The Call to Repentance God's rebuke is an invitation to repentance. Believers should regularly examine their lives for areas of disobedience and turn back to God. Trust in God's Deliverance Despite Israel's failure, God raises up deliverers like Gideon. As the Amorites seem to have been the highlanders of Palestine, and the most powerful of all the Canaanitish tribes, their name is sometimes used for that of all the Canaanites (Joshua 24:15).
