How happy are those whose way is blameless, who walk according to the LORD's instruction! | 1 How blessed are those whose life is blameless, who walk in the Law of the LORD! |
Happy are those who keep his decrees and seek him with all their heart. | 2How blessed are those who observe his decrees, who seek him with all of their heart, |
They do nothing wrong; they walk in his ways. | 3who practice no evil while they walk in his ways. |
You have commanded that your precepts be diligently kept. | 4You have commanded concerning your precepts, that they be guarded with diligence. |
If only my ways were committed to keeping your statutes! | 5Oh, that my ways were steadfast, so I may keep your statutes. |
Then I would not be ashamed when I think about all your commands. | 6Then I will not be ashamed, since my eyes will be fixed on all of your commands. |
I will praise you with an upright heart when I learn your righteous judgments. | 7I will praise you with an upright heart, as I learn your righteous decrees. |
I will keep your statutes; never abandon me. | 8I will keep your statutes; do not ever abandon me. |
How can a young man keep his way pure? By keeping your word. | 9How can a young man keep his behavior pure? By guarding it in accordance with your word. |
I have sought you with all my heart; don't let me wander from your commands. | 10I have sought you with all of my heart; do not let me drift away from your commands. |
I have treasured your word in my heart so that I may not sin against you. | 11I have stored what you have said in my heart, so I won't sin against you. |
LORD, may you be blessed; teach me your statutes. | 12Blessed are you, LORD! Teach me your statutes. |
With my lips I proclaim all the judgments from your mouth. | 13I have spoken with my lips about all your decrees that you have announced. |
I rejoice in the way revealed by your decrees as much as in all riches. | 14I find joy in the path of your decrees, as if I owned all kinds of riches. |
I will meditate on your precepts and think about your ways. | 15I will meditate on your precepts, and I will respect your ways. |
I will delight in your statutes; I will not forget your word. | 16I am delighted with your statutes; I will not forget your word. |
Deal generously with your servant so that I might live; then I will keep your word. | 17Deal kindly with your servant so I may live and keep your word. |
Open my eyes so that I may contemplate wondrous things from your instruction. | 18Open my eyes so that I will observe amazing things from your instruction. |
I am a resident alien on earth; do not hide your commands from me. | 19Since I am a stranger on the earth, do not hide your commands from me. |
I am continually overcome with longing for your judgments. | 20My soul is consumed with longing for your decrees at all times. |
You rebuke the arrogant, the ones under a curse, who wander from your commands. | 21You rebuke the accursed ones, who wander from your commands. |
Take insult and contempt away from me, for I have kept your decrees. | 22Remove scorn and disrespect from me, for I observe your decrees. |
Though princes sit together speaking against me, your servant will think about your statutes; | 23Though nobles take their seat and gossip about me, your servant will meditate on your statutes. |
your decrees are my delight and my counselors. | 24I take joy in your decrees, for they are my counselors. |
My life is down in the dust; give me life through your word. | 25My soul clings to the dust; revive me according to your word. |
I told you about my life, and you answered me; teach me your statutes. | 26I have talked about my ways, and you have answered me; Teach me your statutes. |
Help me understand the meaning of your precepts so that I can meditate on your wonders. | 27Help me understand how your precepts function, and I will meditate on your wondrous acts. |
I am weary from grief; strengthen me through your word. | 28I weep because of sorrow; fortify me according to your word. |
Keep me from the way of deceit and graciously give me your instruction. | 29Remove false paths from me; and graciously give me your instruction. |
I have chosen the way of truth; I have set your ordinances before me. | 30I have chosen the faithful way; I have firmly placed your ordinances before me. |
I cling to your decrees; LORD, do not put me to shame. | 31I cling to your decrees; LORD, do not put me to shame. |
I pursue the way of your commands, for you broaden my understanding. | 32I eagerly race along the way of your commands, for you enable me to do so. |
Teach me, LORD, the meaning of your statutes, and I will always keep them. | 33Teach me, LORD, about the way of your statutes, and I will observe them without fail. |
Help me understand your instruction, and I will obey it and follow it with all my heart. | 34Give me understanding and I will observe your instruction. I will keep it with all of my heart. |
Help me stay on the path of your commands, for I take pleasure in it. | 35Help me live my life by your commands, because my joy is in them. |
Turn my heart to your decrees and not to dishonest profit. | 36Turn my heart to your decrees and away from unjust gain. |
Turn my eyes from looking at what is worthless; give me life in your ways. | 37Turn my eyes away from gazing at worthless things, and revive me by your ways. |
Confirm what you said to your servant, for it produces reverence for you. | 38Confirm your promise to your servant, which is for those who fear you. |
Turn away the disgrace I dread; indeed, your judgments are good. | 39Turn away the shame that I dread, because your ordinances are good. |
How I long for your precepts! Give me life through your righteousness. | 40Look, I long for your precepts; revive me through your righteousness. |
Let your faithful love come to me, LORD, your salvation, as you promised. | 41May your gracious love come to me, LORD, your salvation, just as you said. |
Then I can answer the one who taunts me, for I trust in your word. | 42Then I can answer the one who insults me, for I place my trust in your word. |
Never take the word of truth from my mouth, for I hope in your judgments. | 43Never take your truthful words from me, For I wait for your ordinances. |
I will always obey your instruction, forever and ever. | 44Then I will always keep your Law, forever and ever, |
I will walk freely in an open place because I study your precepts. | 45I will walk in liberty, for I seek your precepts. |
I will speak of your decrees before kings and not be ashamed. | 46Then I will speak of your decrees before kings and not be ashamed. |
I delight in your commands, which I love. | 47I will take delight in your commands, which I love. |
I will lift up my hands to your commands, which I love, and will meditate on your statutes. | 48I will lift up my hands to your commands, which I love, and I will meditate on your statutes. |
Remember your word to your servant; you have given me hope through it. | 49Remember what you said to your servant, by which you caused me to hope. |
This is my comfort in my affliction: Your promise has given me life. | 50This is what comforts me in my troubles: that what you say revives me. |
The arrogant constantly ridicule me, but I do not turn away from your instruction. | 51Even though the arrogant utterly deride me, I do not turn away from your instruction. |
LORD, I remember your judgments from long ago and find comfort. | 52I have remembered your ancient ordinances, LORD, and I take comfort in them. |
Rage seizes me because of the wicked who reject your instruction. | 53I burn with indignation because of the wicked who forsake your instruction. |
Your statutes are the theme of my song during my earthly life. | 54Your statutes are my songs, no matter where I make my home. |
LORD, I remember your name in the night, and I obey your instruction. | 55In the night I remember your name, LORD, and keep your instruction. |
This is my practice: I obey your precepts. | 56I have made it my personal responsibility to keep your precepts. |
The LORD is my portion; I have promised to keep your words. | 57The LORD is my inheritance; I have given my promise to keep your word. |
I have sought your favor with all my heart; be gracious to me according to your promise. | 58I have sought your favor with all of my heart; be gracious to me according to your promise. |
I thought about my ways and turned my steps back to your decrees. | 59I examined my lifestyle and set my feet in the direction of your decrees. |
I hurried, not hesitating to keep your commands. | 60I hurried and did not procrastinate to keep your commands. |
Though the ropes of the wicked were wrapped around me, I did not forget your instruction. | 61Though the ropes of the wicked have ensnared me, I have not forgotten your instruction. |
I rise at midnight to thank you for your righteous judgments. | 62At midnight I will get up to thank you for your righteous ordinances. |
I am a friend to all who fear you, to those who keep your precepts. | 63I am united with all who fear you, and with everyone who keeps your precepts. |
LORD, the earth is filled with your faithful love; teach me your statutes. | 64LORD, the earth overflows with your gracious love! Teach me your statutes. |
LORD, you have treated your servant well, just as you promised. | 65LORD, you have dealt well with your servant, according to your word. |
Teach me good judgment and discernment, for I rely on your commands. | 66Teach me both knowledge and appropriate discretion, because I believe in your commands. |
Before I was afflicted I went astray, but now I keep your word. | 67Before I was humbled, I wandered away, but now I observe your words. |
You are good, and you do what is good; teach me your statutes. | 68LORD, you are good , and do what is good; teach me your statutes. |
The arrogant have smeared me with lies, but I obey your precepts with all my heart. | 69The arrogant have accused me falsely; but I will observe your precepts wholeheartedly. |
Their hearts are hard and insensitive, but I delight in your instruction. | 70Their minds are clogged as with greasy fat, but I find joy in your instruction. |
It was good for me to be afflicted so that I could learn your statutes. | 71It was for my good that I was humbled; so that I would learn your statutes. |
Instruction from your lips is better for me than thousands of gold and silver pieces. | 72Instruction that comes from you is better for me than thousands of gold and silver coins. |
Your hands made me and formed me; give me understanding so that I can learn your commands. | 73Your hands made and formed me; give me understanding, that I may learn your commands. |
Those who fear you will see me and rejoice, for I put my hope in your word. | 74May those who fear you see me and be glad, for I have hoped in your word. |
I know, LORD, that your judgments are just and that you have afflicted me fairly. | 75I know, LORD, that your decrees are just, and that you have rightfully humbled me. |
May your faithful love comfort me as you promised your servant. | 76May your gracious love comfort me in accordance with your promise to your servant. |
May your compassion come to me so that I may live, for your instruction is my delight. | 77May your mercies come to me that I may live, for your instruction is my delight. |
Let the arrogant be put to shame for slandering me with lies; I will meditate on your precepts. | 78May the arrogant become ashamed, because they have subverted me with deceit; as for me, I will meditate on your precepts. |
Let those who fear you, those who know your decrees, turn to me. | 79May those who fear you turn to me, along with those who know your decrees. |
May my heart be blameless regarding your statutes so that I will not be put to shame. | 80May my heart be blameless with respect to your statutes so that I may not become ashamed. |
I long for your salvation; I put my hope in your word. | 81I long for your deliverance; I have looked to your word, placing my hope in it. |
My eyes grow weary looking for what you have promised; I ask, "When will you comfort me?" | 82My eyes grow weary with respect to what you have promised— I keep asking, "When will you comfort me?" |
Though I have become like a wineskin dried by smoke, I do not forget your statutes. | 83Though I have become like a water skin dried by smoke, I have not forgotten your statutes. |
How many days must your servant wait? When will you execute judgment on my persecutors? | 84How many days must your servant endure this? When will you judge those who persecute me? |
The arrogant have dug pits for me; they violate your instruction. | 85The arrogant have dug pitfalls for me disobeying your instruction. |
All your commands are true; people persecute me with lies--help me! | 86All of your commands are reliable. I am persecuted without cause—help me! |
They almost ended my life on earth, but I did not abandon your precepts. | 87Though the arrogant nearly destroyed me on earth, I did not abandon your precepts. |
Give me life in accordance with your faithful love, and I will obey the decree you have spoken. | 88Revive me according to your gracious love; and I will keep the decrees that you have proclaimed. |
LORD, your word is forever; it is firmly fixed in heaven. | 89Your word is forever, LORD; it is firmly established in heaven. |
Your faithfulness is for all generations; you established the earth, and it stands firm. | 90Your faithfulness continues from generation to generation. You established the earth, and it stands firm. |
Your judgments stand firm today, for all things are your servants. | 91To this day they stand by means of your rulings, for all things serve you. |
If your instruction had not been my delight, I would have died in my affliction. | 92Had your instruction not been my pleasure, I would have died in my affliction. |
I will never forget your precepts, for you have given me life through them. | 93I will never forget your precepts, for you have revived me with them. |
I am yours; save me, for I have studied your precepts. | 94I am yours, so save me, since I have sought your precepts. |
The wicked hope to destroy me, but I contemplate your decrees. | 95The wicked lay in wait to destroy me, while I ponder your decrees. |
I have seen a limit to all perfection, but your command is without limit. | 96I have observed that all things have their limit, but your commandment is very broad. |
How I love your instruction! It is my meditation all day long. | 97How I love your instruction! Every day it is my meditation. |
Your commands make me wiser than my enemies, for they are always with me. | 98Your commands make me wiser than my adversaries, since they are always with me. |
I have more insight than all my teachers because your decrees are my meditation. | 99I am more insightful than my teachers, because your decrees are my meditations. |
I understand more than the elders because I obey your precepts. | 100I have more common sense than the elders, for I observe your precepts. |
I have kept my feet from every evil path to follow your word. | 101I keep away from every evil choice so that I may keep your word. |
I have not turned from your judgments, for you yourself have instructed me. | 102I do not avoid your judgments, for you pointed them out to me. |
How sweet your word is to my taste--sweeter than honey in my mouth. | 103How pleasing is what you have to say to me— tasting better than honey. |
I gain understanding from your precepts; therefore I hate every false way. | 104I obtain understanding from your precepts; therefore I hate every false way. |
Your word is a lamp for my feet and a light on my path. | 105Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light for my pathway. |
I have solemnly sworn to keep your righteous judgments. | 106I have given my word and affirmed it, to keep your righteous judgments. |
I am severely afflicted; LORD, give me life according to your word. | 107I am severely afflicted. Revive me, LORD, according to your word. |
LORD, please accept my freewill offerings of praise, and teach me your judgments. | 108LORD, please accept my voluntary offerings of praise, and teach me your judgments. |
My life is constantly in danger, yet I do not forget your instruction. | 109Though I constantly take my life in my hands, I do not forget your instruction. |
The wicked have set a trap for me, but I have not wandered from your precepts. | 110Though the wicked lay a trap for me, I haven't wandered away from your precepts. |
I have your decrees as a heritage forever; indeed, they are the joy of my heart. | 111I have inherited your decrees forever, because they are the joy of my heart. |
I am resolved to obey your statutes to the very end. | 112As a result, I am determined to carry out your statutes forever. |
I hate those who are double-minded, but I love your instruction. | 113I despise the double-minded, but I love your instruction. |
You are my shelter and my shield; I put my hope in your word. | 114You are my fortress and shield; I hope in your word. |
Depart from me, you evil ones, so that I may obey my God's commands. | 115Leave me, you who practice evil, that I may observe the commands of my God. |
Sustain me as you promised, and I will live; do not let me be ashamed of my hope. | 116Sustain me, God, as you have promised, and I will live. Do not let me be ashamed of my hope. |
Sustain me so that I can be safe and always be concerned about your statutes. | 117Support me, that I may be saved, and I will carry out your statutes consistently. |
You reject all who stray from your statutes, for their deceit is a lie. | 118You reject all who wander from your statutes, since their deceitfulness is vain. |
You remove all the wicked on earth as if they were dross from metal; therefore, I love your decrees. | 119You remove all the wicked of the earth like dross; therefore I love your decrees. |
I tremble in awe of you; I fear your judgments. | 120My flesh trembles out of fear of you, and I am in awe of your judgments. |
I have done what is just and right; do not leave me to my oppressors. | 121I have acted with justice and righteousness; do not abandon me to my oppressors. |
Guarantee your servant's well-being; do not let the arrogant oppress me. | 122Back up your servant in a positive way; do not let the arrogant oppress me. |
My eyes grow weary looking for your salvation and for your righteous promise. | 123My eyes fail as I look for your salvation and for your righteous promise. |
Deal with your servant based on your faithful love; teach me your statutes. | 124Act toward your servant consistent with your gracious love, and teach me your statutes. |
I am your servant; give me understanding so that I may know your decrees. | 125Since I am your servant, give me understanding, so I will know your decrees. |
It is time for the LORD to act, for they have violated your instruction. | 126It is time for the LORD to act, since they have violated your instruction. |
Since I love your commands more than gold, even the purest gold, | 127I truly love your commands more than gold, including fine gold. |
I carefully follow all your precepts and hate every false way. | 128I truly consider all of your precepts—all of them—to be just, while I despise every false way. |
Your decrees are wondrous; therefore I obey them. | 129Your decrees are wonderful— that's why I observe them. |
The revelation of your words brings light and gives understanding to the inexperienced. | 130The disclosure of your words illuminates, providing understanding to the simple. |
I open my mouth and pant because I long for your commands. | 131I open my mouth and pant as I long for your commands. |
Turn to me and be gracious to me, as is your practice toward those who love your name. | 132Turn in my direction and show mercy to me, as you have decreed regarding those who love your name. |
Make my steps steady through your promise; don't let any sin dominate me. | 133Direct my footsteps by your promise, and do not let any kind of iniquity rule over me. |
Redeem me from human oppression, and I will keep your precepts. | 134Deliver me from human oppression and I will keep your precepts. |
Make your face shine on your servant, and teach me your statutes. | 135Show favor to your servant, and teach me your statutes. |
My eyes pour out streams of tears because people do not follow your instruction. | 136My eyes shed rivers of tears, when others do not obey your instruction. |
You are righteous, LORD, and your judgments are just. | 137LORD, you are righteous, and your judgments are right. |
The decrees you issue are righteous and altogether trustworthy. | 138You have ordered your decrees to us rightly, and they are very faithful. |
My anger overwhelms me because my foes forget your words. | 139My zeal consumes me because my enemies forget your words. |
Your word is completely pure, and your servant loves it. | 140Your word is very pure, and your servant loves it. |
I am insignificant and despised, but I do not forget your precepts. | 141Though I may be small and despised, I do not neglect your precepts. |
Your righteousness is an everlasting righteousness, and your instruction is true. | 142Your righteousness is an eternal righteousness, and your instruction is true. |
Trouble and distress have overtaken me, but your commands are my delight. | 143Though trouble and anguish overwhelm me, your commands remain my delight. |
Your decrees are righteous forever. Give me understanding, and I will live. | 144Your righteous decrees are eternal; give me understanding, and I will live. |
I call with all my heart; answer me, LORD. I will obey your statutes. | 145I have cried out with all of my heart. Answer me, LORD! I will observe your statutes. |
I call to you; save me, and I will keep your decrees. | 146I have called out to you, "Save me, so I may keep your decrees." |
I rise before dawn and cry out for help; I put my hope in your word. | 147I get up before dawn and cry for help; I place my hope in your word. |
I am awake through each watch of the night to meditate on your promise. | 148I look forward to the night watches, when I may meditate on what you have said. |
In keeping with your faithful love, hear my voice. LORD, give me life in keeping with your justice. | 149Hear my voice according to your gracious love. LORD, revive me in keeping with your justice. |
Those who pursue evil plans come near; they are far from your instruction. | 150Those who pursue wickedness draw near; they remain far from your instruction. |
You are near, LORD, and all your commands are true. | 151You are near, LORD, and all of your commands are true. |
Long ago I learned from your decrees that you have established them forever. | 152I discovered long ago about your decrees that you have confirmed them forever. |
Consider my affliction and rescue me, for I have not forgotten your instruction. | 153Look on my misery, and rescue me, for I do not ignore your instruction. |
Champion my cause and redeem me; give me life as you promised. | 154Defend my case and redeem me; revive me according to your promise. |
Salvation is far from the wicked because they do not study your statutes. | 155Deliverance remains remote from the wicked, for they do not seek your statutes. |
Your compassions are many, LORD; give me life according to your judgments. | 156Your mercies are magnificent, LORD; revive me according to your judgments. |
My persecutors and foes are many. I have not turned from your decrees. | 157Though my persecutors and adversaries are numerous, I do not turn aside from your decrees. |
I have seen the disloyal and feel disgust because they do not keep your word. | 158I watch the treacherous, and despise them, because they do not do what you have said. |
Consider how I love your precepts; LORD, give me life according to your faithful love. | 159Look how I love your precepts, LORD; revive me according to your gracious love. |
The entirety of your word is truth, each of your righteous judgments endures forever. | 160The sum of your word is truth, and each righteous ordinance of yours is everlasting. |
Princes have persecuted me without cause, but my heart fears only your word. | 161Though nobles persecute me for no reason, my heart stands in awe of your words. |
I rejoice over your promise like one who finds vast treasure. | 162I find joy at what you have said like one who has discovered a great treasure. |
I hate and abhor falsehood, but I love your instruction. | 163I despise and hate falsehood, but I love your instruction. |
I praise you seven times a day for your righteous judgments. | 164I praise you seven times a day because of your righteous ordinances. |
Abundant peace belongs to those who love your instruction; nothing makes them stumble. | 165Great peace belongs to those who love your instruction, and nothing makes them stumble. |
LORD, I hope for your salvation and carry out your commands. | 166I am looking in hope for your deliverance, LORD, as I carry out your commands. |
I obey your decrees and love them greatly. | 167My soul treasures your decrees, and I love them deeply. |
I obey your precepts and decrees, for all my ways are before you. | 168I keep your precepts and your decrees because all of my ways are before you. |
Let my cry reach you, LORD; give me understanding according to your word. | 169May my cry arise before you, LORD; give me understanding according to your word. |
Let my plea reach you; rescue me according to your promise. | 170Let my request come before you; deliver me, as you have promised. |
My lips pour out praise, for you teach me your statutes. | 171May my lips utter praise, for you teach me your statutes. |
My tongue sings about your promise, for all your commands are righteous. | 172May my tongue sing about your promise, for all of your commands are right. |
May your hand be ready to help me, for I have chosen your precepts. | 173May your hand stand ready to assist me, for I have chosen your precepts. |
I long for your salvation, LORD, and your instruction is my delight. | 174I am longing for your deliverance, LORD, and your instruction is my joy. |
Let me live, and I will praise you; may your judgments help me. | 175Let me live, and I will praise you; let your ordinances help me. |
I wander like a lost sheep; seek your servant, for I do not forget your commands. | 176I have wandered away like a lost sheep; come find your servant, for I do not forget your commands. |
