God's Restoration of Israel

NIVESVNASBKJVHCSB
The LORD will have compassion on Jacob; once again he will choose Israel and will settle them in their own land. Foreigners will join them and unite with the descendants of Jacob.1For the LORD will have compassion on Jacob and will again choose Israel, and will set them in their own land, and sojourners will join them and will attach themselves to the house of Jacob.1When the LORD will have compassion on Jacob and again choose Israel, and settle them in their own land, then strangers will join them and attach themselves to the house of Jacob.1For the LORD will have mercy on Jacob, and will yet choose Israel, and set them in their own land: and the strangers shall be joined with them, and they shall cleave to the house of Jacob.1For the LORD will have compassion on Jacob and will choose Israel again. He will settle them on their own land. The foreigner will join them and be united with the house of Jacob.
Nations will take them and bring them to their own place. And Israel will take possession of the nations and make them male and female servants in the LORD's land. They will make captives of their captors and rule over their oppressors.2And the peoples will take them and bring them to their place, and the house of Israel will possess them in the LORD’s land as male and female slaves. They will take captive those who were their captors, and rule over those who oppressed them.2The peoples will take them along and bring them to their place, and the house of Israel will possess them as an inheritance in the land of the LORD as male servants and female servants; and they will take their captors captive and will rule over their oppressors.2And the people shall take them, and bring them to their place: and the house of Israel shall possess them in the land of the LORD for servants and handmaids: and they shall take them captives, whose captives they were; and they shall rule over their oppressors.2The nations will escort Israel and bring it to its homeland. Then the house of Israel will possess them as male and female slaves in the LORD's land. They will make captives of their captors and will rule over their oppressors.

Triumphant Exultation over Babel

On the day the LORD gives you relief from your suffering and turmoil and from the harsh labor forced on you,3When the LORD has given you rest from your pain and turmoil and the hard service with which you were made to serve,3And it will be in the day when the LORD gives you rest from your pain and turmoil and harsh service in which you have been enslaved,3And it shall come to pass in the day that the LORD shall give thee rest from thy sorrow, and from thy fear, and from the hard bondage wherein thou wast made to serve,3When the LORD gives you rest from your pain, torment, and the hard labor you were forced to do,
you will take up this taunt against the king of Babylon: How the oppressor has come to an end! How his fury has ended!4you will take up this taunt against the king of Babylon: “How the oppressor has ceased, the insolent fury ceased!4that you will take up this taunt against the king of Babylon, and say, "How the oppressor has ceased, And how fury has ceased!4That thou shalt take up this proverb against the king of Babylon, and say, How hath the oppressor ceased! the golden city ceased!4you will sing this song of contempt about the king of Babylon and say: How the oppressor has quieted down, and how the raging has become quiet!
The LORD has broken the rod of the wicked, the scepter of the rulers,5The LORD has broken the staff of the wicked, the scepter of rulers,5"The LORD has broken the staff of the wicked, The scepter of rulers5The LORD hath broken the staff of the wicked, and the sceptre of the rulers.5The LORD has broken the staff of the wicked, the scepter of the rulers.
which in anger struck down peoples with unceasing blows, and in fury subdued nations with relentless aggression.6that struck the peoples in wrath with unceasing blows, that ruled the nations in anger with unrelenting persecution.6Which used to strike the peoples in fury with unceasing strokes, Which subdued the nations in anger with unrestrained persecution.6He who smote the people in wrath with a continual stroke, he that ruled the nations in anger, is persecuted, and none hindereth.6It struck the peoples in anger with unceasing blows. It subdued the nations in rage with relentless persecution.

All the lands are at rest and at peace; they break into singing.7The whole earth is at rest and quiet; they break forth into singing.7"The whole earth is at rest and is quiet; They break forth into shouts of joy.7The whole earth is at rest, and is quiet: they break forth into singing.7All the earth is calm and at rest; people shout with a ringing cry.
Even the junipers and the cedars of Lebanon gloat over you and say, "Now that you have been laid low, no one comes to cut us down."8The cypresses rejoice at you, the cedars of Lebanon, saying, ‘Since you were laid low, no woodcutter comes up against us.’8"Even the cypress trees rejoice over you, and the cedars of Lebanon, saying, 'Since you were laid low, no tree cutter comes up against us.'8Yea, the fir trees rejoice at thee, and the cedars of Lebanon, saying, Since thou art laid down, no feller is come up against us.8Even the cypresses and the cedars of Lebanon rejoice over you:" Since you have been laid low, no woodcutter has come against us."
The realm of the dead below is all astir to meet you at your coming; it rouses the spirits of the departed to greet you-- all those who were leaders in the world; it makes them rise from their thrones-- all those who were kings over the nations.9Sheol beneath is stirred up to meet you when you come; it rouses the shades to greet you, all who were leaders of the earth; it raises from their thrones all who were kings of the nations.9"Sheol from beneath is excited over you to meet you when you come; It arouses for you the spirits of the dead, all the leaders of the earth; It raises all the kings of the nations from their thrones.9Hell from beneath is moved for thee to meet thee at thy coming: it stirreth up the dead for thee, even all the chief ones of the earth; it hath raised up from their thrones all the kings of the nations.9Sheol below is eager to greet your coming. He stirs up the spirits of the departed for you-- all the rulers of the earth. He makes all the kings of the nations rise from their thrones.
They will all respond, they will say to you, "You also have become weak, as we are; you have become like us."10All of them will answer and say to you: ‘You too have become as weak as we! You have become like us!’10"They will all respond and say to you, 'Even you have been made weak as we, You have become like us.10All they shall speak and say unto thee, Art thou also become weak as we? art thou become like unto us?10They all respond to you, saying:" You too have become as weak as we are; you have become like us!
All your pomp has been brought down to the grave, along with the noise of your harps; maggots are spread out beneath you and worms cover you.11Your pomp is brought down to Sheol, the sound of your harps; maggots are laid as a bed beneath you, and worms are your covers.11Your pomp and the music of your harps Have been brought down to Sheol; Maggots are spread out as your bed beneath you And worms are your covering.'11Thy pomp is brought down to the grave, and the noise of thy viols: the worm is spread under thee, and the worms cover thee.11Your splendor has been brought down to Sheol, along with the music of your harps. Maggots are spread out under you, and worms cover you."

How you have fallen from heaven, morning star, son of the dawn! You have been cast down to the earth, you who once laid low the nations!12“How you are fallen from heaven, O Day Star, son of Dawn! How you are cut down to the ground, you who laid the nations low!12"How you have fallen from heaven, O star of the morning, son of the dawn! You have been cut down to the earth, You who have weakened the nations!12How art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! how art thou cut down to the ground, which didst weaken the nations!12Shining morning star, how you have fallen from the heavens! You destroyer of nations, you have been cut down to the ground.
You said in your heart, "I will ascend to the heavens; I will raise my throne above the stars of God; I will sit enthroned on the mount of assembly, on the utmost heights of Mount Zaphon.13You said in your heart, ‘I will ascend to heaven; above the stars of God I will set my throne on high; I will sit on the mount of assembly in the far reaches of the north;13"But you said in your heart, 'I will ascend to heaven; I will raise my throne above the stars of God, And I will sit on the mount of assembly In the recesses of the north.13For thou hast said in thine heart, I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God: I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the north:13You said to yourself:" I will ascend to the heavens; I will set up my throne above the stars of God. I will sit on the mount of the gods' assembly, in the remotest parts of the North.
I will ascend above the tops of the clouds; I will make myself like the Most High."14I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will make myself like the Most High.’14'I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will make myself like the Most High.'14I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will be like the most High.14I will ascend above the highest clouds; I will make myself like the Most High."
But you are brought down to the realm of the dead, to the depths of the pit.15But you are brought down to Sheol, to the far reaches of the pit.15"Nevertheless you will be thrust down to Sheol, To the recesses of the pit.15Yet thou shalt be brought down to hell, to the sides of the pit.15But you will be brought down to Sheol into the deepest regions of the Pit.
Those who see you stare at you, they ponder your fate: "Is this the man who shook the earth and made kingdoms tremble,16Those who see you will stare at you and ponder over you: ‘Is this the man who made the earth tremble, who shook kingdoms,16"Those who see you will gaze at you, They will ponder over you, saying, 'Is this the man who made the earth tremble, Who shook kingdoms,16They that see thee shall narrowly look upon thee, and consider thee, saying, Is this the man that made the earth to tremble, that did shake kingdoms;16Those who see you will stare at you; they will look closely at you:" Is this the man who caused the earth to tremble, who shook the kingdoms,

the man who made the world a wilderness, who overthrew its cities and would not let his captives go home?"17who made the world like a desert and overthrew its cities, who did not let his prisoners go home?’17Who made the world like a wilderness And overthrew its cities, Who did not allow his prisoners to go home?'17That made the world as a wilderness, and destroyed the cities thereof; that opened not the house of his prisoners?17who turned the world into a wilderness, who destroyed its cities and would not release the prisoners to return home?"
All the kings of the nations lie in state, each in his own tomb.18All the kings of the nations lie in glory, each in his own tomb;18"All the kings of the nations lie in glory, Each in his own tomb.18All the kings of the nations, even all of them, lie in glory, every one in his own house.18All the kings of the nations lie in splendor, each in his own tomb.
But you are cast out of your tomb like a rejected branch; you are covered with the slain, with those pierced by the sword, those who descend to the stones of the pit. Like a corpse trampled underfoot,19but you are cast out, away from your grave, like a loathed branch, clothed with the slain, those pierced by the sword, who go down to the stones of the pit, like a dead body trampled underfoot.19"But you have been cast out of your tomb Like a rejected branch, Clothed with the slain who are pierced with a sword, Who go down to the stones of the pit Like a trampled corpse.19But thou art cast out of thy grave like an abominable branch, and as the raiment of those that are slain, thrust through with a sword, that go down to the stones of the pit; as a carcase trodden under feet.19But you are thrown out without a grave, like a worthless branch, covered by those slain with the sword and dumped into a rocky pit like a trampled corpse.
you will not join them in burial, for you have destroyed your land and killed your people. Let the offspring of the wicked never be mentioned again.20You will not be joined with them in burial, because you have destroyed your land, you have slain your people. “May the offspring of evildoers nevermore be named!20"You will not be united with them in burial, Because you have ruined your country, You have slain your people. May the offspring of evildoers not be mentioned forever.20Thou shalt not be joined with them in burial, because thou hast destroyed thy land, and slain thy people: the seed of evildoers shall never be renowned.20You will not join them in burial, because you destroyed your land and slaughtered your own people. The offspring of evildoers will never be remembered.
Prepare a place to slaughter his children for the sins of their ancestors; they are not to rise to inherit the land and cover the earth with their cities.21Prepare slaughter for his sons because of the guilt of their fathers, lest they rise and possess the earth, and fill the face of the world with cities.”21"Prepare for his sons a place of slaughter Because of the iniquity of their fathers. They must not arise and take possession of the earth And fill the face of the world with cities."21Prepare slaughter for his children for the iniquity of their fathers; that they do not rise, nor possess the land, nor fill the face of the world with cities.21Prepare a place of slaughter for his sons, because of the iniquity of their fathers. They will never rise up to possess a land or fill the surface of the earth with cities."

"I will rise up against them," declares the LORD Almighty. "I will wipe out Babylon's name and survivors, her offspring and descendants," declares the LORD.22“I will rise up against them,” declares the LORD of hosts, “and will cut off from Babylon name and remnant, descendants and posterity,” declares the LORD.22"I will rise up against them," declares the LORD of hosts, "and will cut off from Babylon name and survivors, offspring and posterity," declares the LORD.22For I will rise up against them, saith the LORD of hosts, and cut off from Babylon the name, and remnant, and son, and nephew, saith the LORD.22I will rise up against them"--this is the declaration of the LORD of Hosts--"and I will cut off from Babylon her reputation, remnant, offspring, and posterity"--this is the LORD's declaration. "
"I will turn her into a place for owls and into swampland; I will sweep her with the broom of destruction," declares the LORD Almighty.23“And I will make it a possession of the hedgehog, and pools of water, and I will sweep it with the broom of destruction,” declares the LORD of hosts.23"I will also make it a possession for the hedgehog and swamps of water, and I will sweep it with the broom of destruction," declares the LORD of hosts.23I will also make it a possession for the bittern, and pools of water: and I will sweep it with the besom of destruction, saith the LORD of hosts.23I will make her a swampland and a region for screech owls, and I will sweep her away with a broom of destruction." This is the declaration of the LORD of Hosts.

God's Purpose against Assyria

NIVESVNASBKJVHCSB
The LORD Almighty has sworn, "Surely, as I have planned, so it will be, and as I have purposed, so it will happen.24The LORD of hosts has sworn: “As I have planned, so shall it be, and as I have purposed, so shall it stand,24The LORD of hosts has sworn saying, "Surely, just as I have intended so it has happened, and just as I have planned so it will stand,24The LORD of hosts hath sworn, saying, Surely as I have thought, so shall it come to pass; and as I have purposed, so shall it stand:24The LORD of Hosts has sworn: As I have purposed, so it will be; as I have planned it, so it will happen.
I will crush the Assyrian in my land; on my mountains I will trample him down. His yoke will be taken from my people, and his burden removed from their shoulders."25that I will break the Assyrian in my land, and on my mountains trample him underfoot; and his yoke shall depart from them, and his burden from their shoulder.”25to break Assyria in My land, and I will trample him on My mountains. Then his yoke will be removed from them and his burden removed from their shoulder.25That I will break the Assyrian in my land, and upon my mountains tread him under foot: then shall his yoke depart from off them, and his burden depart from off their shoulders.25I will break Assyria in My land; I will tread him down on My mountain. Then his yoke will be taken from them, and his burden will be removed from their shoulders.
This is the plan determined for the whole world; this is the hand stretched out over all nations.26This is the purpose that is purposed concerning the whole earth, and this is the hand that is stretched out over all the nations.26"This is the plan devised against the whole earth; and this is the hand that is stretched out against all the nations.26This is the purpose that is purposed upon the whole earth: and this is the hand that is stretched out upon all the nations.26This is the plan prepared for the whole earth, and this is the hand stretched out against all the nations.
For the LORD Almighty has purposed, and who can thwart him? His hand is stretched out, and who can turn it back?27For the LORD of hosts has purposed, and who will annul it? His hand is stretched out, and who will turn it back?27"For the LORD of hosts has planned, and who can frustrate it? And as for His stretched-out hand, who can turn it back?"27For the LORD of hosts hath purposed, and who shall disannul it? and his hand is stretched out, and who shall turn it back?27The LORD of Hosts Himself has planned it; therefore, who can stand in its way? It is His hand that is outstretched, so who can turn it back?

Philistia will Be Destroyed

NIVESVNASBKJVHCSB
This prophecy came in the year King Ahaz died:28In the year that King Ahaz died came this oracle:28In the year that King Ahaz died this oracle came:28In the year that king Ahaz died was this burden.28In the year that King Ahaz died, this oracle came:
Do not rejoice, all you Philistines, that the rod that struck you is broken; from the root of that snake will spring up a viper, its fruit will be a darting, venomous serpent.29Rejoice not, O Philistia, all of you, that the rod that struck you is broken, for from the serpent’s root will come forth an adder, and its fruit will be a flying fiery serpent.29"Do not rejoice, O Philistia, all of you, Because the rod that struck you is broken; For from the serpent's root a viper will come out, And its fruit will be a flying serpent.29Rejoice not thou, whole Palestina, because the rod of him that smote thee is broken: for out of the serpent's root shall come forth a cockatrice, and his fruit shall be a fiery flying serpent.29Don't rejoice, all of you in Philistia, because the rod of the one who struck you is broken. For a viper will come from the root of a snake, and from its egg comes a flying serpent.
The poorest of the poor will find pasture, and the needy will lie down in safety. But your root I will destroy by famine; it will slay your survivors.30And the firstborn of the poor will graze, and the needy lie down in safety; but I will kill your root with famine, and your remnant it will slay.30"Those who are most helpless will eat, And the needy will lie down in security; I will destroy your root with famine, And it will kill off your survivors.30And the firstborn of the poor shall feed, and the needy shall lie down in safety: and I will kill thy root with famine, and he shall slay thy remnant.30Then the firstborn of the poor will be well fed, and the impoverished will lie down in safety, but I will kill your root with hunger, and your remnant will be slain.
Wail, you gate! Howl, you city! Melt away, all you Philistines! A cloud of smoke comes from the north, and there is not a straggler in its ranks.31Wail, O gate; cry out, O city; melt in fear, O Philistia, all of you! For smoke comes out of the north, and there is no straggler in his ranks.31"Wail, O gate; cry, O city; Melt away, O Philistia, all of you; For smoke comes from the north, And there is no straggler in his ranks.31Howl, O gate; cry, O city; thou, whole Palestina, art dissolved: for there shall come from the north a smoke, and none shall be alone in his appointed times.31Wail, you gates! Cry out, city! Tremble with fear, all Philistia! For a cloud of dust is coming from the north, and there is no one missing from the invader's ranks.
What answer shall be given to the envoys of that nation? "The LORD has established Zion, and in her his afflicted people will find refuge."32What will one answer the messengers of the nation? “The LORD has founded Zion, and in her the afflicted of his people find refuge.”32"How then will one answer the messengers of the nation? That the LORD has founded Zion, And the afflicted of His people will seek refuge in it."32What shall one then answer the messengers of the nation? That the LORD hath founded Zion, and the poor of his people shall trust in it.32What answer will be given to the messengers from that nation? The LORD has founded Zion, and His afflicted people find refuge in her.
