You Turned My Mourning into Dancing

מִזְמ֡וֹר (A Psalm). שִׁיר־ (A song for) חֲנֻכַּ֖ת (the dedication) הַבַּ֣יִת (of the house) לְדָוִֽד׃ (of David).

1אֲרוֹמִמְךָ֣ (I will exalt You), יְ֭הוָה (O YHWH),

כִּ֣י (for) דִלִּיתָ֑נִי (You have drawn me up),

וְלֹא־ (and not) שִׂמַּ֖חְתָּ (did you let rejoice)

אֹיְבַ֣י (my enemies) לִֽי׃ (over me).

2  יְהוָ֥ה (O YHWH) אֱלֹהָ֑י (my God), שִׁוַּ֥עְתִּי (I cried for help) אֵ֝לֶ֗יךָ (to You),

וַתִּרְפָּאֵֽנִי׃ (and You healed me).

3  יְֽהוָ֗ה (O YHWH), הֶֽעֱלִ֣יתָ (You have brought up) מִן־ (from) שְׁא֣וֹל (Sheol) נַפְשִׁ֑י (my soul);

חִ֝יִּיתַ֗נִי (You have kept me alive), מִיּוֹרְדֵי (from my going down) בֽוֹר׃ (to the Pit).

4  זַמְּר֣וּ (Make music) לַיהוָ֣ה (to YHWH), חֲסִידָ֑יו (His faithful ones),

וְ֝הוֹד֗וּ (and give thanks) לְזֵ֣כֶר (to the name) קָדְשֽׁוֹ׃ (of His holiness).

5  כִּ֤י (For) רֶ֨גַע׀ (a moment) בְּאַפּוֹ֮ (is His anger);

חַיִּ֪ים (for a lifetime) בִּרְצ֫וֹנ֥וֹ (is His favor).

בָּ֭עֶרֶב (In the night) יָלִ֥ין (lodges) בֶּ֗כִי (weeping),

וְלַבֹּ֥קֶר (and in the morning), רִנָּֽה׃ (joy).

6  וַ֭אֲנִי (And I) אָמַ֣רְתִּי (said) בְשַׁלְוִ֑י (in my prosperity),

בַּל־ (Not) אֶמּ֥וֹט (will I be shaken) לְעוֹלָֽם׃ (forever).

7  יְֽהוָ֗ה (O YHWH), בִּרְצוֹנְךָ֮ (by Your favor)

הֶעֱמַ֪דְתָּה (You have made stand) לְֽהַרְרִ֫י (my mountain) עֹ֥ז (strong);

הִסְתַּ֥רְתָּ (You have hidden) פָנֶ֗יךָ (Your face),

הָיִ֥יתִי (I was) נִבְהָֽל׃ (dismayed).

8  אֵלֶ֣יךָ (To You), יְהוָ֣ה (O YHWH), אֶקְרָ֑א (I called out),

וְאֶל־ (and to) אֲ֝דֹנָ֗י (my Lord) אֶתְחַנָּֽן׃ (I made supplication).

9  מַה־ (What) בֶּ֥צַע (profit is) בְּדָמִי֮ (in my blood),

בְּרִדְתִּ֪י (in my going down) אֶ֫ל־ (to) שָׁ֥חַת (the Pit)?

הֲיוֹדְךָ֥ (Will confess You) עָפָ֑ר (the dust)?

הֲיַגִּ֥יד (Will it declare) אֲמִתֶּֽךָ׃ (Your truth)?

10  שְׁמַע־ (Hear), יְהוָ֥ה (O YHWH), וְחָנֵּ֑נִי (and have mercy on me);

יְ֝הוָה (O YHWH), הֱ‍ֽיֵה־ (be) עֹזֵ֥ר (the One giving help) לִֽי׃ (to me).

11  הָפַ֣כְתָּ (You have turned) מִסְפְּדִי֮ (my mourning) לְמָח֪וֹל (to dancing) לִ֥י (for me);

פִּתַּ֥חְתָּ (You have opened) שַׂקִּ֑י (my sackcloth) וַֽתְּאַזְּרֵ֥נִי (and clothed me) שִׂמְחָֽה׃ (with gladness),

12  לְמַ֤עַן׀ (so that) יְזַמֶּרְךָ֣ (will sing praise to you) כָ֭בוֹד (my glory), וְלֹ֣א (and not) יִדֹּ֑ם (be silent).

יְהוָ֥ה (O YHWH), אֱ֝לֹהַ֗י (my God), לְעוֹלָ֥ם (forever) אוֹדֶֽךָּ׃ (will I give thanks to You).
