The Descendants of David
(2 Samuel 3:1–5)

1  וְאֵ֤לֶּה (And these) הָיוּ֙ (were) בְּנֵ֣י (the sons) דָויִ֔ד (of David) אֲשֶׁ֥ר (who) נֽוֹלַד־ (were born) ל֖וֹ (to him) בְּחֶבְר֑וֹן (in Hebron):

הַבְּכ֣וֹר׀ (The firstborn) אַמְנֹ֗ן (Amnon) לַאֲחִינֹ֙עַם֙ (by Ahinoam) הַיִּזְרְעֵאלִ֔ית (the Jezreelitess);

שֵׁנִי֙ (the second) דָּנִיֵּ֔אל (Daniel) לַאֲבִיגַ֖יִל (by Abigail) הַֽכַּרְמְלִֽית׃ (the Carmelitess);

2  הַשְּׁלִשִׁי֙ (the third) לְאַבְשָׁל֣וֹם (Absalom) בֶּֽן־ (son) מַעֲכָ֔ה (of Maacah) בַּת־ (the daughter) תַּלְמַ֖י (of Talmai) מֶ֣לֶךְ (king) גְּשׁ֑וּר (of Geshur);

הָרְבִיעִ֖י (the fourth) אֲדֹנִיָּ֥ה (Adonijah) בֶן־ (son) חַגִּֽית׃ (of Haggith);

3  הַחֲמִישִׁ֥י (the fifth) שְׁפַטְיָ֖ה (Shephatiah) לַאֲבִיטָ֑ל (by Abital);

הַשִּׁשִּׁ֥י (the sixth) יִתְרְעָ֖ם (Ithream) לְעֶגְלָ֥ה (by Eglah) אִשְׁתּֽוֹ׃ (his wife).

4  שִׁשָּׁה֙ (Six) נֽוֹלַד־ (were born) ל֣וֹ (to him) בְחֶבְר֔וֹן (in Hebron), וַיִּ֨מְלָךְ־ (and he reigned) שָׁ֔ם (there) שֶׁ֥בַע (seven) שָׁנִ֖ים (years) וְשִׁשָּׁ֣ה (and six) חֳדָשִׁ֑ים (months).

וּשְׁלֹשִׁ֤ים (And thirty) וְשָׁלוֹשׁ֙ (and three) שָׁנָ֔ה (years) מָלַ֖ךְ (he reigned) בִּירוּשָׁלִָֽם׃ס (in Jerusalem). 5  וְאֵ֥לֶּה (And these) נוּלְּדוּ־ (were born) ל֖וֹ (to him) בִּירוּשָׁלָ֑יִם (in Jerusalem):

שִׁ֠מְעָא (Shimea), וְשׁוֹבָ֞ב (and Shobab), וְנָתָ֤ן (and Nathan), וּשְׁלֹמֹה֙ (and Solomon)— אַרְבָּעָ֔ה (four) לְבַת־ (by Bath-) שׁ֖וּעַ (shua) בַּת־ (daughter) עַמִּיאֵֽל׃ (of Ammiel);

6  וְיִבְחָ֥ר (and Ibhar), וֶאֱלִישָׁמָ֖ע (and Elishama), וֶאֱלִיפָֽלֶט׃ (and Eliphelet), 7  וְנֹ֥גַהּ (and Nogah), וְנֶ֖פֶג (and Nepheg), וְיָפִֽיעַ׃ (and Japhia), 8  וֶאֱלִישָׁמָ֧ע (and Elishama), וְאֶלְיָדָ֛ע (and Eliada), וֶאֱלִיפֶ֖לֶט (and Eliphelet)— תִּשְׁעָֽה׃ (nine).

9  כֹּ֖ל (All were) בְּנֵ֣י (the sons) דָוִ֑יד (of David), מִלְּבַ֥ד (besides) בְּֽנֵי־ (the sons) פִֽילַגְשִׁ֖ים (of the concubines), וְתָמָ֥ר (and Tamar) אֲחוֹתָֽם׃פ (their sister).

The Descendants of Solomon

10  וּבֶן־ (And the son) שְׁלֹמֹ֖ה (of Solomon) רְחַבְעָ֑ם (was Rehoboam):

אֲבִיָּ֥ה (Abijah) בְנ֛וֹ (his son), אָסָ֥א (Asa) בְנ֖וֹ (his son), יְהוֹשָׁפָ֥ט (Jehoshaphat) בְּנֽוֹ׃ (his son), 11  יוֹרָ֥ם (Joram) בְּנ֛וֹ (his son), אֲחַזְיָ֥הוּ (Ahaziah) בְנ֖וֹ (his son), יוֹאָ֥שׁ (Joash) בְּנֽוֹ׃ (his son), 12  אֲמַצְיָ֧הוּ (Amaziah) בְנ֛וֹ (his son), עֲזַרְיָ֥ה (Azariah) בְנ֖וֹ (his son), יוֹתָ֥ם (Jotham) בְּנֽוֹ׃ (his son), 13  אָחָ֥ז (Ahaz) בְּנ֛וֹ (his son), חִזְקִיָּ֥הוּ (Hezekiah) בְנ֖וֹ (his son), מְנַשֶּׁ֥ה (Manasseh) בְנֽוֹ׃ (his son), 14  אָמ֥וֹן (Amon) בְּנ֖וֹ (his son), יֹאשִׁיָּ֥הוּ (and Josiah) בְנֽוֹ׃ (his son).

15  וּבְנֵי֙ (And the sons) יֹאשִׁיָּ֔הוּ (of Josiah):

הַבְּכוֹר֙ (The firstborn) יוֹחָנָ֔ן (Johanan), הַשֵּׁנִ֖י (the second) יְהוֹיָקִ֑ים (Jehoiakim), הַשְּׁלִשִׁי֙ (the third) צִדְקִיָּ֔הוּ (Zedekiah), הָרְבִיעִ֖י (the fourth) שַׁלּֽוּם׃ (Shallum).

16  וּבְנֵ֖י (And the sons) יְהוֹיָקִ֑ים (of Jehoiakim):

יְכָנְיָ֥ה (Jeconiah) בְנ֖וֹ (his son), צִדְקִיָּ֥ה (and Zedekiah) בְנֽוֹ׃ (his son).

The Royal Line After the Exile

17  וּבְנֵי֙ (And the sons) יְכָנְיָ֣ה (of Jeconiah) אַסִּ֔ר (the captive):

שְׁאַלְתִּיאֵ֖ל (Shealtiel) בְּנֽוֹ׃ (his son), 18  וּמַלְכִּירָ֥ם (and Malchiram), וּפְדָיָ֖ה (and Pedaiah), וְשֶׁנְאַצַּ֑ר (and Shenazzar), יְקַמְיָ֥ה (Jekamiah), הוֹשָׁמָ֖ע (Hoshama), וּנְדַבְיָֽה׃ (and Nedabiah).

19  וּבְנֵ֣י (And the sons) פְדָיָ֔ה (of Pedaiah):

זְרֻבָּבֶ֖ל (ZErubbabel) וְשִׁמְעִ֑י (and Shimei).

וּבֶן־ (And the sons) זְרֻבָּבֶל֙ (of Zerubbabel):

מְשֻׁלָּ֣ם (Meshullam), וַחֲנַנְיָ֔ה (and Hananiah), וּשְׁלֹמִ֖ית (and Shelomith) אֲחוֹתָֽם׃ (their sister), 20  וַחֲשֻׁבָ֡ה (and Hashubah), וָ֠אֹהֶל (and Ohel), וּבֶרֶכְיָ֧ה (and Berechiah), וַֽחֲסַדְיָ֛ה (and Hasadiah), י֥וּשַׁב (and Jushab-) חֶ֖סֶד (hesed)— חָמֵֽשׁ׃ (five).

21  וּבֶן־ (And the sons) חֲנַנְיָ֖ה (of Hananiah):

פְּלַטְיָ֣ה (Pelatiah), וִישַֽׁעְיָ֑ה (and Jeshaiah), בְּנֵ֤י (the sons) רְפָיָה֙ (of Rephaiah), בְּנֵ֣י (the sons) אַרְנָ֔ן (of Arnan), בְּנֵ֥י (the sons) עֹבַדְיָ֖ה (of Obadiah), בְּנֵ֥י (and the sons) שְׁכַנְיָֽה׃ס (of Shechaniah).

22  וּבְנֵ֥י (And the sons) שְׁכַנְיָ֖ה (of Shechaniah): שְׁמַעְיָ֑ה (Shemaiah). וּבְנֵ֣י (And the sons) שְׁמַעְיָ֗ה (of Shemaiah):

חַטּ֡וּשׁ (Hattush), וְ֠יִגְאָל (and Igal), וּבָרִ֧יחַ (and Bariah), וּנְעַרְיָ֛ה (and Neariah), וְשָׁפָ֖ט (and Shaphat)— שִׁשָּֽׁה׃ (six).

23  וּבֶן־ (And the sons) נְעַרְיָ֗ה (of Neariah):

אֶלְיוֹעֵינַ֧י (Elioenai), וְחִזְקִיָּ֛ה (and Hezekiah), וְעַזְרִיקָ֖ם (and Azrikam)— שְׁלֹשָֽׁה׃ (three).

24  וּבְנֵ֣י (And the sons) אֶלְיוֹעֵינַ֗י (of Elioenai):

הֹדַיְוָהוּ (Hodaviah), וְאֶלְיָשִׁ֡יב (and Eliashib), וּפְלָיָ֡ה (and Pelaiah), וְ֠עַקּוּב (and Akkub), וְיוֹחָנָ֧ן (and Johanan), וּדְלָיָ֛ה (and Delaiah), וַעֲנָ֖נִי (and Anani)— שִׁבְעָֽה׃ס (seven).
