Psalm 7

I Take Refuge in You

שִׁגָּי֗וֹן (A Shiggaion) לְדָ֫וִ֥ד (of David), אֲשֶׁר־ (which) שָׁ֥ר (he sang) לַיהוָ֑ה (to YHWH), עַל־ (concerning) דִּבְרֵי־ (the words) כ֝֗וּשׁ (of Cush), בֶּן־ (the Ben-) יְמִינִֽי׃ (jaminite).

1יְהוָ֣ה (O YHWH) אֱ֭לֹהַי (my God), בְּךָ֣ (in You) חָסִ֑יתִי (I have taken refuge);

הוֹשִׁיעֵ֥נִי (keep me safe) מִכָּל־ (from all) רֹ֝דְפַ֗י (those pursuing me) וְהַצִּילֵֽנִי׃ (and deliver me),

2  פֶּן־ (Lest) יִטְרֹ֣ף (they tear) כְּאַרְיֵ֣ה (like a lion) נַפְשִׁ֑י (my soul),

פֹּ֝רֵ֗ק (tearing apart), וְאֵ֣ין (and there is no one) מַצִּֽיל׃ (snatching me up).

3  יְהוָ֣ה (O YHWH) אֱ֭לֹהַי (my God), אִם־ (if) עָשִׂ֣יתִי (I have done) זֹ֑את (this);

אִֽם־ (if) יֶשׁ־ (there is) עָ֥וֶל (injustice) בְּכַפָּֽי׃ (in my palms);

4  אִם־ (if) גָּ֭מַלְתִּי (I have dealt with) שֽׁוֹלְמִ֥י (the one at peace with me) רָ֑ע (with evil),

וָאֲחַלְּצָ֖ה (or have drawn out) צוֹרְרִ֣י (my enemy) רֵיקָֽם׃ (without cause).

5  יִֽרַדֹּ֥ף (Let pursue) אוֹיֵ֨ב׀ (the enemy) נַפְשִׁ֡י (my soul) וְיַשֵּׂ֗ג (and overtake it),

וְיִרְמֹ֣ס (and let him trample) לָאָ֣רֶץ (to the ground) חַיָּ֑י (my life),

וּכְבוֹדִ֓י׀ (and my honor) לֶעָפָ֖ר (in the dust) יַשְׁכֵּ֣ן (let him set down).

סֶֽלָה׃ (Selah)

6  ק֘וּמָ֤ה (arise), יְהוָ֨ה׀ (O YHWH), בְּאַפֶּ֗ךָ (in Your anger);

הִ֭נָּשֵׂא (lift up) בְּעַבְר֣וֹת (against the fury) צוֹרְרָ֑י (of my adversaries),

וְע֥וּרָה (and rouse Yourself) אֵ֝לַ֗י (for me) מִשְׁפָּ֥ט (a judgment) צִוִּֽיתָ׃ (You have appointed).

7  וַעֲדַ֣ת (And the congregation) לְ֭אֻמִּים (of peoples) תְּסוֹבְבֶ֑ךָּ (let surround You);

וְ֝עָלֶ֗יהָ (and over it) לַמָּר֥וֹם (in the heights) שֽׁוּבָה׃ (return).

8  יְהוָה֮ (YHWH) יָדִ֪ין (shall judge) עַ֫מִּ֥ים (the peoples);

שָׁפְטֵ֥נִי (Judge me), יְהוָ֑ה (O YHWH), כְּצִדְקִ֖י (according to my righteousness),

וּכְתֻמִּ֣י (and according to my integrity) עָלָֽי׃ (within me).

9  יִגְמָר־ (Let cease), נָ֬א (please), רַ֨ע׀ (the evil) רְשָׁעִים֮ (of the wicked),

וּתְכוֹנֵ֪ן (and may you establish) צַ֫דִּ֥יק (the righteous);

וּבֹחֵ֣ן (even the One testing) לִ֭בּ֗וֹת (hearts) וּכְלָי֗וֹת (and kidneys) אֱלֹהִ֥ים (God) צַדִּֽיק׃ (O Righteous).

10  מָֽגִנִּ֥י (My shield) עַל־ (is on) אֱלֹהִ֑ים (God),

מ֝וֹשִׁ֗יעַ (the One saving) יִשְׁרֵי־ (the upright) לֵֽב׃ (of heart).

11  אֱ֭לֹהִים (God is) שׁוֹפֵ֣ט (a judge) צַדִּ֑יק (righteous),

וְ֝אֵ֗ל (and a God) זֹעֵ֥ם (expressing wrath) בְּכָל־ (on every) יֽוֹם׃ (day).

12  אִם־ (If) לֹ֣א (not) יָ֭שׁוּב (one shall turn back),

חַרְבּ֣וֹ (then His sword) יִלְט֑וֹשׁ (He sharpens);

קַשְׁתּ֥וֹ (His bow) דָ֝רַ֗ךְ (He has bent) וַֽיְכוֹנְנֶֽהָ׃ (and prepared it).

13  וְ֭לוֹ (And for Himself) הֵכִ֣ין (He has prepared) כְּלֵי־ (instruments) מָ֑וֶת (of death);

חִ֝צָּ֗יו (His arrows) לְֽדֹלְקִ֥ים (into fiery shafts) יִפְעָֽל׃ (He makes).

14  הִנֵּ֥ה (Behold), יְחַבֶּל־ (he travails) אָ֑וֶן (with evil),

וְהָרָ֥ה (and he conceives) עָ֝מָ֗ל (trouble) וְיָ֣לַד (and brings forth) שָֽׁקֶר׃ (falsehood).

15  בּ֣וֹר (A pit) כָּ֭רָֽה (he has dug) וַֽיַּחְפְּרֵ֑הוּ (and hollowed it out),

וַ֝יִּפֹּ֗ל (and he has fallen) בְּשַׁ֣חַת (into a pit) יִפְעָֽל׃ (he has made).

16  יָשׁ֣וּב (Shall return) עֲמָל֣וֹ (His trouble) בְרֹאשׁ֑וֹ (upon his head),

וְעַ֥ל (and on) קָ֝דְקֳד֗וֹ (the top of his head) חֲמָס֥וֹ (his violence) יֵרֵֽד׃ (shall come down).

17  אוֹדֶ֣ה (I will confess) יְהוָ֣ה (YHWH) כְּצִדְק֑וֹ (according to His righteousness),

וַ֝אֲזַמְּרָ֗ה (and I will sing praise) שֵֽׁם־ (to the name) יְהוָ֥ה (of YHWH-) עֶלְיֽוֹן׃ (Elyon).
