1 Some time later, David defeated the Philistines, subdued them, and took Gath and its villages from the hand of the Philistines. After this David defeated the Philistines and subdued them, and he took Gath and its villages out of the hand of the Philistines. Now after this it came to pass, that David smote the Philistines, and subdued them, and took Gath and her towns out of the hand of the Philistines. Now after this it came about that David defeated the Philistines and subdued them and took Gath and its towns from the hand of the Philistines. In the course of time, David defeated the Philistines and subdued them, and he took Gath and its surrounding villages from the control of the Philistines.
2 David also defeated the Moabites, and they became subject to David and brought him tribute. And he defeated Moab, and the Moabites became servants to David and brought tribute. And he smote Moab; and the Moabites became David's servants, <i>and</i> brought gifts. And he defeated Moab, and the Moabites became servants to David, bringing tribute. David also defeated the Moabites, and they became subject to him and brought him tribute.
3 As far as Hamath, David also defeated King Hadadezer of Zobah, who had marched out to establish his dominion along the Euphrates River. David also defeated Hadadezer king of Zobah-Hamath, as he went to set up his monument at the river Euphrates. And David smote Hadarezer king of Zobah unto Hamath, as he went to stablish his dominion by the river Euphrates. David also defeated Hadadezer king of Zobah <i>as far as</i> Hamath, as he went to establish his rule to the river Euphrates. Moreover, David defeated Hadadezer king of Zobah, in the vicinity of Hamath, when he went to set up his monument at the Euphrates River.
4 David captured from him a thousand chariots, seven thousand charioteers, and twenty thousand foot soldiers, and he hamstrung all the horses except a hundred he kept for the chariots. And David took from him 1,000 chariots, 7,000 horsemen, and 20,000 foot soldiers. And David hamstrung all the chariot horses, but left enough for 100 chariots. And David took from him a thousand chariots, and seven thousand horsemen, and twenty thousand footmen: David also houghed all the chariot <i>horses</i>, but reserved of them an hundred chariots. David took from him a thousand chariots and seven thousand horsemen and twenty thousand foot soldiers, and David hamstrung <i>almost</i> all the chariot horses, but left <i>enough</i> of them for a hundred chariots. 5 When the Arameans of Damascus came to help King Hadadezer of Zobah, David struck down twenty-two thousand men. And when the Syrians of Damascus came to help Hadadezer king of Zobah, David struck down 22,000 men of the Syrians. And when the Syrians of Damascus came to help Hadarezer king of Zobah, David slew of the Syrians two and twenty thousand men. When the Arameans of Damascus came to help Hadadezer king of Zobah, David killed twenty-two thousand men of the Arameans. When the Arameans of Damascus came to help Hadadezer king of Zobah, David struck down twenty-two thousand of them.
6 Then he placed garrisons in Aram of Damascus, and the Arameans became subject to David and brought him tribute. So the LORD made David victorious wherever he went. Then David put garrisons in Syria of Damascus, and the Syrians became servants to David and brought tribute. And the LORD gave victory to David wherever he went. Then David put <i>garrisons</i> in Syriadamascus; and the Syrians became David's servants, <i>and</i> brought gifts. Thus the LORD preserved David whithersoever he went. Then David put <i>garrisons</i> among the Arameans of Damascus; and the Arameans became servants to David, bringing tribute. And the LORD helped David wherever he went. He put garrisons in the Aramean kingdom of Damascus, and the Arameans became subject to him and brought him tribute. The LORD gave David victory wherever he went.
7 And David took the gold shields that belonged to the officers of Hadadezer and brought them to Jerusalem. And David took the shields of gold that were carried by the servants of Hadadezer and brought them to Jerusalem. And David took the shields of gold that were on the servants of Hadarezer, and brought them to Jerusalem. And David took the shields of gold which were carried by the servants of Hadadezer, and brought them to Jerusalem. From Tebah and Kun, towns that belonged to Hadadezer, David took a great quantity of bronze, which Solomon used to make the bronze Sea, the pillars and various bronze articles.
9 When King Tou of Hamath heard that David had defeated the entire army of Hadadezer king of Zobah, When Tou king of Hamath heard that David had defeated the whole army of Hadadezer, king of Zobah, Now when Tou king of Hamath heard how David had smitten all the host of Hadarezer king of Zobah; Now when Tou king of Hamath heard that David had defeated all the army of Hadadezer king of Zobah, When Tou king of Hamath heard that David had defeated the entire army of Hadadezer king of Zobah,
10 he sent his son Hadoram to greet King David and bless him for fighting and defeating Hadadezer, who had been at war with Tou. Hadoram brought all kinds of articles of gold and silver and bronze, he sent his son Hadoram to King David, to ask about his health and to bless him because he had fought against Hadadezer and defeated him; for Hadadezer had often been at war with Tou. And he sent all sorts of articles of gold, of silver, and of bronze. He sent Hadoram his son to king David, to inquire of his welfare, and to congratulate him, because he had fought against Hadarezer, and smitten him; (for Hadarezer had war with Tou;) and <i>with him</i> all manner of vessels of gold and silver and brass. he sent Hadoram his son to King David to greet him and to bless him, because he had fought against Hadadezer and had defeated him; for Hadadezer had been at war with Tou. And <i>Hadoram brought</i> all kinds of articles of gold and silver and bronze. he sent his son Hadoram to King David to greet him and congratulate him on his victory in battle over Hadadezer, who had been at war with Tou. 11 and King David dedicated these to the LORD, along with the silver and gold he had carried off from all these nations— from Edom and Moab, and from the Ammonites, Philistines, and Amalekites. 12 Moreover, Abishai son of Zeruiah struck down eighteen thousand Edomites in the Valley of Salt. And Abishai, the son of Zeruiah, killed 18,000 Edomites in the Valley of Salt. Moreover Abishai the son of Zeruiah slew of the Edomites in the valley of salt eighteen thousand. Moreover, Abishai the son of Zeruiah defeated eighteen thousand Edomites in the Valley of Salt.
