1After [the] Sabbath, at dawn on [the] first [day] of [the] week, Mary Magdalene and the other Mary went to see the tomb. 1Ὀψὲ δὲ σαββάτων τῇ ἐπιφωσκούσῃ εἰς μίαν σαββάτων ἦλθεν Μαριὰμ ἡ Μαγδαληνὴ καὶ ἡ ἄλλη Μαρία θεωρῆσαι τὸν τάφον
2Suddenly there was a great earthquake, for an angel of [the] Lord descended from heaven, rolled away the stone, and sat on it. 2Καὶ ἰδοὺ σεισμὸς ἐγένετο μέγας ἄγγελος γὰρ Κυρίου καταβὰς ἐξ οὐρανοῦ καὶ προσελθὼν ἀπεκύλισεν τὸν λίθον καὶ ἐκάθητο ἐπάνω αὐτοῦ
3His appearance was like lightning, and his clothing white as snow. 3ἦν δὲ ἡ εἰδέα αὐτοῦ ὡς ἀστραπὴ καὶ τὸ ἔνδυμα αὐτοῦ λευκὸν ὡς χιών
4The guards trembled in fear of him and became like dead [men]. 4ἀπὸ δὲ τοῦ φόβου αὐτοῦ ἐσείσθησαν οἱ τηροῦντες καὶ ἐγενήθησαν ὡς νεκροί
5But the angel said to the women, “{Do} not be afraid, for I know that you are looking for Jesus, who was crucified. 5Ἀποκριθεὶς δὲ ὁ ἄγγελος εἶπεν ταῖς γυναιξίν Μὴ φοβεῖσθε ὑμεῖς οἶδα γὰρ ὅτι Ἰησοῦν τὸν ἐσταυρωμένον ζητεῖτε
6He is not here; He has risen, just as He said! Come, see the place where He lay. 6οὐκ ἔστιν ὧδε ἠγέρθη γὰρ καθὼς εἶπεν δεῦτε ἴδετε τὸν τόπον ὅπου ἔκειτο
7Then go quickly [and] tell His disciples, ‘He has risen from the dead and is going ahead of you into Galilee. There you will see Him.’ See, I have told you.” 7καὶ ταχὺ πορευθεῖσαι εἴπατε τοῖς μαθηταῖς αὐτοῦ ὅτι Ἠγέρθη ἀπὸ τῶν νεκρῶν καὶ ἰδοὺ προάγει ὑμᾶς εἰς τὴν Γαλιλαίαν ἐκεῖ αὐτὸν ὄψεσθε ἰδοὺ εἶπον ὑμῖν
8So they hurried away from the tomb in fear and great joy, [and] ran to tell His disciples. 8Καὶ ἀπελθοῦσαι ταχὺ ἀπὸ τοῦ μνημείου μετὰ φόβου καὶ χαρᾶς μεγάλης ἔδραμον ἀπαγγεῖλαι τοῖς μαθηταῖς αὐτοῦ
9Suddenly Jesus met them [and] said, “Greetings!” They came to [Him], grasped His feet, and worshiped Him. 9⧼Ὡς δὲ ἐπορεύοντο ἀπαγγεῖλαι τοῖς μαθηταῖς αὐτοῦ⧽ καὶ ἰδοὺ Ἰησοῦς ὑπήντησεν αὐταῖς λέγων Χαίρετε αἱ δὲ προσελθοῦσαι ἐκράτησαν αὐτοῦ τοὺς πόδας καὶ προσεκύνησαν αὐτῷ
10“{Do} not be afraid,” said Jesus. “Go, tell My brothers to go to Galilee. There they will see Me.” 10τότε λέγει αὐταῖς ὁ Ἰησοῦς Μὴ φοβεῖσθε ὑπάγετε ἀπαγγείλατε τοῖς ἀδελφοῖς μου ἵνα ἀπέλθωσιν εἰς τὴν Γαλιλαίαν κἀκεῖ με ὄψονται
11While [the women] were on their way, some of the guards went into the city [and] reported to the chief priests all that had happened. 11Πορευομένων δὲ αὐτῶν ἰδού τινες τῆς κουστωδίας ἐλθόντες εἰς τὴν πόλιν ἀπήγγειλαν τοῖς ἀρχιερεῦσιν ἅπαντα τὰ γενόμενα
12After [the chief priests] had met with the elders and formed a plan, they gave the soldiers a large sum of money 12καὶ συναχθέντες μετὰ τῶν πρεσβυτέρων συμβούλιόν τε λαβόντες ἀργύρια ἱκανὰ ἔδωκαν τοῖς στρατιώταις
13[and] instructed them: “You are to say, ‘His disciples came by night [and] stole His [body] {while} we were asleep.’ 13λέγοντες Εἴπατε ὅτι Οἱ μαθηταὶ αὐτοῦ νυκτὸς ἐλθόντες ἔκλεψαν αὐτὸν ἡμῶν κοιμωμένων
14If this [report] reaches the governor, we will satisfy him and keep you out of trouble.” 14καὶ ἐὰν ἀκουσθῇ τοῦτο ἐπὶ τοῦ ἡγεμόνος ἡμεῖς πείσομεν ‹αὐτὸν› καὶ ὑμᾶς ἀμερίμνους ποιήσομεν
15So the [guards] took the money [and] did as they were instructed. And this account has been circulated among [the] Jews to this very day. 15Οἱ δὲ λαβόντες ‹τὰ› ἀργύρια ἐποίησαν ὡς ἐδιδάχθησαν Καὶ διεφημίσθη ὁ λόγος οὗτος παρὰ Ἰουδαίοις μέχρι τῆς σήμερον ἡμέρας
16Meanwhile, the eleven disciples went to Galilee, to the mountain Jesus had designated. 16Οἱ δὲ ἕνδεκα μαθηταὶ ἐπορεύθησαν εἰς τὴν Γαλιλαίαν εἰς τὸ ὄρος οὗ ἐτάξατο αὐτοῖς ὁ Ἰησοῦς
17When they saw Him, they worshiped Him, but some doubted. 17καὶ ἰδόντες αὐτὸν προσεκύνησαν οἱ δὲ ἐδίστασαν
18Then Jesus came to them [and] said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to Me. 18Καὶ προσελθὼν ὁ Ἰησοῦς ἐλάλησεν αὐτοῖς λέγων Ἐδόθη μοι πᾶσα ἐξουσία ἐν οὐρανῷ καὶ ἐπὶ τῆς γῆς
19Therefore go [and] make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, 19πορευθέντες οὖν μαθητεύσατε πάντα τὰ ἔθνη βαπτίζοντες αὐτοὺς εἰς τὸ ὄνομα τοῦ Πατρὸς καὶ τοῦ Υἱοῦ καὶ τοῦ Ἁγίου Πνεύματος
20[and] teaching them to obey all that I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” 20διδάσκοντες αὐτοὺς τηρεῖν πάντα ὅσα ἐνετειλάμην ὑμῖν καὶ ἰδοὺ ἐγὼ μεθ’ ὑμῶν εἰμι πάσας τὰς ἡμέρας ἕως τῆς συντελείας τοῦ αἰῶνος
