The Heavens Declare the Glory of God

לַמְנַצֵּ֗חַ (For the one directing). מִזְמ֥וֹר (A Psalm) לְדָוִֽד׃ (of David).

1הַשָּׁמַ֗יִם (The heavens) מְֽסַפְּרִ֥ים (are recounting) כְּבֽוֹד־ (the glory) אֵ֑ל (of God),

וּֽמַעֲשֵׂ֥ה (and the work) יָ֝דָ֗יו (of His hands) מַגִּ֥יד (is declaring) הָרָקִֽיעַ׃ (the firmament).

2  י֣וֹם (Day) לְ֭יוֹם (after day) יַבִּ֣יעַֽ (it pours forth) אֹ֑מֶר (speech),

וְלַ֥יְלָה (and night) לְּ֝לַ֗יְלָה (after night) יְחַוֶּה־ (it shows forth) דָּֽעַת׃ (knowledge).

3  אֵֽין־ (Without) אֹ֭מֶר (speech) וְאֵ֣ין (and without) דְּבָרִ֑ים (words),

בְּ֝לִ֗י (not) נִשְׁמָ֥ע (being heard) קוֹלָֽם׃ (their voice),

4  בְּכָל־ (into all) הָאָ֨רֶץ׀ (the earth) יָ֘צָ֤א (has gone out) קַוָּ֗ם (their line),

וּבִקְצֵ֣ה (and to the end) תֵ֭בֵל (of the world) מִלֵּיהֶ֑ם (their words).

לַ֝שֶּׁ֗מֶשׁ (For the sun) שָֽׂם־ (He has placed) אֹ֥הֶל (a tent)

בָּהֶֽם׃ (in them),

5  וְה֗וּא (and it) כְּ֭חָתָן (like a bridegroom) יֹצֵ֣א (going forth) מֵחֻפָּת֑וֹ (from his chamber)

יָשִׂ֥ישׂ (rejoicing) כְּ֝גִבּ֗וֹר (like a strong man) לָר֥וּץ (to run) אֹֽרַח׃ (the path).

6  מִקְצֵ֤ה (From one end) הַשָּׁמַ֨יִם׀ (of the heavens) מֽוֹצָא֗וֹ (is his going forth),

וּתְקוּפָת֥וֹ (and his circuit) עַל־ (is upon) קְצוֹתָ֑ם (their ends),

וְאֵ֥ין (and there is nothing) נִ֝סְתָּ֗ר (being hidden) מֵֽחַמָּתוֹ׃ (from his heat).

7  תּ֘וֹרַ֤ת (The law) יְהוָ֣ה (of YHWH) תְּ֭מִימָה (is perfect),

מְשִׁ֣יבַת (refreshing) נָ֑פֶשׁ (the soul);

עֵד֥וּת (the testimony) יְהוָ֥ה (of YHWH) נֶ֝אֱמָנָ֗ה (is sure),

מַחְכִּ֥ימַת (making wise) פֶּֽתִי׃ (the simple).

8  פִּקּ֘וּדֵ֤י (The statutes) יְהוָ֣ה (of YHWH) יְ֭שָׁרִים (are straight),

מְשַׂמְּחֵי־ (making glad) לֵ֑ב (the heart);

מִצְוַ֥ת (the commandment) יְהוָ֥ה (of YHWH) בָּ֝רָ֗ה (is pure),

מְאִירַ֥ת (bringing light) עֵינָֽיִם׃ (to the eyes).

9  יִרְאַ֤ת (The fear) יְהוָ֨ה׀ (of YHWH) טְהוֹרָה֮ (is pure),

עוֹמֶ֪דֶת (standing) לָ֫עַ֥ד (forever);

מִֽשְׁפְּטֵי־ (the judgments) יְהוָ֥ה (of YHWH) אֱמֶ֑ת (are true),

צָֽדְק֥וּ (being righteous) יַחְדָּֽו׃ (altogether).

10  הַֽנֶּחֱמָדִ֗ים (Being desired) מִ֭זָּהָב (above gold),

וּמִפַּ֣ז (and above pure gold) רָ֑ב (much),

וּמְתוּקִ֥ים (and sweeter) מִ֝דְּבַ֗שׁ (than honey)

וְנֹ֣פֶת (and flowing honey) צוּפִֽים׃ (from the honeycomb).

11  גַּֽם־ (Indeed) עַ֭בְדְּךָ (Your servant) נִזְהָ֣ר (is warned) בָּהֶ֑ם (by them),

בְּ֝שָׁמְרָ֗ם (in keeping them) עֵ֣קֶב (is reward) רָֽב׃ (great).

12  שְׁגִיא֥וֹת (His errors) מִֽי־ (who) יָבִ֑ין (can discern)?

מִֽנִּסְתָּר֥וֹת (From the hidden) נַקֵּֽנִי׃ (cleanse me).

13  גַּ֤ם (Also) מִזֵּדִ֨ים׀ (from proud things) חֲשֹׂ֬ךְ (hold back) עַבְדֶּ֗ךָ (Your servant);

אַֽל־ (not) יִמְשְׁלוּ־ (should they rule) בִ֣י (over me).

אָ֣ז (Then) אֵיתָ֑ם (I shall be complete),

וְ֝נִקֵּ֗יתִי (and cleansed) מִפֶּ֥שַֽׁע (from transgression) רָֽב׃ (of great).

14  יִֽהְי֥וּ (Let them be) לְרָצ֨וֹן׀ (for your favor)

אִמְרֵי־ (the words) פִ֡י (of my mouth),

וְהֶגְי֣וֹן (and the meditation) לִבִּ֣י (of my heart), לְפָנֶ֑יךָ (before Your face),

יְ֝הוָ֗ה (O YHWH), צוּרִ֥י (my Rock) וְגֹאֲלִֽי׃ (and my Redeemer).
