1 Finally, brothers, pray for us, that the word of the Lord may spread quickly and be held in honor, just as it was with you. Finally, brothers, pray for us, that the word of the Lord may speed ahead and be honored, as happened among you, Finally, brethren, pray for us, that the word of the Lord may have <i>free</i> course, and be glorified, even as <i>it is</i> with you: Finally, brothers <i>and sisters,</i> pray for us that the word of the Lord will spread rapidly and be glorified, just as <i>it was</i> also with you; As for other matters, brothers and sisters, pray for us that the message of the Lord may spread rapidly and be honored, just as it was with you.
2 And pray that we may be delivered from wicked and evil men; for not everyone holds to the faith. and that we may be delivered from wicked and evil men. For not all have faith. And that we may be delivered from unreasonable and wicked men: for all <i>men</i> have not faith. and that we will be rescued from troublesome and evil people; for not all have the faith. And pray that we may be delivered from wicked and evil people, for not everyone has faith.
3 But the Lord is faithful, and He will strengthen you and guard you from the evil one. But the Lord is faithful. He will establish you and guard you against the evil one. But the Lord is faithful, who shall stablish you, and keep <i>you</i> from evil. But the Lord is faithful, and He will strengthen and protect you from the evil one. But the Lord is faithful, and he will strengthen you and protect you from the evil one.
4 And we have confidence in the Lord that you are doing and will continue to do what we command. And we have confidence in the Lord about you, that you are doing and will do the things that we command. And we have confidence in the Lord touching you, that ye both do and will do the things which we command you. We have confidence in the Lord concerning you, that you are doing, and will do, what we command. We have confidence in the Lord that you are doing and will continue to do the things we command.
5 May the Lord direct your hearts into God’s love and Christ’s perseverance. May the Lord direct your hearts to the love of God and to the steadfastness of Christ. 6 Now we command you, brothers, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, to keep away from any brother who leads an undisciplined life that is not in keeping with the tradition you received from us. Now we command you, brothers, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that you keep away from any brother who is walking in idleness and not in accord with the tradition that you received from us. Now we command you, brethren, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that ye withdraw yourselves from every brother that walketh disorderly, and not after the tradition which he received of us. Now we command you, brothers <i>and sisters,</i> in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that you keep away from every brother <i>or sister</i> who leads a disorderly life and not <i>one</i> in accordance with the tradition which you received from us. In the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, we command you, brothers and sisters, to keep away from every believer who is idle and disruptive and does not live according to the teaching you received from us.
7 For you yourselves know how you ought to imitate us, because we were not undisciplined among you, For you yourselves know how you ought to imitate us, because we were not idle when we were with you, For yourselves know how ye ought to follow us: for we behaved not ourselves disorderly among you; For you yourselves know how you ought to follow our example, because we did not act in an undisciplined way among you, For you yourselves know how you ought to follow our example. We were not idle when we were with you,
8 nor did we eat anyone’s food without paying for it. Instead, in labor and toil, we worked night and day so that we would not be a burden to any of you. nor did we eat anyone’s bread without paying for it, but with toil and labor we worked night and day, that we might not be a burden to any of you. Neither did we eat any man's bread for nought; but wrought with labour and travail night and day, that we might not be chargeable to any of you: nor did we eat anyone’s bread without paying for it, but with labor and hardship we <i>kept</i> working night and day so that we would not be a burden to any of you; nor did we eat anyone’s food without paying for it. On the contrary, we worked night and day, laboring and toiling so that we would not be a burden to any of you.
9 Not that we lack this right, but we wanted to offer ourselves as an example for you to imitate. It was not because we do not have that right, but to give you in ourselves an example to imitate. Not because we have not power, but to make ourselves an ensample unto you to follow us. not because we do not have the right <i>to this,</i> but in order to offer ourselves as a role model for you, so that you would follow our example. We did this, not because we do not have the right to such help, but in order to offer ourselves as a model for you to imitate.
10 For even while we were with you, we gave you this command: “If anyone is unwilling to work, he shall not eat. For even when we were with you, we would give you this command: If anyone is not willing to work, let him not eat. For even when we were with you, this we commanded you, that if any would not work, neither should he eat. For even when we were with you, we used to give you this order: if anyone is not willing to work, then he is not to eat, either. For even when we were with you, we gave you this rule: “The one who is unwilling to work shall not eat.”
11 Yet we hear that some of you are leading undisciplined lives and accomplishing nothing but being busybodies. For we hear that some among you walk in idleness, not busy at work, but busybodies. For we hear that there are some which walk among you disorderly, working not at all, but are busybodies. For we hear that some among you are leading an undisciplined life, doing no work at all, but acting like busybodies. We hear that some among you are idle and disruptive. They are not busy; they are busybodies.
12 We command and urge such people by our Lord Jesus Christ to begin working quietly to earn their own living. Now such persons we command and encourage in the Lord Jesus Christ to do their work quietly and to earn their own living. Now them that are such we command and exhort by our Lord Jesus Christ, that with quietness they work, and eat their own bread. Now we command and exhort such persons in the Lord Jesus Christ to work peacefully and eat their own bread. Such people we command and urge in the Lord Jesus Christ to settle down and earn the food they eat.
13 But as for you, brothers, do not grow weary in well-doing. As for you, brothers, do not grow weary in doing good. But ye, brethren, be not weary in well doing. But as for you, brothers <i>and sisters,</i> do not grow weary of doing good. And as for you, brothers and sisters, never tire of doing what is good.
14 Take note of anyone who does not obey the instructions we have given in this letter. Do not associate with him, so that he may be ashamed. If anyone does not obey what we say in this letter, take note of that person, and have nothing to do with him, that he may be ashamed. And if any man obey not our word by this epistle, note that man, and have no company with him, that he may be ashamed. If anyone does not obey our instruction in this letter, take special note of that person <i>so as</i> not to associate with him, so that he will be put to shame. Take special note of anyone who does not obey our instruction in this letter. Do not associate with them, in order that they may feel ashamed.
15 Yet do not regard him as an enemy, but warn him as a brother. Do not regard him as an enemy, but warn him as a brother. Yet count <i>him</i> not as an enemy, but admonish <i>him</i> as a brother. And <i>yet</i> do not regard <i>that person</i> as an enemy, but admonish <i>that one</i> as a brother <i>or sister.</i> Yet do not regard them as an enemy, but warn them as you would a fellow believer.
16 Now may the Lord of peace Himself give you peace at all times and in every way. The Lord be with all of you. Now may the Lord of peace himself give you peace at all times in every way. 17 This greeting is in my own hand— Paul. This is my mark in every letter; it is the way I write. I, Paul, write this greeting with my own hand.
