God’s Enemies Are Scattered

לַמְנַצֵּ֥חַ (For the one directing). לְדָוִ֗ד (Of David) מִזְמ֥וֹר (a Psalm). שִֽׁיר׃ (A Song).

1יָק֣וּם (Arises) אֱ֭לֹהִים (God), יָפ֣וּצוּ (are scattered) אוֹיְבָ֑יו (His enemies),

וְיָנ֥וּסוּ (and flee) מְ֝שַׂנְאָ֗יו (those hating Him) מִפָּנָֽיו׃ (before His face).

2  כְּהִנְדֹּ֥ף (Like the driving away of) עָשָׁ֗ן (smoke)

תִּ֫נְדֹּ֥ף (you will drive them away);

כְּהִמֵּ֣ס (like the melting of) דּ֭וֹנַג (wax) מִפְּנֵי־ (from the face) אֵ֑שׁ (of the fire),

יֹאבְד֥וּ (will perish) רְ֝שָׁעִ֗ים (the wicked) מִפְּנֵ֥י (before the face) אֱלֹהִֽים׃ (of God).

3  וְֽצַדִּיקִ֗ים (And the righteous) יִשְׂמְח֣וּ (will be glad);

יַֽ֭עַלְצוּ (they will exult) לִפְנֵ֥י (before) אֱלֹהִ֗ים (God)

וְיָשִׂ֥ישׂוּ (and will rejoice) בְשִׂמְחָֽה׃ (exceedingly).

4  שִׁ֤ירוּ׀ (Sing) לֵֽאלֹהִים֮ (to God)!

זַמְּר֪וּ (Sing praises) שְׁ֫מ֥וֹ (to His name)!

סֹ֡לּוּ (Lift up) לָרֹכֵ֣ב (to the One riding) בָּ֭עֲרָבוֹת (on the clouds)—

בְּיָ֥הּ (YAH) שְׁמ֗וֹ (is His name)—

וְעִלְז֥וּ (and rejoice) לְפָנָֽיו׃ (before His face).

5  אֲבִ֣י (A father) יְ֭תוֹמִים (of the fatherless),

וְדַיַּ֣ן (and a defender) אַלְמָנ֑וֹת (of widows),

אֱ֝לֹהִ֗ים (is God) בִּמְע֥וֹן (in the habitation) קָדְשֽׁוֹ׃ (of His holiness).

6  אֱלֹהִ֤ים׀ (God) מ֘וֹשִׁ֤יב (causes to dwell) יְחִידִ֨ים׀ (the solitary) בַּ֗יְתָה (in a home);

מוֹצִ֣יא (He brings out) אֲ֭סִירִים (the prisoners) בַּכּוֹשָׁר֑וֹת (into prosperity),

אַ֥ךְ (but) ס֝וֹרֲרִ֗ים (the rebellious ones) שָׁכְנ֥וּ (have dwelt) צְחִיחָֽה׃ (in a scorched land).

7  אֱ‍ֽלֹהִ֗ים (O God), בְּ֭צֵאתְךָ (in Your going forth) לִפְנֵ֣י (before the face) עַמֶּ֑ךָ (of Your people),

בְּצַעְדְּךָ֖ (in Your marching) בִֽישִׁימ֣וֹן (through the wilderness),

סֶֽלָה׃ (Selah)

8  אֶ֤רֶץ (the earth) רָעָ֨שָׁה׀ (shook), אַף־ (also) שָׁמַ֣יִם (the heavens) נָטְפוּ֮ (poured down)

מִפְּנֵ֪י (before the face) אֱלֹ֫הִ֥ים (of God), זֶ֥ה (the One) סִינַ֑י (of Sinai)

מִפְּנֵ֥י (before the face) אֱ֝לֹהִ֗ים (of God), אֱלֹהֵ֥י (the God) יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃ (of Israel).

9  גֶּ֣שֶׁם (A rain) נְ֭דָבוֹת (of freewill offerings) תָּנִ֣יף (You showered), אֱלֹהִ֑ים (O God).

נַחֲלָתְךָ֥ (Your inheritance)— וְ֝נִלְאָ֗ה (when it was weary)— אַתָּ֥ה (You) כֽוֹנַנְתָּֽהּ׃ (restored it).

10  חַיָּתְךָ֥ (Your community) יָֽשְׁבוּ־ (dwelt) בָ֑הּ (in it);

תָּ֤כִ֥ין (You provided) בְּטוֹבָתְךָ֖ (from Your goodness) לֶעָנִ֣י (for the poor), אֱלֹהִֽים׃ (O God).

11  אֲדֹנָ֥י (The Lord) יִתֶּן־ (gives forth) אֹ֑מֶר (speech);

הַֽ֝מְבַשְּׂר֗וֹת (and those bearing news) צָבָ֥א (army) רָֽב׃ (were a great)):

12  מַלְכֵ֣י (The kings) צְ֭בָאוֹת (of the armies) יִדֹּד֣וּן (they flee) יִדֹּד֑וּן (they flee),

וּנְוַת (and she who dwells) בַּ֝֗יִת (in the house) תְּחַלֵּ֥ק (divides) שָׁלָֽל׃ (the spoil).

13  אִֽם־ (Though) תִּשְׁכְּבוּן֮ (you⁺ lie down) בֵּ֪ין (among) שְׁפַ֫תָּ֥יִם (the sheepfolds),

כַּנְפֵ֣י (the wings) י֭וֹנָה (of the dove) נֶחְפָּ֣ה (are covered) בַכֶּ֑סֶף (with silver),

וְ֝אֶבְרוֹתֶ֗יהָ (and her pinions) בִּֽירַקְרַ֥ק (with yellow) חָרֽוּץ׃ (gold).

14  בְּפָ֘רֵ֤שׂ (When scattered) שַׁדַּ֓י (Shaddai) מְלָ֘כִ֤ים (the kings) בָּ֗הּ (in it),

תַּשְׁלֵ֥ג (it was as the snow) בְּצַלְמֽוֹן׃ (on Zalmon).

15  הַר־ (A mountain) אֱ֭לֹהִים (of God) הַר־ (is Mount) בָּשָׁ֑ן (Bashan);

הַ֥ר (a mountain) גַּ֝בְנֻנִּ֗ים (of peaks) הַר־ (is Mount) בָּשָֽׁן׃ (Bashan).

16  לָ֤מָּה׀ (Why) תְּֽרַצְּדוּן֮ (do you⁺ gaze in envy), הָרִ֪ים (O mountains) גַּבְנֻ֫נִּ֥ים (of peaks)?

הָהָ֗ר (The mountain) חָמַ֣ד (desires) אֱלֹהִ֣ים (God) לְשִׁבְתּ֑וֹ (to dwell on),

אַף־ (indeed), יְ֝הוָ֗ה (YHWH) יִשְׁכֹּ֥ן (will dwell) לָנֶֽצַח׃ (forever).

17  רֶ֤כֶב (The chariots) אֱלֹהִ֗ים (of God) רִבֹּתַ֣יִם (are myriads)—

אַלְפֵ֣י (thousands) שִׁנְאָ֑ן (upon thousands);

אֲדֹנָ֥י (the Lord is) בָ֝֗ם (among them) סִינַ֥י (on Sinai),

בַּקֹּֽדֶשׁ׃ (in the sanctuary).

18  עָ֘לִ֤יתָ (You have gone up) לַמָּר֨וֹם׀ (to the height),

שָׁ֘בִ֤יתָ (You have led captive) שֶּׁ֗בִי (captivity).

לָקַ֣חְתָּ (You have received) מַ֭תָּנוֹת (gifts) בָּאָדָ֑ם (from man),

וְאַ֥ף (even from) ס֝וֹרְרִ֗ים (the rebellious ones),

לִשְׁכֹּ֤ן׀ (that may dwell there) יָ֬הּ (YAH) אֱלֹהִֽים׃ (God).

19  בָּ֤ר֣וּךְ (Blessed be) אֲדֹנָי֮ (the Lord),

י֤וֹם׀ (day) י֥וֹם (by day) יַֽעֲמָס־ (He lifts up) לָ֗נוּ (us)—

הָ֘אֵ֤ל (the God) יְֽשׁוּעָתֵ֬נוּ (of our salvation).

סֶֽלָה׃ (Selah)

20  הָ֤אֵ֣ל׀ (God) לָנוּ֮ (is unto us) אֵ֤ל (a God) לְֽמוֹשָׁ֫ע֥וֹת (of salvation),

וְלֵיהוִ֥ה (and from YHWH) אֲדֹנָ֑י (the Lord is) לַ֝מָּ֗וֶת (from death) תּוֹצָאֽוֹת׃ (our coming forth).

21  אַךְ־ (Surely) אֱלֹהִ֗ים (God) יִמְחַץ֮ (will wound) רֹ֤אשׁ (the head) אֹ֫יְבָ֥יו (of His enemies),

קָדְקֹ֥ד (the crown) שֵׂעָ֑ר (hairy) מִ֝תְהַלֵּ֗ךְ (of the one walking) בַּאֲשָׁמָֽיו׃ (in his guilt).

22  אָמַ֣ר (Said) אֲ֭דֹנָי (the Lord) מִבָּשָׁ֣ן (From Bashan), אָשִׁ֑יב (I will bring them back),

אָ֝שִׁ֗יב (I will bring them back) מִֽמְּצֻל֥וֹת (from the depths) יָֽם׃ (of the sea),

23  לְמַ֤עַן׀ (so that) תִּֽמְחַ֥ץ (you may plunge) רַגְלְךָ֗ (your foot) בְּ֫דָ֥ם (in the blood),

לְשׁ֥וֹן (and the tongue) כְּלָבֶ֑יךָ (of your dogs) מֵאֹיְבִ֥ים (from your enemies) מִנֵּֽהוּ׃ (may have its portion),

24  רָא֣וּ (they have seen) הֲלִיכוֹתֶ֣יךָ (Your going about), אֱלֹהִ֑ים (O God)—

הֲלִ֘יכ֤וֹת (the going about) אֵלִ֖י (of my God), מַלְכִּ֣י (and my King), בַקֹּֽדֶשׁ׃ (in the sanctuary).

25  קִדְּמ֣וּ (While go in front) שָׁ֭רִים (those singing)

אַחַ֣ר (and behind) נֹגְנִ֑ים (those playing strings)

בְּת֥וֹךְ (and in the midst are) עֲ֝לָמ֗וֹת (virgins) תּוֹפֵפֽוֹת׃ (playing timbrels).

26  בְּֽ֭מַקְהֵלוֹת (In the assemblies) בָּרְכ֣וּ (bless) אֱלֹהִ֑ים (God),

יְ֝הוָ֗ה (YHWH), מִמְּק֥וֹר (from the fountain) יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃ (of Israel).

27  שָׁ֤ם (There is) בִּנְיָמִ֨ן׀ (Benjamin) צָעִ֡יר (little), רֹדֵ֗ם (leading them),

שָׂרֵ֣י (with the princes) יְ֭הוּדָה (of Judah) רִגְמָתָ֑ם (in their company),

שָׂרֵ֥י (the princes) זְ֝בֻל֗וּן (of Zebulun), שָׂרֵ֥י (the princes) נַפְתָּלִֽי׃ (of Naphtali).

28  צִוָּ֥ה (Has summoned), אֱלֹהֶ֗יךָ (Your God), עֻ֫זֶּ֥ךָ (your strength);

עוּזָּ֥ה (make strong), אֱלֹהִ֑ים (O God)—

ז֝֗וּ (this which) פָּעַ֥לְתָּ (You have done) לָּֽנוּ׃ (for us).

29  מֵֽ֭הֵיכָלֶךָ (Your temple) עַל־ (is upon) יְרוּשָׁלִָ֑ם (Jerusalem),

לְךָ֤ (to You) יוֹבִ֖ילוּ (will bring) מְלָכִ֣ים (the kings) שָֽׁי׃ (a gift).

30  גְּעַ֨ר (Rebuke) חַיַּ֪ת (the creature) קָנֶ֡ה (of the reed),

עֲדַ֤ת (the herd) אַבִּירִ֨ים׀ (of bulls), בְּעֶגְלֵ֬י (with the calves) עַמִּ֗ים (of the nations),

מִתְרַפֵּ֥ס (those trampling) בְּרַצֵּי־ (the desire for) כָ֑סֶף (silver).

בִּזַּ֥ר (Scatter) עַ֝מִּ֗ים (the nations)— קְרָב֥וֹת (in war) יֶחְפָּֽצוּ׃ (delighting).

31  יֶאֱתָ֣יוּ (Will come) חַ֭שְׁמַנִּים (envoys) מִנִּ֣י (from) מִצְרָ֑יִם (Egypt);

כּ֥וּשׁ (Cush) תָּרִ֥יץ (will make run) יָ֝דָ֗יו (its hands) לֵאלֹהִֽים׃ (to God).

32  מַמְלְכ֣וֹת (O kingdoms) הָ֭אָרֶץ (of the earth), שִׁ֣ירוּ (sing) לֵאלֹהִ֑ים (to God);

זַמְּר֖וּ (sing praises) אֲדֹנָ֣י (to the Lord)—

סֶֽלָה׃ (Selah)

33  לָ֭רֹכֵב (to the one riding) בִּשְׁמֵ֣י (on the heavens) שְׁמֵי־ (the heavens) קֶ֑דֶם (of old);

הֵ֥ן (Behold), יִתֵּ֥ן (He gives forth) בְּ֝קוֹלוֹ (with His voice), ק֣וֹל (a voice) עֹֽז׃ (of power).

34  תְּנ֥וּ (Ascribe) עֹ֗ז (strength) לֵֽאלֹ֫הִ֥ים (to God);

עַֽל־ (for over) יִשְׂרָאֵ֥ל (Israel is) גַּאֲוָת֑וֹ (His majesty),

וְ֝עֻזּ֗וֹ (and His power) בַּשְּׁחָקִֽים׃ (in the clouds).

35  נ֤וֹרָ֥א (You are fearsome), אֱלֹהִ֗ים (O God), מִֽמִּקְדָּ֫שֶׁ֥יךָ (in Your sanctuary);

אֵ֤ל (the God) יִשְׂרָאֵ֗ל (of Israel)

ה֤וּא (is He), נֹתֵ֨ן׀ (giving) עֹ֖ז (power) וְתַעֲצֻמ֥וֹת (and strength) לָעָ֗ם (to the people).

בָּר֥וּךְ (Blessed be) אֱלֹהִֽים׃ (God).
