1For this reason, I, Paul, the prisoner of Christ Jesus for the sake of you Gentiles... 1Τούτου χάριν ἐγὼ Παῦλος δέσμιος τοῦ Χριστοῦ Ἰησοῦ ὑπὲρ ὑμῶν τῶν ἐθνῶν
2Surely you have heard about the stewardship of God’s grace that was given to me for you, 2Εἴ γε ἠκούσατε τὴν οἰκονομίαν τῆς χάριτος τοῦ Θεοῦ τῆς δοθείσης μοι εἰς ὑμᾶς
3that [is], the mystery made known to me by revelation, as I have already written briefly. 3ὅτι κατὰ ἀποκάλυψιν ἐγνωρίσθη μοι τὸ μυστήριον καθὼς προέγραψα ἐν ὀλίγῳ
4In reading this, then, you will be able to understand my insight into the mystery of Christ, 4πρὸς δύνασθε ἀναγινώσκοντες νοῆσαι τὴν σύνεσίν μου ἐν τῷ μυστηρίῳ τοῦ Χριστοῦ
5which was not made known to men in other generations as it has now been revealed by [the] Spirit to [God’s] holy apostles and prophets. 5 ἑτέραις γενεαῖς οὐκ ἐγνωρίσθη τοῖς υἱοῖς τῶν ἀνθρώπων ὡς νῦν ἀπεκαλύφθη τοῖς ἁγίοις ἀποστόλοις αὐτοῦ καὶ προφήταις ἐν Πνεύματι
6[This mystery is that] through the gospel the Gentiles are fellow heirs, fellow members of the body, and fellow partakers of the promise in Christ Jesus. 6εἶναι τὰ ἔθνη συνκληρονόμα καὶ σύσσωμα καὶ συμμέτοχα τῆς ἐπαγγελίας ἐν Χριστῷ Ἰησοῦ διὰ τοῦ εὐαγγελίου
7I became a servant of [this gospel] by the gift of God’s grace, given me through the working of His power. 7οὗ ἐγενήθην διάκονος κατὰ τὴν δωρεὰν τῆς χάριτος τοῦ Θεοῦ τῆς δοθείσης μοι κατὰ τὴν ἐνέργειαν τῆς δυνάμεως αὐτοῦ
8[Though I am] less than the least of all [the] saints, this grace was given me: to preach to the Gentiles the unsearchable riches of Christ, 8Ἐμοὶ τῷ ἐλαχιστοτέρῳ πάντων ἁγίων ἐδόθη χάρις αὕτη τοῖς ἔθνεσιν εὐαγγελίσασθαι τὸ ἀνεξιχνίαστον πλοῦτος τοῦ Χριστοῦ
9and to illuminate for everyone the stewardship of [this] mystery, which for ages past was hidden in God, who created all things. 9καὶ φωτίσαι ‹πάντας› τίς οἰκονομία τοῦ μυστηρίου τοῦ ἀποκεκρυμμένου ἀπὸ τῶν αἰώνων ἐν τῷ Θεῷ τῷ τὰ πάντα κτίσαντι
10[ His purpose was ] that now, through the church, the manifold wisdom of God should be made known to the rulers and authorities in the heavenly realms, 10ἵνα γνωρισθῇ νῦν ταῖς ἀρχαῖς καὶ ταῖς ἐξουσίαις ἐν τοῖς ἐπουρανίοις διὰ τῆς ἐκκλησίας πολυποίκιλος σοφία τοῦ Θεοῦ
11according to [the] eternal purpose that He accomplished in Christ Jesus our Lord. 11κατὰ πρόθεσιν τῶν αἰώνων ἣν ἐποίησεν ἐν τῷ Χριστῷ Ἰησοῦ τῷ Κυρίῳ ἡμῶν
12In Him [and] through faith in Him we may enter [ God’s ] presence with boldness and confidence. 12ἐν ἔχομεν τὴν παρρησίαν καὶ προσαγωγὴν ἐν πεποιθήσει διὰ τῆς πίστεως αὐτοῦ
13So I ask [you] not to be discouraged because of my sufferings for you, which are your glory. 13Διὸ αἰτοῦμαι μὴ ἐνκακεῖν ἐν ταῖς θλίψεσίν μου ὑπὲρ ὑμῶν ἥτις ἐστὶν δόξα ὑμῶν
14for this reason I bow my knees before the Father, 14Τούτου χάριν κάμπτω τὰ γόνατά μου πρὸς τὸν Πατέρα ⧼τοῦ κυρίου ἡμῶν Ἰησοῦ χριστοῦ⧽
15from whom every family in heaven and on earth derives its name. 15ἐξ οὗ πᾶσα πατριὰ ἐν οὐρανοῖς καὶ ἐπὶ γῆς ὀνομάζεται
16[ I pray ] that out of the riches of His glory He may strengthen you with power through His Spirit in [your] inner being, 16ἵνα δῷ ὑμῖν κατὰ τὸ πλοῦτος τῆς δόξης αὐτοῦ δυνάμει κραταιωθῆναι διὰ τοῦ Πνεύματος αὐτοῦ εἰς τὸν ἔσω ἄνθρωπον
17so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith. [And I pray that] you, being rooted and grounded in love, 17κατοικῆσαι τὸν Χριστὸν διὰ τῆς πίστεως ἐν ταῖς καρδίαις ὑμῶν ἐν ἀγάπῃ ἐρριζωμένοι καὶ τεθεμελιωμένοι
18may have power, together with all the saints, to comprehend the length and width and height and depth [of His love], 18ἵνα ἐξισχύσητε καταλαβέσθαι σὺν πᾶσιν τοῖς ἁγίοις τί τὸ πλάτος καὶ μῆκος καὶ ὕψος καὶ βάθος
19and to know the love of Christ [that] surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled with all the fullness of God. 19γνῶναί τε τὴν ὑπερβάλλουσαν τῆς γνώσεως ἀγάπην τοῦ Χριστοῦ ἵνα πληρωθῆτε εἰς πᾶν τὸ πλήρωμα τοῦ Θεοῦ
20Now to [Him] who is able to do infinitely more than all we ask or imagine, according to [His] power that is at work within us, 20Τῷ δὲ δυναμένῳ ὑπὲρ πάντα ποιῆσαι ὑπερεκπερισσοῦ ὧν αἰτούμεθα νοοῦμεν κατὰ τὴν δύναμιν τὴν ἐνεργουμένην ἐν ἡμῖν
21to Him [be] the glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, forever [and] ever. Amen. 21αὐτῷ δόξα ἐν τῇ ἐκκλησίᾳ καὶ ἐν Χριστῷ Ἰησοῦ εἰς πάσας τὰς γενεὰς τοῦ αἰῶνος τῶν αἰώνων ἀμήν
