| 1Now in those days a decree went out from Caesar Augustus that a census should be taken of the whole empire. | 1At that time the Roman emperor, Augustus, decreed that a census should be taken throughout the Roman Empire. |

| 25Now there was a man in Jerusalem named Simeon, who was righteous and devout. | 28Simeon took Him in his arms and blessed God, saying: | 28Simeon was there. He took the child in his arms and praised God, saying, |

| 36There was also a prophetess named Anna, the daughter of Phanuel, of the tribe of Asher, who was well along in years.
