 : "I will be like the dew to Israel; he will blossom like the lily and take root like the cedars of Lebanon. His shoots will sprout, and his splendor will be like the olive tree, his fragrance like the cedars of Lebanon."

In summary, the Bible portrays mountains as places of natural abundance, where herbs and other plants flourish. These herbs serve as symbols of God's provision and the beauty of His creation, reflecting the richness and diversity of the natural world that He has made.
