Waiting on God

לַמְנַצֵּ֥חַ (For the one directing). עַֽל־ (According to) יְדוּת֗וּן (Jeduthun). מִזְמ֥וֹר (A Psalm) לְדָוִֽד׃ (of David).

1אַ֣ךְ (Only) אֶל־ (toward) אֱ֭לֹהִים (God) דּֽוּמִיָּ֣ה (silent) נַפְשִׁ֑י (is my soul);

מִ֝מֶּ֗נּוּ (from Him) יְשׁוּעָתִֽי׃ (is my salvation).

2  אַךְ־ (Only) ה֣וּא (He is) צ֭וּרִי (my Rock) וִֽישׁוּעָתִ֑י (and my salvation),

מִ֝שְׂגַּבִּ֗י (and My tower);

לֹא־ (not) אֶמּ֥וֹט (will I be shaken) רַבָּֽה׃ (much).

3  עַד־ (Until) אָ֤נָה׀ (when) תְּהֽוֹתְת֣וּ (will you⁺ plot) עַל (against) אִישׁ֮ (a man)?

תְּרָצְּח֪וּ (You⁺ are destroyed), כֻ֫לְּכֶ֥ם (all of you⁺),

כְּקִ֥יר (like a wall) נָט֑וּי (leaning),

גָּ֝דֵ֗ר (a fence) הַדְּחוּיָֽה׃ (being pushed down).

4  אַ֤ךְ (Surely) מִשְּׂאֵת֨וֹ׀ (from his high position) יָעֲצ֣וּ (they counsel) לְהַדִּיחַ֮ (to thrust him down);

יִרְצ֪וּ (they delight in) כָ֫זָ֥ב (lies).

בְּפִ֥יו (With their mouth) יְבָרֵ֑כוּ (they bless),

וּ֝בְקִרְבָּ֗ם (and within them) יְקַלְלוּ־ (they curse).

סֶֽלָה׃ (Selah)

5  אַ֣ךְ (Only) לֵ֭אלֹהִים (for God) דּ֣וֹמִּי (be silent), נַפְשִׁ֑י (O my soul),

כִּי־ (for) מִ֝מֶּ֗נּוּ (from Him) תִּקְוָתִֽי׃ (is my hope).

6  אַךְ־ (Only) ה֣וּא (He is) צ֭וּרִי (my Rock) וִֽישׁוּעָתִ֑י (and my salvation),

מִ֝שְׂגַּבִּ֗י (my secure height); לֹ֣א (I will not) אֶמּֽוֹט׃ (shall I be shaken).

7  עַל־ (In) אֱ֭לֹהִים (God is) יִשְׁעִ֣י (my salvation) וּכְבוֹדִ֑י (and my glory);

צוּר־ (the Rock) עֻזִּ֥י (of my strength),

מַ֝חְסִ֗י (and my refuge is) בֵּֽאלֹהִֽים׃ (in God).

8  בִּטְח֘וּ (Trust) ב֤וֹ (in Him) בְכָל־ (at all) עֵ֨ת׀ (times), עָ֗ם (O people);

שִׁפְכֽוּ־ (pour out) לְפָנָ֥יו (before Him) לְבַבְכֶ֑ם (your⁺ heart);

אֱלֹהִ֖ים (God is) מַחֲסֶה־ (is a refuge) לָּ֣נוּ (for us).

סֶֽלָה׃ (Selah)

9  אַ֤ךְ׀ (Only) הֶ֥בֶל (a vapor) בְּנֵֽי־ (are the sons) אָדָם֮ (of a man);

כָּזָ֪ב (a lie) בְּנֵ֫י (are the sons) אִ֥ישׁ (of a man).

בְּמֹאזְנַ֥יִם (In the scales) לַעֲל֑וֹת (go up) הֵ֝֗מָּה (they),

מֵהֶ֥בֶל (as a vapor) יָֽחַד׃ (together).

10  אַל־ (Not) תִּבְטְח֣וּ (should you⁺ trust) בְעֹשֶׁק֮ (in oppression),

וּבְגָזֵ֪ל (in robbery) אַל־ (not) תֶּ֫הְבָּ֥לוּ (be vain);

חַ֤יִל׀ (on wealth) כִּֽי־ (when) יָנ֑וּב (it increases),

אַל־ (not) תָּשִׁ֥יתוּ (should you⁺ set) לֵֽב׃ (the heart).

11  אַחַ֤ת׀ (Once) דִּבֶּ֬ר (has spoken) אֱלֹהִ֗ים (God);

שְׁתַּֽיִם־ (twice) ז֥וּ (this) שָׁמָ֑עְתִּי (I have heard),

כִּ֥י (that) עֹ֝֗ז (strength) לֵאלֹהִֽים׃ (is unto God),

12  וּלְךָֽ־ (and unto You) אֲדֹנָ֥י (O Lord), חָ֑סֶד (is loving devotion).

כִּֽי־ (For) אַתָּ֨ה (You) תְשַׁלֵּ֖ם (do recompense) לְאִ֣ישׁ (to each man)

כְּֽמַעֲשֵֽׂהוּ׃ (according to his work).
