Jehu Anointed King of Israel

1  וֶאֱלִישָׁע֙ (And Elisha) הַנָּבִ֔יא (the prophet) קָרָ֕א (called) לְאַחַ֖ד (one) מִבְּנֵ֣י (of the sons) הַנְּבִיאִ֑ים (of the prophets) וַיֹּ֨אמֶר (and said) ל֜וֹ (to him), חֲגֹ֣ר (Gird up) מָתְנֶ֗יךָ (your loins) וְ֠קַח (and take) פַּ֣ךְ (the flack) הַשֶּׁ֤מֶן (of the oil) הַזֶּה֙ (this) בְּיָדֶ֔ךָ (in your hand), וְלֵ֖ךְ (and go) רָמֹ֥ת (to Ramoth-) גִּלְעָֽד׃ (gilead). 2  וּבָ֖אתָ (And you will come) שָׁ֑מָּה (to there) וּרְאֵֽה־ (and see) שָׁ֠ם (there) יֵה֨וּא (Jehu) בֶן־ (son) יְהוֹשָׁפָ֜ט (of Jehoshaphat) בֶּן־ (son) נִמְשִׁ֗י (of Nimshi), וּבָ֙אתָ֙ (and you will come in) וַהֲקֵֽמֹתוֹ֙ (and make him rise up) מִתּ֣וֹך (from the midst) אֶחָ֔יו (of his brothers). וְהֵבֵיאתָ֥ (And bring) אֹת֖וֹ (him) חֶ֥דֶר (to a chamber) בְּחָֽדֶר׃ (of a chamber). 3  וְלָקַחְתָּ֤ (And take) פַךְ־ (the flask) הַשֶּׁ֙מֶן֙ (of the oil), וְיָצַקְתָּ֣ (and pour it) עַל־ (on) רֹאשׁ֔וֹ (his head) וְאָֽמַרְתָּ֙ (and say), כֹּֽה־ (Thus) אָמַ֣ר (says) יְהוָ֔ה (YHWH): מְשַׁחְתִּ֥יךָֽ (I have anointed you) לְמֶ֖לֶךְ (king) אֶל־ (over) יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל (Israel). וּפָתַחְתָּ֥ (And open) הַדֶּ֛לֶת (the door) וְנַ֖סְתָּה (and flee), וְלֹ֥א (and not) תְחַכֶּֽה׃ (do delay).

4  וַיֵּ֧לֶךְ (And went) הַנַּ֛עַר (the young man), הַנַּ֥עַר (the servant) הַנָּבִ֖יא (of the prophet), רָמֹ֥ת (to Ramoth-) גִּלְעָֽד׃ (gilead). 5  וַיָּבֹ֗א (And he arrived), וְהִנֵּ֨ה (and behold), שָׂרֵ֤י (the captains) הַחַ֙יִל֙ (of the army) יֹֽשְׁבִ֔ים (were sitting), וַיֹּ֕אמֶר (and he said), דָּבָ֥ר (A word) לִ֛י (from me) אֵלֶ֖יךָ (is to you), הַשָּׂ֑ר (the commander).

וַיֹּ֤אמֶר (And said) יֵהוּא֙ (Jehu), אֶל־ (For) מִ֣י (that) מִכֻּלָּ֔נוּ (of all of us)?

וַיֹּ֖אמֶר (And he said), אֵלֶ֥יךָ (To you), הַשָּֽׂר׃ (the commander).

6  וַיָּ֙קָם֙ (And he arose) וַיָּבֹ֣א (and went into) הַבַּ֔יְתָה (the house), וַיִּצֹ֥ק (and he poured) הַשֶּׁ֖מֶן (the oil) אֶל־ (on) רֹאשׁ֑וֹ (his head) וַיֹּ֣אמֶר (and said) ל֗וֹ (to him), כֹּֽה־ (Thus) אָמַ֤ר (says) יְהוָה֙ (YHWH) אֱלֹהֵ֣י (God) יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל (of Israel): מְשַׁחְתִּ֧יךָֽ (I have anointed you) לְמֶ֛לֶךְ (as king) אֶל־ (over) עַ֥ם (the people) יְהוָ֖ה (of YHWH), אֶל־ (over) יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃ (Israel). 7  וְהִ֨כִּיתָ֔ה (And you shall strike) אֶת־ (-) בֵּ֥ית (the house) אַחְאָ֖ב (of Ahab) אֲדֹנֶ֑יךָ (your master), וְנִקַּמְתִּ֞י (that I may avenge) דְּמֵ֣י׀ (the blood) עֲבָדַ֣י (of My servants) הַנְּבִיאִ֗ים (the prophets) וּדְמֵ֛י (and the blood) כָּל־ (of all) עַבְדֵ֥י (the servants) יְהוָ֖ה (of YHWH) מִיַּ֥ד (from the hand) אִיזָֽבֶל׃ (of Jezebel). 8  וְאָבַ֖ד (And will perish) כָּל־ (all) בֵּ֣ית (the house) אַחְאָ֑ב (of Ahab), וְהִכְרַתִּ֤י (and I will cut off) לְאַחְאָב֙ (from Ahab) מַשְׁתִּ֣ין (the one who urinates) בְּקִ֔יר (against the wall), וְעָצ֥וּר (and the one who is restrained) וְעָז֖וּב (and the one who is free) בְּיִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃ (in Israel). 9  וְנָֽתַתִּי֙ (And I will make) אֶת־ (-) בֵּ֣ית (the house) אַחְאָ֔ב (of Ahab) כְּבֵ֖ית (like the house) יָרָבְעָ֣ם (of Jeroboam) בֶּן־ (son) נְבָ֑ט (of Nebat) וּכְבֵ֖ית (and like the house) בַּעְשָׁ֥א (of Baasha) בֶן־ (son) אֲחִיָּֽה׃ (of Ahijah). 10  וְאֶת־ (And) אִיזֶ֜בֶל (Jezebel) יֹאכְל֧וּ (shall eat) הַכְּלָבִ֛ים (the dogs) בְּחֵ֥לֶק (in the portion) יִזְרְעֶ֖אל (of Jezreel), וְאֵ֣ין (and there is none) קֹבֵ֑ר (to bury her).

וַיִּפְתַּ֥ח (And he opened) הַדֶּ֖לֶת (the door) וַיָּנֹֽס׃ (and fled).

11  וְיֵה֗וּא (And Jehu) יָצָא֙ (went out) אֶל־ (to) עַבְדֵ֣י (the servants) אֲדֹנָ֔יו (of his master), וַיֹּ֤אמֶר (and one said) לוֹ֙ (to him), הֲשָׁל֔וֹם (Peace)? מַדּ֛וּעַ (Why) בָּֽא־ (did come) הַמְשֻׁגָּ֥ע (the madman) הַזֶּ֖ה (this) אֵלֶ֑יךָ (to you)?

וַיֹּ֣אמֶר (And he said) אֲלֵיהֶ֔ם (to them), אַתֶּ֛ם (You⁺) יְדַעְתֶּ֥ם (know) אֶת־ (-) הָאִ֖ישׁ (the man) וְאֶת־ (and) שִׂיחֽוֹ׃ (his babble).

12  וַיֹּאמְר֣וּ (And they said), שֶׁ֔קֶר (False)! הַגֶּד־ (Declare) נָ֖א (now) לָ֑נוּ (to us).

וַיֹּ֗אמֶר (And he said), כָּזֹ֤את (Like this) וְכָזֹאת֙ (and like this) אָמַ֤ר (he spoke) אֵלַי֙ (to me), לֵאמֹ֔ר (saying), כֹּ֚ה (Thus) אָמַ֣ר (says) יְהוָ֔ה (YHWH): מְשַׁחְתִּ֥יךָֽ (I have anointed you) לְמֶ֖לֶךְ (as king) אֶל־ (over) יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃ (Israel).

13  וַֽיְמַהֲר֗וּ (And they hurried), וַיִּקְחוּ֙ (and took) אִ֣ישׁ (each man) בִּגְד֔וֹ (his garment) וַיָּשִׂ֥ימוּ (and put it) תַחְתָּ֖יו (under him) אֶל־ (on) גֶּ֣רֶם (the top) הַֽמַּעֲל֑וֹת (of the steps), וַֽיִּתְקְעוּ֙ (and they blew) בַּשּׁוֹפָ֔ר (with the shofar) וַיֹּאמְר֖וּ (and said), מָלַ֥ךְ (Is king) יֵהֽוּא׃ (Jehu).

Jehu Kills Joram and Ahaziah
(2 Chronicles 22:8–9)

14  וַיִּתְקַשֵּׁ֗ר (And conspired) יֵה֛וּא (Jehu) בֶּן־ (son) יְהוֹשָׁפָ֥ט (of Jehoshaphat) בֶּן־ (son) נִמְשִׁ֖י (of Nimshi) אֶל־ (against) יוֹרָ֑ם (Jehoram).

וְיוֹרָם֩ (And Jehoram) הָיָ֨ה (had) שֹׁמֵ֜ר (been defending) בְּרָמֹ֣ת (Ramoth-) גִּלְעָ֗ד (gilead), ה֚וּא (he) וְכָל־ (and all) יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל (Israel), מִפְּנֵ֥י (from the presence) חֲזָאֵ֖ל (of Hazael) מֶֽלֶךְ־ (king) אֲרָֽם׃ (of Aram). 15  וַיָּשָׁב֩ (And had returned) יְהוֹרָ֨ם (Jehoram) הַמֶּ֜לֶךְ (the king) לְהִתְרַפֵּ֣א (to recover) בִיְזְרְעֶ֗אל (in Jezreel) מִן־ (from) הַמַּכִּים֙ (the wounds) אֲשֶׁ֣ר (that) יַכֻּ֣הוּ (had inflicted on him) אֲרַמִּ֔ים (the Aramaeans) בְּהִלָּ֣חֲמ֔וֹ (when he fought) אֶת־ (with) חֲזָאֵ֖ל (Hazael) מֶ֣לֶךְ (king) אֲרָ֑ם (of Aram).

וַיֹּ֤אמֶר (And said) יֵהוּא֙ (Jehu), אִם־ (If) יֵ֣שׁ (it is) נַפְשְׁכֶ֔ם (your⁺ mind), אַל־ (not) יֵצֵ֤א (let go out) פָלִיט֙ (a fugitive) מִן־ (from) הָעִ֔יר (the city) לָלֶ֖כֶת (to go) לַגִּיד (and tell it) בְּיִזְרְעֶֽאל׃ (in Jezreel).

16  וַיִּרְכַּ֤ב (And rode in a chariot) יֵהוּא֙ (Jehu) וַיֵּ֣לֶךְ (and went) יִזְרְעֶ֔אלָה (to Jezreel), כִּ֥י (because) יוֹרָ֖ם (Jehoram) שֹׁכֵ֣ב (was laid up) שָׁ֑מָּה (there). וַֽאֲחַזְיָה֙ (And Ahaziah) מֶ֣לֶךְ (king) יְהוּדָ֔ה (of Judah) יָרַ֖ד (had come down) לִרְא֥וֹת (to see) אֶת־ (-) יוֹרָֽם׃ (Jehoram).

17  וְהַצֹּפֶה֩ (And the watchman) עֹמֵ֨ד (stood) עַֽל־ (on) הַמִּגְדָּ֜ל (the tower) בְּיִזְרְעֶ֗אל (in Jezreel), וַיַּ֞רְא (and he saw) אֶת־ (-) שִׁפְעַ֤ת (the company) יֵהוּא֙ (of Jehu) בְּבֹא֔וֹ (in his coming), וַיֹּ֕אמֶר (and said), שִׁפְעַ֖ת (A company) אֲנִ֣י (I) רֹאֶ֑ה (see).

וַיֹּ֣אמֶר (And said) יְהוֹרָ֗ם (Jehoram), קַ֥ח (Take) רַכָּ֛ב (a rider) וּֽשְׁלַ֥ח (and send him) לִקְרָאתָ֖ם (to meet them), וְיֹאמַ֥ר (and let him say), הֲשָׁלֽוֹם׃ (Is it peace)?

18  וַיֵּלֶךְ֩ (And went) רֹכֵ֨ב (and the rider) הַסּ֜וּס (on the horse) לִקְרָאת֗וֹ (to meet him) וַיֹּ֙אמֶר֙ (and said), כֹּֽה־ (Thus) אָמַ֤ר (says) הַמֶּ֙לֶךְ֙ (the king), הֲשָׁל֔וֹם (Is it peace)?

וַיֹּ֧אמֶר (And said) יֵה֛וּא (Jehu), מַה־ (What) לְּךָ֥ (is for you) וּלְשָׁל֖וֹם (and regarding peace)? סֹ֣ב (Turn around) אֶֽל־ (to) אַחֲרָ֑י (after me).

וַיַּגֵּ֤ד (And declared) הַצֹּפֶה֙ (the watchman), לֵאמֹ֔ר (saying), בָּֽא־ (Went) הַמַּלְאָ֥ךְ (the messenger) עַד־ (to) הֵ֖ם (them), וְלֹֽא־ (not) שָֽׁב׃ (he is coming back).

19  וַיִּשְׁלַ֗ח (And he sent out) רֹכֵ֣ב (a rider) סוּס֮ (on a horse) שֵׁנִי֒ (second), וַיָּבֹ֣א (and he went in) אֲלֵהֶ֔ם (to them) וַיֹּ֛אמֶר (and said), כֹּֽה־ (Thus) אָמַ֥ר (says) הַמֶּ֖לֶךְ (the king), שָׁל֑וֹם (Is peace)?

וַיֹּ֧אמֶר (And answered) יֵה֛וּא (Jehu), מַה־ (What) לְּךָ֥ (to you) וּלְשָׁל֖וֹם (and with peace)? סֹ֥ב (Turn around) אֶֽל־ (to) אַחֲרָֽי׃ (behind me).

20  וַיַּגֵּ֤ד (And declared) הַצֹּפֶה֙ (the watchman), לֵאמֹ֔ר (saying), בָּ֥א (He went up) עַד־ (even) אֲלֵיהֶ֖ם (to them) וְלֹֽא־ (and not) שָׁ֑ב (is coming back). וְהַמִּנְהָ֗ג (And the driving is) כְּמִנְהַג֙ (like the driving) יֵה֣וּא (of Jehu) בֶן־ (son) נִמְשִׁ֔י (of Nimshi), כִּ֥י (for) בְשִׁגָּע֖וֹן (with madness) יִנְהָֽג׃ (he drives)!

21  וַיֹּ֤אמֶר (And said) יְהוֹרָם֙ (Jehoram), אֱסֹ֔ר (Harness)! וַיֶּאְסֹ֖ר (And was harnessed) רִכְבּ֑וֹ (his chariot).

וַיֵּצֵ֣א (And went out) יְהוֹרָ֣ם (Jehoram) מֶֽלֶךְ־ (king) יִ֠שְׂרָאֵל (of Israel) וַאֲחַזְיָ֨הוּ (and Ahaziah) מֶֽלֶךְ־ (king) יְהוּדָ֜ה (of Judah), אִ֣ישׁ (each man) בְּרִכְבּ֗וֹ (in his chariot), וַיֵּֽצְאוּ֙ (and they went out) לִקְרַ֣את (to meet) יֵה֔וּא (Jehu) וַיִּמְצָאֻ֔הוּ (and they found him) בְּחֶלְקַ֖ת (in the portion) נָב֥וֹת (of Naboth) הַיִּזְרְעֵאלִֽי׃ (the Jezreelite).

22  וַיְהִ֗י (And it came to pass), כִּרְא֤וֹת (when saw) יְהוֹרָם֙ (Jehoram) אֶת־ (-) יֵה֔וּא (Jehu), וַיֹּ֖אמֶר (that he said), הֲשָׁל֣וֹם (Is it peace), יֵה֑וּא (Jehu)?

וַיֹּ֙אמֶר֙ (And he said), מָ֣ה (What) הַשָּׁל֔וֹם (peace is), עַד־ (during) זְנוּנֵ֞י (the prostitution) אִיזֶ֧בֶל (of Jezebel) אִמְּךָ֛ (your mother) וּכְשָׁפֶ֖יהָ (and her witchcrafts) הָרַבִּֽים׃ (many)?

23  וַיַּהֲפֹ֧ךְ (And turned) יְהוֹרָ֛ם (Jehoram) יָדָ֖יו (his hands) וַיָּנֹ֑ס (and fled), וַיֹּ֥אמֶר (and he said) אֶל־ (to) אֲחַזְיָ֖הוּ (Ahaziah), מִרְמָ֥ה (Treachery), אֲחַזְיָֽה׃ (Ahaziah).

24  וְיֵה֞וּא (And Jehu) מִלֵּ֧א (filled) יָד֣וֹ (his hand) בַקֶּ֗שֶׁת (with a bow) וַיַּ֤ךְ (and struck) אֶת־ (-) יְהוֹרָם֙ (Jehoram) בֵּ֣ין (between) זְרֹעָ֔יו (his arms), וַיֵּצֵ֥א (and came out) הַחֵ֖צִי (the arrow) מִלִּבּ֑וֹ (from his heart), וַיִּכְרַ֖ע (and he sank down) בְּרִכְבּֽוֹ׃ (in his chariot).

25  וַיֹּ֗אמֶר (And he said) אֶל־ (to) בִּדְקַר֙ (Bidkar) שְׁלֹשָׁה (his captain), שָׂ֚א (Lift up), הַשְׁלִכֵ֔הוּ (and throw him) בְּחֶלְקַ֕ת (into the portion) שְׂדֵ֖ה (of the field) נָב֣וֹת (of Naboth) הַיִּזְרְעֵאלִ֑י (the Jezreelite), כִּֽי־ (for) זְכֹ֞ר (remember that) אֲנִ֣י (I) וָאַ֗תָּה (and you) אֵ֣ת (-) רֹכְבִ֤ים (were riding) צְמָדִים֙ (together) אַֽחֲרֵי֙ (behind) אַחְאָ֣ב (Ahab) אָבִ֔יו (his father), וַֽיהוָה֙ (and YHWH) נָשָׂ֣א (lifted up) עָלָ֔יו (upon him) אֶת־ (-) הַמַּשָּׂ֖א (the burden) הַזֶּֽה׃ (this). 26  אִם־ (If) לֹ֡א (not) אֶת־ (-) דְּמֵ֣י (the blood) נָבוֹת֩ (of Naboth) וְאֶת־ (and) דְּמֵ֨י (the blood) בָנָ֜יו (of his sons) רָאִ֤יתִי (I saw) אֶ֙מֶשׁ֙ (yesterday), נְאֻם־ (declares) יְהוָ֔ה (YHWH), וְשִׁלַּמְתִּ֥י (and I will repay) לְךָ֛ (to you) בַּחֶלְקָ֥ה (in the portion) הַזֹּ֖את (this), נְאֻם־ (declares) יְהוָ֑ה (YHWH). וְעַתָּ֗ה (And now) שָׂ֧א (take) הַשְׁלִכֵ֛הוּ (and throw him) בַּחֶלְקָ֖ה (into the portion), כִּדְבַ֥ר (according to the word) יְהוָֽה׃ (of YHWH).

27  וַאֲחַזְיָ֤ה (And Ahaziah) מֶֽלֶךְ־ (king) יְהוּדָה֙ (of Judah) רָאָ֔ה (saw) וַיָּ֕נָס (and he fled) דֶּ֖רֶךְ (up the road) בֵּ֣ית (toward Beth-) הַגָּ֑ן (haggan)

וַיִּרְדֹּ֨ף (and pursued) אַחֲרָ֜יו (him) יֵה֗וּא (Jehu) וַ֠יֹּאמֶר (and said), גַּם־ (Also) אֹת֞וֹ (him) הַכֻּ֣הוּ (shoot)

אֶל־ (in) הַמֶּרְכָּבָ֗ה (the chariot) בְּמַֽעֲלֵה־ (on the Ascent) גוּר֙ (of Gur), אֲשֶׁ֣ר (which is) אֶֽת־ (-) יִבְלְעָ֔ם (by Ibleam). וַיָּ֥נָס (And he fled) מְגִדּ֖וֹ (to Megiddo) וַיָּ֥מָת (and died) שָֽׁם׃ (there). 28  וַיַּרְכִּ֧בוּ (And carried in the chariot) אֹת֛וֹ (him) עֲבָדָ֖יו (his servants) יְרוּשָׁלְָ֑מָה (to Jerusalem), וַיִּקְבְּר֨וּ (and they buried) אֹת֧וֹ (him) בִקְבֻרָת֛וֹ (in his tomb) עִם־ (with) אֲבֹתָ֖יו (his fathers) בְּעִ֥יר (in the City) דָּוִֽד׃פ (of David).

29  וּבִשְׁנַת֙ (And in) אַחַ֣ת (the one) עֶשְׂרֵ֣ה (and tenth) שָׁנָ֔ה (year) לְיוֹרָ֖ם (of Jehoram) בֶּן־ (son) אַחְאָ֑ב (of Ahab) מָלַ֥ךְ (had become king) אֲחַזְיָ֖ה (Ahaziah) עַל־ (over) יְהוּדָֽה׃ (Judah).

Jezebel’s Violent Death

30  וַיָּב֥וֹא (And had come) יֵה֖וּא (Jehu) יִזְרְעֶ֑אלָה (to Jezreel), וְאִיזֶ֣בֶל (and Jezebel) שָׁמְעָ֗ה (heard) וַתָּ֨שֶׂם (and put) בַּפּ֤וּךְ (in paint) עֵינֶ֙יהָ֙ (her eyes), וַתֵּ֣יטֶב (and adorned) אֶת־ (-) רֹאשָׁ֔הּ (her head), וַתַּשְׁקֵ֖ף (and she looked down) בְּעַ֥ד (through) הַחַלּֽוֹן׃ (the window). 31  וְיֵה֖וּא (And Jehu) בָּ֣א (entered) בַשָּׁ֑עַר (into the gate), וַתֹּ֣אמֶר (and she said), הֲשָׁל֔וֹם (Is it peace), זִמְרִ֖י (O Zimri), הֹרֵ֥ג (manslayer) אֲדֹנָֽיו׃ (of his master)?

32  וַיִּשָּׂ֤א (And he lifted up) פָנָיו֙ (his face) אֶל־ (to) הַ֣חַלּ֔וֹן (the window) וַיֹּ֕אמֶר (and said), מִ֥י (Who is) אִתִּ֖י (is with me)? מִ֑י (Who)?

וַיַּשְׁקִ֣יפוּ (And looked out) אֵלָ֔יו (at him) שְׁנַ֥יִם (two) שְׁלֹשָׁ֖ה (or three) סָרִיסִֽים׃ (eunuchs).

33  וַיֹּ֥אמֶר (And he said), שִׁמְטֻהוּ (Drop her)!

וַֽיִּשְׁמְט֑וּהָ (And they dropped her), וַיִּ֨ז (and splattered) מִדָּמָ֧הּ (her blood) אֶל־ (on) הַקִּ֛יר (the wall) וְאֶל־ (and on) הַסּוּסִ֖ים (the horses), וַֽיִּרְמְסֶֽנָּה׃ (and he trampled her underfoot).

34  וַיָּבֹ֖א (And he came in) וַיֹּ֣אכַל (and ate) וַיֵּ֑שְׁתְּ (and drank) וַיֹּ֗אמֶר (and said), פִּקְדוּ־ (Look after) נָ֞א (now) אֶת־ (-) הָאֲרוּרָ֤ה (the accursed woman) הַזֹּאת֙ (this) וְקִבְר֔וּהָ (and bury her), כִּ֥י (for) בַת־ (a daughter) מֶ֖לֶךְ (of a king) הִֽיא׃ (she was).

35  וַיֵּלְכ֖וּ (And they went) לְקָבְרָ֑הּ (to bury her), וְלֹא־ (and no more) מָ֣צְאוּ (they found) בָ֗הּ (of her) כִּ֧י (but) אִם־ (if) הַגֻּלְגֹּ֛לֶת (the skull) וְהָרַגְלַ֖יִם (and the feet) וְכַפּ֥וֹת (and the palms) הַיָּדָֽיִם׃ (of the hands).

36  וַיָּשֻׁבוּ֮ (And they turned back) וַיַּגִּ֣ידוּ (and reported) לוֹ֒ (to him), וַיֹּ֙אמֶר֙ (and he said), דְּבַר־ (The word) יְהוָ֣ה (of YHWH) ה֔וּא (it is), אֲשֶׁ֣ר (which) דִּבֶּ֗ר (He spoke) בְּיַד־ (by) עַבְדּ֛וֹ (His servant) אֵלִיָּ֥הוּ (Elijah) הַתִּשְׁבִּ֖י (the Tishbite), לֵאמֹ֑ר (saying), בְּחֵ֣לֶק (In the portion) יִזְרְעֶ֔אל (of Jezreel) יֹאכְל֥וּ (shall eat) הַכְּלָבִ֖ים (the dogs) אֶת־ (-) בְּשַׂ֥ר (the flesh) אִיזָֽבֶל׃ (of Jezebel). 37  וְהָיָת (And shall be) נִבְלַ֣ת (the corpse) אִיזֶ֗בֶל (of Jezebel) כְּדֹ֛מֶן (as dung) עַל־ (on) פְּנֵ֥י (the face) הַשָּׂדֶ֖ה (of the field) בְּחֵ֣לֶק (in the portion) יִזְרְעֶ֑אל (of Jezreel), אֲשֶׁ֥ר (so that) לֹֽא־ (not) יֹאמְר֖וּ (they can say): זֹ֥את (This is) אִיזָֽבֶל׃פ (Jezebel).
