A Song of Salvation
1 בַּיּ֣וֹם (Day) הַה֔וּא (In that) יוּשַׁ֥ר (will be sung) הַשִּׁיר־ (the song) הַזֶּ֖ה (this) בְּאֶ֣רֶץ (in the land) יְהוּדָ֑ה (of Judah):
עִ֣יר (City) עָז־ (a strong) לָ֔נוּ (we have);
יְשׁוּעָ֥ה (salvation) יָשִׁ֖ית (He sets) חוֹמ֥וֹת (for walls) וָחֵֽל׃ (and a rampart).
2 פִּתְח֖וּ (Open) שְׁעָרִ֑ים (the gates), וְיָבֹ֥א (that may enter in) גוֹי־ (a nation) צַדִּ֖יק (righteous),
שֹׁמֵ֥ר (one keeping) אֱמֻנִֽים׃ (faith),
3 יֵ֣צֶר (of mind) סָמ֔וּךְ (the one steadfast) תִּצֹּ֖ר (You will keep) שָׁל֣וֹם׀ (in peace) שָׁל֑וֹם (in peace),
כִּ֥י (because) בְךָ֖ (in You) בָּטֽוּחַ׃ (he trusts).
4 בִּטְח֥וּ (Trust) בַֽיהוָ֖ה (in YHWH) עֲדֵי־ (even to) עַ֑ד (forever),
כִּ֚י (for) בְּיָ֣הּ (in YAH) יְהוָ֔ה (YHWH) צ֖וּר (is a Rock) עוֹלָמִֽים׃ (of Ages).
5 כִּ֤י (For) הֵשַׁח֙ (He has brought down) יֹשְׁבֵ֣י (those dwelling) מָר֔וֹם (in a high place);
קִרְיָ֖ה (the city) נִשְׂגָּבָ֑ה (up high) יַשְׁפִּילֶ֤נָּה (He brings low);
יַשְׁפִּילָהּ֙ (He brings it down) עַד־ (to) אֶ֔רֶץ (the ground);
יַגִּיעֶ֖נָּה (He makes it touch) עַד־ (even to) עָפָֽר׃ (the dust).
6 תִּרְמְסֶ֖נָּה (Will trample it) רָ֑גֶל (the foot),
רַגְלֵ֥י (the feet) עָנִ֖י (of the poor),
פַּעֲמֵ֥י (the steps) דַלִּֽים׃ (of the lowly).
7 אֹ֥רַח (The path) לַצַּדִּ֖יק (of a righteous one) מֵֽישָׁרִ֑ים (is uprightness);
יָשָׁ֕ר (a straight) מַעְגַּ֥ל (track for) צַדִּ֖יק (for the righteous one) תְּפַלֵּֽס׃ (You make level).
8 אַ֣ף (Indeed), אֹ֧רַח (in the path) מִשְׁפָּטֶ֛יךָ (of Your judgments),
יְהוָ֖ה (O YHWH), קִוִּינ֑וּךָ (we wait for You);
לְשִׁמְךָ֥ (for Your name) וּֽלְזִכְרְךָ֖ (and for the remembrance of You)
תַּאֲוַת־ (is the desire) נָֽפֶשׁ׃ (of the soul).
9 נַפְשִׁ֤י (With my soul) אִוִּיתִ֙יךָ֙ (I have desired You) בַּלַּ֔יְלָה (in the night);
אַף־ (yes), רוּחִ֥י (with my spirit) בְקִרְבִּ֖י (within me) אֲשַֽׁחֲרֶ֑ךָּ (I seek You early);
כִּ֞י (for) כַּאֲשֶׁ֤ר (when) מִשְׁפָּטֶ֙יךָ֙ (Your judgments) לָאָ֔רֶץ (are on the earth),
צֶ֥דֶק (righteousness) לָמְד֖וּ (will learn) יֹשְׁבֵ֥י (those dwelling in) תֵבֵֽל׃ (the world).
10 יֻחַ֤ן (Let be favored) רָשָׁע֙ (the wicked),
בַּל־ (not) לָמַ֣ד (he will learn) צֶ֔דֶק (righteousness);
בְּאֶ֥רֶץ (in the land) נְכֹח֖וֹת (of uprightness) יְעַוֵּ֑ל (he acts unjustly),
וּבַל־ (and he can not) יִרְאֶ֖ה (see) גֵּא֥וּת (the majesty) יְהוָֽה׃ס (of YHWH).
11 יְהוָ֛ה (O YHWH), רָ֥מָה (is lifted high) יָדְךָ֖ (Your hand);
בַּל־ (they do not) יֶחֱזָי֑וּן (see it);
יֶחֱז֤וּ (let them see) וְיֵבֹ֙שׁוּ֙ (and be ashamed), קִנְאַת־ (the zeal for)
עָ֔ם (the people);
אַף־ (yes), אֵ֖שׁ (the fire) צָרֶ֥יךָ (of Your enemies)
תֹאכְלֵֽם׃ס (will devour them).
12 יְהוָ֕ה (O YHWH), תִּשְׁפֹּ֥ת (You will establish) שָׁל֖וֹם (peace) לָ֑נוּ (for us).
כִּ֛י (For) גַּ֥ם (even) כָּֽל־ (all) מַעֲשֵׂ֖ינוּ (our works),
פָּעַ֥לְתָּ (You have done) לָּֽנוּ׃ (for us).
13 יְהוָ֣ה (O YHWH) אֱלֹהֵ֔ינוּ (our God), בְּעָל֥וּנוּ (have ruled over us) אֲדֹנִ֖ים (lords) זֽוּלָתֶ֑ךָ (besides You);
לְבַד־ (only) בְּךָ֖ (by You) נַזְכִּ֥יר (we make mention) שְׁמֶֽךָ׃ (of Your name).
14 מֵתִים֙ (Those being dead), בַּל־ (not) יִחְי֔וּ (they will live);
רְפָאִ֖ים (the Rephaim) בַּל־ (not) יָקֻ֑מוּ (will rise);
לָכֵ֤ן (therefore) פָּקַ֙דְתָּ֙ (you have attended to) וַתַּשְׁמִידֵ֔ם (and destroyed them),
וַתְּאַבֵּ֥ד (and You have made to perish) כָּל־ (all) זֵ֖כֶר (memory) לָֽמוֹ׃ (of them).
15 יָסַ֤פְתָּ (You have added) לַגּוֹי֙ (to the nation), יְהוָ֔ה (O YHWH);
יָסַ֥פְתָּ (You have added) לַגּ֖וֹי (to the nation),
נִכְבָּ֑דְתָּ (You are glorified);
רִחַ֖קְתָּ (You have expanded) כָּל־ (all) קַצְוֵי־ (the borders) אָֽרֶץ׃ (of the land).
16 יְהוָ֖ה (O YHWH), בַּצַּ֣ר (in the distress) פְּקָד֑וּךָ (they visited You);
צָק֣וּן (they poured out) לַ֔חַשׁ (a whispering); מוּסָרְךָ֖ (with Your discipline) לָֽמוֹ׃ (upon them).
17 כְּמ֤וֹ (Like) הָרָה֙ (a pregnant woman) תַּקְרִ֣יב (drawing near) לָלֶ֔דֶת (to giving birth),
תָּחִ֥יל (writhes)— תִּזְעַ֖ק (and cries out) בַּחֲבָלֶ֑יהָ (in pain);
כֵּ֛ן (so) הָיִ֥ינוּ (have we been) מִפָּנֶ֖יךָ (before Your face), יְהוָֽה׃ (O YHWH).
18 הָרִ֣ינוּ (We were pregnant); חַ֔לְנוּ (we writhed);
כְּמ֖וֹ (as if) יָלַ֣דְנוּ (we gave birth), ר֑וּחַ (to the wind);
יְשׁוּעֹת֙ (salvation) בַּל־ (not) נַ֣עֲשֶׂה (we have accomplished) אֶ֔רֶץ (on earth),
וּבַֽל־ (and not) יִפְּל֖וּ (have fallen) יֹשְׁבֵ֥י (the dwellers) תֵבֵֽל׃ (of the world).
19 יִֽחְי֣וּ (Will live) מֵתֶ֔יךָ (your dead)— נְבֵלָתִ֖י (the corpses) יְקוּמ֑וּן (they rise).
הָקִ֨יצוּ (Awake) וְרַנְּנ֜וּ (and sing out), שֹׁכְנֵ֣י (O dwellers) עָפָ֗ר (of the dust),
כִּ֣י (for) טַ֤ל (a dew) אוֹרֹת֙ (of light) טַלֶּ֔ךָ (is your dew),
וָאָ֖רֶץ (and the earth) רְפָאִ֥ים (the Rephaim) תַּפִּֽיל׃ס (she will cast out).
20 לֵ֤ךְ (Go), עַמִּי֙ (my people), בֹּ֣א (come) בַחֲדָרֶ֔יךָ (into your chambers),
וּֽסְגֹ֥ר (and shut) דְּלָתֶיךָ (your doors) בַּעֲדֶ֑ךָ (behind you).
חֲבִ֥י (Hide yourself) כִמְעַט־ (a little) רֶ֖גַע (while),
עַד־ (until) יַעֲבוֹר (has passed by) זָֽעַם׃ (His anger).
21 כִּֽי־ (For) הִנֵּ֤ה (behold), יְהוָה֙ (YHWH) יֹצֵ֣א (is coming forth) מִמְּקוֹמ֔וֹ (from His place)
לִפְקֹ֛ד (to punish) עֲוֺ֥ן (iniquity) יֹֽשֵׁב־ (of the dwellers) הָאָ֖רֶץ (of the earth) עָלָ֑יו (the).
וְגִלְּתָ֤ה (And will uncover) הָאָ֙רֶץ֙ (the earth) אֶת־ (-) דָּמֶ֔יהָ (her bloodshed),
וְלֹֽא־ (and not) תְכַסֶּ֥ה (she will cover) ע֖וֹד (anymore) עַל־ (over) הֲרוּגֶֽיהָ׃ס (her slain).
