Job: Poor Comforters are You

NIVESVNASBKJVHCSB
Then Job replied:1Then Job answered and said:1Then Job answered,1Then Job answered and said,1Then Job answered:
"I have heard many things like these; you are miserable comforters, all of you!2“I have heard many such things; miserable comforters are you all.2"I have heard many such things; Sorry comforters are you all.2I have heard many such things: miserable comforters are ye all.2I have heard many things like these. You are all miserable comforters.
Will your long-winded speeches never end? What ails you that you keep on arguing?3Shall windy words have an end? Or what provokes you that you answer?3"Is there no limit to windy words? Or what plagues you that you answer?3Shall vain words have an end? or what emboldeneth thee that thou answerest?3Is there no end to your empty words? What provokes you that you continue testifying?
I also could speak like you, if you were in my place; I could make fine speeches against you and shake my head at you.4I also could speak as you do, if you were in my place; I could join words together against you and shake my head at you.4"I too could speak like you, If I were in your place. I could compose words against you And shake my head at you.4I also could speak as ye do: if your soul were in my soul's stead, I could heap up words against you, and shake mine head at you.4If you were in my place I could also talk like you. I could string words together against you and shake my head at you.

But my mouth would encourage you; comfort from my lips would bring you relief.5I could strengthen you with my mouth, and the solace of my lips would assuage your pain.5"I could strengthen you with my mouth, And the solace of my lips could lessen your pain.5But I would strengthen you with my mouth, and the moving of my lips should asswage your grief.5Instead, I would encourage you with my mouth, and the consolation from my lips would bring relief.
"Yet if I speak, my pain is not relieved; and if I refrain, it does not go away.6“If I speak, my pain is not assuaged, and if I forbear, how much of it leaves me?6"If I speak, my pain is not lessened, And if I hold back, what has left me?6Though I speak, my grief is not asswaged: and though I forbear, what am I eased?6Even if I speak, my suffering is not relieved, and if I hold back, what have I lost?
Surely, God, you have worn me out; you have devastated my entire household.7Surely now God has worn me out; he has made desolate all my company.7"But now He has exhausted me; You have laid waste all my company.7But now he hath made me weary: thou hast made desolate all my company.7Surely He has now exhausted me. You have devastated my entire family.
You have shriveled me up--and it has become a witness; my gauntness rises up and testifies against me.8And he has shriveled me up, which is a witness against me, and my leanness has risen up against me; it testifies to my face.8"You have shriveled me up, It has become a witness; And my leanness rises up against me, It testifies to my face.8And thou hast filled me with wrinkles, which is a witness against me: and my leanness rising up in me beareth witness to my face.8You have shriveled me up--it has become a witness; My frailty rises up against me and testifies to my face.
God assails me and tears me in his anger and gnashes his teeth at me; my opponent fastens on me his piercing eyes.9He has torn me in his wrath and hated me; he has gnashed his teeth at me; my adversary sharpens his eyes against me.9"His anger has torn me and hunted me down, He has gnashed at me with His teeth; My adversary glares at me.9He teareth me in his wrath, who hateth me: he gnasheth upon me with his teeth; mine enemy sharpeneth his eyes upon me.9His anger tears at me, and He harasses me. He gnashes His teeth at me. My enemy pierces me with His eyes.

People open their mouths to jeer at me; they strike my cheek in scorn and unite together against me.10Men have gaped at me with their mouth; they have struck me insolently on the cheek; they mass themselves together against me.10"They have gaped at me with their mouth, They have slapped me on the cheek with contempt; They have massed themselves against me.10They have gaped upon me with their mouth; they have smitten me upon the cheek reproachfully; they have gathered themselves together against me.10They open their mouths against me and strike my cheeks with contempt; they join themselves together against me.
God has turned me over to the ungodly and thrown me into the clutches of the wicked.11God gives me up to the ungodly and casts me into the hands of the wicked.11"God hands me over to ruffians And tosses me into the hands of the wicked.11God hath delivered me to the ungodly, and turned me over into the hands of the wicked.11God hands me over to unjust men; He throws me into the hands of the wicked.
All was well with me, but he shattered me; he seized me by the neck and crushed me. He has made me his target;12I was at ease, and he broke me apart; he seized me by the neck and dashed me to pieces; he set me up as his target;12"I was at ease, but He shattered me, And He has grasped me by the neck and shaken me to pieces; He has also set me up as His target.12I was at ease, but he hath broken me asunder: he hath also taken me by my neck, and shaken me to pieces, and set me up for his mark.12I was at ease, but He shattered me; He seized me by the scruff of the neck and smashed me to pieces. He set me up as His target;
his archers surround me. Without pity, he pierces my kidneys and spills my gall on the ground.13his archers surround me. He slashes open my kidneys and does not spare; he pours out my gall on the ground.13"His arrows surround me. Without mercy He splits my kidneys open; He pours out my gall on the ground.13His archers compass me round about, he cleaveth my reins asunder, and doth not spare; he poureth out my gall upon the ground.13His archers surround me. He pierces my kidneys without mercy and pours my bile on the ground.
Again and again he bursts upon me; he rushes at me like a warrior.14He breaks me with breach upon breach; he runs upon me like a warrior.14"He breaks through me with breach after breach; He runs at me like a warrior.14He breaketh me with breach upon breach, he runneth upon me like a giant.14He breaks through my defenses again and again; He charges at me like a warrior.

"I have sewed sackcloth over my skin and buried my brow in the dust.15I have sewed sackcloth upon my skin and have laid my strength in the dust.15"I have sewed sackcloth over my skin And thrust my horn in the dust.15I have sewed sackcloth upon my skin, and defiled my horn in the dust.15I have sewn sackcloth over my skin; I have buried my strength in the dust.
My face is red with weeping, dark shadows ring my eyes;16My face is red with weeping, and on my eyelids is deep darkness,16"My face is flushed from weeping, And deep darkness is on my eyelids,16My face is foul with weeping, and on my eyelids is the shadow of death;16My face has grown red with weeping, and darkness covers my eyes,
yet my hands have been free of violence and my prayer is pure.17although there is no violence in my hands, and my prayer is pure.17Although there is no violence in my hands, And my prayer is pure.17Not for any injustice in mine hands: also my prayer is pure.17although my hands are free from violence and my prayer is pure.
"Earth, do not cover my blood; may my cry never be laid to rest!18“O earth, cover not my blood, and let my cry find no resting place.18"O earth, do not cover my blood, And let there be no resting place for my cry.18O earth, cover not thou my blood, and let my cry have no place.18Earth, do not cover my blood; may my cry for help find no resting place.
Even now my witness is in heaven; my advocate is on high.19Even now, behold, my witness is in heaven, and he who testifies for me is on high.19"Even now, behold, my witness is in heaven, And my advocate is on high.19Also now, behold, my witness is in heaven, and my record is on high.19Even now my witness is in heaven, and my advocate is in the heights!

My intercessor is my friend as my eyes pour out tears to God;20My friends scorn me; my eye pours out tears to God,20"My friends are my scoffers; My eye weeps to God.20My friends scorn me: but mine eye poureth out tears unto God.20My friends scoff at me as I weep before God.
on behalf of a man he pleads with God as one pleads for a friend.21that he would argue the case of a man with God, as a son of man does with his neighbor.21"O that a man might plead with God As a man with his neighbor!21O that one might plead for a man with God, as a man pleadeth for his neighbour!21I wish that someone might arbitrate between a man and God just as a man pleads for his friend.
"Only a few years will pass before I take the path of no return.22For when a few years have come I shall go the way from which I shall not return.22"For when a few years are past, I shall go the way of no return.22When a few years are come, then I shall go the way whence I shall not return.22For only a few years will pass before I go the way of no return.
