The Widow’s Oil
1 וְאִשָּׁ֣ה (And woman) אַחַ֣ת (a) מִנְּשֵׁ֣י (of the wives) בְנֵֽי־ (of the sons) הַ֠נְּבִיאִים (of the prophets) צָעֲקָ֨ה (cried out) אֶל־ (to) אֱלִישָׁ֜ע (Elisha), לֵאמֹ֗ר (saying), עַבְדְּךָ֤ (Your servant) אִישִׁי֙ (my husband) מֵ֔ת (is dead), וְאַתָּ֣ה (and you) יָדַ֔עְתָּ (know) כִּ֣י (that) עַבְדְּךָ֔ (your servant) הָיָ֥ה (was) יָרֵ֖א (fearing) אֶת־ (-) יְהוָ֑ה (YHWH), וְהַ֨נֹּשֶׁ֔ה (and the creditor) בָּ֗א (is coming) לָקַ֜חַת (to take) אֶת־ (-) שְׁנֵ֧י (two) יְלָדַ֛י (my sons) ל֖וֹ (to be his) לַעֲבָדִֽים׃ (slaves).
2 וַיֹּ֨אמֶר (And said) אֵלֶ֤יהָ (to her) אֱלִישָׁע֙ (Elisha), מָ֣ה (What) אֶֽעֱשֶׂה־ (shall I do) לָּ֔ךְ (for you)? הַגִּ֣ידִי (Tell) לִ֔י (me) מַה־ (what) יֶּשׁ־ (do have) לְכִי (you) בַּבָּ֑יִת (in the house)?
וַתֹּ֗אמֶר (And she said), אֵ֣ין (Not has) לְשִׁפְחָתְךָ֥ (Your maidservant) כֹל֙ (anything) בַּבַּ֔יִת (in the house) כִּ֖י (except) אִם־ (but) אָס֥וּךְ (a jar) שָֽׁמֶן׃ (of oil).
3 וַיֹּ֗אמֶר (And he said), לְכִ֨י (Go), שַׁאֲלִי־ (ask) לָ֤ךְ (for yourself) כֵּלִים֙ (vessels) מִן־ (from) הַח֔וּץ (outside) מֵאֵ֖ת (from) כָּל־ (all) שִׁכְנָכֵי (your neighbors)— כֵּלִ֥ים (vessels) רֵקִ֖ים (empty). אַל־ (Not) תַּמְעִֽיטִי׃ (do let it be few).
4 וּבָ֗את (And you have come in), וְסָגַ֤רְתְּ (and you shall shut) הַדֶּ֙לֶת֙ (the door) בַּעֲדֵ֣ךְ (behind you) וּבְעַד־ (and behind) בָּנַ֔יִךְ (your sons), וְיָצַ֕קְתְּ (and pour it) עַ֥ל (into) כָּל־ (all) הַכֵּלִ֖ים (vessels), הָאֵ֑לֶּה (these) וְהַמָּלֵ֖א (and the full ones) תַּסִּֽיעִי׃ (set aside).
5 וַתֵּ֙לֶךְ֙ (And she went) מֵֽאִתּ֔וֹ (from him) וַתִּסְגֹּ֣ר (and shut) הַדֶּ֔לֶת (the door) בַּעֲדָ֖הּ (behind her) וּבְעַ֣ד (and behind) בָּנֶ֑יהָ (her sons). הֵ֛ם (They) מַגִּשִׁ֥ים (brought them near) אֵלֶ֖יהָ (to her), וְהִ֥יא (and she) מֵיצָקֶת׃ (poured it out).
6 וַיְהִ֣י׀ (And it came to pass), כִּמְלֹ֣את (when were full) הַכֵּלִ֗ים (the vessels), וַתֹּ֤אמֶר (that she said) אֶל־ (to) בְּנָהּ֙ (her son), הַגִּ֨ישָׁה (Bring) אֵלַ֥י (to me) עוֹד֙ (another) כֶּ֔לִי (vessel).
וַיֹּ֣אמֶר (And he said) אֵלֶ֔יהָ (to her), אֵ֥ין (There is not) ע֖וֹד (another) כֶּ֑לִי (vessel). וַֽיַּעֲמֹ֖ד (And stood) הַשָּֽׁמֶן׃ (the oil).
7 וַתָּבֹ֗א (And she came) וַתַּגֵּד֙ (and told) לְאִ֣ישׁ (the man) הָאֱלֹהִ֔ים (of God), וַיֹּ֗אמֶר (and he said), לְכִי֙ (Go), מִכְרִ֣י (sell) אֶת־ (-) הַשֶּׁ֔מֶן (the oil), וְשַׁלְּמִ֖י (and pay) אֶת־ (-) נִשְׁיֵכִי (your debt), וְאַ֣תְּ (and you) בְּנֵיכִי (and your sons) תִֽחְיִ֖י (live) בַּנּוֹתָֽר׃פ (on the rest).
The Shunammite Woman
(Matthew 10:40–42)
8 וַיְהִ֨י (And it came to pass) הַיּ֜וֹם (one day) וַיַּעֲבֹ֧ר (that went) אֱלִישָׁ֣ע (Elisha) אֶל־ (to) שׁוּנֵ֗ם (Shunem), וְשָׁם֙ (and there) אִשָּׁ֣ה (was a woman) גְדוֹלָ֔ה (great), וַתַּחֲזֶק־ (and she persuaded) בּ֖וֹ (him) לֶאֱכָל־ (to eat) לָ֑חֶם (some food). וַֽיְהִי֙ (And it was), מִדֵּ֣י (as often as) עָבְר֔וֹ (he passed by), יָסֻ֥ר (he would turn aside) שָׁ֖מָּה (there) לֶאֱכָל־ (to eat) לָֽחֶם׃ (some food).
9 וַתֹּ֙אמֶר֙ (And she said) אֶל־ (to) אִישָׁ֔הּ (her husband), הִנֵּה־ (Behold) נָ֣א (now), יָדַ֔עְתִּי (I know) כִּ֛י (that) אִ֥ישׁ (a man) אֱלֹהִ֖ים (of God) קָד֣וֹשׁ (holy) ה֑וּא (he is), עֹבֵ֥ר (who passes) עָלֵ֖ינוּ (by us) תָּמִֽיד׃ (continually).
10 נַֽעֲשֶׂה־ (Let us make) נָּ֤א (please) עֲלִיַּת־ (an upper room) קִיר֙ (on the wall) קְטַנָּ֔ה (small), וְנָשִׂ֨ים (and let us put) ל֥וֹ (for him) שָׁ֛ם (there) מִטָּ֥ה (a bed) וְשֻׁלְחָ֖ן (and a table) וְכִסֵּ֣א (and a chair) וּמְנוֹרָ֑ה (and a lampstand). וְהָיָ֛ה (And it will be), בְּבֹא֥וֹ (in his coming) אֵלֵ֖ינוּ (to us), יָס֥וּר (he can turn aside) שָֽׁמָּה׃ (there).
11 וַיְהִ֥י (And came to pass) הַיּ֖וֹם (the day) וַיָּ֣בֹא (that he came) שָׁ֑מָּה (there), וַיָּ֥סַר (and he turned aside) אֶל־ (to) הָעֲלִיָּ֖ה (the upper room) וַיִּשְׁכַּב־ (and lay down) שָֽׁמָּה׃ (there).
12 וַיֹּ֙אמֶר֙ (And he said) אֶל־ (to) גֵּחֲזִ֣י (Gehazi) נַעֲר֔וֹ (his servant), קְרָ֖א (Call) לַשּׁוּנַמִּ֣ית (the Shunammitess) הַזֹּ֑את (this).
וַיִּקְרָא־ (And he called) לָ֔הּ (her) וַֽתַּעֲמֹ֖ד (and she stood) לְפָנָֽיו׃ (before his face).
13 וַיֹּ֣אמֶר (And he said) ל֗וֹ (to him), אֱמָר־ (Say) נָ֣א (now) אֵלֶיהָ֮ (to her) הִנֵּ֣ה (Behold), חָרַ֣דְתְּ׀ (you have trembled) אֵלֵינוּ֮ (concerning us) אֶת־ (with) כָּל־ (all) הַחֲרָדָ֣ה (the trouble) הַזֹּאת֒ (this). מֶ֚ה (What) לַעֲשׂ֣וֹת (am I to do) לָ֔ךְ (for you)? הֲיֵ֤שׁ (Am I indeed) לְדַבֶּר־ (to speak) לָךְ֙ (for you) אֶל־ (to) הַמֶּ֔לֶךְ (the king) א֖וֹ (or) אֶל־ (to) שַׂ֣ר (the commander) הַצָּבָ֑א (of the army)?
וַתֹּ֕אמֶר (And she answered), בְּת֥וֹךְ (In the midst) עַמִּ֖י (of my people) אָנֹכִ֥י (I) יֹשָֽׁבֶת׃ (am dwelling).
14 וַיֹּ֕אמֶר (And he said), וּמֶ֖ה (And what is) לַעֲשׂ֣וֹת (to be done) לָ֑הּ (for her).
וַיֹּ֣אמֶר (And answered) גֵּיחֲזִ֗י (Gehazi), אֲבָ֛ל (Truly), בֵּ֥ן (a son) אֵֽין־ (there is not) לָ֖הּ (unto her), וְאִישָׁ֥הּ (and her husband) זָקֵֽן׃ (is old).
15 וַיֹּ֖אמֶר (And he said), קְרָא־ (Call) לָ֑הּ (to her).
וַיִּקְרָא־ (And he called) לָ֔הּ (to her), וַֽתַּעֲמֹ֖ד (and she stood) בַּפָּֽתַח׃ (in the doorway).
16 וַיֹּ֗אמֶר (And he said), לַמּוֹעֵ֤ד (At the appointed time), הַזֶּה֙ (this) כָּעֵ֣ת (time) חַיָּ֔ה (of life), אַתִּי (you) חֹבֶ֣קֶת (shall embrace) בֵּ֑ן (a son).
וַתֹּ֗אמֶר (And she said), אַל־ (No), אֲדֹנִי֙ (my lord), אִ֣ישׁ (O man) הָאֱלֹהִ֔ים (of God), אַל־ (not) תְּכַזֵּ֖ב (do lie) בְּשִׁפְחָתֶֽךָ׃ (to your maidservant).
17 וַתַּ֥הַר (And conceived) הָאִשָּׁ֖ה (the woman) וַתֵּ֣לֶד (and bore) בֵּ֑ן (a son) לַמּוֹעֵ֤ד (at the appointed) הַזֶּה֙ (this) כָּעֵ֣ת (this) חַיָּ֔ה (of life) אֲשֶׁר־ (that) דִּבֶּ֥ר (had spoken) אֵלֶ֖יהָ (to her) אֱלִישָֽׁע׃ (Elisha).
Elisha Raises the Shunammite’s Son
(Acts 20:7–12)
18 וַיִּגְדַּ֖ל (And grew) הַיָּ֑לֶד (the child), וַיְהִ֣י (and came to pass) הַיּ֔וֹם (the day) וַיֵּצֵ֥א (that he went out) אֶל־ (to) אָבִ֖יו (his father) אֶל־ (to) הַקֹּצְרִֽים׃ (the harvesters).
19 וַיֹּ֥אמֶר (And he said) אֶל־ (to) אָבִ֖יו (his father), רֹאשִׁ֣י׀ (My head)! רֹאשִׁ֑י (My head)!
וַיֹּ֙אמֶר֙ (And he said) אֶל־ (to) הַנַּ֔עַר (a servant), שָׂאֵ֖הוּ (Carry him) אֶל־ (to) אִמּֽוֹ׃ (his mother).
20 וַיִּשָּׂאֵ֔הוּ (And he lifted him) וַיְבִיאֵ֖הוּ (and brought him) אֶל־ (to) אִמּ֑וֹ (his mother), וַיֵּ֧שֶׁב (and he sat) עַל־ (on) בִּרְכֶּ֛יהָ (her knees) עַד־ (until) הַֽצָּהֳרַ֖יִם (the noon), וַיָּמֹֽת׃ (and he died).
21 וַתַּ֙עַל֙ (And she went up) וַתַּשְׁכִּבֵ֔הוּ (and laid him) עַל־ (on) מִטַּ֖ת (the bed) אִ֣ישׁ (of the man) הָאֱלֹהִ֑ים (of God), וַתִּסְגֹּ֥ר (and she shut the door) בַּעֲד֖וֹ (behind him) וַתֵּצֵֽא׃ (and went out).
22 וַתִּקְרָא֮ (And she called) אֶל־ (to) אִישָׁהּ֒ (her husband) וַתֹּ֗אמֶר (and said), שִׁלְחָ֨ה (Send) נָ֥א (please) לִי֙ (me) אֶחָ֣ד (one) מִן־ (of) הַנְּעָרִ֔ים (the young men), וְאַחַ֖ת (and one) הָאֲתֹנ֑וֹת (of the donkeys), וְאָר֛וּצָה (that I may run) עַד־ (to) אִ֥ישׁ (the man) הָאֱלֹהִ֖ים (of God) וְאָשֽׁוּבָה׃ (and return).
23 וַיֹּ֗אמֶר (And he said), מַ֠דּוּעַ (Why) אַתִּי (are you) הֹלַכְתִּי (going) אֵלָיו֙ (to him) הַיּ֔וֹם (today)? לֹֽא־ (It is not) חֹ֖דֶשׁ (the New Moon) וְלֹ֣א (and not) שַׁבָּ֑ת (the Sabbath).
וַתֹּ֖אמֶר (And she said), שָׁלֽוֹם׃ (Peace).
24 וַֽתַּחֲבֹשׁ֙ (And she saddled) הָֽאָת֔וֹן (a donkey) וַתֹּ֥אמֶר (and said) אֶֽל־ (to) נַעֲרָ֖הּ (her servant), נְהַ֣ג (Drive) וָלֵ֑ךְ (and go forward). אַל־ (Not) תַּעֲצָר־ (do slacken) לִ֣י (for me) לִרְכֹּ֔ב (the pace), כִּ֖י (for) אִם־ (unless) אָמַ֥רְתִּי (I speak) לָֽךְ׃ (to you).
25 וַתֵּ֗לֶךְ (And she departed) וַתָּב֛וֹא (and went in) אֶל־ (to) אִ֥ישׁ (the man) הָאֱלֹהִ֖ים (of God) אֶל־ (at) הַ֣ר (Mount) הַכַּרְמֶ֑ל (Carmel).
וַ֠יְהִי (And it came to pass), כִּרְא֨וֹת (when saw) אִישׁ־ (the man) הָאֱלֹהִ֤ים (of God) אֹתָהּ֙ (her) מִנֶּ֔גֶד (afar off), וַיֹּ֙אמֶר֙ (that he said) אֶל־ (to) גֵּיחֲזִ֣י (Gehazi) נַעֲר֔וֹ (his servant), הִנֵּ֖ה (Behold), הַשּׁוּנַמִּ֥ית (the Shunammitess) הַלָּֽז׃ (this).
26 עַתָּה֮ (Now) רֽוּץ־ (run) נָ֣א (please) לִקְרָאתָהּ֒ (to meet her), וֶאֱמָר־ (and say) לָ֗הּ (to her), הֲשָׁל֥וֹם (Is it all well) לָ֛ךְ (for you)? הֲשָׁל֥וֹם (Is it well) לְאִישֵׁ֖ךְ (for your husband)? הֲשָׁל֣וֹם (Is it well) לַיָּ֑לֶד (for the child)?
וַתֹּ֖אמֶר (And she answered), שָׁלֽוֹם׃ (It is well).
27 וַתָּבֹ֞א (And she came) אֶל־ (to) אִ֤ישׁ (the man) הָֽאֱלֹהִים֙ (of God) אֶל־ (at) הָהָ֔ר (the hill), וַֽתַּחֲזֵ֖ק (and she caught) בְּרַגְלָ֑יו (by him the feet). וַיִּגַּ֨שׁ (And came near) גֵּֽיחֲזִ֜י (Gehazi) לְהָדְפָ֗הּ (to push her away). וַיֹּאמֶר֩ (And said) אִ֨ישׁ (the man) הָאֱלֹהִ֤ים (of God), הַרְפֵּֽה־ (Let alone) לָהּ֙ (her), כִּֽי־ (for) נַפְשָׁ֣הּ (her soul) מָֽרָה־ (is bitter) לָ֔הּ (to her), וַֽיהוָה֙ (and YHWH) הֶעְלִ֣ים (has hidden it) מִמֶּ֔נִּי (from me) וְלֹ֥א (and not) הִגִּ֖יד (has told) לִֽי׃ (me).
28 וַתֹּ֕אמֶר (And she said), הֲשָׁאַ֥לְתִּי (Did I ask) בֵ֖ן (a son) מֵאֵ֣ת (from) אֲדֹנִ֑י (my lord)? הֲלֹ֣א (Did not) אָמַ֔רְתִּי (I say), לֹ֥א (Do not) תַשְׁלֶ֖ה (deceive) אֹתִֽי׃ (me).
29 וַיֹּ֨אמֶר (And he said) לְגֵיחֲזִ֜י (to Gehazi), חֲגֹ֣ר (Gird up) מָתְנֶ֗יךָ (your loins), וְקַ֨ח (and take) מִשְׁעַנְתִּ֣י (my staff) בְיָדְךָ֮ (in your hand), וָלֵךְ֒ (and be on your way). כִּֽי־ (If) תִמְצָ֥א (you meet) אִישׁ֙ (anyone), לֹ֣א (not) תְבָרְכֶ֔נּוּ (do greet him). וְכִֽי־ (And if) יְבָרֶכְךָ֥ (greets you) אִ֖ישׁ (anyone), לֹ֣א (not) תַעֲנֶנּ֑וּ (do answer him). וְשַׂמְתָּ֥ (And lay) מִשְׁעַנְתִּ֖י (my staff) עַל־ (on) פְּנֵ֥י (the face) הַנָּֽעַר׃ (of the boy).
30 וַתֹּ֙אמֶר֙ (And said) אֵ֣ם (the mother) הַנַּ֔עַר (of the child), חַי־ (As lives) יְהוָ֥ה (YHWH) וְחֵֽי־ (and as lives) נַפְשְׁךָ֖ (your soul), אִם־ (not) אֶעֶזְבֶ֑ךָּ (I will leave you). וַיָּ֖קָם (And he arose) וַיֵּ֥לֶךְ (and followed) אַחֲרֶֽיהָ׃ (her).
31 וְגֵחֲזִ֞י (And Gehazi) עָבַ֣ר (went on) לִפְנֵיהֶ֗ם (ahead of them) וַיָּ֤שֶׂם (and laid) אֶת־ (-) הַמִּשְׁעֶ֙נֶת֙ (the staff) עַל־ (on) פְּנֵ֣י (the face) הַנַּ֔עַר (of the boy). וְאֵ֥ין (And there was no) ק֖וֹל (voice) וְאֵ֣ין (and no) קָ֑שֶׁב (hearing). וַיָּ֤שָׁב (And he turned back) לִקְרָאתוֹ֙ (to meet him) וַיַּגֶּד־ (and declared) ל֣וֹ (to him), לֵאמֹ֔ר (saying), לֹ֥א (Not) הֵקִ֖יץ (has awakened) הַנָּֽעַר׃ (the child).
32 וַיָּבֹ֥א (And came) אֱלִישָׁ֖ע (Elisha) הַבָּ֑יְתָה (into the house), וְהִנֵּ֤ה (and behold) הַנַּ֙עַר֙ (the boy) מֵ֔ת (was dead), מֻשְׁכָּ֖ב (lying) עַל־ (on) מִטָּתֽוֹ׃ (his bed).
33 וַיָּבֹ֕א (And he went in) וַיִּסְגֹּ֥ר (and shut) הַדֶּ֖לֶת (the door) בְּעַ֣ד (behind) שְׁנֵיהֶ֑ם (the two of them), וַיִּתְפַּלֵּ֖ל (and he prayed) אֶל־ (to) יְהוָֽה׃ (YHWH).
34 וַיַּ֜עַל (And he went up) וַיִּשְׁכַּ֣ב (and lay) עַל־ (on) הַיֶּ֗לֶד (the child), וַיָּשֶׂם֩ (and he put) פִּ֨יו (his mouth) עַל־ (on) פִּ֜יו (his mouth), וְעֵינָ֤יו (and his eyes) עַל־ (on) עֵינָיו֙ (his eyes), וְכַפָּ֣יו (and his hands) עַל־ (on) כַּפּוֹ (his hands). וַיִּגְהַ֖ר (And he stretched out himself) עָלָ֑יו (on him), וַיָּ֖חָם (and became warm) בְּשַׂ֥ר (the flesh) הַיָּֽלֶד׃ (of the child).
35 וַיָּ֜שָׁב (And he returned), וַיֵּ֣לֶךְ (and walked) בַּבַּ֗יִת (in the house) אַחַ֥ת (once) הֵ֙נָּה֙ (here) וְאַחַ֣ת (and once) הֵ֔נָּה (here). וַיַּ֖עַל (And again he went up) וַיִּגְהַ֣ר (and stretched out himself) עָלָ֑יו (on him). וַיְזוֹרֵ֤ר (And sneezed) הַנַּ֙עַר֙ (the boy) עַד־ (up to) שֶׁ֣בַע (seven) פְּעָמִ֔ים (times), וַיִּפְקַ֥ח (and opened) הַנַּ֖עַר (the boy) אֶת־ (-) עֵינָֽיו׃ (his eyes).
36 וַיִּקְרָ֣א (And he called) אֶל־ (to) גֵּיחֲזִ֗י (Gehazi) וַיֹּ֙אמֶר֙ (and said), קְרָא֙ (Call) אֶל־ (to) הַשֻּׁנַמִּ֣ית (the Shunammitess) הַזֹּ֔את (this). וַיִּקְרָאֶ֖הָ (And he called her), וַתָּב֣וֹא (and she came in) אֵלָ֑יו (to him).
וַיֹּ֖אמֶר (And he said), שְׂאִ֥י (Lift up) בְנֵֽךְ׃ (your son).
37 וַתָּבֹא֙ (And she went in) וַתִּפֹּ֣ל (and fell) עַל־ (at) רַגְלָ֔יו (his feet) וַתִּשְׁתַּ֖חוּ (and she bowed herself) אָ֑רְצָה (to the earth). וַתִּשָּׂ֥א (And she lifted) אֶת־ (-) בְּנָ֖הּ (her son) וַתֵּצֵֽא׃פ (and went out).
Elisha Purifies the Poisonous Stew
38 וֶאֱלִישָׁ֞ע (And Elisha) שָׁ֤ב (returned) הַגִּלְגָּ֙לָה֙ (to Gilgal), וְהָרָעָ֣ב (and the famine) בָּאָ֔רֶץ (was in the land). וּבְנֵי֙ (And the sons) הַנְּבִיאִ֔ים (of the prophets) יֹשְׁבִ֖ים (were sitting) לְפָנָ֑יו (before his face), וַיֹּ֣אמֶר (and he said) לְנַעֲר֗וֹ (to his servant), שְׁפֹת֙ (Put on) הַסִּ֣יר (the pot) הַגְּדוֹלָ֔ה (large) וּבַשֵּׁ֥ל (and boil) נָזִ֖יד (stew) לִבְנֵ֥י (for the sons) הַנְּבִיאִֽים׃ (of the prophets).
39 וַיֵּצֵ֨א (And went out) אֶחָ֣ד (one) אֶל־ (into) הַשָּׂדֶה֮ (the field) לְלַקֵּ֣ט (to gather) אֹרֹת֒ (herbs), וַיִּמְצָא֙ (and he found) גֶּ֣פֶן (a vine) שָׂדֶ֔ה (of the field), וַיְלַקֵּ֥ט (and he gathered) מִמֶּ֛נּוּ (from it) פַּקֻּעֹ֥ת (gourds) שָׂדֶ֖ה (of the field)— מְלֹ֣א (the fullness) בִגְד֑וֹ (of his garment)— וַיָּבֹ֗א (and he came) וַיְפַלַּ֛ח (and sliced them) אֶל־ (into) סִ֥יר (the pot) הַנָּזִ֖יד (of stew), כִּֽי־ (though) לֹ֥א (not) יָדָֽעוּ׃ (they knew).
40 וַיִּֽצְק֥וּ (And they served it) לַאֲנָשִׁ֖ים (to the men) לֶאֱכ֑וֹל (to eat). וַ֠יְהִי (And it came to pass), כְּאָכְלָ֨ם (as they were eating) מֵהַנָּזִ֜יד (the stew), וְהֵ֣מָּה (that they) צָעָ֗קוּ (cried out) וַיֹּֽאמְרוּ֙ (and said), מָ֤וֶת (Death is) בַּסִּיר֙ (in the pot), אִ֣ישׁ (O man) הָאֱלֹהִ֔ים (of God). וְלֹ֥א (And not) יָכְל֖וּ (they could) לֶאֱכֹֽל׃ (eat it).
41 וַיֹּ֙אמֶר֙ (And he said), וּקְחוּ־ (And bring) קֶ֔מַח (flour). וַיַּשְׁלֵ֖ךְ (And he put it) אֶל־ (into) הַסִּ֑יר (the pot) וַיֹּ֗אמֶר (and said), צַ֤ק (Serve it) לָעָם֙ (to the people), וְיֹאכֵ֔לוּ (that they may eat). וְלֹ֥א (And not) הָיָ֛ה (there was) דָּבָ֥ר (a thing) רָ֖ע (harmful) בַּסִּֽיר׃ס (in the pot).

42 וְאִ֨ישׁ (And a man) בָּ֜א (came) מִבַּ֣עַל (from Baal-) שָׁלִ֗שָׁה (shalishah), וַיָּבֵא֩ (and he brought) לְאִ֨ישׁ (to the man) הָאֱלֹהִ֜ים (of God) לֶ֤חֶם (bread) בִּכּוּרִים֙ (of the firstfruits), עֶשְׂרִֽים־ (twenty) לֶ֣חֶם (loaves) שְׂעֹרִ֔ים (of barley), וְכַרְמֶ֖ל (and ripe grain) בְּצִקְלֹנ֑וֹ (in his sack).
וַיֹּ֕אמֶר (And he said), תֵּ֥ן (Give it) לָעָ֖ם (to the people), וְיֹאכֵֽלוּ׃ (that they may eat).
43 וַיֹּ֙אמֶר֙ (And said) מְשָׁ֣רְת֔וֹ (his servant), מָ֚ה (How) אֶתֵּ֣ן (shall I set) זֶ֔ה (this) לִפְנֵ֖י (before the face of) מֵ֣אָה (a hundred) אִ֑ישׁ (men)?
וַיֹּ֗אמֶר (And He said again) תֵּ֤ן (Give it) לָעָם֙ (to the people), וְיֹאכֵ֔לוּ (that they may eat). כִּ֣י (For) כֹ֥ה (thus) אָמַ֛ר (says) יְהוָ֖ה (YHWH), אָכֹ֥ל (They shall eat) וְהוֹתֵֽר׃ (and have left over).
44 וַיִּתֵּ֧ן (And he set it) לִפְנֵיהֶ֛ם (before them), וַיֹּאכְל֥וּ (and they ate) וַיּוֹתִ֖רוּ (and had left over), כִּדְבַ֥ר (according to the word) יְהוָֽה׃פ (of YHWH).
