1 Corinthians 11
Peshitta Holy Bible Translated Par ▾
1Imitate me just as I also do The Messiah.

2I praise you my brethren, that in everything you remember me, and just as I have delivered you commandments, you are keeping them. 3But I want you to know that the head of every man is The Messiah, and the head of the woman is the man, and the head of The Messiah is God. 4And every man who prays or prophesies while covering his head disgraces his head. 5And every woman praying or prophesying, while revealing her head, disgraces her head, for she is equal with her whose head is shaven. 6For if a woman is not covered, she should also be sheared, but if it is a disgrace for a woman to be sheared or shaven, let her be covered. 7For a man ought not to cover his head, because he is the image and the glory of God, but a woman is the glory of Man. 8For Man is not from Woman, but Woman is from Man. 9For neither was Man created for the sake of Woman, but Woman for the sake of Man. 10Because of this, a woman is obligated to have authority over her head, for the sake of the Angels. 11However, a man is not without a woman, neither a woman without a man, in Our Lord. 12Just as Woman is from Man, in this way also, a man is by a woman, but everything is from God. 13Judge among yourselves; is it right for a woman to pray to God while revealing her head? 14Does not even nature teach you that when a man has grown his hair, it is a disgrace to him? 15And whenever a woman grows her hair, it is a glory to her, because her hair is given to her in place of a covering. 16But if a man disputes against these things, we have no such custom, neither does the church of God.

17But I command you this, not as if I praise you, because it is not to your advantage that you assemble, but you have descended to degradation. 18For whenever you gather with the assembly, I have heard that there is division among you, and certain things I believe. 19There are going to be contentions among you, that those who are approved among you may be known. 20When therefore you assemble, it is not according to what is appropriate for the day of our Lord that you eat and drink. 21But one or another eats his supper beforehand by himself and one has been hungry and one has been drunk! 22Do you not have houses in which to eat and drink or do you despise the Church of God and shame those who have not? What shall I say to you? Shall I praise you in this? I do not praise you!

23For I have received from our Lord that thing which I handed to you, that our Lord Yeshua, in that night in which he was betrayed, took bread, 24And he blessed and he broke and he said, “Take eat; this is my body, which is broken for your persons; thus you shall do for my Memorial. 25So after they had dined, he also gave the cup, and he said, “This cup is The New Covenant in my blood. You shall be so doing every time that you drink for my Memorial.” 26For every time that you eat this bread and you drink this cup, you commemorate the death of Our Lord, until his coming.

27Whoever therefore eats from the bread of THE LORD JEHOVAH and drinks from his cup and is unworthy of it, is guilty for the blood of THE LORD JEHOVAH and for his body. 28Because of this, let a man search his soul, and then eat of this bread and drink from this cup. 29For whoever eats and drinks from it being unworthy, eats and drinks a guilty verdict into his soul for not distinguishing the body of THE LORD JEHOVAH. 30Because of this, many among you are ill and sickly and many are asleep. 31For if we would judge ourselves we would not be judged. 32But when we are judged by Our Lord, we are chastised so that we would not be condemned with the world.

33From now on, my brethren, whenever you assemble to eat, you shall wait one for another. 34But whoever is hungry, let him eat in his house, lest you will be assembling for condemnation; but concerning the rest, when I come, I shall give you orders.
