God Is Our Refuge and Strength
(2 Kings 18:13–16; 2 Chronicles 32:1–8)

לַמְנַצֵּ֥חַ (For the one directing). לִבְנֵי־ (Of the sons) קֹ֑רַח (of Korah). עַֽל־ (According to) עֲלָמ֥וֹת (Alamoth). שִֽׁיר׃ (A Song),

1אֱלֹהִ֣ים (God is) לָ֭נוּ (unto us) מַחֲסֶ֣ה (a place of refuge) וָעֹ֑ז (and strength),

עֶזְרָ֥ה (a help) בְ֝צָר֗וֹת (in distress) נִמְצָ֥א (to be found) מְאֹֽד׃ (surely).

2  עַל־ (Upon) כֵּ֣ן (thus) לֹא־ (not) נִ֭ירָא (will we fear)

בְּהָמִ֣יר (with the changing of) אָ֑רֶץ (the earth)

וּבְמ֥וֹט (and in the shaking of) הָ֝רִ֗ים (the mountains)

בְּלֵ֣ב (into the heart) יַמִּֽים׃ (of the seas)—

3  יֶהֱמ֣וּ (roar) יֶחְמְר֣וּ (and foam) מֵימָ֑יו (its waters);

יִֽרְעֲשֽׁוּ־ (and quake) הָרִ֖ים (the mountains) בְּגַאֲוָת֣וֹ (in its rising).

סֶֽלָה׃ (Selah)

4  נָהָ֗ר (there is a river) פְּלָגָ֗יו (whose streams) יְשַׂמְּח֥וּ (make glad) עִיר־ (the city) אֱלֹהִ֑ים (of God),

קְ֝דֹ֗שׁ (the Holy Place) מִשְׁכְּנֵ֥י (of the dwelling) עֶלְיֽוֹן׃ (of the Most High).

5  אֱלֹהִ֣ים (God) בְּ֭קִרְבָּהּ (is within her); בַּל־ (not) תִּמּ֑וֹט (will she be shaken);

יַעְזְרֶ֥הָ (will help her) אֱ֝לֹהִ֗ים (God) לִפְנ֥וֹת (at the turn) בֹּֽקֶר׃ (of the morning).

6  הָמ֣וּ (Raged) ג֭וֹיִם (the nations); מָ֣טוּ (were shaken) מַמְלָכ֑וֹת (the kingdoms);

נָתַ֥ן (He has given forth) בְּ֝קוֹל֗וֹ (with His voice); תָּמ֥וּג (melts) אָֽרֶץ׃ (the earth).

7  יְהוָ֣ה (YHWH) צְבָא֣וֹת (of Hosts) עִמָּ֑נוּ (is with us);

מִשְׂגָּֽב־ (a secure height) לָ֝נוּ (for us) אֱלֹהֵ֖י (is the God) יַעֲקֹ֣ב (of Jacob).

סֶֽלָה׃ (Selah)

8  לְֽכוּ־ (Come), חֲ֭זוּ (see) מִפְעֲל֣וֹת (the works) יְהוָ֑ה (of YHWH),

אֲשֶׁר־ (who) שָׂ֖ם (has set) שַׁמּ֣וֹת (devastation) בָּאָֽרֶץ׃ (upon the earth).

9  מַשְׁבִּ֥ית (He makes cease) מִלְחָמוֹת֮ (wars) עַד־ (to) קְצֵ֪ה (the end) הָ֫אָ֥רֶץ (of the earth);

קֶ֣שֶׁת (the bow) יְ֭שַׁבֵּר (He breaks), וְקִצֵּ֣ץ (He cuts apart) חֲנִ֑ית (the spear);

עֲ֝גָל֗וֹת (the shields) יִשְׂרֹ֥ף (He burns) בָּאֵֽשׁ׃ (in the fire).

10  הַרְפּ֣וּ (Be still) וּ֭דְעוּ (and know) כִּי־ (that) אָנֹכִ֣י (I am) אֱלֹהִ֑ים (God);

אָר֥וּם (I will be exalted) בַּ֝גּוֹיִ֗ם (among the nations),

אָר֥וּם (I will be exalted) בָּאָֽרֶץ׃ (over the earth).

11  יְהוָ֣ה (YHWH) צְבָא֣וֹת (of Hosts) עִמָּ֑נוּ (is with us);

מִשְׂגָּֽב־ (a secure height) לָ֝נוּ (for us) אֱלֹהֵ֖י (is the God) יַעֲקֹ֣ב (of Jacob).
