Invitation to the Needy

1  ה֤וֹי (Come), כָּל־ (everyone) צָמֵא֙ (who is thirsty),

לְכ֣וּ (come) לַמַּ֔יִם (to the waters),

וַאֲשֶׁ֥ר (and who is) אֵֽין־ (without) ל֖וֹ (unto him) כָּ֑סֶף (silver);

לְכ֤וּ (let them come) שִׁבְרוּ֙ (buy), וֶֽאֱכֹ֔לוּ (and eat); וּלְכ֣וּ (and let them come),

שִׁבְר֗וּ (and buy) בְּלוֹא־ (without) כֶ֛סֶף (silver) וּבְל֥וֹא (and without) מְחִ֖יר (price)

יַ֥יִן (wine) וְחָלָֽב׃ (and milk).

2  לָ֤מָּה (Why) תִשְׁקְלוּ־ (do you⁺ weigh out) כֶ֙סֶף֙ (silver) בְּֽלוֹא־ (for what is not) לֶ֔חֶם (bread)?

וִיגִיעֲכֶ֖ם (And your⁺ wages) בְּל֣וֹא (for what is not)? לְשָׂבְעָ֑ה (Satisfaction)

שִׁמְע֨וּ (listen) שָׁמ֤וֹעַ (listening) אֵלַי֙ (to Me) וְאִכְלוּ־ (and eat) ט֔וֹב (what is good),

וְתִתְעַנַּ֥ג (and let delight) בַּדֶּ֖שֶׁן (in the richness) נַפְשְׁכֶֽם׃ (your⁺ soul).

3  הַטּ֤וּ (Incline) אָזְנְכֶם֙ (your⁺ ear), וּלְכ֣וּ (and come) אֵלַ֔י (to Me)

שִׁמְע֖וּ (listen), וּתְחִ֣י (that may live); נַפְשְׁכֶ֑ם (your⁺ soul) וְאֶכְרְתָ֤ה (and I will make)

לָכֶם֙ (with you⁺) בְּרִ֣ית (a covenant) עוֹלָ֔ם (forever)

חַֽסְדֵ֥י (the loving devotion) דָוִ֖ד (to David) הַנֶּאֱמָנִֽים׃ (promised).

4  הֵ֛ן (Behold), עֵ֥ד (as a witness) לְאוּמִּ֖ים (to the nations), נְתַתִּ֑יו (I have placed him)

נָגִ֥יד (a leader) וּמְצַוֵּ֖ה (and commander) לְאֻמִּֽים׃ (of the peoples).

5  הֵ֣ן (Behold), גּ֤וֹי (a nation) לֹֽא־ (that not), תֵדַע֙ (you do know) תִּקְרָ֔א (you will call on)

וְג֥וֹי (and a nation) לֹֽא־ (not) יְדָע֖וּךָ (did know you) אֵלֶ֣יךָ (to you) יָר֑וּצוּ (will run)

לְמַ֙עַן֙ (on account) יְהוָ֣ה (of YHWH) אֱלֹהֶ֔יךָ (your God), וְלִקְד֥וֹשׁ (and the Holy One) יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל (of Israel);

כִּ֥י (for) פֵאֲרָֽךְ׃ס (He has glorified you).

6  דִּרְשׁ֥וּ (Seek) יְהוָ֖ה (YHWH) בְּהִמָּצְא֑וֹ (while He may be found),

קְרָאֻ֖הוּ (call upon Him) בִּֽהְיוֹת֥וֹ (while He is) קָרֽוֹב׃ (near).

7  יַעֲזֹ֤ב (Let forsake) רָשָׁע֙ (the wicked one) דַּרְכּ֔וֹ (his way),

וְאִ֥ישׁ (and the man) אָ֖וֶן (of iniquity) מַחְשְׁבֹתָ֑יו (his thoughts);

וְיָשֹׁ֤ב (and let him return) אֶל־ (to) יְהוָה֙ (YHWH)

וִֽירַחֲמֵ֔הוּ (and He will have compassion on him)

וְאֶל־ (and to) אֱלֹהֵ֖ינוּ (our God),

כִּֽי־ (for) יַרְבֶּ֥ה (he will abundantly) לִסְלֽוֹחַ׃ (pardon).

8  כִּ֣י (For) לֹ֤א (not are) מַחְשְׁבוֹתַי֙ (My thoughts) מַחְשְׁב֣וֹתֵיכֶ֔ם (your⁺ thoughts),

וְלֹ֥א (and not are) דַרְכֵיכֶ֖ם (your⁺ ways) דְּרָכָ֑י (My ways),

נְאֻ֖ם (a declaration) יְהוָֽה׃ (of YHWH).

9  כִּֽי־ (For) גָבְה֥וּ (are higher) שָׁמַ֖יִם (the heavens) מֵאָ֑רֶץ (than the earth),

כֵּ֣ן (so) גָּבְה֤וּ (are higher) דְרָכַי֙ (My ways) מִדַּרְכֵיכֶ֔ם (than your⁺ ways),

וּמַחְשְׁבֹתַ֖י (and My thoughts) מִמַּחְשְׁבֹתֵיכֶֽם׃ (than your⁺ thoughts).

10  כִּ֡י (For) כַּאֲשֶׁ֣ר (as) יֵרֵד֩ (comes down), הַגֶּ֨שֶׁם (the rain) וְהַשֶּׁ֜לֶג (and the snow) מִן־ (from) הַשָּׁמַ֗יִם (the heavens),

וְשָׁ֙מָּה֙ (and from there), לֹ֣א (not) יָשׁ֔וּב (does return) כִּ֚י (-) אִם־ (until) הִרְוָ֣ה (it has quenched) אֶת־ (-) הָאָ֔רֶץ (the earth),

וְהוֹלִידָ֖הּ (and makes it bring forth) וְהִצְמִיחָ֑הּ (and sprout),

וְנָ֤תַן (that it may give) זֶ֙רַע֙ (seed) לַזֹּרֵ֔עַ (to the one sowing), וְלֶ֖חֶם (and bread) לָאֹכֵֽל׃ (to the one eating);

11  כֵּ֣ן (so) יִֽהְיֶ֤ה (is) דְבָרִי֙ (My word) אֲשֶׁ֣ר (that) יֵצֵ֣א (goes forth) מִפִּ֔י (from My mouth);

לֹֽא־ (not) יָשׁ֥וּב (will it return) אֵלַ֖י (to Me) רֵיקָ֑ם (empty),

כִּ֤י (-) אִם־ (until) עָשָׂה֙ (it has done) אֶת־ (-) אֲשֶׁ֣ר (that which) חָפַ֔צְתִּי (I delight),

וְהִצְלִ֖יחַ (and it will prosper) אֲשֶׁ֥ר (for that which) שְׁלַחְתִּֽיו׃ (I send it).

12  כִּֽי־ (For) בְשִׂמְחָ֣ה (with joy), תֵצֵ֔אוּ (you⁺ will go forth)

וּבְשָׁל֖וֹם (and with peace); תּֽוּבָל֑וּן (you⁺ will be led)

הֶהָרִ֣ים (the mountains) וְהַגְּבָע֗וֹת (and the hills) יִפְצְח֤וּ (will break forth) לִפְנֵיכֶם֙ (before you⁺) רִנָּ֔ה (with singing),

וְכָל־ (and all) עֲצֵ֥י (the trees) הַשָּׂדֶ֖ה (of the field) יִמְחֲאוּ־ (will clap) כָֽף׃ (the hand).

13  תַּ֤חַת (In place) הַֽנַּעֲצוּץ֙ (of the thornbush) יַעֲלֶ֣ה (will come up) בְר֔וֹשׁ (the cypress),

תַּחַת (and in place) הַסִּרְפַּ֖ד (of the nettles) יַעֲלֶ֣ה (will come up) הֲדַ֑ס (the myrtle tree);

וְהָיָ֤ה (and it will be) לַֽיהוָה֙ (for YHWH) לְשֵׁ֔ם (as a name),

לְא֥וֹת (as a sign for) עוֹלָ֖ם (forever) לֹ֥א (that not) יִכָּרֵֽת׃ס (will be cut off).
