Jeremiah’s Scroll Read in the Temple

1  וַֽיְהִי֙ (And it came to pass) בַּשָּׁנָ֣ה (year) הָרְבִיעִ֔ת (in the fourth) לִיהוֹיָקִ֥ים (of Jehoiakim) בֶּן־ (son) יֹאשִׁיָּ֖הוּ (of Josiah) מֶ֣לֶךְ (king) יְהוּדָ֑ה (of Judah), הָיָ֞ה (came) הַדָּבָ֤ר (word) הַזֶּה֙ (that this) אֶֽל־ (to) יִרְמְיָ֔הוּ (Jeremiah) מֵאֵ֥ת (from) יְהוָ֖ה (YHWH), לֵאמֹֽר׃ (saying), 2  קַח־ (Take) לְךָ֮ (for yourself) מְגִלַּת־ (a scroll) סֵפֶר֒ (of a book), וְכָתַבְתָּ֣ (and write) אֵלֶ֗יהָ (on it) אֵ֣ת (-) כָּל־ (all) הַדְּבָרִ֞ים (the words) אֲשֶׁר־ (that) דִּבַּ֧רְתִּי (I have spoken) אֵלֶ֛יךָ (to you) עַל־ (against) יִשְׂרָאֵ֥ל (Israel), וְעַל־ (and against) יְהוּדָ֖ה (Judah), וְעַל־ (and against) כָּל־ (all) הַגּוֹיִ֑ם (the nations), מִיּ֞וֹם (from the day) דִּבַּ֤רְתִּי (I spoke) אֵלֶ֙יךָ֙ (to you) מִימֵ֣י (from the days) יֹאשִׁיָּ֔הוּ (of Josiah), וְעַ֖ד (even to) הַיּ֥וֹם (day) הַזֶּֽה׃ (this). 3  אוּלַ֤י (Perhaps) יִשְׁמְעוּ֙ (will hear) בֵּ֣ית (the house) יְהוּדָ֔ה (of Judah) אֵ֚ת (-) כָּל־ (all) הָ֣רָעָ֔ה (the disaster) אֲשֶׁ֛ר (that) אָנֹכִ֥י (I) חֹשֵׁ֖ב (am planning) לַעֲשׂ֣וֹת (to bring) לָהֶ֑ם (upon them) לְמַ֣עַן (so that) יָשׁ֗וּבוּ (might turn back) אִ֚ישׁ (each man) מִדַּרְכּ֣וֹ (way); הָרָעָ֔ה (from his evil) וְסָלַחְתִּ֥י (and I will forgive) לַעֲוֺנָ֖ם (their iniquity) וּלְחַטָּאתָֽם׃ס (and their sin).

4  וַיִּקְרָ֣א (And called) יִרְמְיָ֔הוּ (Jeremiah) אֶת־ (-) בָּר֖וּךְ (Baruch) בֶּן־ (son) נֵֽרִיָּ֑ה (of Neriah), וַיִּכְתֹּ֨ב (and wrote) בָּר֜וּךְ (Baruch) מִפִּ֣י (from the mouth) יִרְמְיָ֗הוּ (of Jeremiah) אֵ֣ת (-) כָּל־ (all) דִּבְרֵ֧י (the words) יְהוָ֛ה (of YHWH), אֲשֶׁר־ (that) דִּבֶּ֥ר (He had spoken) אֵלָ֖יו (to him) עַל־ (on) מְגִלַּת־ (a scroll) סֵֽפֶר׃ (of a book).

5  וַיְצַוֶּ֣ה (And commanded) יִרְמְיָ֔הוּ (Jeremiah) אֶת־ (-) בָּר֖וּךְ (Baruch), לֵאמֹ֑ר (saying), אֲנִ֣י (I am) עָצ֔וּר (restrained); לֹ֣א (not) אוּכַ֔ל (I am able) לָב֖וֹא (to enter) בֵּ֥ית (the house) יְהוָֽה׃ (of YHWH). 6  וּבָאתָ֣ (And shall go) אַתָּ֡ה (you), וְקָרָ֣אתָ (and call out) בַמְּגִלָּ֣ה (from the scroll), אֲשֶׁר־ (which) כָּתַֽבְתָּ־ (you have written) מִפִּי֩ (from my mouth), אֶת־ (-) דִּבְרֵ֨י (the words) יְהוָ֜ה (of YHWH) בְּאָזְנֵ֥י (into the ears) הָעָ֛ם (of the people) בֵּ֥ית (in the house) יְהוָ֖ה (of YHWH) בְּי֣וֹם (on the day). צ֑וֹם (Of fasting) וְגַ֨ם (And also) בְּאָזְנֵ֧י (into the ears) כָל־ (of all) יְהוּדָ֛ה (Judah) הַבָּאִ֥ים (who are coming) מֵעָרֵיהֶ֖ם (from their cities) תִּקְרָאֵֽם׃ (you shall read them).

7  אוּלַ֞י (Perhaps) תִּפֹּ֤ל (will fall) תְּחִנָּתָם֙ (their plea for mercy) לִפְנֵ֣י (before) יְהוָ֔ה (YHWH) וְיָשֻׁ֕בוּ (will turn back) אִ֖ישׁ (and each man) מִדַּרְכּ֣וֹ (way), הָרָעָ֑ה (from his evil) כִּֽי־ (for) גָד֤וֹל (great is) הָאַף֙ (the anger) וְהַ֣חֵמָ֔ה (and the fury) אֲשֶׁר־ (with which) דִּבֶּ֥ר (has spoken) יְהוָ֖ה (YHWH) אֶל־ (against) הָעָ֥ם (the people) הַזֶּֽה׃ (this).

8  וַיַּ֗עַשׂ (Did) בָּרוּךְ֙ (and Baruch) בֶּן־ (son) נֵ֣רִיָּ֔ה (of Neriah) כְּכֹ֥ל (according to all) אֲשֶׁר־ (that) צִוָּ֖הוּ (had commanded him) יִרְמְיָ֣הוּ (Jeremiah) הַנָּבִ֑יא (the prophet) לִקְרֹ֥א (calling out) בַסֵּ֛פֶר (from the book) דִּבְרֵ֥י (of the words) יְהוָ֖ה (of YHWH) בֵּ֥ית (in the house) יְהֹוָֽה׃ס (of YHWH).

9  וַיְהִ֣י (And it came to pass) בַשָּׁנָ֣ה (year) הַ֠חֲמִשִׁית (in the fifth) לִיהוֹיָקִ֨ים (of Jehoiakim) בֶּן־ (son) יֹאשִׁיָּ֤הוּ (of Josiah) מֶֽלֶךְ־ (king) יְהוּדָה֙ (of Judah), בַּחֹ֣דֶשׁ (month), הַתְּשִׁעִ֔י (in the ninth) קָרְא֨וּ (that they called) צ֜וֹם (a fast) לִפְנֵ֧י (before) יְהוָ֛ה (YHWH) כָּל־ (to all) הָעָ֖ם (the people) בִּירֽוּשָׁלִָ֑ם (in Jerusalem), וְכָל־ (and for all) הָעָ֗ם (the people) הַבָּאִ֛ים (having come) מֵעָרֵ֥י (from the cities) יְהוּדָ֖ה (of Judah) בִּירוּשָׁלִָֽם׃ (who were in Jerusalem). 10  וַיִּקְרָ֨א (Called out) בָר֥וּךְ (and Baruch) בַּסֵּ֛פֶר (from the book of) אֶת־ (-) דִּבְרֵ֥י (the words) יִרְמְיָ֖הוּ (of Jeremiah) בֵּ֣ית (in the house) יְהוָ֑ה (of YHWH), בְּלִשְׁכַּ֡ת (in the chamber) גְּמַרְיָהוּ֩ (of Gemariah) בֶן־ (son) שָׁפָ֨ן (of Shaphan) הַסֹּפֵ֜ר (the scribe), בֶּחָצֵ֣ר (court), הָעֶלְי֗וֹן (in the upper) פֶּ֣תַח (at the entrance) שַׁ֤עַר (Gate) בֵּית־ (of the house), יְהוָה֙ (of YHWH) הֶֽחָדָ֔שׁ (of the New) בְּאָזְנֵ֖י (into the ears) כָּל־ (of all) הָעָֽם׃ (the people).

11  וַ֠יִּשְׁמַ֗ע (And heard) מִכָ֨יְהוּ (Micaiah) בֶן־ (son) גְּמַרְיָ֧הוּ (of Gemariah), בֶן־ (son) שָׁפָ֛ן (of Shaphan), אֶת־ (-) כָּל־ (all) דִּבְרֵ֥י (the words) יְהוָ֖ה (of YHWH), מֵעַ֥ל (from) הַסֵּֽפֶר׃ (the book). 12  וַיֵּ֤רֶד (And he went down) בֵּית־ (to the house), הַמֶּ֙לֶךְ֙ (of the king) עַל־ (into) לִשְׁכַּ֣ת (the chamber). הַסֹּפֵ֔ר (Of the scribe) וְהִ֨נֵּה־ (and), שָׁ֔ם (there), כָּל־ (all) הַשָּׂרִ֖ים (the princes) יֽוֹשְׁבִ֑ים (were sitting) אֱלִישָׁמָ֣ע (Elishama) הַסֹּפֵ֡ר (the scribe), וּדְלָיָ֣הוּ (and Delaiah) בֶן־ (son) שְׁ֠מַעְיָהוּ (of Shemaiah), וְאֶלְנָתָ֨ן (and Elnathan) בֶּן־ (son) עַכְבּ֜וֹר (of Achbor), וּגְמַרְיָ֧הוּ (and Gemariah) בֶן־ (son) שָׁפָ֛ן (of Shaphan), וְצִדְקִיָּ֥הוּ (and Zedekiah) בֶן־ (son) חֲנַנְיָ֖הוּ (of Hananiah), וְכָל־ (and all) הַשָּׂרִֽים׃ (the princes). 13  וַיַּגֵּ֤ד (Declared) לָהֶם֙ (to them) מִכָ֔יְהוּ (and Micaiah) אֵ֥ת (-) כָּל־ (all) הַדְּבָרִ֖ים (the words) אֲשֶׁ֣ר (that) שָׁמֵ֑עַ (he had heard), בִּקְרֹ֥א (read) בָר֛וּךְ (when Baruch) בַּסֵּ֖פֶר (from the book) בְּאָזְנֵ֥י (into the ears) הָעָֽם׃ (of the people).

14  וַיִּשְׁלְח֨וּ (Sent) כָל־ (and all) הַשָּׂרִ֜ים (the princes) אֶל־ (to) בָּר֗וּךְ (Baruch), אֶת־ (-) יְהוּדִ֡י (Jehudi) בֶּן־ (son) נְ֠תַנְיָהוּ (of Nethaniah), בֶּן־ (son) שֶׁלֶמְיָ֣הוּ (of Shelemiah), בֶן־ (son) כּוּשִׁי֮ (of Cushi), לֵאמֹר֒ (saying), הַמְּגִלָּ֗ה (The scroll) אֲשֶׁ֨ר (which) קָרָ֤אתָ (you have called out) בָּהּ֙ (from it) בְּאָזְנֵ֣י (into the ears) הָעָ֔ם (of the people), קָחֶ֥נָּה (take it) בְיָדְךָ֖ (in your hand) וָלֵ֑ךְ (and come).

וַ֠יִּקַּח (Took) בָּר֨וּךְ (and Baruch) בֶּן־ (son) נֵרִיָּ֤הוּ (of Neriah) אֶת־ (-) הַמְּגִלָּה֙ (the scroll) בְּיָד֔וֹ (in his hand), וַיָּבֹ֖א (and came) אֲלֵיהֶֽם׃ (to them).

15  וַיֹּאמְר֣וּ (And they said) אֵלָ֔יו (to him) שֵׁ֣ב (Sit down) נָ֔א (now), וּקְרָאֶ֖נָּה (and read it) בְּאָזְנֵ֑ינוּ (in our ears).

וַיִּקְרָ֥א (Read it) בָר֖וּךְ (and Baruch) בְּאָזְנֵיהֶֽם׃ (in their ears).

16  וַיְהִ֗י (And it came to pass), כְּשָׁמְעָם֙ (at their hearing) אֶת־ (-) כָּל־ (all) הַדְּבָרִ֔ים (the words), פָּחֲד֖וּ (that they were in fear) אִ֣ישׁ (each man) אֶל־ (to) רֵעֵ֑הוּ (his neighbor), וַיֹּֽאמְרוּ֙ (and said) אֶל־ (to) בָּר֔וּךְ (Baruch), הַגֵּ֤יד (Declaring) נַגִּיד֙ (we must declare) לַמֶּ֔לֶךְ (to the king) אֵ֥ת (-) כָּל־ (all) הַדְּבָרִ֖ים (words) הָאֵֽלֶּה׃ (these).

17  וְאֶ֨ת־ (And) בָּר֔וּךְ (Baruch), שָׁאֲל֖וּ (they asked) לֵאמֹ֑ר (saying), הַגֶּד־ (Declare) נָ֣א (please), לָ֔נוּ (to us) אֵ֗יךְ (how) כָּתַ֛בְתָּ (did you write) אֶת־ (-) כָּל־ (all) הַדְּבָרִ֥ים (words) הָאֵ֖לֶּה (these) מִפִּֽיו׃ (from his mouth)?

18  וַיֹּ֤אמֶר (And gave the answer) לָהֶם֙ (to them) בָּר֔וּךְ (Baruch) מִפִּיו֙ (From his mouth), יִקְרָ֣א (he called out) אֵלַ֔י (to me) אֵ֥ת (-) כָּל־ (all) הַדְּבָרִ֖ים (the words) הָאֵ֑לֶּה (these) וַאֲנִ֛י (and I) כֹּתֵ֥ב (was writing) עַל־ (upon) הַסֵּ֖פֶר (the book) בַּדְּיֽוֹ׃פ (in ink).

19  וַיֹּאמְר֤וּ (Said) הַשָּׂרִים֙ (and the princes) אֶל־ (to) בָּר֔וּךְ (Baruch), לֵ֥ךְ (Go), הִסָּתֵ֖ר (and hide yourself) אַתָּ֣ה (you) וְיִרְמְיָ֑הוּ (and Jeremiah); וְאִ֥ישׁ (let a man) אַל־ (and do not) יֵדַ֖ע (know) אֵיפֹ֥ה (where) אַתֶּֽם׃ (you⁺ are).

Jehoiakim Burns the Scroll

20  וַיָּבֹ֤אוּ (And they went) אֶל־ (to) הַמֶּ֙לֶךְ֙ (the king) חָצֵ֔רָה (into the court), וְאֶת־ (and) הַמְּגִלָּ֣ה (the scroll) הִפְקִ֔דוּ (they stored) בְּלִשְׁכַּ֖ת (in the chamber) אֱלִישָׁמָ֣ע (of Elishama) הַסֹּפֵ֑ר (the scribe), וַיַּגִּ֙ידוּ֙ (and they declared) בְּאָזְנֵ֣י (in the ears) הַמֶּ֔לֶךְ (of the king). אֵ֖ת (-) כָּל־ (All) הַדְּבָרִֽים׃ (the words).

21  וַיִּשְׁלַ֨ח (Sent) הַמֶּ֜לֶךְ (and the king) אֶת־ (-) יְהוּדִ֗י (Jehudi) לָקַ֙חַת֙ (to take) אֶת־ (-) הַמְּגִלָּ֔ה (the scroll), וַיִּ֨קָּחֶ֔הָ (and he took it) מִלִּשְׁכַּ֖ת (from the chamber). אֱלִישָׁמָ֣ע (Of Elishama) הַסֹּפֵ֑ר (the scribe) וַיִּקְרָאֶ֤הָ (read it) יְהוּדִי֙ (and Jehudi) בְּאָזְנֵ֣י (in the ears) הַמֶּ֔לֶךְ (of the king), וּבְאָזְנֵי֙ (and in the ears) כָּל־ (of all) הַשָּׂרִ֔ים (the princes) הָעֹמְדִ֖ים (who were standing) מֵעַ֥ל (beside) הַמֶּֽלֶךְ׃ (the king).

22  וְהַמֶּ֗לֶךְ (And the king) יוֹשֵׁב֙ (was sitting) בֵּ֣ית (in the house) הַחֹ֔רֶף (of the winter) בַּחֹ֖דֶשׁ (month), הַתְּשִׁיעִ֑י (in the ninth) וְאֶת־ (and) הָאָ֖ח (the hearth) לְפָנָ֥יו (before his face) מְבֹעָֽרֶת׃ (was burning). 23  וַיְהִ֣י׀ (And it came to pass that), כִּקְר֣וֹא (had read) יְהוּדִ֗י (when Jehudi) שָׁלֹ֣שׁ (three) דְּלָתוֹת֮ (columns), וְאַרְבָּעָה֒ (or four) יִֽקְרָעֶ֙הָ֙ (he cut it) בְּתַ֣עַר (with the knife) הַסֹּפֵ֔ר (of a scribe), וְהַשְׁלֵ֕ךְ (and cast it) אֶל־ (into) הָאֵ֖שׁ (the fire) אֲשֶׁ֣ר (that was) אֶל־ (on) הָאָ֑ח (the hearth), עַד־ (until) תֹּם֙ (was consumed) כָּל־ (all) הַמְּגִלָּ֔ה (the scroll) עַל־ (upon) הָאֵ֖שׁ (the fire) אֲשֶׁ֥ר (that was) עַל־ (on) הָאָֽח׃ (the hearth).

24  וְלֹ֣א (And not) פָחֲד֔וּ (they were afraid), וְלֹ֥א (and not) קָרְע֖וּ (did they tear) אֶת־ (-) בִּגְדֵיהֶ֑ם (their garments), הַמֶּ֙לֶךְ֙ (the king), וְכָל־ (and) עֲבָדָ֔יו (his servants) הַשֹּׁ֣מְעִ֔ים (who heard) אֵ֥ת (-) כָּל־ (all) הַדְּבָרִ֖ים (the words) הָאֵֽלֶּה׃ (these). 25  וְגַם֩ (And even) אֶלְנָתָ֨ן (Elnathan) וּדְלָיָ֤הוּ (and Delaiah) וּגְמַרְיָ֙הוּ֙ (and Gemariah) הִפְגִּ֣עוּ (implored) בַמֶּ֔לֶךְ (the king) לְבִלְתִּ֥י (to not) שְׂרֹ֖ף (burn) אֶת־ (-) הַמְּגִלָּ֑ה (the scroll), וְלֹ֥א (and he would not) שָׁמַ֖ע (listen) אֲלֵיהֶֽם׃ (to them). 26  וַיְצַוֶּ֣ה (Commanded) הַ֠מֶּלֶךְ (and the king) אֶת־ (-) יְרַחְמְאֵ֨ל (Jerahmeel) בֶּן־ (son) הַמֶּ֜לֶךְ (of the king), וְאֶת־ (and) שְׂרָיָ֣הוּ (Seraiah) בֶן־ (son) עַזְרִיאֵ֗ל (of Azriel), וְאֶת־ (and) שֶֽׁלֶמְיָ֙הוּ֙ (Shelemiah) בֶּֽן־ (son) עַבְדְּאֵ֔ל (of Abdeel), לָקַ֙חַת֙ (to seize) אֶת־ (-) בָּר֣וּךְ (Baruch) הַסֹּפֵ֔ר (the scribe) וְאֵ֖ת (and) יִרְמְיָ֣הוּ (Jeremiah) הַנָּבִ֑יא (the prophet), וַיַּסְתִּרֵ֖ם (and hid them away) יְהוָֽה׃ס (YHWH).

Jeremiah Rewrites the Scroll

27  וַיְהִ֥י (And came) דְבַר־ (the word) יְהוָ֖ה (of YHWH) אֶֽל־ (to) יִרְמְיָ֑הוּ (Jeremiah), אַחֲרֵ֣י׀ (after) שְׂרֹ֣ף (had burned) הַמֶּ֗לֶךְ (the king) אֶת־ (-) הַמְּגִלָּה֙ (the scroll), וְאֶת־ (and) הַדְּבָרִ֔ים (the words) אֲשֶׁ֨ר (that) כָּתַ֥ב (had written) בָּר֛וּךְ (Baruch) מִפִּ֥י (from the mouth) יִרְמְיָ֖הוּ (of Jeremiah), לֵאמֹֽר׃ (saying), 28  שׁ֥וּב (Return) קַח־ (take) לְךָ֖ (for yourself) מְגִלָּ֣ה (scroll), אַחֶ֑רֶת (another) וּכְתֹ֣ב (and write) עָלֶ֗יהָ (on it) אֵ֤ת (-) כָּל־ (all) הַדְּבָרִים֙ (words) הָרִ֣אשֹׁנִ֔ים (the former) אֲשֶׁ֣ר (that) הָי֗וּ (were) עַל־ (upon) הַמְּגִלָּה֙ (scroll), הָרִ֣אשֹׁנָ֔ה (the first) אֲשֶׁ֥ר (which) שָׂרַ֖ף (has burned). יְהוֹיָקִ֥ים (Jehoiakim) מֶֽלֶךְ־ (king) יְהוּדָֽה׃ (of Judah).

29  וְעַל־ (To) יְהוֹיָקִ֤ים (Jehoiakim) מֶֽלֶךְ־ (king) יְהוּדָה֙ (of Judah), תֹּאמַ֔ר (and you shall say) כֹּ֖ה (thus) אָמַ֣ר (says) יְהוָ֑ה (YHWH); אַ֠תָּה (You) שָׂרַ֜פְתָּ (have burned) אֶת־ (-) הַמְּגִלָּ֤ה (scroll), הַזֹּאת֙ (this) לֵאמֹ֔ר (saying), מַדּוּעַ֩ (Why) כָּתַ֨בְתָּ (have you written) עָלֶ֜יהָ (on it), לֵאמֹ֗ר (saying), בֹּֽא־ (coming) יָב֤וֹא (would come) מֶֽלֶךְ־ (the king) בָּבֶל֙ (of Babylon) וְהִשְׁחִית֙ (and destroy) אֶת־ (-) הָאָ֣רֶץ (land) הַזֹּ֔את (this), וְהִשְׁבִּ֥ית (and cause to cease) מִמֶּ֖נָּה (from it) אָדָ֥ם (man) וּבְהֵמָֽה׃ס (and beast)?

30  לָכֵ֞ן (Therefore) כֹּֽה־ (thus) אָמַ֣ר (says) יְהוָ֗ה (YHWH) עַל־ (concerning) יְהֽוֹיָקִים֙ (Jehoiakim) מֶ֣לֶךְ (king) יְהוּדָ֔ה (of Judah); לֹא־ (no one) יִֽהְיֶה־ (there will be) לּ֥וֹ (unto him) יוֹשֵׁ֖ב (to sit) עַל־ (on) כִּסֵּ֣א (the throne) דָוִ֑ד (of David), וְנִבְלָתוֹ֙ (and his dead body) תִּֽהְיֶ֣ה (will be) מֻשְׁלֶ֔כֶת (cast out) לַחֹ֥רֶב (into the heat), בַּיּ֖וֹם (of the day) וְלַקֶּ֥רַח (and into the frost) בַּלָּֽיְלָה׃ (of the night). 31  וּפָקַדְתִּ֨י (And I will visit punishment) עָלָ֧יו (upon him) וְעַל־ (and upon) זַרְע֛וֹ (his family) וְעַל־ (and upon) עֲבָדָ֖יו (his servants) אֶת־ (-) עֲוֺנָ֑ם (for their iniquity); וְהֵבֵאתִ֣י (and I will bring) עֲ֠לֵיהֶם (on them) וְעַל־ (and on) יֹשְׁבֵ֨י (the dwellers) יְרוּשָׁלִַ֜ם (of Jerusalem), וְאֶל־ (and on) אִ֣ישׁ (the men) יְהוּדָ֗ה (of Judah), אֵ֧ת (-) כָּל־ (all) הָרָעָ֛ה (the disaster) אֲשֶׁר־ (that) דִּבַּ֥רְתִּי (I have spoken) אֲלֵיהֶ֖ם (against them) וְלֹ֥א (and not) שָׁמֵֽעוּ׃ס (they did listen).

32  וְיִרְמְיָ֜הוּ (And Jeremiah) לָקַ֣ח׀ (took) מְגִלָּ֣ה (scroll), אַחֶ֗רֶת (another) וַֽיִּתְּנָהּ֮ (and gave it) אֶל־ (to) בָּר֣וּךְ (Baruch) בֶּן־ (son) נֵרִיָּהוּ֮ (of Neriah); הַסֹּפֵר֒ (the scribe), וַיִּכְתֹּ֤ב (and he wrote) עָלֶ֙יהָ֙ (on it) מִפִּ֣י (from the mouth) יִרְמְיָ֔הוּ (of Jeremiah) אֵ֚ת (-) כָּל־ (all) דִּבְרֵ֣י (the words) הַסֵּ֔פֶר (of the book) אֲשֶׁ֥ר (that) שָׂרַ֛ף (had burned) יְהוֹיָקִ֥ים (Jehoiakim) מֶֽלֶךְ־ (king) יְהוּדָ֖ה (of Judah) בָּאֵ֑שׁ (in the fire); וְע֨וֹד (and besides these) נוֹסַ֧ף (were added) עֲלֵיהֶ֛ם (to them) דְּבָרִ֥ים (words). רַבִּ֖ים (Many) כָּהֵֽמָּה׃ס (like).
