6 Also to his son Shemaiah were born sons who ruled over their families because they were strong, capable men. Also unto Shemaiah his son were sons born, that ruled throughout the house of their father: for they <i>were</i> mighty men of valour. 7 Shemaiah’s sons were Othni, Rephael, Obed, and Elzabad; his brothers were Elihu and Semachiah, also capable men. 8 All these were descendants of Obed-edom; they and their sons and brothers were capable men with strength to do the work— 62 in all from Obed-edom. All these were of the sons of Obed-edom with their sons and brothers, able men qualified for the service; sixty-two of Obed-edom. All these of the sons of Obededom: they and their sons and their brethren, able men for strength for the service, <i>were</i> threescore and two of Obededom. All these <i>were</i> of the sons of Obed-edom; they and their sons and relatives <i>were</i> able men with strength for the service, sixty-two from Obed-edom. All these were descendants of Obed-Edom; they and their sons and their relatives were capable men with the strength to do the work—descendants of Obed-Edom, 62 in all.
9 Meshelemiah also had sons and brothers who were capable men— 18 in all. And Meshelemiah had sons and brothers, able men, eighteen. And Meshelemiah had sons and brethren, strong men, eighteen. Meshelemiah had sons and relatives, eighteen valiant men. Meshelemiah had sons and relatives, who were able men—18 in all.

11 Hilkiah the second, Tebaliah the third, and Zechariah the fourth. The sons and brothers of Hosah numbered 13 in all. 12 These divisions of the gatekeepers, through their chief men, had duties for ministering in the house of the LORD, just as their brothers did. These divisions of the gatekeepers, corresponding to their chief men, had duties, just as their brothers did, ministering in the house of the LORD. Among these <i>were</i> the divisions of the porters, <i>even</i> among the chief men, <i>having</i> wards one against another, to minister in the house of the LORD. To these divisions of the gatekeepers, to the chief men, <i>were given</i> duties like their relatives, to serve in the house of the LORD. 13 They cast lots for each gate, according to their families, young and old alike. And they cast lots by fathers’ houses, small and great alike, for their gates. And they cast lots, as well the small as the great, according to the house of their fathers, for every gate. They cast lots, the small and the great alike, according to their fathers’ households, for every gate. Lots were cast for each gate, according to their families, young and old alike.
14 The lot for the East Gate fell to Shelemiah. Then lots were cast for his son Zechariah, a wise counselor, and the lot for the North Gate fell to him. The lot for the east fell to Shelemiah. They cast lots also for his son Zechariah, a shrewd counselor, and his lot came out for the north. And the lot eastward fell to Shelemiah. Then for Zechariah his son, a wise counseller, they cast lots; and his lot came out northward. The lot to the east fell to Shelemiah. Then they cast lots <i>for</i> his son Zechariah, a counselor with insight, and his lot came out to the north. The lot for the East Gate fell to Shelemiah. 15 The lot for the South Gate fell to Obed-edom, and the lot for the storehouses to his sons. Obed-edom’s came out for the south, and to his sons was allotted the gatehouse. To Obededom southward; and to his sons the house of Asuppim. For Obed-edom <i>it fell</i> to the south, and to his sons went the storehouse. The lot for the South Gate fell to Obed-Edom, and the lot for the storehouse fell to his sons.
16 The lots for the West Gate and the Shallecheth Gate on the ascending highway fell to Shuppim and Hosah. There were guards stationed at every watch. For Shuppim and Hosah it came out for the west, at the gate of Shallecheth on the road that goes up. Watch corresponded to watch. To Shuppim and Hosah <i>the lot came forth</i> westward, with the gate Shallecheth, by the causeway of the going up, ward against ward. For Shuppim and Hosah <i>it was</i> to the west, by the gate of Shallecheth, on the ascending highway. Guard corresponded to guard. The lots for the West Gate and the Shalleketh Gate on the upper road fell to Shuppim and Hosah. Guard was alongside of guard:
17 Each day there were six Levites on the east, four on the north, four on the south, and two pairs at the storehouse. On the east there were six each day, on the north four each day, on the south four each day, as well as two and two at the gatehouse. Eastward <i>were</i> six Levites, northward four a day, southward four a day, and toward Asuppim two <i>and</i> two. 18 As for the court on the west, there were four at the highway and two at the court. And for the colonnade on the west there were four at the road and two at the colonnade. At Parbar westward, four at the causeway, <i>and</i> two at Parbar. At the annex on the west <i>there were</i> four at the highway and two at the annex. As for the court to the west, there were four at the road and two at the court itself.
19 These were the divisions of the gatekeepers who were descendants of Korah and Merari. These were the divisions of the gatekeepers among the Korahites and the sons of Merari. These <i>are</i> the divisions of the porters among the sons of Kore, and among the sons of Merari. These were the divisions of the gatekeepers of the sons of Korah and of the sons of Merari. 20 Now their fellow Levites were in charge of the treasuries of the house of God and the treasuries of the dedicated things. And of the Levites, Ahijah had charge of the treasuries of the house of God and the treasuries of the dedicated gifts. And of the Levites, Ahijah <i>was</i> over the treasures of the house of God, and over the treasures of the dedicated things. The Levites, their relatives, were in charge of the treasures of the house of God and of the treasures of the dedicated gifts. 24 Shebuel, a descendant of Gershom son of Moses, was the officer in charge of the treasuries. and Shebuel the son of Gershom, son of Moses, was chief officer in charge of the treasuries. And Shebuel the son of Gershom, the son of Moses, <i>was</i> ruler of the treasures. Shebuel the son of Gershom, the son of Moses, was officer over the treasures. Shubael, a descendant of Gershom son of Moses, was the official in charge of the treasuries.
25 His relatives through Eliezer included Rehabiah his son, Jeshaiah his son, Joram his son, Zichri his son, and Shelomith his son. His brothers: from Eliezer were his son Rehabiah, and his son Jeshaiah, and his son Joram, and his son Zichri, and his son Shelomoth. 26 This Shelomith and his brothers were in charge of all the treasuries for the things dedicated by King David, by the heads of families who were the commanders of thousands and of hundreds, and by the army commanders. This Shelomoth and his brothers were in charge of all the treasuries of the dedicated gifts that David the king and the heads of the fathers’ houses and the officers of the thousands and the hundreds and the commanders of the army had dedicated. Which Shelomith and his brethren <i>were</i> over all the treasures of the dedicated things, which David the king, and the chief fathers, the captains over thousands and hundreds, and the captains of the host, had dedicated. This Shelomoth and his relatives were in charge of all the treasures of the dedicated gifts which King David and the heads of the fathers’ <i>households,</i> the commanders of thousands and hundreds, and the commanders of the army, had dedicated. 27 They had dedicated some of the plunder from their battles to the repair of the house of the LORD. From spoil won in battles they dedicated gifts for the maintenance of the house of the LORD. Out of the spoils won in battles did they dedicate to maintain the house of the LORD. They dedicated part of the spoils won in battles to repair the house of the LORD. Some of the plunder taken in battle they dedicated for the repair of the temple of the LORD.
28 Everything that had been dedicated by Samuel the seer, Saul son of Kish, Abner son of Ner, and Joab son of Zeruiah, along with everything else that was dedicated, was under the care of Shelomith and his brothers. Also all that Samuel the seer and Saul the son of Kish and Abner the son of Ner and Joab the son of Zeruiah had dedicated—all dedicated gifts were in the care of Shelomoth and his brothers. And all that Samuel the seer, and Saul the son of Kish, and Abner the son of Ner, and Joab the son of Zeruiah, had dedicated; <i>and</i> whosoever had dedicated <i>any thing, it was</i> under the hand of Shelomith, and of his brethren. And all that Samuel the seer had dedicated, and Saul the son of Kish, Abner the son of Ner, and Joab the son of Zeruiah, everyone who had dedicated <i>anything, all of this</i> was under the care of Shelomoth and his relatives. And everything dedicated by Samuel the seer and by Saul son of Kish, Abner son of Ner and Joab son of Zeruiah, and all the other dedicated things were in the care of Shelomith and his relatives.
29 From the Izrahites, Chenaniah and his sons had the outside duties as officers and judges over Israel. Of the Izharites, Chenaniah and his sons were appointed to external duties for Israel, as officers and judges. Of the Izharites, Chenaniah and his sons <i>were</i> for the outward business over Israel, for officers and judges. As for the Izharites, Chenaniah and his sons were <i>assigned</i> to outside duties for Israel, as officers and judges. From the Izharites: Kenaniah and his sons were assigned duties away from the temple, as officials and judges over Israel.
30 From the Hebronites, Hashabiah and his relatives, 1,700 capable men, had charge of the affairs of Israel west of the Jordan for all the work of the LORD and for the service of the king. Of the Hebronites, Hashabiah and his brothers, 1,700 men of ability, had the oversight of Israel westward of the Jordan for all the work of the LORD and for the service of the king. <i>And</i> of the Hebronites, Hashabiah and his brethren, men of valour, a thousand and seven hundred, <i>were</i> officers among them of Israel on this side Jordan westward in all the business of the LORD, and in the service of the king. As for the Hebronites, Hashabiah and his relatives, 1,700 capable men, were responsible for the affairs of Israel west of the Jordan, for all the work of the LORD and the service of the king. From the Hebronites: Hashabiah and his relatives—seventeen hundred able men—were responsible in Israel west of the Jordan for all the work of the LORD and for the king’s service.
31 As for the Hebronites, Jerijah was the chief of the Hebronites, according to the genealogies of his ancestors. In the fortieth year of David’s reign the records were searched, and strong, capable men were found among the Hebronites at Jazer in Gilead. Of the Hebronites, Jerijah was chief of the Hebronites of whatever genealogy or fathers’ houses. (In the fortieth year of David’s reign search was made and men of great ability among them were found at Jazer in Gilead.) Among the Hebronites <i>was</i> Jerijah the chief, <i>even</i> among the Hebronites, according to the generations of his fathers. In the fortieth year of the reign of David they were sought for, and there were found among them mighty men of valour at Jazer of Gilead. As for the Hebronites, Jerijah the chief (these Hebronites were sought out according to their genealogies and fathers’ <i>households,</i> in the fortieth year of David’s reign, and men of outstanding capability were found among them at Jazer of Gilead) As for the Hebronites, Jeriah was their chief according to the genealogical records of their families. In the fortieth year of David’s reign a search was made in the records, and capable men among the Hebronites were found at Jazer in Gilead.
32 Among Jerijah’s relatives there were 2,700 capable men who were heads of families. King David appointed them over the Reubenites, the Gadites, and the half-tribe of Manasseh for every matter pertaining to God and to the affairs of the king. King David appointed him and his brothers, 2,700 men of ability, heads of fathers’ houses, to have the oversight of the Reubenites, the Gadites and the half-tribe of the Manassites for everything pertaining to God and for the affairs of the king. And his brethren, men of valour, <i>were</i> two thousand and seven hundred chief fathers, whom king David made rulers over the Reubenites, the Gadites, and the half tribe of Manasseh, for every matter pertaining to God, and affairs of the king. and his relatives, capable men, <i>numbered</i> 2,700, heads of fathers’ <i>households.</i> And King David appointed them as overseers of the Reubenites, the Gadites, and the half-tribe of the Manassites concerning all the affairs of God and of the king. Jeriah had twenty-seven hundred relatives, who were able men and heads of families, and King David put them in charge of the Reubenites, the Gadites and the half-tribe of Manasseh for every matter pertaining to God and for the affairs of the king.
