The Plot to Kill Jesus
(Matthew 26:1-5; Luke 22:1-6; John 11:45-57)

1And after two days it would be the Passover and the Feast of Unleavened Bread. And the chief priests and the scribes were seeking how, having taken Him by stealth, they might kill Him. 2For they were saying, “Not during the feast, lest there will be an uproar of the people.”

Jesus Anointed at Bethany
(Matthew 26:6-13; John 12:1-8)

3And of Him being in Bethany in the house of Simon the leper,a of Him having reclined, a woman came having an alabaster flask of fragrant oil of pure nard, of great price. Having broken the alabaster flask, she poured it on His head.

4And some were indignant within themselves: “Why has this the waste of the fragrant oil been made? 5For this fragrant oil could have been sold for above three hundred denarii,b and have been given to the poor.” And they were grumbling at her.

6And Jesus said, “Leave her alone; why do you cause trouble to her? She did a good work toward Me. 7For the poor you always have with you,c and you are able to do them good whenever you desire; but not always do you have Me. 8She did what she could. She came beforehand to anoint My body for the burial. 9And truly I say to you, wherever the gospel shall be proclaimed in the whole world, what this woman has done also will be spoken of, for a memorial of her.”

Judas Agrees to Betray Jesus
(Zechariah 11:10-17; Matthew 26:14-16; Matthew 27:3-10)

10And Judas Iscariot, one of the Twelve, went away to the chief priests, that he might betray Him to them. 11And having heard, they rejoiced and promised to give him money. And he was seeking how he might deliver Him up conveniently.

Preparing the Passover
(Psalm 41:1-13; Matthew 26:17-25; Luke 22:7-13; John 13:18-30)

12And on the first day of unleavened bread, when they were to sacrifice the Passover lamb, His disciples say to Him, “Where do You desire that, having gone, we should prepare that You may eat the Passover?”

13And He sends forth two of His disciples and says to them, “Go into the city, and a man carrying a pitcher of water will meet you. Follow him. 14And wherever he might enter, say to the master of the house that the Teacher says, ‘Where is My guest room, where I may eat the Passover with My disciples?’ 15And he will show you a large upper room, having been furnished and ready. And prepare for us there.”

16And his disciples went away, and came into the city, and found as He had said to them, and they prepared the Passover. 17And evening having arrived, He comes with the Twelve.

18And as they were reclining and were eating, Jesus said, “Truly I say to you that one of you who is eating with Me will betray Me.”

19They began to be grieved and to say to Him one by one, “Surely not I?”

20And He said to them, It is one of the Twelve, the one dipping in the bowl with Me. 21For indeed the Son of Man goes as it has been written concerning Him; but woe to that man by whom the Son of Man is betrayed; it were better for him if that man had not been born.”

The Last Supper
(Matthew 26:26-30; Luke 22:14-23; 1 Corinthians 11:17-34)

22And as they were eating, having taken bread, having spoken a blessing, He broke it and gave it to them and said, “Take it; this is My body.”

23And having taken the cup, having given thanks, He gave it to them, and they all drank of it. 24And He said to them, “This is My blood of the covenant,d which is being poured out for many. 25Truly I say to you that never will I drink of the fruit of the vine again, until that day when I drink it anew in the kingdom of God.”

26And having sung a hymn, they went out to the Mount of Olives.

Jesus Predicts Peter's Denial
(Matthew 26:31-35; Luke 22:31-38; John 13:36-38)

27And Jesus says to them, “You will all fall away,e for it has been written:

‘I will strike the shepherd,

and the sheep will be scattered.’f

28But after having arisen, I will go before you into Galilee.”

29And Peter was saying to Him, “Even if all will fall away, yet I will not.”

30And Jesus says to him, “Truly I say to you that now this night, before that the rooster crows twice, you yourself will deny Me three times.”

31And he kept saying emphatically, “If it is needful of me to die with You, never will I deny You.” And all of them were saying likewise also.

Jesus Prays at Gethsemane
(Matthew 26:36-46; Luke 22:39-46)

32And they come to a place, the name of which is Gethsemane; and He says to His disciples, “Sit here, while I shall pray.” 33And He takes Peter and James and John with Him; and He began to be greatly awe-struck and deeply distressed. 34And He says to them, “My soul is very sorrowful, even to death; remain here and watch.”

35And having gone forward a little, He fell upon the ground, and was praying that if it is possible, the hour might pass from Him. 36And He was saying, “Abba, Father, all things are possible to You; take away this cup from Me; but not what I will, but what You will.”

37And He comes and finds them sleeping. And He says to Peter, “Simon are you asleep? Were you not able to watch one hour? 38Watch and pray, so that you may not enter into temptation. For the spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak.”

39And again having gone away, He prayed, having said the same thing. 40And again having returned, he found them sleeping. For their the eyes were heavy, and they did not know what they should answer Him.

41And He comes the third time and says to them, “Are you still sleeping and taking your rest? It is enough; the hour has come. Behold, the Son of Man is delivered up into the hands of the sinful. 42Rise, let us go. Behold, the one betraying Me has drawn near!”

The Betrayal of Jesus
(Matthew 26:47-56; Luke 22:47-53; John 18:1-14)

43And immediately while yet He is speaking, Judas, one of the Twelve, comes up, and with Him a crowd with swords and clubs, from the chief priests and the scribes and the elders.

44And the one delivering Him up had given to them a sign, saying: “Whomever I shall kiss is He; seize Him and lead Him away securely.” 45And having arrived, having come up to Him immediately, he says, “Rabbi!” And he kissed Him.

46And they laid hands on Him and seized Him. 47And a certain one of those standing by, having drawn the sword, struck the servant of the high priest and cut off his ear.

48And Jesus answering said to them, “Are you come out with swords and clubs as against a robber, to capture Me? 49Every day I was with you in the temple teaching, and you did not seize Me. But it is that the Scriptures may be fulfilled.”

50And all having left Him, fled. 51And a certain young man was following Him, having cast a linen cloth about his naked body. And they seize him, 52and having left behind the linen cloth, he fled naked.

Jesus Faces the Sanhedrin
(Isaiah 53:1-8; Matthew 26:57-68; John 18:19-24; 1 Peter 2:21-25)

53And they led away Jesus to the high priest. And all the chief priests, and the elders, and the scribes come together. 54And Peter followed Him from afar off, as far as to within the court of the high priest; and he was sitting with the officers and warming himself at the fire.

55And the chief priests and all the Council were seeking testimony against Jesus to put Him to death, but they were not finding any. 56For many were bearing false testimony against Him, but their testimonies were not alike.

57And some having risen up, were bearing false testimony against Him, saying, 58“We heard Him saying, ‘I will destroy this temple, the one made with hands, and in three days I will build another, not made with hands.’” 59And their testimony was thus not alike.

60And the high priest having stood up in the midst, questioned Jesus, saying, “Do You not answer? What is it these testify against You?”

61But He was silent, and did not answer.

Again the high priest was questioning Him, and says to Him, “Are You the Christ, the Son of the Blessed One?”

62And Jesus said, “I am. And you will see the Son of Man sitting at the right hand of Power and coming with the clouds of heaven.”

63And the high priest, having torn his garments, says, “Why have we need of witnesses? 64You heard the blasphemy. What does it appear to you?”

And all condemned Him to be deserving of death.

65And some began to spit upon Him, and to cover up His face, and to strike Him and to say to Him, “Prophesy!” And the officers struck Him with the palms.

Peter Denies Jesus
(Matthew 26:69-75; Luke 22:54-62; John 18:15-18)

66And Peter being below in the courtyard, one of the servant girls of the high priest comes, 67and having seen Peter warming himself, having looked at him, she says, “You also were with the Nazarene, Jesus.”

68But he denied it, saying, “I neither know nor even understand what you say.” And he went forth out into the porch; and the rooster crowed.g

69And the servant girl, having seen him, began to say again to those standing by, “This is one of them.”

70But he denied it again.

And after a little, again those standing by were saying to Peter, “Truly you are of them, for you also are a Galilean.”h

71But he began to curse and to swear, “I do not know this man whom you speak of!” 72And immediately a rooster crowed for the second time.

And Peter remembered the word that Jesus had said to him, “Before the rooster crows twice, you will deny Me three times.” And having broken down, he began to weep.
