Awareness of God

The concept of God's awareness is foundational to understanding His nature and His relationship with creation. Scripture affirms that God is omniscient, meaning He possesses complete and perfect knowledge of all things, past, present, and future. This divine attribute is evident in numerous passages throughout the Bible.

Psalm 139:1-4 beautifully captures God's intimate knowledge of individuals: "O LORD, You have searched me and known me. You know when I sit and when I rise; You understand my thoughts from afar. You search out my path and my lying down; You are aware of all my ways. Even before a word is on my tongue, You know all about it, O LORD."

God's awareness extends beyond human actions and thoughts to encompass the entire universe. Hebrews 4:13 states, "Nothing in all creation is hidden from God’s sight; everything is uncovered and exposed before the eyes of Him to whom we must give account." This verse underscores the comprehensive scope of God's knowledge, affirming that nothing escapes His notice.

Response of God

God's response to His creation is characterized by His perfect wisdom, justice, and love. His awareness is not passive; rather, it prompts Him to act in accordance with His divine will and purposes.

1. Providence and Care: God's awareness leads to His providential care for His creation. Jesus reassures His followers of God's attentive care in Matthew 6:26 : "Look at the birds of the air: They do not sow or reap or gather into barns—and yet your Heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they?" This passage highlights God's active involvement in sustaining and providing for His creation.

2. Judgment and Justice: God's response also includes His righteous judgment. In Ecclesiastes 12:14 , it is written, "For God will bring every deed into judgment, along with every hidden thing, whether good or evil." God's awareness ensures that His judgments are just and that He holds individuals accountable for their actions.

3. Mercy and Grace: God's response is also marked by His mercy and grace. In His awareness of human sinfulness, God provided a means of redemption through Jesus Christ. Romans 5:8 declares, "But God proves His love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us." This act of grace demonstrates God's loving response to humanity's greatest need.

4. Guidance and Instruction: God responds to His people by providing guidance and instruction through His Word and the Holy Spirit. Psalm 32:8 promises, "I will instruct you and teach you the way you should go; I will give you counsel and watch over you." God's awareness of our circumstances and needs leads Him to offer direction and wisdom.

5. Intercession and Advocacy: In His awareness of human frailty, God provides intercession through Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit. Romans 8:26-27 explains, "In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit Himself intercedes for us with groans too deep for words. And He who searches our hearts knows the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for the saints according to the will of God."

God's awareness and response are integral to His relationship with creation, reflecting His omniscience, justice, love, and grace. Through His providential care, righteous judgment, and redemptive work, God actively engages with His creation, demonstrating His perfect knowledge and sovereign will.
