| 1 | What causes conflicts and quarrels among you? Don’t they come from the passions at war within you? | What causes quarrels and what causes fights among you? Is it not this, that your passions are at war within you? | From whence <i>come</i> wars and fightings among you? <i>come they</i> not hence, <i>even</i> of your lusts that war in your members? | What is the source of quarrels and conflicts among you? Is the source not your pleasures that wage war in your body’s parts? | What causes fights and quarrels among you? Don’t they come from your desires that battle within you? |
| 2 | You crave what you do not have; you kill and covet, but are unable to obtain it. You quarrel and fight. You do not have, because you do not ask. | You desire and do not have, so you murder. | 6 | But He gives us more grace. This is why it says: “ God opposes the proud, but gives grace to the humble.” | But he gives more grace.
