Isaiah 52

Deliverance for Jerusalem

1  עוּרִ֥י (Awake), עוּרִ֛י (awake);

לִבְשִׁ֥י (Put on) עֻזֵּ֖ךְ (your strength), צִיּ֑וֹן (O Zion);

לִבְשִׁ֣י׀ (Put on) בִּגְדֵ֣י (the garments), תִפְאַרְתֵּ֗ךְ (of your beauty)

יְרוּשָׁלִַ֙ם֙ (O Jerusalem), עִ֣יר (city); הַקֹּ֔דֶשׁ (the holy)

כִּ֣י (for) לֹ֥א (no) יוֹסִ֛יף (longer) יָבֹא־ (will they enter) בָ֥ךְ (into you) ע֖וֹד (again)

עָרֵ֥ל (the uncircumcised) וְטָמֵֽא׃ (and unclean).

2  הִתְנַעֲרִ֧י (Shake yourself) מֵעָפָ֛ר (from the dust);

ק֥וּמִי (arise), שְּׁבִ֖י (sit down), יְרֽוּשָׁלִָ֑ם (O Jerusalem);

הִתְפַּתְּחוּ (Loose yourself) מוֹסְרֵ֣י (from the bonds) צַוָּארֵ֔ךְ (on your neck),

שְׁבִיָּ֖ה (O captive) בַּת־ (daughter) צִיּֽוֹן׃ס (of Zion).

3  כִּֽי־ (For) כֹה֙ (thus) אָמַ֣ר (says) יְהוָ֔ה (YHWH),

חִנָּ֖ם (For nothing); נִמְכַּרְתֶּ֑ם (you⁺ were sold)

וְלֹ֥א (and not) בְכֶ֖סֶף (with money) תִּגָּאֵֽלוּ׃ (you⁺ will be redeemed).

4  כִּ֣י (For) כֹ֤ה (thus) אָמַר֙ (says) אֲדֹנָ֣י (the Lord) יְהוִ֔ה (YHWH),

מִצְרַ֛יִם (To Egypt) יָֽרַד־ (went down) עַמִּ֥י (My people) בָרִֽאשֹׁנָ֖ה (at first) לָג֣וּר (to dwell) שָׁ֑ם (there);

וְאַשּׁ֖וּר (and Assyria) בְּאֶ֥פֶס (without cause) עֲשָׁקֽוֹ׃ (has oppressed them).

5  וְעַתָּ֤ה (And) מִי־ (what is) לִי (for Me) פֹה֙ (here),

נְאֻם־ (a declaration) יְהוָ֔ה (of YHWH),

כִּֽי־ (that) לֻקַּ֥ח (are taken away) עַמִּ֖י (My people) חִנָּ֑ם (for nothing)?

מֹשְׁלוֹ (Those ruling over him) יְהֵילִ֙ילוּ֙ (wail), נְאֻם־ (a declaration) יְהוָ֔ה (of YHWH);

וְתָמִ֥יד (and continually) כָּל־ (all) הַיּ֖וֹם (the day)

שְׁמִ֥י (My name) מִנֹּאָֽץ׃ (is blasphemed).

6  לָכֵ֛ן (Therefore) יֵדַ֥ע (will know) עַמִּ֖י (My people) שְׁמִ֑י (My name);

לָכֵן֙ (therefore) בַּיּ֣וֹם (on the day) הַה֔וּא (that)

כִּֽי־ (Indeed) אֲנִי־ (I am) ה֥וּא (He) הַֽמְדַבֵּ֖ר (the One speaking),

הִנֵּֽנִי׃ (Here I am).

7  מַה־ (How) נָּאו֨וּ (beautiful) עַל־ (upon) הֶהָרִ֜ים (the mountains) רַגְלֵ֣י (are the feet)

מְבַשֵּׂ֗ר (of the one bringing good news),

מַשְׁמִ֧יעַ (proclaiming) שָׁל֛וֹם (peace); מְבַשֵּׂ֥ר (bringing news of) ט֖וֹב (good things),

מַשְׁמִ֣יעַ (proclaiming) יְשׁוּעָ֑ה (salvation);

אֹמֵ֥ר (saying) לְצִיּ֖וֹן (to Zion), מָלַ֥ךְ (Reigns)! אֱלֹהָֽיִךְ׃ (Your God).

8  ק֥וֹל (The voice); צֹפַ֛יִךְ (of your watchmen) נָ֥שְׂאוּ (they lift up) ק֖וֹל (the voice)

יַחְדָּ֣ו (together) יְרַנֵּ֑נוּ (they shall sing out);

כִּ֣י (for) עַ֤יִן (eye) בְּעַ֙יִן֙ (to eye), יִרְא֔וּ (they will see)

בְּשׁ֥וּב (the returning of) יְהוָ֖ה (YHWH) צִיּֽוֹן׃ (to Zion).

9  פִּצְח֤וּ (Break forth), רַנְּנוּ֙ (sing out) יַחְדָּ֔ו (together),

חָרְב֖וֹת (O ruins) יְרוּשָׁלִָ֑ם (of Jerusalem);

כִּֽי־ (for) נִחַ֤ם (has comforted) יְהוָה֙ (YHWH) עַמּ֔וֹ (His people),

גָּאַ֖ל (He has redeemed) יְרוּשָׁלִָֽם׃ (Jerusalem).

10  חָשַׂ֤ף (Has bared) יְהוָה֙ (YHWH) אֶת־ (-) זְר֣וֹעַ (the arm) קָדְשׁ֔וֹ (of His holiness)

לְעֵינֵ֖י (before the eyes) כָּל־ (of all) הַגּוֹיִ֑ם (the nations);

וְרָאוּ֙ (and will see) כָּל־ (all) אַפְסֵי־ (the ends) אָ֔רֶץ (of the earth) אֵ֖ת (-)

יְשׁוּעַ֥ת (the salvation) אֱלֹהֵֽינוּ׃ס (of our God).

11  ס֤וּרוּ (Turn aside), ס֙וּרוּ֙ (turn aside), צְא֣וּ (go out) מִשָּׁ֔ם (from there),

טָמֵ֖א (an unclean thing) אַל־ (not) תִּגָּ֑עוּ (will you⁺ touch)

צְא֣וּ (go out) מִתּוֹכָ֔הּ (from her midst) הִבָּ֕רוּ (purify yourselves),

נֹשְׂאֵ֖י (ones bearing) כְּלֵ֥י (the vessels) יְהוָֽה׃ (of YHWH).

12  כִּ֣י (But) לֹ֤א (not) בְחִפָּזוֹן֙ (with haste), תֵּצֵ֔אוּ (will you⁺ go forth)

וּבִמְנוּסָ֖ה (and in flight); לֹ֣א (not) תֵלֵכ֑וּן (will you⁺ go)

כִּֽי־ (for) הֹלֵ֤ךְ (goes) לִפְנֵיכֶם֙ (before you⁺) יְהוָ֔ה (YHWH)

וּמְאַסִּפְכֶ֖ם (gathers you⁺). אֱלֹהֵ֥י (The God) יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃ס (of Israel).

The Servant Exalted
(Philippians 2:5–11)

13  הִנֵּ֥ה (Behold), יַשְׂכִּ֖יל (will prosper), עַבְדִּ֑י (My Servant)

יָר֧וּם (he will rise up) וְנִשָּׂ֛א (and be lifted up), וְגָבַ֖הּ (exalted) מְאֹֽד׃ (and highly).

14  כַּאֲשֶׁ֨ר (Just as) שָׁמְמ֤וּ (were dismayed) עָלֶ֙יךָ֙ (at you) רַבִּ֔ים (many)

כֵּן־ (so) מִשְׁחַ֥ת (was disfigured) מֵאִ֖ישׁ (beyond any man), מַרְאֵ֑הוּ (His appearance)

וְתֹאֲר֖וֹ (and his form) מִבְּנֵ֥י (beyond any sons) אָדָֽם׃ (of man).

15  כֵּ֤ן (So) יַזֶּה֙ (He will sprinkle) גּוֹיִ֣ם (nations); רַבִּ֔ים (many)

עָלָ֛יו (because of him) יִקְפְּצ֥וּ (will shut) מְלָכִ֖ים (kings) פִּיהֶ֑ם (their mouths)

כִּ֠י (for) אֲשֶׁ֨ר (what) לֹֽא־ (not) סֻפַּ֤ר (had been recounted) לָהֶם֙ (to them) רָא֔וּ (they will see);

וַאֲשֶׁ֥ר (and what) לֹֽא־ (not) שָׁמְע֖וּ (they had heard) הִתְבּוֹנָֽנוּ׃ (they will understand).
