Give thanks to the LORD! Call on his name! Make known his accomplishments among the nations! 1Oh give thanks to the LORD; call upon his name; make known his deeds among the peoples!
Sing to him! Make music to him! Tell about all his miraculous deeds! 2Sing to him, sing praises to him; tell of all his wondrous works!
Boast about his holy name! Let the hearts of those who seek the LORD rejoice! 3Glory in his holy name; let the hearts of those who seek the LORD rejoice!
Seek the LORD and the strength he gives! Seek his presence continually! 4Seek the LORD and his strength; seek his presence continually!
Recall the miraculous deeds he performed, his mighty acts and the judgments he decreed, 5Remember the wondrous works that he has done, his miracles, and the judgments he uttered,
O children of Abraham, God's servant, you descendants of Jacob, God's chosen ones! 6O offspring of Abraham, his servant, children of Jacob, his chosen ones!
He is the LORD our God; he carries out judgment throughout the earth. 7He is the LORD our God; his judgments are in all the earth.
He always remembers his covenantal decree, the promise he made to a thousand generations--8He remembers his covenant forever, the word that he commanded, for a thousand generations,
the promise he made to Abraham, the promise he made by oath to Isaac! 9the covenant that he made with Abraham, his sworn promise to Isaac,
He gave it to Jacob as a decree, to Israel as a lasting promise, 10which he confirmed to Jacob as a statute, to Israel as an everlasting covenant,
saying, "To you I will give the land of Canaan as the portion of your inheritance." 11saying, “To you I will give the land of Canaan as your portion for an inheritance.”
When they were few in number, just a very few, and resident aliens within it, 12When they were few in number, of little account, and sojourners in it,
they wandered from nation to nation, and from one kingdom to another. 13wandering from nation to nation, from one kingdom to another people,
He let no one oppress them; he disciplined kings for their sake, 14he allowed no one to oppress them; he rebuked kings on their account,
saying, "Don't touch my chosen ones! Don't harm my prophets!" 15saying, “Touch not my anointed ones, do my prophets no harm!”
He called down a famine upon the earth; he cut off all the food supply. 16When he summoned a famine on the land and broke all supply of bread,
He sent a man ahead of them--Joseph was sold as a servant. 17he had sent a man ahead of them, Joseph, who was sold as a slave.
The shackles hurt his feet; his neck was placed in an iron collar, 18His feet were hurt with fetters; his neck was put in a collar of iron;
until the time when his prediction came true. The LORD's word proved him right. 19until what he had said came to pass, the word of the LORD tested him.
The king authorized his release; the ruler of nations set him free. 20The king sent and released him; the ruler of the peoples set him free;
He put him in charge of his palace, and made him manager of all his property, 21he made him lord of his house and ruler of all his possessions,
giving him authority to imprison his officials and to teach his advisers. 22to bind his princes at his pleasure and to teach his elders wisdom.
Israel moved to Egypt; Jacob lived for a time in the land of Ham. 23Then Israel came to Egypt; Jacob sojourned in the land of Ham.
The LORD made his people very fruitful, and made them more numerous than their enemies. 24And the LORD made his people very fruitful and made them stronger than their foes.
He caused them to hate his people, and to mistreat his servants. 25He turned their hearts to hate his people, to deal craftily with his servants.
He sent his servant Moses, and Aaron, whom he had chosen. 26He sent Moses, his servant, and Aaron, whom he had chosen.
They executed his miraculous signs among them, and his amazing deeds in the land of Ham. 27They performed his signs among them and miracles in the land of Ham.
He made it dark; they did not disobey his orders. 28He sent darkness, and made the land dark; they did not rebel against his words.
He turned their water into blood, and killed their fish. 29He turned their waters into blood and caused their fish to die.
Their land was overrun by frogs, which even got into the rooms of their kings. 30Their land swarmed with frogs, even in the chambers of their kings.
He ordered flies to come; gnats invaded their whole territory. 31He spoke, and there came swarms of flies, and gnats throughout their country.
He sent hail along with the rain; there was lightning in their land. 32He gave them hail for rain, and fiery lightning bolts through their land.
He destroyed their vines and fig trees, and broke the trees throughout their territory. 33He struck down their vines and fig trees, and shattered the trees of their country.
He ordered locusts to come, innumerable grasshoppers. 34He spoke, and the locusts came, young locusts without number,
They ate all the vegetation in their land, and devoured the crops of their fields. 35which devoured all the vegetation in their land and ate up the fruit of their ground.
He struck down all the firstborn in their land, the firstfruits of their reproductive power. 36He struck down all the firstborn in their land, the firstfruits of all their strength.
He brought his people out enriched with silver and gold; none of his tribes stumbled. 37Then he brought out Israel with silver and gold, and there was none among his tribes who stumbled.
Egypt was happy when they left, for they were afraid of them. 38Egypt was glad when they departed, for dread of them had fallen upon it.
He spread out a cloud for a cover, and provided a fire to light up the night. 39He spread a cloud for a covering, and fire to give light by night.
They asked for food, and he sent quails; he satisfied them with food from the sky. 40They asked, and he brought quail, and gave them bread from heaven in abundance.
He opened up a rock and water flowed out; a river ran through dry regions. 41He opened the rock, and water gushed out; it flowed through the desert like a river.
Yes, he remembered the sacred promise he made to Abraham his servant. 42For he remembered his holy promise, and Abraham, his servant.
When he led his people out, they rejoiced; his chosen ones shouted with joy. 43So he brought his people out with joy, his chosen ones with singing.
He handed the territory of nations over to them, and they took possession of what other peoples had produced, 44And he gave them the lands of the nations, and they took possession of the fruit of the peoples’ toil,
so that they might keep his commands and obey his laws. Praise the LORD! 45that they might keep his statutes and observe his laws. Praise the LORD!
