Οἴδαμεν
γὰρ
ὅτι
ἐὰν
ἡ
ἐπίγειος
ἡμῶν
οἰκία
τοῦ
σκήνους
καταλυθῇ
οἰκοδομὴν
ἐκ
Θεοῦ
ἔχομεν
οἰκίαν
ἀχειροποίητον
αἰώνιον
ἐν
τοῖς
οὐρανοῖς
Now
we know
that
if
the
earthly
tent
we
live in
is dismantled,
we have
a building
from
God,
an eternal
house
in
heaven,
not built by human hands.
For
we know
that
if
our
earthly
house
of [this] tabernacle
were dissolved,
we have
a building
of
God,
an house
not made with hands,
eternal
in
the heavens.
2
καὶ
γὰρ
ἐν
τούτῳ
στενάζομεν
τὸ
οἰκητήριον
ἡμῶν
τὸ
ἐξ
οὐρανοῦ
ἐπενδύσασθαι
ἐπιποθοῦντες
For
in
this tent
we groan,
longing
to be clothed with
our
heavenly
dwelling,
For
in
this
we groan,
earnestly desiring
to be clothed upon
with our
house
which
is from
heaven:
3
εἴ
γε
καὶ
ἐνδυσάμενοι
οὐ
γυμνοὶ
εὑρεθησόμεθα
because
when we are clothed,
we will not be found
naked.
If
so
be that being clothed
we shall
not
be found
naked.
4
καὶ
γὰρ
οἱ
ὄντες
ἐν
τῷ
σκήνει
στενάζομεν
βαρούμενοι
ἐφ’
ᾧ
οὐ
θέλομεν
ἐκδύσασθαι
ἀλλ’
ἐπενδύσασθαι
ἵνα
καταποθῇ
τὸ
θνητὸν
ὑπὸ
τῆς
ζωῆς
So
while we are
in
this
tent,
we groan
under our burdens,
because
we do not wish
to be unclothed
but
clothed,
so that
our
mortality
may be swallowed up
by
life.
For
we that are
in
[this] tabernacle
do groan,
being burdened:
not
for that
we would
be unclothed,
but
clothed upon,
that
mortality
might be swallowed up
of
life.
5
ὁ
δὲ
κατεργασάμενος
ἡμᾶς
εἰς
αὐτὸ
τοῦτο
Θεός
ὁ
δοὺς
ἡμῖν
τὸν
ἀρραβῶνα
τοῦ
Πνεύματος
And
God
has prepared
us
for
this
very purpose
and has given
us
the
Spirit
as a pledge of what is to come.
Now
he that hath wrought
us
for
the selfsame thing
[is] God,
who
also
hath given
unto us
the earnest
of the Spirit.
6
Θαρροῦντες
οὖν
πάντοτε
καὶ
εἰδότες
ὅτι
ἐνδημοῦντες
ἐν
τῷ
σώματι
ἐκδημοῦμεν
ἀπὸ
τοῦ
Κυρίου
Therefore
we are always confident,
although
we know
that
while we are at home
in
the
body,
we are away
from
the
Lord.
Therefore
[we are] always
confident,
knowing
that,
whilst we are at home
in
the body,
we are absent
from
the Lord:
7
διὰ
πίστεως
γὰρ
περιπατοῦμεν
οὐ
διὰ
εἴδους
For
we walk
by
faith,
not
by
sight.
(For
we walk
by
faith,
not
by
sight:
)
8
Θαρροῦμεν
δὲ
καὶ
εὐδοκοῦμεν
μᾶλλον
ἐκδημῆσαι
ἐκ
τοῦ
σώματος
καὶ
ἐνδημῆσαι
πρὸς
τὸν
Κύριον
We are confident,
then,
and
would prefer
to be away
from
the
body
and
at home
with
the
Lord.
We are confident,
[I say], and
willing
rather
to be absent
from
the body,
and
to be present
with
the Lord.
9
διὸ
καὶ
φιλοτιμούμεθα
εἴτε
ἐνδημοῦντες
εἴτε
ἐκδημοῦντες
εὐάρεστοι
αὐτῷ
εἶναι
So
we aspire
to
please
Him,
whether
we are here in this body
or
away from it.
Wherefore
we labour,
that,
whether
present
or
absent,
we may be
accepted
of him.
10
τοὺς
γὰρ
πάντας
ἡμᾶς
φανερωθῆναι
δεῖ
ἔμπροσθεν
τοῦ
βήματος
τοῦ
Χριστοῦ
ἵνα
κομίσηται
ἕκαστος
τὰ
διὰ
τοῦ
σώματος
πρὸς
ἃ
ἔπραξεν
εἴτε
ἀγαθὸν
εἴτε
φαῦλον
For
we
must
all
appear
before
the
judgment seat
of Christ,
that
each one
may receive his due
for
the things
done
in
the
body,
whether
good
or
bad.
For
we
must
all
appear
before
the judgment seat
of Christ;
that
every one
may receive
the things [done] in
[his] body,
according
to that
he hath done,
whether
[it be] good
or
bad.
11
Εἰδότες
οὖν
τὸν
φόβον
τοῦ
Κυρίου
ἀνθρώπους
πείθομεν
Θεῷ
δὲ
πεφανερώμεθα
ἐλπίζω
δὲ
καὶ
ἐν
ταῖς
συνειδήσεσιν
ὑμῶν
πεφανερῶσθαι
Therefore,
since we know
what it means
to fear
the
Lord,
we try to persuade
men.
What we are is clear
to God,
and
I hope
it is clear
to
your
conscience
as well.
Knowing
therefore
the terror
of the Lord,
we persuade
men;
but
we are made manifest
unto God;
and
I trust
also
are made manifest
in
your
consciences.
12
οὐ
πάλιν
ἑαυτοὺς
συνιστάνομεν
ὑμῖν
ἀλλὰ
ἀφορμὴν
διδόντες
ὑμῖν
καυχήματος
ὑπὲρ
ἡμῶν
ἵνα
ἔχητε
πρὸς
τοὺς
ἐν
προσώπῳ
καυχωμένους
καὶ
μὴ
ἐν
καρδίᾳ
We are not commending
ourselves
to you
again.
Instead,
we are giving
you
an occasion
to be proud
of
us,
so that
you can answer
those who
take pride
in
appearances
rather than
in
the heart.
For
we commend
not
ourselves
again
unto you,
but
give
you
occasion
to glory
on
our
behalf,
that
ye may have
somewhat to
[answer] them which glory
in
appearance,
and
not
in heart.
13
Εἴτε
γὰρ
ἐξέστημεν
Θεῷ
εἴτε
σωφρονοῦμεν
ὑμῖν
If
we are out of our mind,
it is for God;
if
we are of sound mind,
it is for you.
For
whether
we be beside ourselves,
[it is] to God:
or whether
we be sober,
[it is] for your cause.
14
ἡ
γὰρ
ἀγάπη
τοῦ
Χριστοῦ
συνέχει
ἡμᾶς
κρίναντας
τοῦτο
ὅτι
εἷς
ὑπὲρ
πάντων
ἀπέθανεν
ἄρα
οἱ
πάντες
ἀπέθανον
For
Christ’s
love
compels
us,
because we are convinced
that
One
died
for
all,
therefore
all
died.
For
the love
of Christ
constraineth
us;
because we thus
judge,
that
if
one
died
for
all,
then
were
all
dead:
15
καὶ
ὑπὲρ
πάντων
ἀπέθανεν
ἵνα
οἱ
ζῶντες
μηκέτι
ἑαυτοῖς
ζῶσιν
ἀλλὰ
τῷ
ὑπὲρ
αὐτῶν
ἀποθανόντι
καὶ
ἐγερθέντι
And
He died
for
all,
that
those who
live
should no longer
live
for themselves,
but
for Him who
died
for
them
and
was raised again.
And
[that] he died
for
all,
that
they which live
should
not henceforth
live
unto themselves,
but
unto him which died
for
them,
and
rose again.
16
Ὥστε
ἡμεῖς
ἀπὸ
τοῦ
νῦν
οὐδένα
οἴδαμεν
κατὰ
σάρκα
εἰ
καὶ
ἐγνώκαμεν
κατὰ
σάρκα
Χριστόν
ἀλλὰ
νῦν
οὐκέτι
γινώσκομεν
So
from
now on
we
regard
no one
according to
the flesh.
Although
we once regarded
Christ
in this way,
we do so
no longer.
Wherefore
henceforth
know
we
no man
after
the flesh:
yea,
though
we have known
Christ
after
the flesh,
yet
now
henceforth
know we
[him] no more.
17
ὥστε
εἴ
τις
ἐν
Χριστῷ
καινὴ
κτίσις
τὰ
ἀρχαῖα
παρῆλθεν
ἰδοὺ
γέγονεν
καινά
Therefore
if
anyone
is in
Christ,
he is a new
creation.
The
old
has passed away.
Behold,
the new
has come!
Therefore
if any man
[be] in
Christ,
[he is] a new
creature:
old things
are passed away;
behold,
all things
are become
new.
18
Τὰ
δὲ
πάντα
ἐκ
τοῦ
Θεοῦ
τοῦ
καταλλάξαντος
ἡμᾶς
ἑαυτῷ
διὰ
Χριστοῦ
καὶ
δόντος
ἡμῖν
τὴν
διακονίαν
τῆς
καταλλαγῆς
All this is
from
God,
who
reconciled
us
to Himself
through
Christ
and
gave
us
the
ministry
of reconciliation:
And
all things
[are] of
God,
who
hath reconciled
us
to himself
by
Jesus
Christ,
and
hath given
to us
the ministry
of reconciliation;
19
ὡς
ὅτι
Θεὸς
ἦν
ἐν
Χριστῷ
κόσμον
καταλλάσσων
ἑαυτῷ
μὴ
λογιζόμενος
αὐτοῖς
τὰ
παραπτώματα
αὐτῶν
καὶ
θέμενος
ἐν
ἡμῖν
τὸν
λόγον
τῆς
καταλλαγῆς
that
God
was
reconciling
the world
to Himself
in
Christ,
not
counting
men’s
trespasses
against them.
And
He has committed
to
us
the
message
of reconciliation.
To wit,
that
God
was
in
Christ,
reconciling
the world
unto himself,
not
imputing
their
trespasses
unto them;
and
hath committed
unto
us
the word
of reconciliation.
20
Ὑπὲρ
Χριστοῦ
οὖν
πρεσβεύομεν
ὡς
τοῦ
Θεοῦ
παρακαλοῦντος
δι’
ἡμῶν
δεόμεθα
ὑπὲρ
Χριστοῦ
καταλλάγητε
τῷ
Θεῷ
Therefore
we are ambassadors
for
Christ,
as though
God
were making His appeal
through
us.
We implore you
on behalf
of Christ:
Be reconciled
to God.
Now then
we are ambassadors
for
Christ,
as though
God
did beseech
[you] by
us:
we pray
[you] in
Christ's
stead,
be ye reconciled
to God.
21

ἐν
αὐτῷ
God made
Him who
knew
no
sin
to be sin
on our behalf,
so that
in
Him
we
might become
the righteousness
of God.
For
he hath made
him [to be] sin
for
us,
who
knew
no
sin;
that
we
might be made
the righteousness
of God
in
him.
