Ahab’s Seventy Sons Killed

1  וּלְאַחְאָ֛ב (And Ahab had) שִׁבְעִ֥ים (seventy) בָּנִ֖ים (sons) בְּשֹׁמְר֑וֹן (in Samaria). וַיִּכְתֹּב֩ (And wrote) יֵה֨וּא (Jehu) סְפָרִ֜ים (letters) וַיִּשְׁלַ֣ח (and sent) שֹׁמְר֗וֹן (to Samaria) אֶל־ (to) שָׂרֵ֤י (the rulers) יִזְרְעֶאל֙ (of Jezreel), הַזְּקֵנִ֔ים (to the elders), וְאֶל־ (and to) הָאֹמְנִ֥ים (those supporting) אַחְאָ֖ב (Ahab), לֵאמֹֽר׃ (saying), 2  וְעַתָּ֗ה (And now) כְּבֹ֨א (at the coming in) הַסֵּ֤פֶר (of the letter) הַזֶּה֙ (this) אֲלֵיכֶ֔ם (to you⁺)— וְאִתְּכֶ֖ם (and with you⁺) בְּנֵ֣י (are sons) אֲדֹנֵיכֶ֑ם (of your⁺ master), וְאִתְּכֶם֙ (and with you⁺) הָרֶ֣כֶב (are the chariots) וְהַסּוּסִ֔ים (and the horses), וְעִ֥יר (and a city) מִבְצָ֖ר (fortified), וְהַנָּֽשֶׁק׃ (and weapons)— 3  וּרְאִיתֶ֞ם (and choose) הַטּ֤וֹב (the best) וְהַיָּשָׁר֙ (and the most upright) מִבְּנֵ֣י (of the sons) אֲדֹנֵיכֶ֔ם (of your⁺ master), וְשַׂמְתֶּ֖ם (and set him) עַל־ (on) כִּסֵּ֣א (the throne) אָבִ֑יו (of his father), וְהִֽלָּחֲמ֖וּ (and fight) עַל־ (for) בֵּ֥ית (the house) אֲדֹנֵיכֶֽם׃ (of your⁺ master).

4  וַיִּֽרְאוּ֙ (And they were afraid) מְאֹ֣ד (exceedingly) מְאֹ֔ד (greatly) וַיֹּ֣אמְר֔וּ (and they said), הִנֵּה֙ (Behold), שְׁנֵ֣י (the two) הַמְּלָכִ֔ים (kings) לֹ֥א (not) עָמְד֖וּ (could stand up) לְפָנָ֑יו (to him), וְאֵ֖יךְ (and how) נַעֲמֹ֥ד (can we stand) אֲנָֽחְנוּ׃ (ourselves)?

5  וַיִּשְׁלַ֣ח (And sent) אֲשֶׁר־ (he who was) עַל־ (over) הַבַּ֣יִת (the house), וַאֲשֶׁ֪ר (and he who was) עַל־ (in charge) הָעִ֟יר (of the city), וְהַזְּקֵנִים֩ (and the elders) וְהָאֹמְנִ֨ים (and the supporters) אֶל־ (to) יֵה֤וּא׀ (Jehu), לֵאמֹר֙ (saying), עֲבָדֶ֣יךָ (Your servants) אֲנַ֔חְנוּ (we are), וְכֹ֛ל (and all) אֲשֶׁר־ (that) תֹּאמַ֥ר (you tell) אֵלֵ֖ינוּ (to us), נַעֲשֶׂ֑ה (we will do). לֹֽא־ (But not) נַמְלִ֣יךְ (we will make king) אִ֔ישׁ (any man). הַטּ֥וֹב (That which is good) בְּעֵינֶ֖יךָ (in your eyes), עֲשֵֽׂה׃ (do).

6  וַיִּכְתֹּ֣ב (And he wrote) אֲלֵיהֶם֩ (to them) סֵ֨פֶר׀ (a letter) שֵׁנִ֜ית (second), לֵאמֹ֗ר (saying), אִם־ (If) לִ֨י (for me) אַתֶּ֜ם (you⁺ are), וּלְקֹלִ֣י׀ (and my voice) אַתֶּ֣ם (you⁺) שֹׁמְעִ֗ים (will obey), קְחוּ֙ (take) אֶת־ (-) רָאשֵׁי֙ (the heads) אַנְשֵׁ֣י (of the men), בְנֵֽי־ (sons) אֲדֹנֵיכֶ֔ם (of your⁺ master), וּבֹ֧אוּ (and come) אֵלַ֛י (to me) כָּעֵ֥ת (by this time) מָחָ֖ר (tomorrow) יִזְרְעֶ֑אלָה (at Jezreel).

וּבְנֵ֤י (And sons) הַמֶּ֙לֶךְ֙ (of the king), שִׁבְעִ֣ים (seventy) אִ֔ישׁ (men), אֶת־ (were with) גְּדֹלֵ֥י (with the great ones) הָעִ֖יר (of the city), מְגַדְּלִ֥ים (those bringing up) אוֹתָֽם׃ (them). 7  וַיְהִ֗י (And it came to pass), כְּבֹ֤א (when came) הַסֵּ֙פֶר֙ (the letter) אֲלֵיהֶ֔ם (to them), וַיִּקְחוּ֙ (that they took) אֶת־ (-) בְּנֵ֣י (the sons) הַמֶּ֔לֶךְ (of the king) וַֽיִּשְׁחֲט֖וּ (and slaughtered) שִׁבְעִ֣ים (seventy) אִ֑ישׁ (men), וַיָּשִׂ֤ימוּ (and they put) אֶת־ (-) רָֽאשֵׁיהֶם֙ (their heads) בַּדּוּדִ֔ים (in the baskets), וַיִּשְׁלְח֥וּ (and sent them) אֵלָ֖יו (to him) יִזְרְעֶֽאלָה׃ (at Jezreel).

8  וַיָּבֹ֤א (And came) הַמַּלְאָךְ֙ (a messenger) וַיַּגֶּד־ (and declared) ל֣וֹ (to him), לֵאמֹ֔ר (saying), הֵבִ֖יאוּ (They have brought) רָאשֵׁ֣י (the heads) בְנֵֽי־ (of the sons) הַמֶּ֑לֶךְ (of the king).

וַיֹּ֗אמֶר (And he said), שִׂ֣ימוּ (Place) אֹתָ֞ם (them) שְׁנֵ֧י (two) צִבֻּרִ֛ים (in heaps) פֶּ֥תַח (at the entrance) הַשַּׁ֖עַר (of the gate) עַד־ (until) הַבֹּֽקֶר׃ (the morning).

9  וַיְהִ֤י (And it came to pass) בַבֹּ֙קֶר֙ (in the morning) וַיֵּצֵ֣א (that he went out) וַֽיַּעֲמֹ֔ד (and stood) וַיֹּ֙אמֶר֙ (and said) אֶל־ (to) כָּל־ (all) הָעָ֔ם (the people), צַדִּקִ֖ים (Righteous) אַתֶּ֑ם (you⁺ are). הִנֵּ֨ה (Behold), אֲנִ֜י (I) קָשַׁ֤רְתִּי (conspired) עַל־ (against) אֲדֹנִי֙ (my master) וָאֶהְרְגֵ֔הוּ (and killed him), וּמִ֥י (and who) הִכָּ֖ה (killed) אֶת־ (-) כָּל־ (all) אֵֽלֶּה׃ (these)? 10  דְּע֣וּ (Know) אֵפ֗וֹא (now) כִּי֩ (that) לֹ֨א (nothing) יִפֹּ֜ל (shall fall) מִדְּבַ֤ר (of the word) יְהוָה֙ (of YHWH) אַ֔רְצָה (to the earth) אֲשֶׁר־ (that) דִּבֶּ֥ר (spoke) יְהוָ֖ה (YHWH) עַל־ (concerning) בֵּ֣ית (the house) אַחְאָ֑ב (of Ahab), וַיהוָ֣ה (and for YHWH) עָשָׂ֔ה (has done) אֵ֚ת (-) אֲשֶׁ֣ר (what) דִּבֶּ֔ר (He spoke) בְּיַ֖ד (by the hand) עַבְדּ֥וֹ (of His servant) אֵלִיָּֽהוּ׃ (Elijah).

11  וַיַּ֣ךְ (And killed) יֵה֗וּא (Jehu) אֵ֣ת (-) כָּל־ (all) הַנִּשְׁאָרִ֤ים (who remained) לְבֵית־ (of the house) אַחְאָב֙ (of Ahab) בְּיִזְרְעֶ֔אל (in Jezreel), וְכָל־ (and all) גְּדֹלָ֖יו (his great men), וּמְיֻדָּעָ֣יו (and his acquaintances), וְכֹהֲנָ֑יו (and his priests), עַד־ (until) בִּלְתִּ֥י (none) הִשְׁאִֽיר־ (he left) ל֖וֹ (to him) שָׂרִֽיד׃ (remaining).

12  וַיָּ֙קָם֙ (And he arose) וַיָּבֹ֔א (and departed) וַיֵּ֖לֶךְ (and went) שֹׁמְר֑וֹן (to Samaria). ה֛וּא (He was) בֵּֽית־ (at Beth-) עֵ֥קֶד (eked) הָרֹעִ֖ים (of the Shepherds) בַּדָּֽרֶךְ׃ (on the way), 13  וְיֵה֗וּא (and Jehu) מָצָא֙ (met) אֶת־ (-) אֲחֵי֙ (the brothers) אֲחַזְיָ֣הוּ (of Ahaziah) מֶֽלֶךְ־ (king) יְהוּדָ֔ה (of Judah) וַיֹּ֖אמֶר (and said), מִ֣י (Who are) אַתֶּ֑ם (you⁺)?

וַיֹּאמְר֗וּ (And they said), אֲחֵ֤י (Brothers) אֲחַזְיָ֙הוּ֙ (of Ahaziah) אֲנַ֔חְנוּ (we are), וַנֵּ֛רֶד (and we have come down) לִשְׁל֥וֹם (for the welfare) בְּנֵֽי־ (of the sons) הַמֶּ֖לֶךְ (of the king) וּבְנֵ֥י (and the sons) הַגְּבִירָֽה׃ (of the queen mother).

14  וַיֹּ֙אמֶר֙ (And he said), תִּפְשׂ֣וּם (Take them) חַיִּ֔ים (alive). וַֽיִּתְפְּשׂ֖וּם (And they took them) חַיִּ֑ים (alive) וַֽיִּשְׁחָט֞וּם (and killed them) אֶל־ (at) בּ֣וֹר (the well) בֵּֽית־ (of Beth-) עֵ֗קֶד (eked)— אַרְבָּעִ֤ים (forty) וּשְׁנַ֙יִם֙ (and two) אִ֔ישׁ (men). וְלֹֽא־ (And not) הִשְׁאִ֥יר (he left) אִ֖ישׁ (a man) מֵהֶֽם׃ס (of them).

15  וַיֵּ֣לֶךְ (And he departed) מִשָּׁ֡ם (from there), וַיִּמְצָ֣א (and he met) אֶת־ (-) יְהוֹנָדָב֩ (Jehonadab) בֶּן־ (son) רֵכָ֨ב (of Rechab) לִקְרָאת֜וֹ (coming to meet him). וַֽיְבָרְכֵ֗הוּ (And he blessed him) וַיֹּ֨אמֶר (and said) אֵלָ֜יו (to him), הֲיֵ֧שׁ (Is) אֶת־ (-) לְבָבְךָ֣ (your heart) יָשָׁ֗ר (straight) כַּאֲשֶׁ֤ר (as) לְבָבִי֙ (my heart is) עִם־ (toward) לְבָבֶ֔ךָ (your heart)?

וַיֹּ֨אמֶר (And answered), יְהוֹנָדָ֥ב (Jehonadab) יֵ֛שׁ (It is).

וָיֵ֖שׁ (And he said), תְּנָ֣ה (Give me) אֶת־ (-) יָדֶ֑ךָ (your hand).

וַיִּתֵּ֣ן (And he gave him) יָד֔וֹ (his hand), וַיַּעֲלֵ֥הוּ (and he took him up) אֵלָ֖יו (to him) אֶל־ (into) הַמֶּרְכָּבָֽה׃ (the chariot). 16  וַיֹּ֙אמֶר֙ (And he said), לְכָ֣ה (Come) אִתִּ֔י (with me) וּרְאֵ֖ה (and see) בְּקִנְאָתִ֣י (my zeal) לַיהוָ֑ה (for YHWH). וַיַּרְכִּ֥בוּ (And they had ride) אֹת֖וֹ (him) בְּרִכְבּֽוֹ׃ (in his chariot).

17  וַיָּבֹא֙ (And he came) שֹֽׁמְר֔וֹן (to Samaria), וַ֠יַּךְ (and he killed) אֶת־ (-) כָּל־ (all) הַנִּשְׁאָרִ֧ים (who remained) לְאַחְאָ֛ב (to Ahab) בְּשֹׁמְר֖וֹן (in Samaria) עַד־ (until) הִשְׁמִיד֑וֹ (he had destroyed them), כִּדְבַ֣ר (according to the word) יְהוָ֔ה (of YHWH) אֲשֶׁ֥ר (that) דִּבֶּ֖ר (He spoke) אֶל־ (to) אֵלִיָּֽהוּ׃פ (Elijah).

Jehu Kills the Priests of Baal

18  וַיִּקְבֹּ֤ץ (And gathered together) יֵהוּא֙ (Jehu) אֶת־ (-) כָּל־ (all) הָעָ֔ם (the people) וַיֹּ֣אמֶר (and said) אֲלֵהֶ֔ם (to them), אַחְאָ֕ב (Ahab) עָבַ֥ד (served) אֶת־ (-) הַבַּ֖עַל (the Baal) מְעָ֑ט (a little); יֵה֖וּא (Jehu) יַעַבְדֶ֥נּוּ (will serve him) הַרְבֵּֽה׃ (much). 19  וְעַתָּ֣ה (And now) כָל־ (all) נְבִיאֵ֣י (the prophets) הַבַּ֡עַל (of the Baal), כָּל־ (all) עֹבְדָ֣יו (his servants), וְכָל־ (and all) כֹּהֲנָיו֩ (his priests) קִרְא֨וּ (call) אֵלַ֜י (to me). אִ֣ישׁ (A man) אַל־ (not) יִפָּקֵ֗ד (let be missing), כִּי֩ (for) זֶ֨בַח (a sacrifice) גָּד֥וֹל (great) לִי֙ (I have) לַבַּ֔עַל (for the Baal). כֹּ֥ל (Anyone) אֲשֶׁר־ (who) יִפָּקֵ֖ד (is missing) לֹ֣א (not) יִֽחְיֶ֑ה (shall live).

וְיֵהוּא֙ (And Jehu) עָשָׂ֣ה (acted) בְעָקְבָּ֔ה (deceptively), לְמַ֥עַן (with the intent) הַאֲבִ֖יד (of destroying) אֶת־ (-) עֹבְדֵ֥י (the worshipers) הַבָּֽעַל׃ (of Baal).

20  וַיֹּ֣אמֶר (And said) יֵה֗וּא (Jehu), קַדְּשׁ֧וּ (Proclaim) עֲצָרָ֛ה (a solemn assembly) לַבַּ֖עַל (for the Baal). וַיִּקְרָֽאוּ׃ (And they proclaimed it).

21  וַיִּשְׁלַ֤ח (And sent) יֵהוּא֙ (Jehu) בְּכָל־ (throughout all) יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל (Israel), וַיָּבֹ֙אוּ֙ (and came) כָּל־ (all) עֹבְדֵ֣י (the worshipers) הַבַּ֔עַל (of the Baal), וְלֹֽא־ (and not) נִשְׁאַ֥ר (was left) אִ֖ישׁ (a man) אֲשֶׁ֣ר (who) לֹֽא־ (not) בָ֑א (came in). וַיָּבֹ֙אוּ֙ (And they came in) בֵּ֣ית (to the house) הַבַּ֔עַל (of the Baal), וַיִּמָּלֵ֥א (and was full) בֵית־ (the house) הַבַּ֖עַל (of the Baal) פֶּ֥ה (mouth) לָפֶֽה׃ (to mouth).

22  וַיֹּ֗אמֶר (And he said) לַֽאֲשֶׁר֙ (to the one) עַל־ (in charge) הַמֶּלְתָּחָ֔ה (of the wardrobe), הוֹצֵ֣א (Bring out) לְב֔וּשׁ (garments) לְכֹ֖ל (for all) עֹבְדֵ֣י (the worshipers) הַבָּ֑עַל (of the Baal). וַיֹּצֵ֥א (And he brought out) לָהֶ֖ם (for them) הַמַּלְבּֽוּשׁ׃ (the clothing).

23  וַיָּבֹ֥א (And went) יֵה֛וּא (Jehu) וִיהוֹנָדָ֥ב (and Jonadab) בֶּן־ (son) רֵכָ֖ב (of Rechab) בֵּ֣ית (into the house) הַבָּ֑עַל (of the Baal), וַיֹּ֜אמֶר (and they said) לְעֹבְדֵ֣י (to the worshipers) הַבַּ֗עַל (of the Baal), חַפְּשׂ֤וּ (Search) וּרְאוּ֙ (and see) פֶּן־ (that) יֶשׁ־ (are) פֹּ֤ה (here) עִמָּכֶם֙ (with you⁺) מֵעַבְדֵ֣י (no servants) יְהוָ֔ה (of YHWH), כִּ֛י (for) אִם־ (but) עֹבְדֵ֥י (the worshipers) הַבַּ֖עַל (of the Baal) לְבַדָּֽם׃ (only).

24  וַיָּבֹ֕אוּ (And they went in) לַעֲשׂ֖וֹת (to offer) זְבָחִ֣ים (sacrifices) וְעֹל֑וֹת (and burnt offerings). וְיֵה֞וּא (And Jehu) שָׂם־ (had appointed) ל֤וֹ (for himself) בַחוּץ֙ (on the outside) שְׁמֹנִ֣ים (eighty) אִ֔ישׁ (men) וַיֹּ֗אמֶר (and said), הָאִ֤ישׁ (The man) אֲשֶׁר־ (who) יִמָּלֵט֙ (lets one escape) מִן־ (from) הָאֲנָשִׁ֗ים (the men) אֲשֶׁ֤ר (whom) אֲנִי֙ (I) מֵבִ֣יא (have brought) עַל־ (into) יְדֵיכֶ֔ם (your⁺ hands), נַפְשׁ֖וֹ (his soul) תַּ֥חַת (for) נַפְשֽׁוֹ׃ (his soul).

25  וַיְהִ֞י (And it came to pass), כְּכַלֹּת֣וֹ׀ (at his finishing) לַעֲשׂ֣וֹת (to make) הָעֹלָ֗ה (the burnt offering), וַיֹּ֣אמֶר (that said) יֵ֠הוּא (Jehu) לָרָצִ֨ים (to the guard) וְלַשָּׁלִשִׁ֜ים (and to the captains), בֹּ֤אוּ (Go in), הַכּוּם֙ (strike them). אִ֣ישׁ (A man) אַל־ (not) יֵצֵ֔א (let come out).

וַיַּכּ֖וּם (And they struck them) לְפִי־ (with the mouth) חָ֑רֶב (of the sword) וַיַּשְׁלִ֗כוּ (and cast them out). הָֽרָצִים֙ (The guards) וְהַשָּׁ֣לִשִׁ֔ים (and the officers) וַיֵּלְכ֖וּ (and went) עַד־ (into) עִ֥יר (the inner room) בֵּית־ (of the house) הַבָּֽעַל׃ (of the Baal).

26  וַיֹּצִ֛אוּ (And they brought out) אֶת־ (-) מַצְּב֥וֹת (the pillars) בֵּית־ (of the house) הַבַּ֖עַל (of the Baal) וַֽיִּשְׂרְפֽוּהָ׃ (and burned them). 27  וַֽיִּתְּצ֔וּ (And they broke down) אֵ֖ת (-) מַצְּבַ֣ת (the pillar) הַבָּ֑עַל (of the Baal) וַֽיִּתְּצוּ֙ (and broke down) אֶת־ (-) בֵּ֣ית (the house) הַבַּ֔עַל (of the Baal), וַיְשִׂמֻ֥הוּ (and made it) לְמַחֲרָאוֹת (a latrine) עַד־ (to) הַיּֽוֹם׃ (this day).

Jehu Repeats Jeroboam’s Sins

28  וַיַּשְׁמֵ֥ד (And destroyed) יֵה֛וּא (Jehu) אֶת־ (-) הַבַּ֖עַל (the Baal) מִיִּשְׂרָאֵֽל׃ (from Israel). 29  רַ֠ק (However) חֲטָאֵ֞י (the sins) יָרָבְעָ֤ם (of Jeroboam) בֶּן־ (son) נְבָט֙ (of Nebat), אֲשֶׁ֣ר (who) הֶחֱטִ֣יא (had caused to sin) אֶת־ (-) יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל (Israel), לֹֽא־ (not) סָ֥ר (did turn away) יֵה֖וּא (Jehu) מֵאַֽחֲרֵיהֶ֑ם (from after them)— עֶגְלֵי֙ (from calves) הַזָּהָ֔ב (the golden) אֲשֶׁ֥ר (that were) בֵּֽית־ (at Beth-) אֵ֖ל (el) וַאֲשֶׁ֥ר (and) בְּדָֽן׃ס (Dan).

30  וַיֹּ֨אמֶר (And said) יְהוָ֜ה (YHWH) אֶל־ (to) יֵה֗וּא (Jehu), יַ֤עַן (Because) אֲשֶׁר־ (that) הֱטִיבֹ֙תָ֙ (you have done well) לַעֲשׂ֤וֹת (in doing) הַיָּשָׁר֙ (right) בְּעֵינַ֔י (in My eyes)— כְּכֹל֙ (according to all) אֲשֶׁ֣ר (that) בִּלְבָבִ֔י (is in My heart) עָשִׂ֖יתָ (you have done) לְבֵ֣ית (to the house) אַחְאָ֑ב (of Ahab)— בְּנֵ֣י (sons) רְבִעִ֔ים (of the fourth) יֵשְׁב֥וּ (shall sit) לְךָ֖ (unto you) עַל־ (on) כִּסֵּ֥א (the throne) יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃ (of Israel).

31  וְיֵה֗וּא (And Jehu) לֹ֥א (not) שָׁמַ֛ר (took heed) לָלֶ֛כֶת (to walk) בְּתֽוֹרַת־ (in the law) יְהוָ֥ה (of YHWH) אֱלֹהֵֽי־ (God) יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל (of Israel) בְּכָל־ (with all) לְבָב֑וֹ (his heart). לֹ֣א (Not) סָ֗ר (for he did depart) מֵעַל֙ (from) חַטֹּ֣אות (the sins) יָֽרָבְעָ֔ם (of Jeroboam), אֲשֶׁ֥ר (who) הֶחֱטִ֖יא (had caused to sin) אֶת־ (-) יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃ (Israel).

32  בַּיָּמִ֣ים (In the days) הָהֵ֔ם (those) הֵחֵ֣ל (began) יְהוָ֔ה (YHWH) לְקַצּ֖וֹת (to cut off) בְּיִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל (some of Israel), וַיַּכֵּ֥ם (and conquered them) חֲזָאֵ֖ל (Hazael) בְּכָל־ (in all) גְּב֥וּל (the territory) יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃ (of Israel), 33  מִן־ (from) הַיַּרְדֵּן֙ (the Jordan) מִזְרַ֣ח (to the rising) הַשֶּׁ֔מֶשׁ (of the son), אֵ֚ת (-) כָּל־ (all) אֶ֣רֶץ (the land) הַגִּלְעָ֔ד (of Gilead), הַגָּדִ֥י (the Gadite), וְהָרֻאובֵנִ֖י (and the Reubenite), וְהַֽמְנַשִּׁ֑י (and Manassite)), מֵעֲרֹעֵר֙ (from Aroer) אֲשֶׁ֣ר (which is) עַל־ (by) נַ֣חַל (the River) אַרְנֹ֔ן (Arnon), וְהַגִּלְעָ֖ד (and Gilead) וְהַבָּשָֽׁן׃ (and Bashan).

34  וְיֶ֨תֶר (And the rest) דִּבְרֵ֥י (of the acts) יֵה֛וּא (of Jehu), וְכָל־ (and all) אֲשֶׁ֥ר (that) עָשָׂ֖ה (he did), וְכָל־ (and all) גְּבוּרָת֑וֹ (his might), הֲלֽוֹא־ (are not) הֵ֣ם (they) כְּתוּבִ֗ים (written) עַל־ (in) סֵ֛פֶר (the Book) דִּבְרֵ֥י (of the Words) הַיָּמִ֖ים (of the Days) לְמַלְכֵ֥י (of the Kings) יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃ (of Israel)?

35  וַיִּשְׁכַּ֤ב (And rested) יֵהוּא֙ (Jehu) עִם־ (with) אֲבֹתָ֔יו (his fathers), וַיִּקְבְּר֥וּ (and they buried) אֹת֖וֹ (him) בְּשֹׁמְר֑וֹן (in Samaria). וַיִּמְלֹ֛ךְ (And reigned) יְהוֹאָחָ֥ז (Jehoahaz) בְּנ֖וֹ (his son) תַּחְתָּֽיו׃ (in his place). 36  וְהַיָּמִ֗ים (And the days) אֲשֶׁ֨ר (that) מָלַ֤ךְ (reigned) יֵהוּא֙ (Jehu) עַל־ (over) יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל (Israel) עֶשְׂרִ֥ים (were twenty) וּשְׁמֹנֶֽה־ (and eight) שָׁנָ֖ה (years) בְּשֹׁמְרֽוֹן׃פ (in Samaria).
