Τοῦτο
δὲ
γίνωσκε
ὅτι
ἐν
ἐσχάταις
ἡμέραις
ἐνστήσονται
καιροὶ
χαλεποί
But
understand
this:
In
the last
days
terrible
times
will come.
This
know
also,
that
in
the last
days
perilous
times
shall come.
2
ἔσονται
γὰρ
οἱ
ἄνθρωποι
φίλαυτοι
φιλάργυροι
ἀλαζόνες
ὑπερήφανοι
βλάσφημοι
γονεῦσιν
ἀπειθεῖς
ἀχάριστοι
ἀνόσιοι
For
men
will be
lovers of themselves,
lovers of money,
boastful,
arrogant,
abusive,
disobedient
to their parents,
ungrateful,
unholy,
For
men
shall be
lovers of their own selves,
covetous,
boasters,
proud,
blasphemers,
disobedient
to parents,
unthankful,
unholy,
3
ἄστοργοι
ἄσπονδοι
διάβολοι
ἀκρατεῖς
ἀνήμεροι
ἀφιλάγαθοι
unloving,
unforgiving,
slanderous,
without self-control,
brutal,
without love of good,
Without natural affection,
trucebreakers,
false accusers,
incontinent,
fierce,
despisers of those that are good,
4
προδόται
προπετεῖς
τετυφωμένοι
φιλήδονοι
μᾶλλον
ἢ
φιλόθεοι
traitorous,
reckless,
conceited,
lovers of pleasure
rather
than
lovers of God,
Traitors,
heady,
highminded,
lovers of pleasures
more
than
lovers of God;
5
ἔχοντες
μόρφωσιν
εὐσεβείας
τὴν
δὲ
δύναμιν
αὐτῆς
ἠρνημένοι
καὶ
τούτους
ἀποτρέπου
having
a form
of godliness
but
denying
its
power.
Turn away from
such as these!
Having
a form
of godliness,
but
denying
the power
thereof:
from
such
turn away.
6
Ἐκ
τούτων
γάρ

οἱ
ἐνδύνοντες
εἰς
τὰς
οἰκίας
καὶ
αἰχμαλωτίζοντες
γυναικάρια
σεσωρευμένα
ἁμαρτίαις
ἀγόμενα
ἐπιθυμίαις
ποικίλαις
They are
the kind who
worm their way
into
households
and
captivate
vulnerable women
who are weighed down
with sins
and led astray
by various
passions,
For
of
this sort
are they
which creep
into
houses,
and
lead captive
silly women
laden
with sins,
led away
with divers
lusts,
7
πάντοτε
μανθάνοντα
καὶ
μηδέποτε
εἰς
ἐπίγνωσιν
ἀληθείας
ἐλθεῖν
δυνάμενα
who are always
learning
but
never
able
to come
to
a knowledge
of the truth.
Ever
learning,
and
never
able
to come
to
the knowledge
of the truth.

ὃν

δὲ
Ἰάννης

Ἰαμβρῆς

Μωϋσεῖ
οὕτως
καὶ
οὗτοι
ἀνθίστανται
τῇ
ἀληθείᾳ
ἄνθρωποι
κατεφθαρμένοι
τὸν
νοῦν
ἀδόκιμοι
περὶ
τὴν
πίστιν
Just as
Jannes
and
Jambres
opposed
Moses,
so
also
these
men
oppose
the
truth.
They are depraved
in mind
and disqualified
from
the
faith.
<3739> Now
as
Jannes
and
Jambres
withstood
Moses,
so
do
these
also
resist
the truth:
men
of corrupt
minds,
reprobate
concerning
the faith.
9
ἀλλ’

ἡ
γὰρ
ἄνοια
αὐτῶν

ἡ
ἐκείνων
ἐγένετο
But
they will not advance
much
further.
For
just
like
Jannes and Jambres,
their
folly
will be
plain
to everyone.
But
they shall proceed
no
further:
for
their
folly
shall be
manifest
unto all
[men], as
theirs
also
was.

You,
however,
have observed
my
teaching,
my
conduct,
my
purpose,
my
faith,
my
patience,
my
love,
my
perseverance,
But
thou
hast fully known
my
doctrine,
manner of life,

faith,
longsuffering,
charity,
patience,

my
persecutions,
and the
sufferings
that
came upon
me
in
Antioch,
Iconium,
and
Lystra.
What
persecutions
I endured!
Yet
the
Lord
rescued
me
from
all of them.
Persecutions,
afflictions,
which
came
unto me
at
Antioch,
at
Iconium,
at
Lystra;
what
persecutions
I endured:
but
out of
[them] all
the Lord
delivered
me.
12

Indeed,
all
who
desire
to live
godly lives
in
Christ
Jesus
will be persecuted,
Yea,
and
all
that will
live
godly
in
Christ
Jesus
shall suffer persecution.

But
evil
men
and
seducers
shall wax
worse and worse,
deceiving,
and
being deceived.
