Azariah Reigns in Judah
(2 Chronicles 26:3–23)

1  בִּשְׁנַ֨ת (In the year) עֶשְׂרִ֤ים (twenty) וָשֶׁ֙בַע֙ (and seventh) שָׁנָ֔ה (year) לְיָרָבְעָ֖ם (of Jeroboam) מֶ֣לֶךְ (king) יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל (of Israel), מָלַ֛ךְ (became king) עֲזַרְיָ֥ה (Azariah) בֶן־ (son) אֲמַצְיָ֖ה (of Amaziah) מֶ֥לֶךְ (king) יְהוּדָֽה׃ (of Judah). 2  בֶּן־ (A son) שֵׁ֨שׁ (of six) עֶשְׂרֵ֤ה (and ten) שָׁנָה֙ (years) הָיָ֣ה (he was) בְמָלְכ֔וֹ (in his reigning), וַחֲמִשִּׁ֤ים (and fifty) וּשְׁתַּ֙יִם֙ (and two) שָׁנָ֔ה (years) מָלַ֖ךְ (he reigned) בִּירוּשָׁלִָ֑ם (in Jerusalem). וְשֵׁ֣ם (And the name) אִמּ֔וֹ (of his mother) יְכָלְיָ֖הוּ (was Jecholiah) מִירוּשָׁלִָֽם׃ (from Jerusalem). 3  וַיַּ֥עַשׂ (And he did) הַיָּשָׁ֖ר (right) בְּעֵינֵ֣י (in the eyes) יְהוָ֑ה (of YHWH), כְּכֹ֥ל (according to all) אֲשֶׁר־ (that) עָשָׂ֖ה (had done) אֲמַצְיָ֥הוּ (Amaziah) אָבִֽיו׃ (his father).

4  רַ֥ק (However) הַבָּמ֖וֹת (the high places) לֹא־ (not) סָ֑רוּ (were turned aside); ע֥וֹד (continued) הָעָ֛ם (the people) מְזַבְּחִ֥ים (sacrificing) וּֽמְקַטְּרִ֖ים (and burning incense) בַּבָּמֽוֹת׃ (on the high places).

5  וַיְנַגַּ֨ע (And struck) יְהוָ֜ה (YHWH) אֶת־ (-) הַמֶּ֗לֶךְ (the king) וַיְהִ֤י (and he became) מְצֹרָע֙ (a leper) עַד־ (until) י֣וֹם (the day) מֹת֔וֹ (of his death), וַיֵּ֖שֶׁב (and he dwelt) בְּבֵ֣ית (in a house) הַחָפְשִׁ֑ית (separate), וְיוֹתָ֤ם (and Jotham) בֶּן־ (son) הַמֶּ֙לֶךְ֙ (of the king) עַל־ (was over) הַבַּ֔יִת (the house), שֹׁפֵ֖ט (judging) אֶת־ (-) עַ֥ם (the people) הָאָֽרֶץ׃ (of the land).

6  וְיֶ֛תֶר (And the rest) דִּבְרֵ֥י (of the acts) עֲזַרְיָ֖הוּ (of Azariah) וְכָל־ (and all) אֲשֶׁ֣ר (that) עָשָׂ֑ה (he did), הֲלֹא־ (are not) הֵ֣ם (they) כְּתוּבִ֗ים (written) עַל־ (in) סֵ֛פֶר (the Book) דִּבְרֵ֥י (of the Words) הַיָּמִ֖ים (of the Days) לְמַלְכֵ֥י (of the Kings) יְהוּדָֽה׃ (of Judah)?

7  וַיִּשְׁכַּ֤ב (And rested) עֲזַרְיָה֙ (Azariah) עִם־ (with) אֲבֹתָ֔יו (his fathers), וַיִּקְבְּר֥וּ (and they buried) אֹת֛וֹ (him) עִם־ (with) אֲבֹתָ֖יו (his fathers) בְּעִ֣יר (in the City) דָּוִ֑ד (of David). וַיִּמְלֹ֛ךְ (And reigned) יוֹתָ֥ם (Jotham) בְּנ֖וֹ (his son) תַּחְתָּֽיו׃פ (in his place).

Zechariah Reigns in Israel

8  בִּשְׁנַ֨ת (In the year) שְׁלֹשִׁ֤ים (thirty) וּשְׁמֹנֶה֙ (and eighth) שָׁנָ֔ה (year) לַעֲזַרְיָ֖הוּ (of Azariah) מֶ֣לֶךְ (king) יְהוּדָ֑ה (of Judah), מָ֠לַךְ (became king) זְכַרְיָ֨הוּ (Zechariah) בֶן־ (son) יָרָבְעָ֧ם (of Jeroboam) עַל־ (over) יִשְׂרָאֵ֛ל (Israel) בְּשֹׁמְר֖וֹן (in Samaria) שִׁשָּׁ֥ה (six) חֳדָשִֽׁים׃ (months). 9  וַיַּ֤עַשׂ (And he did) הָרַע֙ (evil) בְּעֵינֵ֣י (in the eyes) יְהוָ֔ה (of YHWH), כַּאֲשֶׁ֥ר (as) עָשׂ֖וּ (had done) אֲבֹתָ֑יו (his fathers). לֹ֣א (Not) סָ֗ר (he did depart) מֵֽחַטֹּאות֙ (from the sins) יָרָבְעָ֣ם (of Jeroboam) בֶּן־ (son) נְבָ֔ט (of Nebat), אֲשֶׁ֥ר (who) הֶחֱטִ֖יא (had caused to sin) אֶת־ (-) יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃ (Israel).

10  וַיִּקְשֹׁ֤ר (And conspired) עָלָיו֙ (against him) שַׁלֻּ֣ם (Shallum) בֶּן־ (son) יָבֵ֔שׁ (of Jabesh), וַיַּכֵּ֥הוּ (and struck him down) קָֽבָלְ־ (in front) עָ֖ם (of the people), וַיְמִיתֵ֑הוּ (and he killed him). וַיִּמְלֹ֖ךְ (And he reigned) תַּחְתָּֽיו׃ (in his place).

11  וְיֶ֖תֶר (And the rest) דִּבְרֵ֣י (of the acts) זְכַרְיָ֑ה (of Zechariah), הִנָּ֣ם (behold), כְּתוּבִ֗ים (they are written) עַל־ (in) סֵ֛פֶר (the Book) דִּבְרֵ֥י (of the Words) הַיָּמִ֖ים (of the Days) לְמַלְכֵ֥י (of the Kings) יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃ (of Israel). 12  ה֣וּא (It was) דְבַר־ (the word) יְהוָ֗ה (of YHWH) אֲשֶׁ֨ר (that) דִּבֶּ֤ר (He had spoken) אֶל־ (to) יֵהוּא֙ (Jehu), לֵאמֹ֔ר (saying), בְּנֵ֣י (Sons) רְבִיעִ֔ים (of the fourth) יֵשְׁב֥וּ (shall sit) לְךָ֖ (unto you) עַל־ (on) כִּסֵּ֣א (the throne) יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל (of Israel). וַֽיְהִי־ (And it was) כֵֽן׃פ (so).

Shallum Reigns in Israel

13  שַׁלּ֤וּם (Shallum) בֶּן־ (son) יָבֵישׁ֙ (of Jabesh) מָלַ֔ךְ (became king) בִּשְׁנַ֨ת (in the year) שְׁלֹשִׁ֤ים (thirty) וָתֵ֙שַׁע֙ (and ninth) שָׁנָ֔ה (year) לְעֻזִיָּ֖ה (of Uzziah) מֶ֣לֶךְ (king) יְהוּדָ֑ה (of Judah), וַיִּמְלֹ֥ךְ (and he reigned) יֶֽרַח־ (a month) יָמִ֖ים (of days) בְּשֹׁמְרֽוֹן׃ (in Samaria).

14  וַיַּעַל֩ (And went up) מְנַחֵ֨ם (Menahem) בֶּן־ (son) גָּדִ֜י (of Gadi) מִתִּרְצָ֗ה (from Tirzah) וַיָּבֹא֙ (and came in) שֹׁמְר֔וֹן (to Samaria), וַיַּ֛ךְ (and he struck) אֶת־ (-) שַׁלּ֥וּם (Shallum) בֶּן־ (son) יָבֵ֖ישׁ (of Jabesh) בְּשֹׁמְר֑וֹן (in Samaria) וַיְמִיתֵ֖הוּ (and killed him), וַיִּמְלֹ֥ךְ (and he reigned) תַּחְתָּֽיו׃ (in his place).

15  וְיֶ֙תֶר֙ (And the rest) דִּבְרֵ֣י (of the acts) שַׁלּ֔וּם (of Shallum) וְקִשְׁר֖וֹ (and the conspiracy) אֲשֶׁ֣ר (that) קָשָׁ֑ר (he led), הִנָּ֣ם (behold), כְּתֻבִ֗ים (they are written) עַל־ (in) סֵ֛פֶר (the Book) דִּבְרֵ֥י (of the Words) הַיָּמִ֖ים (of the Days) לְמַלְכֵ֥י (of the Kings) יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃ס (of Israel).

16  אָ֣ז (Then) יַכֶּֽה־ (struck) מְ֠נַחֵם (Menahem) אֶת־ (-) תִּפְסַ֨ח (Tiphsah) וְאֶת־ (and) כָּל־ (all) אֲשֶׁר־ (who were) בָּ֤הּ (in it) וְאֶת־ (and) גְּבוּלֶ֙יהָ֙ (its borders) מִתִּרְצָ֔ה (from Tirzah), כִּ֛י (because) לֹ֥א (not) פָתַ֖ח (it did open). וַיַּ֑ךְ (And he struck) אֵ֛ת (it)— כָּל־ (all) הֶהָ֥רוֹתֶ֖יהָ (its pregnant women) בִּקֵּֽעַ׃פ (he split open).

Menahem Reigns in Israel

17  בִּשְׁנַ֨ת (In the year) שְׁלֹשִׁ֤ים (thirty) וָתֵ֙שַׁע֙ (and ninth) שָׁנָ֔ה (year) לַעֲזַרְיָ֖ה (of Azariah) מֶ֣לֶךְ (king) יְהוּדָ֑ה (of Judah), מָ֠לַךְ (became king) מְנַחֵ֨ם (Menahem) בֶּן־ (son) גָּדִ֧י (of Gadi) עַל־ (over) יִשְׂרָאֵ֛ל (Israel) עֶ֥שֶׂר (ten) שָׁנִ֖ים (years) בְּשֹׁמְרֽוֹן׃ (in Samaria). 18  וַיַּ֥עַשׂ (And he did) הָרַ֖ע (evil) בְּעֵינֵ֣י (in the eyes) יְהוָ֑ה (of YHWH); לֹ֣א (not) סָ֠ר (he did depart) מֵעַ֨ל (from) חַטֹּ֜אות (the sins) יָרָבְעָ֧ם (of Jeroboam) בֶּן־ (son) נְבָ֛ט (of Nebat), אֲשֶׁר־ (who) הֶחֱטִ֥יא (had caused to sin) אֶת־ (-) יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל (Israel) כָּל־ (all) יָמָֽיו׃ (his days).

19  בָּ֣א (Came) פ֤וּל (Pul) מֶֽלֶךְ־ (king) אַשּׁוּר֙ (of Assyria) עַל־ (against) הָאָ֔רֶץ (the land), וַיִּתֵּ֤ן (and gave) מְנַחֵם֙ (Menahem) לְפ֔וּל (Pul) אֶ֖לֶף (a thousand) כִּכַּר־ (talents) כָּ֑סֶף (of silver), לִהְי֤וֹת (that might be) יָדָיו֙ (his hand) אִתּ֔וֹ (with him) לְהַחֲזִ֥יק (to strengthen) הַמַּמְלָכָ֖ה (the kingdom) בְּיָדֽוֹ׃ (under his control). 20  וַיֹּצֵא֩ (And brought out) מְנַחֵ֨ם (Menahem) אֶת־ (-) הַכֶּ֜סֶף (the silver) עַל־ (from) יִשְׂרָאֵ֗ל (Israel) עַ֚ל (from) כָּל־ (all) גִּבּוֹרֵ֣י (the mighty men) הַחַ֔יִל (of wealth), לָתֵת֙ (to give) לְמֶ֣לֶךְ (to the king) אַשּׁ֔וּר (of Assyria), חֲמִשִּׁ֧ים (fifty) שְׁקָלִ֛ים (shekels) כֶּ֖סֶף (of silver) לְאִ֣ישׁ (for man) אֶחָ֑ד (one). וַיָּ֙שָׁב֙ (And turned back) מֶ֣לֶךְ (the king) אַשּׁ֔וּר (of Assyria) וְלֹא־ (and not) עָ֥מַד (did stay) שָׁ֖ם (there) בָּאָֽרֶץ׃ (in the land).

21  וְיֶ֛תֶר (And the rest) דִּבְרֵ֥י (of the acts) מְנַחֵ֖ם (of Menahem) וְכָל־ (and all) אֲשֶׁ֣ר (that) עָשָׂ֑ה (he did), הֲלוֹא־ (are not) הֵ֣ם (they) כְּתוּבִ֗ים (written) עַל־ (in) סֵ֛פֶר (the Book) דִּבְרֵ֥י (of the Words) הַיָּמִ֖ים (of the Days) לְמַלְכֵ֥י (of the Kings) יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃ (of Israel)?

22  וַיִּשְׁכַּ֥ב (And rested) מְנַחֵ֖ם (Menahem) עִם־ (with) אֲבֹתָ֑יו (his fathers), וַיִּמְלֹ֛ךְ (and reigned) פְּקַחְיָ֥ה (Pekahiah) בְנ֖וֹ (his son) תַּחְתָּֽיו׃פ (in his place).

Pekahiah Reigns in Israel

23  בִּשְׁנַת֙ (In the year) חֲמִשִּׁ֣ים (fiftieth) שָׁנָ֔ה (year) לַעֲזַרְיָ֖ה (of Azariah) מֶ֣לֶךְ (king) יְהוּדָ֑ה (of Judah), מָ֠לַךְ (became king) פְּקַֽחְיָ֨ה (Pekahiah) בֶן־ (son) מְנַחֵ֧ם (of Menahem) עַל־ (over) יִשְׂרָאֵ֛ל (Israel) בְּשֹׁמְר֖וֹן (in Samaria) שְׁנָתָֽיִם׃ (two years). 24  וַיַּ֥עַשׂ (And he did) הָרַ֖ע (evil) בְּעֵינֵ֣י (in the eyes) יְהוָ֑ה (of YHWH); לֹ֣א (not) סָ֗ר (he did depart) מֵֽחַטֹּאות֙ (from the sins) יָרָבְעָ֣ם (of Jeroboam) בֶּן־ (son) נְבָ֔ט (of Nebat), אֲשֶׁ֥ר (who) הֶחֱטִ֖יא (had caused to sin) אֶת־ (-) יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃ (Israel).

25  וַיִּקְשֹׁ֣ר (And conspired) עָלָיו֩ (against him) פֶּ֨קַח (Pekah) בֶּן־ (son) רְמַלְיָ֜הוּ (of Remaliah), שָׁלִישׁ֗וֹ (his officer), וַיַּכֵּ֨הוּ (and killed him) בְשֹׁמְר֜וֹן (in Samaria) בְּאַרְמ֤וֹן (in the citadel) בֵּית־ (of house) מֶלֶךְ (of the king) אֶת־ (along with) אַרְגֹּ֣ב (Argob) וְאֶת־ (and) הָאַרְיֵ֔ה (Arieh), וְעִמּ֛וֹ (and with him) חֲמִשִּׁ֥ים (fifty) אִ֖ישׁ (men) מִבְּנֵ֣י (of) גִלְעָדִ֑ים (the Gileadites). וַיְמִיתֵ֖הוּ (And He killed him) וַיִּמְלֹ֥ךְ (and reigned) תַּחְתָּֽיו׃ (in his place).

26  וְיֶ֛תֶר (And the rest) דִּבְרֵ֥י (of the acts) פְקַחְיָ֖ה (of Pekahiah), וְכָל־ (and all) אֲשֶׁ֣ר (that) עָשָׂ֑ה (he did), הִנָּ֣ם (behold), כְּתוּבִ֗ים (they are written) עַל־ (in) סֵ֛פֶר (the Book) דִּבְרֵ֥י (of the Words) הַיָּמִ֖ים (of the Days) לְמַלְכֵ֥י (of the Kings) יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃פ (of Israel).

Pekah Reigns in Israel

27  בִּשְׁנַ֨ת (In the year) חֲמִשִּׁ֤ים (fifty) וּשְׁתַּ֙יִם֙ (and second) שָׁנָ֔ה (year) לַעֲזַרְיָ֖ה (of Azariah) מֶ֣לֶךְ (king) יְהוּדָ֑ה (of Judah), מָ֠לַךְ (became king) פֶּ֣קַח (Pekah) בֶּן־ (son) רְמַלְיָ֧הוּ (of Remaliah) עַל־ (over) יִשְׂרָאֵ֛ל (Israel) בְּשֹׁמְר֖וֹן (in Samaria) עֶשְׂרִ֥ים (twenty) שָׁנָֽה׃ (years). 28  וַיַּ֥עַשׂ (And he did) הָרַ֖ע (evil) בְּעֵינֵ֣י (in the eyes) יְהוָ֑ה (of YHWH); לֹ֣א (not) סָ֗ר (he did depart) מִן־ (from) חַטֹּאות֙ (the sins) יָרָבְעָ֣ם (of Jeroboam) בֶּן־ (son) נְבָ֔ט (of Nebat), אֲשֶׁ֥ר (who) הֶחֱטִ֖יא (had caused to sin) אֶת־ (-) יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃ (Israel).

29  בִּימֵ֞י (In the days) פֶּ֣קַח (of Pekah) מֶֽלֶךְ־ (king) יִשְׂרָאֵ֗ל (of Israel) בָּא֮ (came) תִּגְלַ֣ת (Tiglath-) פִּלְאֶסֶר֮ (pileser) מֶ֣לֶךְ (king) אַשּׁוּר֒ (of Assyria), וַיִּקַּ֣ח (and seized) אֶת־ (-) עִיּ֡וֹן (Ijon), וְאֶת־ (and) אָבֵ֣ל (Abel-) בֵּֽית־ (beth-) מַעֲכָ֡ה (maacah), וְאֶת־ (and) יָ֠נוֹחַ (Janoah), וְאֶת־ (and) קֶ֨דֶשׁ (Kedesh), וְאֶת־ (and) חָצ֤וֹר (Hazor), וְאֶת־ (and) הַגִּלְעָד֙ (Gilead), וְאֶת־ (and) הַגָּלִ֔ילָה (Galilee), כֹּ֖ל (all) אֶ֣רֶץ (the land) נַפְתָּלִ֑י (of Naphtali), וַיַּגְלֵ֖ם (and he removed them) אַשּֽׁוּרָה׃ (to Assyria).

30  וַיִּקְשָׁר־ (And bound) קֶ֜שֶׁר (a conspiracy) הוֹשֵׁ֣עַ (Hoshea) בֶּן־ (son) אֵלָ֗ה (of Elah) עַל־ (against) פֶּ֙קַח֙ (Pekah) בֶּן־ (son) רְמַלְיָ֔הוּ (of Remaliah), וַיַּכֵּ֙הוּ֙ (and he struck him) וַיְמִיתֵ֔הוּ (and killed him). וַיִּמְלֹ֖ךְ (And he reigned) תַּחְתָּ֑יו (in his place) בִּשְׁנַ֣ת (in the year) עֶשְׂרִ֔ים (twentieth) לְיוֹתָ֖ם (of Jotham) בֶּן־ (son) עֻזִיָּֽה׃ (of Uzziah).

31  וְיֶ֥תֶר (And the rest) דִּבְרֵי־ (of the acts) פֶ֖קַח (of Pekah) וְכָל־ (and all) אֲשֶׁ֣ר (that) עָשָׂ֑ה (he did), הִנָּ֣ם (behold), כְּתוּבִ֗ים (they are written) עַל־ (in) סֵ֛פֶר (the Book) דִּבְרֵ֥י (of the Words) הַיָּמִ֖ים (of the Days) לְמַלְכֵ֥י (of the Kings) יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃פ (of Israel).

Jotham Reigns in Judah
(2 Chronicles 27:1–9)

32  בִּשְׁנַ֣ת (In the year) שְׁתַּ֔יִם (second) לְפֶ֥קַח (of Pekah) בֶּן־ (son) רְמַלְיָ֖הוּ (of Remaliah) מֶ֣לֶךְ (king) יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל (of Israel), מָלַ֛ךְ (became king) יוֹתָ֥ם (Jotham) בֶּן־ (son) עֻזִיָּ֖הוּ (of Uzziah) מֶ֥לֶךְ (king) יְהוּדָֽה׃ (of Judah). 33  בֶּן־ (A son) עֶשְׂרִ֨ים (of twenty) וְחָמֵ֤שׁ (and five) שָׁנָה֙ (years) הָיָ֣ה (he was) בְמָלְכ֔וֹ (in his reigning), וְשֵׁשׁ־ (and six) עֶשְׂרֵ֣ה (and ten) שָׁנָ֔ה (years) מָלַ֖ךְ (he reigned) בִּירוּשָׁלִָ֑ם (in Jerusalem). וְשֵׁ֣ם (And the name) אִמּ֔וֹ (of his mother) יְרוּשָׁ֖א (was Jerusha) בַּת־ (daughter) צָדֽוֹק׃ (of Zadok). 34  וַיַּ֥עַשׂ (And he did) הַיָּשָׁ֖ר (right) בְּעֵינֵ֣י (in the eyes) יְהוָ֑ה (of YHWH), כְּכֹ֧ל (according to all) אֲשֶׁר־ (that) עָשָׂ֛ה (had done) עֻזִיָּ֥הוּ (Uzziah) אָבִ֖יו (his father), עָשָֽׂה׃ (he did).

35  רַ֤ק (However) הַבָּמוֹת֙ (the high places) לֹ֣א (not) סָ֔רוּ (were removed); ע֗וֹד (still) הָעָ֛ם (the people) מְזַבְּחִ֥ים (sacrificed) וּֽמְקַטְּרִ֖ים (and burned incense) בַּבָּמ֑וֹת (on the high places).

ה֗וּא (He) בָּנָ֛ה (built) אֶת־ (-) שַׁ֥עַר (Gate) בֵּית־ (of the house) יְהוָ֖ה (of YHWH) הָעֶלְיֽוֹן׃ (the Upper).

36  וְיֶ֛תֶר (And the rest) דִּבְרֵ֥י (of the acts) יוֹתָ֖ם (of Jotham) אֲשֶׁ֣ר (and that) עָשָׂ֑ה (he did), הֲלֹא־ (are not) הֵ֣ם (they) כְּתוּבִ֗ים (written) עַל־ (in) סֵ֛פֶר (the Book) דִּבְרֵ֥י (of the Words) הַיָּמִ֖ים (of the Days) לְמַלְכֵ֥י (of the Kings) יְהוּדָֽה׃ (of Judah)?

37  בַּיָּמִ֣ים (In the days) הָהֵ֔ם (those) הֵחֵ֣ל (began) יְהוָ֗ה (YHWH) לְהַשְׁלִ֙יחַ֙ (to send) בִּֽיהוּדָ֔ה (against Judah) רְצִ֖ין (Rezin) מֶ֣לֶךְ (king) אֲרָ֑ם (of Aram) וְאֵ֖ת (and) פֶּ֥קַח (Pekah) בֶּן־ (son) רְמַלְיָֽהוּ׃ (of Remaliah).

38  וַיִּשְׁכַּ֤ב (And rested) יוֹתָם֙ (Jotham) עִם־ (with) אֲבֹתָ֔יו (his fathers) וַיִּקָּבֵר֙ (and was buried) עִם־ (with) אֲבֹתָ֔יו (his fathers) בְּעִ֖יר (in the City) דָּוִ֣ד (of David) אָבִ֑יו (his father). וַיִּמְלֹ֛ךְ (And reigned) אָחָ֥ז (Ahaz) בְּנ֖וֹ (his son) תַּחְתָּֽיו׃פ (in his place).
