Josiah Reigns in Judah
(2 Kings 22:1–2)

1  בֶּן־ (A son) שְׁמוֹנֶ֥ה (of eight) שָׁנִ֖ים (years) יֹאשִׁיָּ֣הוּ (Josiah was) בְמָלְכ֑וֹ (in his reigning), וּשְׁלֹשִׁ֤ים (and thirty) וְאַחַת֙ (and one) שָׁנָ֔ה (years) מָלַ֖ךְ (he reigned) בִּירוּשָׁלִָֽם׃ (in Jerusalem). 2  וַיַּ֥עַשׂ (And he did) הַיָּשָׁ֖ר (right) בְּעֵינֵ֣י (in the eyes) יְהוָ֑ה (of YHWH) וַיֵּ֗לֶךְ (and walked) בְּדַרְכֵי֙ (in the ways) דָּוִ֣יד (of David) אָבִ֔יו (his father), וְלֹא־ (and not) סָ֖ר (he did turn aside) יָמִ֥ין (to the right hand) וּשְׂמֹֽאול׃ (or to the left).

Josiah Destroys Idolatry
(1 Kings 13:1–10; 2 Kings 23:4–20)

3  וּבִשְׁמוֹנֶ֨ה (And in the eighth) שָׁנִ֜ים (year) לְמָלְכ֗וֹ (of his reign) וְהוּא֙ (and he) עוֹדֶ֣נּוּ (was still) נַ֔עַר (young)) הֵחֵ֕ל (he began) לִדְר֕וֹשׁ (to seek) לֵאלֹהֵ֖י (the God) דָּוִ֣יד (of David) אָבִ֑יו (his father), וּבִשְׁתֵּ֧ים (and in the two) עֶשְׂרֵ֣ה (and tenth) שָׁנָ֗ה (year) הֵחֵל֙ (he began) לְטַהֵ֔ר (to purge) אֶת־ (-) יְהוּדָה֙ (Judah) וִיר֣וּשָׁלִַ֔ם (and Jerusalem) מִן־ (of) הַבָּמוֹת֙ (the high places), וְהָ֣אֲשֵׁרִ֔ים (and the Asherah poles), וְהַפְּסִלִ֖ים (and the carved images), וְהַמַּסֵּכֽוֹת׃ (and the molten images). 4  וַיְנַתְּצ֣וּ (And they broke down) לְפָנָ֗יו (in his presence) אֵ֚ת (-) מִזְבְּח֣וֹת (the altars) הַבְּעָלִ֔ים (of the Baals) וְהַֽחַמָּנִ֛ים (and the incense altars) אֲשֶׁר־ (that were) לְמַ֥עְלָה (on high) מֵעֲלֵיהֶ֖ם (above them), גִּדֵּ֑עַ (he cut down). וְ֠הָאֲשֵׁרִים (And the Asherah poles), וְהַפְּסִלִ֤ים (and the carved images), וְהַמַּסֵּכוֹת֙ (and the molten images), שִׁבַּ֣ר (he broke in pieces) וְהֵדַ֔ק (and made dust of them), וַיִּזְרֹק֙ (and he scattered it) עַל־ (on) פְּנֵ֣י (the surface) הַקְּבָרִ֔ים (of the graves) הַזֹּבְחִ֖ים (of those who had sacrificed) לָהֶֽם׃ (to them). 5  וְעַצְמוֹת֙ (And the bones) כֹּֽהֲנִ֔ים (of the priests) שָׂרַ֖ף (he burned) עַל־ (on) מִזְבְּחוֹתָים (their altars), וַיְטַהֵ֥ר (and he cleansed) אֶת־ (-) יְהוּדָ֖ה (Judah) וְאֶת־ (and) יְרוּשָׁלִָֽם׃ (Jerusalem), 6  וּבְעָרֵ֨י (and in the cities) מְנַשֶּׁ֧ה (of Manasseh), וְאֶפְרַ֛יִם (and Ephraim), וְשִׁמְע֖וֹן (and Simeon), וְעַד־ (and as far as) נַפְתָּלִ֑י (Naphtali), בְּהַר (and in the ruins) בָּתֵּיהֶם (of them) סָבִֽיב׃ (round about). 7  וַיְנַתֵּ֣ץ (And he broke down) אֶת־ (-) הַֽמִּזְבְּח֗וֹת (the altars) וְאֶת־ (and) הָאֲשֵׁרִ֤ים (the Asherah poles), וְהַפְּסִלִים֙ (and the carved images) כִּתַּ֣ת (he beat to pieces) לְהֵדַ֔ק (to grinding), וְכָל־ (and all) הַֽחַמָּנִ֥ים (the incense altars) גִּדַּ֖ע (he cut down) בְּכָל־ (throughout all) אֶ֣רֶץ (the land) יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל (of Israel). וַיָּ֖שָׁב (And he returned) לִירוּשָׁלִָֽם׃ס (to Jerusalem).

Josiah Repairs the Temple
(2 Kings 22:3–7)

8  וּבִשְׁנַ֨ת (And in the year) שְׁמוֹנֶ֤ה (eight) עֶשְׂרֵה֙ (and tenth) לְמָלְכ֔וֹ (of his reign), לְטַהֵ֥ר (to purify) הָאָ֖רֶץ (the land) וְהַבָּ֑יִת (and the house), שָׁ֠לַח (he sent) אֶת־ (-) שָׁפָ֨ן (Shaphan) בֶּן־ (son) אֲצַלְיָ֜הוּ (of Azaliah), וְאֶת־ (and) מַעֲשֵׂיָ֣הוּ (Maaseiah) שַׂר־ (the governor) הָעִ֗יר (of the city), וְ֠אֵת (and) יוֹאָ֤ח (Joah) בֶּן־ (son) יֽוֹאָחָז֙ (of Joahaz) הַמַּזְכִּ֔יר (the recorder), לְחַזֵּ֕ק (to strengthen) אֶת־ (-) בֵּ֖ית (the house) יְהוָ֥ה (of YHWH) אֱלֹהָֽיו׃ (his God).

9  וַיָּבֹ֜אוּ (And they came) אֶל־ (to) חִלְקִיָּ֣הוּ׀ (Hilkiah) הַכֹּהֵ֣ן (the priest), הַגָּד֗וֹל (high) וַֽיִּתְּנוּ֮ (and they gave) אֶת־ (-) הַכֶּסֶף֮ (the silver) הַמּוּבָ֣א (that was brought) בֵית־ (into the house) אֱלֹהִים֒ (of God), אֲשֶׁ֣ר (which) אָסְפֽוּ־ (had gathered) הַלְוִיִּם֩ (the Levites) שֹׁמְרֵ֨י (who kept) הַסַּ֜ף (the doors) מִיַּ֧ד (from the hand) מְנַשֶּׁ֣ה (of Manasseh) וְאֶפְרַ֗יִם (and Ephraim), וּמִכֹּל֙ (and from all) שְׁאֵרִ֣ית (the remnant) יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל (of Israel), וּמִכָּל־ (and from all) יְהוּדָ֖ה (Judah) וּבִנְיָמִ֑ן (and Benjamin), וְיֹשְׁבֵי (and from the dwellers) יְרֽוּשָׁלִָֽם׃ (of Jerusalem). 10  וַֽיִּתְּנ֗וּ (And they put it) עַל־ (into) יַד֙ (the hand) עֹשֵׂ֣ה (of those doing) הַמְּלָאכָ֔ה (the work) הַמֻּפְקָדִ֖ים (appointed) בְּבֵ֣ית (over the house) יְהוָ֑ה (of YHWH), וַיִּתְּנ֨וּ (and they gave) אֹת֜וֹ (it) עוֹשֵׂ֣י (to those doing) הַמְּלָאכָ֗ה (the work), אֲשֶׁ֤ר (who) עֹשִׂים֙ (were working) בְּבֵ֣ית (in the house) יְהוָ֔ה (of YHWH), לִבְדּ֥וֹק (to repair) וּלְחַזֵּ֖ק (and to strengthen) הַבָּֽיִת׃ (the house). 11  וַֽיִּתְּנ֗וּ (And they gave it) לֶחָֽרָשִׁים֙ (to the craftsmen) וְלַבֹּנִ֔ים (and the builders) לִקְנוֹת֙ (to buy) אַבְנֵ֣י (stones) מַחְצֵ֔ב (hewn) וְעֵצִ֖ים (and timbers) לַֽמְחַבְּר֑וֹת (for couplings), וּלְקָרוֹת֙ (and for beams) אֶת־ (-) הַבָּ֣תִּ֔ים (to the houses) אֲשֶׁ֥ר (that) הִשְׁחִ֖יתוּ (had destroyed) מַלְכֵ֥י (the kings) יְהוּדָֽה׃ (of Judah).

12  וְהָאֲנָשִׁים֩ (And the men) עֹשִׂ֨ים (did) בֶּאֱמוּנָ֜ה (in faithfulness) בַּמְּלָאכָ֗ה (the work). וַעֲלֵיהֶ֣ם׀ (And their) מֻ֠פְקָדִים (overseers) יַ֣חַת (were Jahath) וְעֹבַדְיָ֤הוּ (and Obadiah) הַלְוִיִּם֙ (the Levites) מִן־ (of) בְּנֵ֣י (the sons) מְרָרִ֔י (of Merari), וּזְכַרְיָ֧ה (and Zechariah) וּמְשֻׁלָּ֛ם (and Meshullam) מִן־ (of) בְּנֵ֥י (the sons) הַקְּהָתִ֖ים (of the Kohathites) לְנַצֵּ֑חַ (to supervise), וְהַ֨לְוִיִּ֔ם (and of the Levites) כָּל־ (everyone) מֵבִ֖ין (skilled) בִּכְלֵי־ (with instruments) שִֽׁיר׃ (of song), 13  וְעַ֣ל (and over) הַסַּבָּלִ֗ים (the burden-bearers), וּֽמְנַצְּחִים֙ (and overseers) לְכֹל֙ (of all) עֹשֵׂ֣ה (who did) מְלָאכָ֔ה (work) לַעֲבוֹדָ֖ה (for service) וַעֲבוֹדָ֑ה (and service). וּמֵֽהַלְוִיִּ֔ם (And some of the Levites) סוֹפְרִ֥ים (were scribes) וְשֹׁטְרִ֖ים (and officers) וְשׁוֹעֲרִֽים׃ (and gatekeepers).

Hilkiah Finds the Book of the Law
(2 Kings 22:8–13)

14  וּבְהוֹצִיאָ֣ם (And in their bringing out) אֶת־ (-) הַכֶּ֔סֶף (the silver) הַמּוּבָ֖א (that was brought into) בֵּ֣ית (the house) יְהוָ֑ה (of YHWH), מָצָא֙ (found) חִלְקִיָּ֣הוּ (Hilkiah) הַכֹּהֵ֔ן (the priest) אֶת־ (-) סֵ֥פֶר (the Book) תּֽוֹרַת־ (of the Law) יְהוָ֖ה (of YHWH) בְּיַד־ (by the hand) מֹשֶֽׁה׃ (of Moses). 15  וַיַּ֣עַן (And answered) חִלְקִיָּ֗הוּ (Hilkiah) וַיֹּ֙אמֶר֙ (and said) אֶל־ (to) שָׁפָ֣ן (Shaphan) הַסּוֹפֵ֔ר (the scribe), סֵ֧פֶר (The Book) הַתּוֹרָ֛ה (of the Law) מָצָ֖אתִי (I have found) בְּבֵ֣ית (in the house) יְהוָ֑ה (of YHWH)! וַיִּתֵּ֧ן (And gave) חִלְקִיָּ֛הוּ (Hilkiah) אֶת־ (-) הַסֵּ֖פֶר (the book) אֶל־ (to) שָׁפָֽן׃ (Shaphan).

16  וַיָּבֵ֨א (And carried) שָׁפָ֤ן (Shaphan) אֶת־ (-) הַסֵּ֙פֶר֙ (the book) אֶל־ (to) הַמֶּ֔לֶךְ (the king), וַיָּ֨שֶׁב (and brought) ע֧וֹד (back again) אֶת־ (-) הַמֶּ֛לֶךְ (the king) דָּבָ֖ר (word), לֵאמֹ֑ר (saying), כֹּ֛ל (All) אֲשֶׁר־ (that) נִתַּ֥ן (has been given) בְּיַד־ (into the hand) עֲבָדֶ֖יךָ (of your servants), הֵ֥ם (they) עֹשִֽׂים׃ (are doing). 17  וַיַּתִּ֕יכוּ (And they have gathered) אֶת־ (-) הַכֶּ֖סֶף (the silver) הַנִּמְצָ֣א (found) בְּבֵית־ (in the house) יְהוָ֑ה (of YHWH), וַֽיִּתְּנ֗וּהוּ (and they gave it) עַל־ (into) יַד֙ (the hand) הַמֻּפְקָדִ֔ים (of the overseers) וְעַל־ (and into) יַ֖ד (the hand) עוֹשֵׂ֥י (of those doing) הַמְּלָאכָֽה׃ (the work).

18  וַיַּגֵּ֞ד (And declared) שָׁפָ֤ן (Shaphan) הַסּוֹפֵר֙ (the scribe) לַמֶּ֣לֶךְ (the king), לֵאמֹ֔ר (saying), סֵ֚פֶר (A book). נָ֣תַן (Has given) לִ֔י (to me) חִלְקִיָּ֖הוּ (Hilkiah) הַכֹּהֵ֑ן (the priest), וַיִּקְרָא־ (and read) ב֥וֹ (it) שָׁפָ֖ן (Shaphan) לִפְנֵ֥י (before) הַמֶּֽלֶךְ׃ (the king).

19  וַיְהִי֙ (And it came to pass), כִּשְׁמֹ֣עַ (in hearing) הַמֶּ֔לֶךְ (the king) אֵ֖ת (-) דִּבְרֵ֣י (the words) הַתּוֹרָ֑ה (of the Law), וַיִּקְרַ֖ע (that he tore) אֶת־ (-) בְּגָדָֽיו׃ (his clothes). 20  וַיְצַ֣ו (And commanded) הַמֶּ֡לֶךְ (the king) אֶת־ (-) חִלְקִיָּ֡הוּ (Hilkiah), וְאֶת־ (and) אֲחִיקָ֣ם (Ahikam) בֶּן־ (son) שָׁ֠פָן (of Shaphan), וְאֶת־ (and) עַבְדּ֨וֹן (Abdon) בֶּן־ (son) מִיכָ֜ה (of Micah), וְאֵ֣ת׀ (and) שָׁפָ֣ן (Shaphan) הַסּוֹפֵ֗ר (the scribe), וְאֵ֛ת (and) עֲשָׂיָ֥ה (Asaiah) עֶֽבֶד־ (a servant) הַמֶּ֖לֶךְ (of the king), לֵאמֹֽר׃ (saying), 21  לְכוּ֩ (Go), דִרְשׁ֨וּ (inquire) אֶת־ (of) יְהוָ֜ה (YHWH) בַּעֲדִ֗י (for me) וּבְעַד֙ (and on behalf of) הַנִּשְׁאָר֙ (those remaining) בְּיִשְׂרָאֵ֣ל (in Israel) וּבִֽיהוּדָ֔ה (and Judah), עַל־ (concerning) דִּבְרֵ֥י (the words) הַסֵּ֖פֶר (of the book) אֲשֶׁ֣ר (that) נִמְצָ֑א (has been found). כִּֽי־ (For) גְדוֹלָ֤ה (great is) חֲמַת־ (the wrath) יְהוָה֙ (of YHWH) אֲשֶׁ֣ר (that) נִתְּכָ֣ה (is poured out) בָ֔נוּ (on us) עַל֩ (upon) אֲשֶׁ֨ר (that) לֹא־ (not) שָׁמְר֤וּ (have kept) אֲבוֹתֵ֙ינוּ֙ (our fathers) אֶת־ (-) דְּבַ֣ר (the word) יְהוָ֔ה (of YHWH), לַעֲשׂ֕וֹת (to do) כְּכָל־ (according to all) הַכָּת֖וּב (written) עַל־ (in) הַסֵּ֥פֶר (the book) הַזֶּֽה׃פ (this).

Huldah’s Prophecy
(2 Kings 22:14–20)

22  וַיֵּ֨לֶךְ (And went) חִלְקִיָּ֜הוּ (Hilkiah) וַאֲשֶׁ֣ר (and those) הַמֶּ֗לֶךְ (of the king) אֶל־ (to) חֻלְדָּ֨ה (Huldah) הַנְּבִיאָ֜ה (the prophetess), אֵ֣שֶׁת׀ (the wife) שַׁלֻּ֣ם (of Shallum) בֶּן־ (son) תּוֹקְהַת (of Tokhath) בֶּן־ (son) חַסְרָה֙ (of Hasrah) שׁוֹמֵ֣ר (keeper) הַבְּגָדִ֔ים (of the wardrobe). וְהִ֛יא (And she) יוֹשֶׁ֥בֶת (was dwelling) בִּירוּשָׁלִַ֖ם (in Jerusalem) בַּמִּשְׁנֶ֑ה (in the Mishneh). וַיְדַבְּר֥וּ (And they spoke) אֵלֶ֖יהָ (to her) כָּזֹֽאת׃ס (according to this).

23  וַתֹּ֣אמֶר (And she answered) לָהֶ֔ם (them), כֹּה־ (Thus) אָמַ֥ר (says) יְהוָ֖ה (YHWH) אֱלֹהֵ֣י (God) יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל (of Israel): אִמְר֣וּ (Tell) לָאִ֔ישׁ (the man) אֲשֶׁר־ (who) שָׁלַ֥ח (sent) אֶתְכֶ֖ם (you⁺) אֵלָֽי׃ס (to Me), 24  כֹּ֚ה (thus) אָמַ֣ר (says) יְהוָ֔ה (YHWH): הִנְנִ֨י (Behold) מֵבִ֥יא (I am bringing) רָעָ֛ה (calamity) עַל־ (on) הַמָּק֥וֹם (the place) הַזֶּ֖ה (this) וְעַל־ (and on) יוֹשְׁבָ֑יו (its dwellers), אֵ֤ת (-) כָּל־ (according to all) הָאָלוֹת֙ (the curses) הַכְּתוּב֣וֹת (written) עַל־ (in) הַסֵּ֔פֶר (the book) אֲשֶׁ֣ר (that) קָֽרְא֔וּ (they have read) לִפְנֵ֖י (before) מֶ֥לֶךְ (the king) יְהוּדָֽה׃ (of Judah), 25  תַּ֣חַת׀ (because) אֲשֶׁ֣ר (that) עֲזָב֗וּנִי (they have forsaken Me) וַיַּקְטִירוּ (and burned incense) לֵֽאלֹהִ֣ים (to gods) אֲחֵרִ֔ים (other), לְמַ֙עַן֙ (that) הַכְעִיסֵ֔נִי (they might provoke Me to anger) בְּכֹ֖ל (with all) מַעֲשֵׂ֣י (the works) יְדֵיהֶ֑ם (of their hands). וְתִתַּ֧ךְ (And will be poured out) חֲמָתִ֛י (My wrath) בַּמָּק֥וֹם (on the place) הַזֶּ֖ה (this), וְלֹ֥א (and not) תִכְבֶּֽה׃ (will it be quenched).

26  וְאֶל־ (And as for) מֶ֣לֶךְ (the king) יְהוּדָ֗ה (of Judah) הַשֹּׁלֵ֤חַ (who sent) אֶתְכֶם֙ (you⁺) לִדְר֣וֹשׁ (to inquire) בַּֽיהוָ֔ה (of YHWH) כֹּ֥ה (in this manner), תֹאמְר֖וּ (you⁺ shall say) אֵלָ֑יוס (to him) כֹּֽה־ (thus) אָמַ֤ר (says) יְהוָה֙ (YHWH) אֱלֹהֵ֣י (God) יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל (of Israel): הַדְּבָרִ֖ים (The words) אֲשֶׁ֥ר (that) שָׁמָֽעְתָּ׃ (you have heard), 27  יַ֠עַן (because) רַךְ־ (was tender) לְבָ֨בְךָ֜ (your heart) וַתִּכָּנַ֣ע׀ (and you humbled yourself) מִלִּפְנֵ֣י (before) אֱלֹהִ֗ים (God) בְּשָׁמְעֲךָ֤ (when you heard) אֶת־ (-) דְּבָרָיו֙ (His words) עַל־ (against) הַמָּק֤וֹם (the place) הַזֶּה֙ (this) וְעַל־ (and against) יֹ֣שְׁבָ֔יו (its dwellers), וַתִּכָּנַ֣ע (and you humbled yourself) לְפָנַ֔י (before Me), וַתִּקְרַ֥ע (and you tore) אֶת־ (-) בְּגָדֶ֖יךָ (your clothes) וַתֵּ֣בְךְּ (and you wept) לְפָנָ֑י (before Me), וְגַם־ (also) אֲנִ֥י (I) שָׁמַ֖עְתִּי (have heard)’— נְאֻם־ (the declaration) יְהוָֽה׃ (of YHWH).

28  הִנְנִ֨י (Surely) אֹֽסִפְךָ֜ (I will gather you) אֶל־ (to) אֲבֹתֶ֗יךָ (your fathers), וְנֶאֱסַפְתָּ֣ (and you shall be gathered) אֶל־ (to) קִבְרֹתֶיךָ֮ (your grave) בְּשָׁלוֹם֒ (in peace), וְלֹא־ (and not) תִרְאֶ֣ינָה (shall see) עֵינֶ֔יךָ (your eyes) בְּכֹל֙ (all) הָֽרָעָ֔ה (the calamity) אֲשֶׁ֨ר (that) אֲנִ֥י (I) מֵבִ֛יא (will bring) עַל־ (on) הַמָּק֥וֹם (the place) הַזֶּ֖ה (this) וְעַל־ (and) יֹשְׁבָ֑יו (its dwellers).

וַיָּשִׁ֥יבוּ (And they brought back) אֶת־ (-) הַמֶּ֖לֶךְ (to the king) דָּבָֽר׃פ (word).

Josiah Renews the Covenant
(2 Kings 23:1–3)

29  וַיִּשְׁלַ֖ח (And sent) הַמֶּ֑לֶךְ (the king) וַיֶּאֱסֹ֕ף (and gathered) אֶת־ (-) כָּל־ (all) זִקְנֵ֥י (the elders) יְהוּדָ֖ה (of Judah) וִירוּשָׁלִָֽם׃ (and Jerusalem). 30  וַיַּ֣עַל (And went up) הַמֶּ֣לֶךְ (the king) בֵּית־ (to the house) יְ֠הוָה (of YHWH), וְכָל־ (and every) אִ֨ישׁ (man) יְהוּדָ֜ה (of Judah), וְיֹשְׁבֵ֣י (and the dwellers) יְרוּשָׁלִַ֗ם (of Jerusalem), וְהַכֹּֽהֲנִים֙ (and the priests), וְהַלְוִיִּ֔ם (and the Levites), וְכָל־ (and all) הָעָ֖ם (the people) מִגָּד֣וֹל (great) וְעַד־ (and) קָטָ֑ן (small). וַיִּקְרָ֣א (And he read) בְאָזְנֵיהֶ֗ם (in their ears) אֶת־ (-) כָּל־ (all) דִּבְרֵי֙ (the words) סֵ֣פֶר (of the Book) הַבְּרִ֔ית (of the Covenant) הַנִּמְצָ֖א (found) בֵּ֥ית (in the house) יְהוָֽה׃ (of YHWH).

31  וַיַּעֲמֹ֨ד (And stood) הַמֶּ֜לֶךְ (the king) עַל־ (in) עָמְד֗וֹ (his place) וַיִּכְרֹ֣ת (and he cut) אֶֽת־ (-) הַבְּרִית֮ (a covenant) לִפְנֵ֣י (before) יְהוָה֒ (YHWH), לָלֶ֜כֶת (to follow) אַחֲרֵ֣י (after) יְהוָ֗ה (YHWH) וְלִשְׁמ֤וֹר (and to keep) אֶת־ (-) מִצְוֺתָיו֙ (His commandments), וְעֵֽדְוֺתָ֣יו (and His testimonies), וְחֻקָּ֔יו (and His statutes) בְּכָל־ (with all) לְבָב֖וֹ (his heart) וּבְכָל־ (and all) נַפְשׁ֑וֹ (his soul), לַעֲשׂוֹת֙ (to do) אֶת־ (-) דִּבְרֵ֣י (the words) הַבְּרִ֔ית (of the covenant) הַכְּתוּבִ֖ים (written) עַל־ (in) הַסֵּ֥פֶר (the book) הַזֶּֽה׃ (this).

32  וַיַּעֲמֵ֕ד (And to stand) אֵ֛ת (he made) כָּל־ (all) הַנִּמְצָ֥א (found) בִירוּשָׁלִַ֖ם (in Jerusalem) וּבִנְיָמִ֑ן (and Benjamin), וַֽיַּעֲשׂוּ֙ (and did) יֹשְׁבֵ֣י (the dwellers) יְרוּשָׁלִַ֔ם (of Jerusalem) כִּבְרִ֥ית (according to the covenant) אֱלֹהִ֖ים (of God), אֱלֹהֵ֥י (the God) אֲבוֹתֵיהֶֽם׃ (of their fathers).

33  וַיָּ֨סַר (And turned aside) יֹֽאשִׁיָּ֜הוּ (Josiah) אֶת־ (-) כָּל־ (all) הַתּוֹעֵב֗וֹת (the abominations) מִֽכָּל־ (from all) הָאֲרָצוֹת֮ (the lands) אֲשֶׁ֣ר (that) לִבְנֵ֣י (the sons) יִשְׂרָאֵל֒ (of Israel) וַֽיַּעֲבֵ֗ד (and caused to serve), אֵ֤ת (-) כָּל־ (all) הַנִּמְצָא֙ (found) בְּיִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל (in Israel) לַעֲב֖וֹד (caused to serve) אֶת־ (-) יְהוָ֣ה (YHWH) אֱלֹהֵיהֶ֑ם (their God). כָּל־ (All) יָמָ֕יו (his days) לֹ֣א (not) סָ֔רוּ (they did depart) מֵֽאַחֲרֵ֕י (from following) יְהוָ֖ה (YHWH) אֱלֹהֵ֥י (God) אֲבוֹתֵיהֶֽם׃פ (of their fathers).
