What you have spoken in the dark will be heard in the daylight, and what you have whispered in the inner rooms will be proclaimed from the housetops. | 3Therefore, whatever you have said in the dark will be heard in the light, and what you have whispered in an ear in private rooms will be proclaimed on the housetops. |
I tell you, My friends, do not be afraid of those who kill the body and after that can do no more. | 4"I say to you, my friends, don't fear those who kill the body, and after that can do nothing more. |
But I will show you whom you should fear: Fear the One who, after you have been killed, has authority to throw you into hell. Yes, I tell you, fear Him! | 5But I will show you the one to fear: Fear him who has authority to throw people into hell after death. Yes, I say to you, this is the one to fear! |

I tell you, everyone who confesses Me before men, the Son of Man will also confess him before the angels of God. | 8"And I say to you, anyone who acknowledges me before others, the Son of Man will also acknowledge him before the angels of God, |
But whoever denies Me before men will be denied before the angels of God. | 9but whoever denies me before others will be denied before the angels of God. |
And everyone who speaks a word against the Son of Man will be forgiven, but whoever blasphemes against the Holy Spirit will not be forgiven. | 10Anyone who speaks a word against the Son of Man will be forgiven, but the one who blasphemes against the Holy Spirit will not be forgiven. |

Then He told them a parable: “The ground of a certain rich man produced an abundance. | 16Then he told them a parable: "A rich man's land was very productive. |
So he thought to himself, ‘What shall I do, since I have nowhere to store my crops?’ | 17He thought to himself, 'What should I do, since I don't have anywhere to store my crops? |
Then he said, ‘This is what I will do: I will tear down my barns and will build bigger ones, and there I will store up all my grain and my goods. | 18I will do this,' he said. 'I'll tear down my barns and build bigger ones and store all my grain and my goods there. |
Then I will say to myself, “You have plenty of good things laid up for many years. Take it easy. Eat, drink, and be merry!” ’ | 19Then I'll say to myself, "You have many goods stored up for many years. Take it easy; eat, drink, and enjoy yourself."' |
But God said to him, ‘You fool! This very night your life will be required of you. Then who will own what you have accumulated?’ | 20"But God said to him, 'You fool! This very night your life is demanded of you. And the things you have prepared--whose will they be?' |
This is how it will be for anyone who stores up treasure for himself but is not rich toward God.” | 21"That's how it is with the one who stores up treasure for himself and is not rich toward God." |

For life is more than food, and the body more than clothes. | 23For life is more than food and the body more than clothing. |
Consider the ravens: They do not sow or reap, they have no storehouse or barn; yet God feeds them. How much more valuable you are than the birds! | 24Consider the ravens: They don't sow or reap; they don't have a storeroom or a barn; yet God feeds them. Aren't you worth much more than the birds? |
Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life? | 25Can any of you add one moment to his life-span by worrying? |
So if you cannot do such a small thing, why do you worry about the rest? | 26If then you're not able to do even a little thing, why worry about the rest? |
Consider how the lilies grow: They do not labor or spin. Yet I tell you, not even Solomon in all his glory was adorned like one of these. | 27"Consider how the wildflowers grow: They don't labor or spin thread. Yet I tell you, not even Solomon in all his splendor was adorned like one of these. |
If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the furnace, how much more will He clothe you, O you of little faith! | 28If that's how God clothes the grass, which is in the field today and is thrown into the furnace tomorrow, how much more will he do for you--you of little faith? |

Provide yourselves with purses that will not wear out, an inexhaustible treasure in heaven, where no thief approaches and no moth destroys. | 33Sell your possessions and give to the poor. Make money-bags for yourselves that won't grow old, an inexhaustible treasure in heaven, where no thief comes near and no moth destroys. |

Blessed are those servants whom the master finds on watch when he returns. Truly I tell you, he will dress himself to serve and will have them recline at the table, and he himself will come and wait on them. | 37Blessed will be those servants the master finds alert when he comes. Truly I tell you, he will get ready, have them recline at the table, then come and serve them. |
Even if he comes in the second or third watch of the night and finds them alert, those servants will be blessed. | 38If he comes in the middle of the night, or even near dawn, and finds them alert, blessed are those servants. |
But understand this: If the homeowner had known at what hour the thief was coming, he would not have let his house be broken into. | 39But know this: If the homeowner had known at what hour the thief was coming, he would not have let his house be broken into. |

But suppose that servant says in his heart, ‘My master will be a long time in coming,’ and he begins to beat the menservants and maidservants, and to eat and drink and get drunk. | 45But if that servant says in his heart, 'My master is delaying his coming,' and starts to beat the male and female servants, and to eat and drink and get drunk, |
The master of that servant will come on a day he does not expect and at an hour he does not anticipate. Then he will cut him to pieces and assign him a place with the unbelievers. | 46that servant's master will come on a day he does not expect him and at an hour he does not know. He will cut him to pieces and assign him a place with the unfaithful. |
That servant who knows his master’s will but does not get ready or follow his instructions will be beaten with many blows. | 47And that servant who knew his master's will and didn't prepare himself or do it will be severely beaten. |
But the one who unknowingly does things worthy of punishment will be beaten with few blows. From everyone who has been given much, much will be required; and from him who has been entrusted with much, even more will be demanded. | 48But the one who did not know and did what deserved punishment will receive a light beating. From everyone who has been given much, much will be required; and from the one who has been entrusted with much, even more will be expected. |

You hypocrites! You know how to interpret the appearance of the earth and sky. Why don’t you know how to interpret the present time? | 56Hypocrites! You know how to interpret the appearance of the earth and the sky, but why don't you know how to interpret this present time? |

Make every effort to reconcile with your adversary while you are on your way to the magistrate. Otherwise, he may drag you off to the judge, and the judge may hand you over to the officer, and the officer may throw you into prison. | 58As you are going with your adversary to the ruler, make an effort to settle with him on the way. Then he won't drag you before the judge, the judge hand you over to the bailiff, and the bailiff throw you into prison. |
