Judgment on Moab, Judah, and Israel

1 כֹּ֚ה (Thus) אָמַ֣ר (says) יְהוָ֔ה (YHWH); עַל־ (Over) שְׁלֹשָׁה֙ (three) פִּשְׁעֵ֣י (transgressions) מוֹאָ֔ב (of Moab), וְעַל־ (even over) אַרְבָּעָ֖ה (four), לֹ֣א (not) אֲשִׁיבֶ֑נּוּ (I will turn back) עַל־ (over) שָׂרְפ֛וֹ (his burning) עַצְמ֥וֹת (the bones) מֶֽלֶךְ־ (of the king) אֱד֖וֹם (of Edom) לַשִּֽׂיד׃ (to lime).

2 וְשִׁלַּחְתִּי־ (And I will send) אֵ֣שׁ (a fire) בְּמוֹאָ֔ב (on Moab), וְאָכְלָ֖ה (and it will devour) אַרְמְנ֣וֹת (the citadels) הַקְּרִיּ֑וֹת (of Kerioth); וּמֵ֤ת (and will die) בְּשָׁאוֹן֙ (with a roar), מוֹאָ֔ב (Moab) בִּתְרוּעָ֖ה (with shouting), בְּק֥וֹל (with the voice) שׁוֹפָֽר׃ (of the shofar).

3 וְהִכְרַתִּ֥י (And I will cut off) שׁוֹפֵ֖ט (the judge) מִקִּרְבָּ֑הּ (from her midst) וְכָל־ (and all) שָׂרֶ֛יהָ (her princes) אֶהֱר֥וֹג (I will kill) עִמּ֖וֹ (with him) אָמַ֥ר (says) יְהוָֽה׃פ (YHWH).

4 כֹּ֚ה (Thus) אָמַ֣ר (says) יְהוָ֔ה (YHWH) עַל־ (Over) שְׁלֹשָׁה֙ (three) פִּשְׁעֵ֣י (transgressions) יְהוּדָ֔ה (of Judah), וְעַל־ (even over) אַרְבָּעָ֖ה (four), לֹ֣א (not) אֲשִׁיבֶ֑נּוּ (I will turn back) עַֽל־ (over) מָאֳסָ֞ם (their rejecting) אֶת־ (-) תּוֹרַ֣ת (the law) יְהוָ֗ה (of YHWH) וְחֻקָּיו֙ (and His commandments), לֹ֣א (not) שָׁמָ֔רוּ (they did keep) וַיַּתְעוּם֙ (and have lead them astray), כִּזְבֵיהֶ֔ם (their lies) אֲשֶׁר־ (which) הָלְכ֥וּ (have walked) אֲבוֹתָ֖ם (their fathers) אַחֲרֵיהֶֽם׃ (after).

5 וְשִׁלַּ֥חְתִּי (And I will send) אֵ֖שׁ (a fire) בִּֽיהוּדָ֑ה (on Judah), וְאָכְלָ֖ה (and it will devour) אַרְמְנ֥וֹת (the citadels) יְרוּשָׁלִָֽם׃פ (of Jerusalem).

6 כֹּ֚ה (Thus) אָמַ֣ר (says) יְהוָ֔ה (YHWH); עַל־ (Over) שְׁלֹשָׁה֙ (three) פִּשְׁעֵ֣י (transgressions) יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל (of Israel), וְעַל־ (even over) אַרְבָּעָ֖ה (four), לֹ֣א (not) אֲשִׁיבֶ֑נּוּ (I will turn back) עַל־ (over) מִכְרָ֤ם (their selling) בַּכֶּ֙סֶף֙ (for silver), צַדִּ֔יק (the righteous) וְאֶבְי֖וֹן (and the poor) בַּעֲב֥וּר (for) נַעֲלָֽיִם׃ (a pair of sandals);

7 הַשֹּׁאֲפִ֤ים (they pant) עַל־ (after) עֲפַר־ (the dust) אֶ֙רֶץ֙ (of the earth) בְּרֹ֣אשׁ (on the heads) דַּלִּ֔ים (of the poor), וְדֶ֥רֶךְ (out of their way) עֲנָוִ֖ים (the humble); יַטּ֑וּ (they stretch aside) וְאִ֣ישׁ (and a man) וְאָבִ֗יו (and his father) יֵֽלְכוּ֙ (go) אֶל־ (into) הַֽנַּעֲרָ֔ה (the same girl), לְמַ֥עַן (in order to) חַלֵּ֖ל (defile) אֶת־ (-) שֵׁ֥ם (the name) קָדְשִֽׁי׃ (of My holiness).

8 וְעַל־ (And on) בְּגָדִ֤ים (clothes) חֲבֻלִים֙ (taken in pledge) יַטּ֔וּ (they stretch out) אֵ֖צֶל (beside) כָּל־ (every) מִזְבֵּ֑חַ (altar), וְיֵ֤ין (and the wine) עֲנוּשִׁים֙ (of those having been fined) יִשְׁתּ֔וּ (they drink) בֵּ֖ית (in the house) אֱלֹהֵיהֶֽם׃ (of their God).

9 וְאָ֨נֹכִ֜י (And it was I) הִשְׁמַ֤דְתִּי (who destroyed) אֶת־ (-) הָֽאֱמֹרִי֙ (the Amorite) מִפְּנֵיהֶ֔ם (before their faces) אֲשֶׁ֨ר (whose) כְּגֹ֤בַהּ (like the height) אֲרָזִים֙ (of the cedars), גָּבְה֔וֹ (height was) וְחָסֹ֥ן (and strong) ה֖וּא (he was) כָּֽאַלּוֹנִ֑ים (as the Oaks); וָאַשְׁמִ֤יד (and I destroyed) פִּרְיוֹ֙ (his fruit) מִמַּ֔עַל (above), וְשָׁרָשָׁ֖יו (and his roots) מִתָּֽחַת׃ (beneath).

10 וְאָנֹכִ֛י (And I) הֶעֱלֵ֥יתִי (brought up) אֶתְכֶ֖ם (you⁺) מֵאֶ֣רֶץ (from the land) מִצְרָ֑יִם (of Egypt), וָאוֹלֵ֨ךְ (and I led) אֶתְכֶ֤ם (you⁺) בַּמִּדְבָּר֙ (in the wilderness), אַרְבָּעִ֣ים (forty) שָׁנָ֔ה (years) לָרֶ֖שֶׁת (to possess) אֶת־ (-) אֶ֥רֶץ (the land) הָאֱמֹרִֽי׃ (of the Amorite).

11 וָאָקִ֤ים (And I raised up) מִבְּנֵיכֶם֙ (some of your⁺ sons) לִנְבִיאִ֔ים (as prophets), וּמִבַּחוּרֵיכֶ֖ם (and some of your⁺ young men) לִנְזִרִ֑ים (as Nazirites). הַאַ֥ף (Indeed) אֵֽין־ (Is it not) זֹ֛את (thus), בְּנֵ֥י (O sons) יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל (of Israel)? נְאֻם־ (A declaration) יְהוָֽה׃ (of YHWH).

12 וַתַּשְׁק֥וּ (And you⁺ made to drink); אֶת־ (-) הַנְּזִרִ֖ים (the Nazirites) יָ֑יִן (wine) וְעַל־ (and regarding) הַנְּבִיאִים֙ (the prophets), צִוִּיתֶ֣ם (you⁺ commanded) לֵאמֹ֔ר (saying), לֹ֖א (Not) תִּנָּבְאֽוּ׃ (will you⁺ prophesy).

13 הִנֵּ֛ה (Behold), אָנֹכִ֥י (I) מֵעִ֖יק (am going to press) תַּחְתֵּיכֶ֑ם (you⁺ under) כַּאֲשֶׁ֤ר (as) תָּעִיק֙ (presses down) הָעֲגָלָ֔ה (a cart) הַֽמְלֵאָ֥ה (full of) לָ֖הּ (-) עָמִֽיר׃ (sheaves).

14 וְאָבַ֤ד (And will perish) מָנוֹס֙ (flight) מִקָּ֔ל (from the swift), וְחָזָ֖ק (and the strong) לֹא־ (not) יְאַמֵּ֣ץ (will strengthen) כֹּח֑וֹ (his power), וְגִבּ֖וֹר (and the mighty) לֹא־ (not) יְמַלֵּ֥ט (will deliver) נַפְשֽׁוֹ׃ (his soul).

15 וְתֹפֵ֤שׂ (And the one handling) הַקֶּ֙שֶׁת֙ (the bow); לֹ֣א (not) יַעֲמֹ֔ד (will stand) וְקַ֥ל (and the one swift) בְּרַגְלָ֖יו (in his feet) לֹ֣א (not) יְמַלֵּ֑ט (will escape) וְרֹכֵ֣ב (and the one riding) הַסּ֔וּס (a horse) לֹ֥א (not) יְמַלֵּ֖ט (will deliver) נַפְשֽׁוֹ׃ (his soul).

16 וְאַמִּ֥יץ (And the strong) לִבּ֖וֹ (in his heart) בַּגִּבּוֹרִ֑ים (among the might ones) עָר֛וֹם (naked) יָנ֥וּס (will flee) בַּיּוֹם־ (on the day), הַה֖וּא (that) נְאֻם־ (a declaration) יְהוָֽה׃פ (of YHWH).
