1And it happened, when Jesus had finished all these words, He said to His disciples, 2You know that after two days the Passover happens, and the Son of Man is betrayed to be crucified.

3Then the chief priests and the elders of the people were gathered together into the court of the high priest, who is called Caiaphas, 4And they consulted together so that they might obtain Jesus by trickery and kill Him; 5However they said, Not during the feast, so that there may not be an uproar (riot, noisy disorderly upheaval) among the people.

6And Jesus having been in Bethany in the house of Simon the leper, 7A woman having an alabaster vial of very costly perfumed (spiced, scented) anointing ointment (ointment made of olive oil perfumed with spices/scents) came to Him and poured it down upon His head as He reclined. 8And the disciples having seen became indignant, saying, Unto what this waste (loss, ruin)? 9For this could have been sold for much and have been given to the poor. 10And having known this, Jesus said to them, Why do you cause trouble to the woman? For the work she did is beautiful (kalon- winsomely/attractively good) unto Me. 11For you always have the poor with you; however you do not always have Me. 12For in pouring this perfumed anointing ointment upon My body, she did it to prepare Me for burial. 13Truly I say to you, wherever this gospel shall be preached in the whole world, that which this woman did will also be spoken of unto a memorial of her.

14Then one of the twelve, who being called Judas Iscariot, having gone to the chief priests, 15Said, What are you willing to give me and I will betray Him to you? And they weighed out (set, stood) thirty pieces of silver to him. 16And from that time, he sought a convenient opportunity so that he might betray Him.

17And on the first day of the Unleavened Bread, the disciples came to Jesus, saying, Where do You wish that we should prepare for You to eat the Passover? 18And He said, Go into the city to a certain man (so and so) and say to him, The Teacher says, My time is near; I will keep (do, make) the Passover with you and with My disciples. 19And the disciples did as Jesus directed them and prepared the Passover.

20And evening having arrived, He reclined at the table with the twelve disciples. 21And as they were eating He said to them, Truly I say to you, that one from out of you will betray Me. 22And being extremely saddened, they began to say to Him, each one, Not I is it, Lord? 23And answering He said, The one having dipped (embapsas) his hand with Me in the dish (deep dish, bowl), he will betray Me. 24The Son of Man goes indeed, just as it has been written concerning Him; and woe to that man through whom the Son of Man is betrayed. It would be better for him if that there man had not been born. 25And answering, Judas, who was betraying Him, said, Not I is it, Rabbi? He says to him, You have said.

26And as they were eating, Jesus having taken the bread and having blessed, broke and gave it to the disciples, and said, Take, eat; this is My body. 27And having taken a cup and having given thanks, he gave it to them, saying, Drink from out of it, all of you. 28For this is My blood of the covenant being poured out concerning many unto the remission of sins. 29And I say to you, I will not drink from out of this offspring of the vine from now until that there day when I drink it new (fresh) with you in the kingdom of My Father.

30And having sung a hymn, they went out unto the mount of Olives.

31Then Jesus says to them, All you will be stumbled at (in) Me during this night. For it has been written, I will strike the Shepherd and the sheep of the flock will be thoroughly scattered. 32And after being raised, I will go before you into Galilee. 33And answering, Peter said to Him, If all will be stumbled at (in) You, I will never be stumbled. 34Jesus said to him, Truly I say to you, that during this night, before the rooster calls out three times you will deny Me. 35Peter says to Him, Even if it were necessary for me to die with You, I will not deny You. Likewise also, all the disciples said.

36Then Jesus comes with them unto a place called Gethsemane and He says to the disciples, Sit down here until I go away over there and pray. 37And having taken with Him, Peter and the two sons of Zebedee, He began to be sorrowful (deep grief, sad) and distressed. 38Then He says to them, My soul is encompassed in sorrow as far as death; remain here and watch with Me.

39And having gone forward a little, He fell upon His face, praying, and saying, My Father, if it is possible let this cup pass away from Me. Nevertheless not as I will, but as You [will]. 40And He comes to the disciples and finds them sleeping. And He says to Peter, So you were not able to watch one hour with Me? 41Watch and pray, so that you may not enter into temptation. For the spirit is pre-disposed (pre-passioned, passionately inclined, latin-promptus-ready), however the flesh is weak (without vigor, sick in other contexts).

42Again for a second time having gone away, He prayed, saying, My Father, if it is not possible for this to pass, unless I drink it, Your will be done. 43And having come again, He finds them sleeping for their eyes were heavy. 44And having left them again, having gone away, He prayed for a third time having said again the same word. 45Then He comes to the disciples and says to them, Sleep on still and take your rest. Behold, the hour has drawn near, and the Son of Man is betrayed into the hands of sinners. 46Rise up, let us go! Behold, he who is betraying Me has drawn near!

47And yet as He was speaking of him, behold, Judas, one of the twelve, and a great crowd with him came with swords (slaughter daggers) and sticks (clubs, anything made of wood, cross-bar of a cross) from the chief priests and the elders of the people. 48And the one betraying Him gave them a sign, saying, whomever I shall kiss, it is He: seize (latin-tenete-arrest) Him. 49And directly having come near to Jesus, he said, Greetings, Rabbi, and repeatedly kissed (kiss down, kiss again and again, kiss fervently/affectionately) Him. 50And Jesus said to him, Friend (supposed friend), upon what are you come? Then having come to Him, they laid hands upon Jesus and seized Him.

51And behold, one of those with Jesus, having stretched out his hand, drew his sword and struck the bond-servant of the high priest and cut off his ear. 52Then Jesus says to him, Turn away (turn back) your sword into its place; for all those having taken the sword will perish by the sword. 53Or do you suppose that I am not able to entreat My Father and He will stand close beside Me right now more than twelve legions of angels? 54How then should the Scriptures be fulfilled that it must be so?

55In that there hour, Jesus said to the crowds, Are you come out as against (upon) a robber with swords and sticks to apprehend Me? Day after day I sat in the temple teaching and you did not seize Me. 56However all this has happened, so that the Scriptures o the prophets might be fulfilled. Then all the disciples left Him and fled.

57And those who having seized Jesus, led Him away to Caiaphas, the high priest, where the scribes and the elders were gathered together. 58And Peter followed Him from a long distance up to the court of the high priest. And having entered within, he sat with the guards to see the outcome (end).

59And the chief priests and the whole Council sought false witness against Jesus so that they might put Him to death, 60However they did not find any, though having many come forward as false witnesses. And lastly, two came forward, 61Said, This Man said, I am able to destroy the temple of God, and rebuild it throughout three days. 62And the high priest having stood up, said to Him, Do You answer nothing? What do these men witness against You? 63And Jesus was silent. And the high priest said to Him, I adjure (put You under strict oath) You by (by way of) the living God that You tell us if You are the Christ, the Son of God. 64Jesus says to him, You have said. Yet I say to you, from now you will see the Son of Man sitting from out of the right [hand/side] of power and coming upon the clouds of heaven.

65Then the high priest tears apart his garments, saying, He has blasphemed; why any further do we have need of witnesses? Behold now, you have heard the blasphemy. 66What do you suppose? And answering, they said, He is deserving (liable) of death.

67Then they spat into His face and struck Him with their fists. And others slapped Him, 68Saying, Prophesy to us, Christ, who is he who struck You?

69And Peter was sitting outside in the courtyard and one servant girl came to him, saying, You also were with Jesus the Galilean. 70And he denied before all them, saying, I do not know what you say. 71And having gone out onto the porch, another saw him, and says to those there, this man was with Jesus of Nazareth. 72And again he denied with an oath, I do not know the Man. 73After a little while, also those standing by having come to him, said to Peter, Certainly also, you are from out of them, for even your speech makes you plainly evident. 74Then he began to curse and to swear, I do not know the Man! And directly a rooster called out. 75And Peter remembered the saying (rhematos) of Jesus, having said, Before the rooster calling out, you will deny Me three times. And having gone outside, he wept bitterly.
