NET BibleNew Living Translation
Give thanks to the LORD! Call on his name! Make known his accomplishments among the nations! 1Give thanks to the LORD and proclaim his greatness. Let the whole world know what he has done.
Sing to him! Make music to him! Tell about all his miraculous deeds! 2Sing to him; yes, sing his praises. Tell everyone about his wonderful deeds.
Boast about his holy name! Let the hearts of those who seek the LORD rejoice! 3Exult in his holy name; rejoice, you who worship the LORD.
Seek the LORD and the strength he gives! Seek his presence continually! 4Search for the LORD and for his strength; continually seek him.
Recall the miraculous deeds he performed, his mighty acts and the judgments he decreed, 5Remember the wonders he has performed, his miracles, and the rulings he has given,
O children of Abraham, God's servant, you descendants of Jacob, God's chosen ones! 6you children of his servant Abraham, you descendants of Jacob, his chosen ones.
He is the LORD our God; he carries out judgment throughout the earth. 7He is the LORD our God. His justice is seen throughout the land.
He always remembers his covenantal decree, the promise he made to a thousand generations--8He always stands by his covenant— the commitment he made to a thousand generations.
the promise he made to Abraham, the promise he made by oath to Isaac! 9This is the covenant he made with Abraham and the oath he swore to Isaac.
He gave it to Jacob as a decree, to Israel as a lasting promise, 10He confirmed it to Jacob as a decree, and to the people of Israel as a never-ending covenant:
saying, "To you I will give the land of Canaan as the portion of your inheritance." 11“I will give you the land of Canaan as your special possession.”
When they were few in number, just a very few, and resident aliens within it, 12He said this when they were few in number, a tiny group of strangers in Canaan.
they wandered from nation to nation, and from one kingdom to another. 13They wandered from nation to nation, from one kingdom to another.
He let no one oppress them; he disciplined kings for their sake, 14Yet he did not let anyone oppress them. He warned kings on their behalf:
saying, "Don't touch my chosen ones! Don't harm my prophets!" 15“Do not touch my chosen people, and do not hurt my prophets.”
He called down a famine upon the earth; he cut off all the food supply. 16He called for a famine on the land of Canaan, cutting off its food supply.
He sent a man ahead of them--Joseph was sold as a servant. 17Then he sent someone to Egypt ahead of them— Joseph, who was sold as a slave.
The shackles hurt his feet; his neck was placed in an iron collar, 18They bruised his feet with fetters and placed his neck in an iron collar.
until the time when his prediction came true. The LORD's word proved him right. 19Until the time came to fulfill his dreams, the LORD tested Joseph’s character.
The king authorized his release; the ruler of nations set him free. 20Then Pharaoh sent for him and set him free; the ruler of the nation opened his prison door.
He put him in charge of his palace, and made him manager of all his property, 21Joseph was put in charge of all the king’s household; he became ruler over all the king’s possessions.
giving him authority to imprison his officials and to teach his advisers. 22He could instruct the king’s aides as he pleased and teach the king’s advisers.
Israel moved to Egypt; Jacob lived for a time in the land of Ham. 23Then Israel arrived in Egypt; Jacob lived as a foreigner in the land of Ham.
The LORD made his people very fruitful, and made them more numerous than their enemies. 24And the LORD multiplied the people of Israel until they became too mighty for their enemies.
He caused them to hate his people, and to mistreat his servants. 25Then he turned the Egyptians against the Israelites, and they plotted against the LORD’s servants.
He sent his servant Moses, and Aaron, whom he had chosen. 26But the LORD sent his servant Moses, along with Aaron, whom he had chosen.
They executed his miraculous signs among them, and his amazing deeds in the land of Ham. 27They performed miraculous signs among the Egyptians, and wonders in the land of Ham.
He made it dark; they did not disobey his orders. 28The LORD blanketed Egypt in darkness, for they had defied his commands to let his people go.
He turned their water into blood, and killed their fish. 29He turned their water into blood, poisoning all the fish.
Their land was overrun by frogs, which even got into the rooms of their kings. 30Then frogs overran the land and even invaded the king’s bedrooms.
He ordered flies to come; gnats invaded their whole territory. 31When the LORD spoke, flies descended on the Egyptians, and gnats swarmed across Egypt.
He sent hail along with the rain; there was lightning in their land. 32He sent them hail instead of rain, and lightning flashed over the land.
He destroyed their vines and fig trees, and broke the trees throughout their territory. 33He ruined their grapevines and fig trees and shattered all the trees.
He ordered locusts to come, innumerable grasshoppers. 34He spoke, and hordes of locusts came— young locusts beyond number.
They ate all the vegetation in their land, and devoured the crops of their fields. 35They ate up everything green in the land, destroying all the crops in their fields.
He struck down all the firstborn in their land, the firstfruits of their reproductive power. 36Then he killed the oldest son in each Egyptian home, the pride and joy of each family.
He brought his people out enriched with silver and gold; none of his tribes stumbled. 37The LORD brought his people out of Egypt, loaded with silver and gold; and not one among the tribes of Israel even stumbled.
Egypt was happy when they left, for they were afraid of them. 38Egypt was glad when they were gone, for they feared them greatly.
He spread out a cloud for a cover, and provided a fire to light up the night. 39The LORD spread a cloud above them as a covering and gave them a great fire to light the darkness.
They asked for food, and he sent quails; he satisfied them with food from the sky. 40They asked for meat, and he sent them quail; he satisfied their hunger with manna—bread from heaven.
He opened up a rock and water flowed out; a river ran through dry regions. 41He split open a rock, and water gushed out to form a river through the dry wasteland.
Yes, he remembered the sacred promise he made to Abraham his servant. 42For he remembered his sacred promise to his servant Abraham.
When he led his people out, they rejoiced; his chosen ones shouted with joy. 43So he brought his people out of Egypt with joy, his chosen ones with rejoicing.
He handed the territory of nations over to them, and they took possession of what other peoples had produced, 44He gave his people the lands of pagan nations, and they harvested crops that others had planted.
so that they might keep his commands and obey his laws. Praise the LORD! 45All this happened so they would follow his decrees and obey his instructions. Praise the LORD!
