It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not be encumbered once more by a yoke of slavery.1Τῇ ἐλευθερίᾳ ἡμᾶς Χριστὸς ἠλευθέρωσεν στήκετε οὖν καὶ μὴ πάλιν ζυγῷ δουλείας ἐνέχεσθε
Take notice: I, Paul, tell you that if you let yourselves be circumcised, Christ will be of no value to you at all.2Ἴδε ἐγὼ Παῦλος λέγω ὑμῖν ὅτι ἐὰν περιτέμνησθε Χριστὸς ὑμᾶς οὐδὲν ὠφελήσει
Again I testify to every man who gets himself circumcised that he is obligated to obey the whole law.3μαρτύρομαι δὲ πάλιν παντὶ ἀνθρώπῳ περιτεμνομένῳ ὅτι ὀφειλέτης ἐστὶν ὅλον τὸν νόμον ποιῆσαι
You who are trying to be justified by the law have been severed from Christ; you have fallen away from grace.4κατηργήθητε ἀπὸ Χριστοῦ οἵτινες ἐν νόμῳ δικαιοῦσθε τῆς χάριτος ἐξεπέσατε
But by faith we eagerly await through the Spirit the hope of righteousness.5Ἡμεῖς γὰρ Πνεύματι ἐκ πίστεως ἐλπίδα δικαιοσύνης ἀπεκδεχόμεθα
For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision nor uncircumcision has any value. All that matters is faith, expressed through love.6ἐν γὰρ Χριστῷ Ἰησοῦ οὔτε περιτομή τι ἰσχύει οὔτε ἀκροβυστία ἀλλὰ πίστις δι’ ἀγάπης ἐνεργουμένη
You were running so well. Who has obstructed you from obeying the truth?7Ἐτρέχετε καλῶς τίς ὑμᾶς ἐνέκοψεν ‹τῇ› ἀληθείᾳ μὴ πείθεσθαι
Such persuasion does not come from the One who calls you.8 πεισμονὴ οὐκ ἐκ τοῦ καλοῦντος ὑμᾶς
A little leaven works through the whole batch of dough.9μικρὰ ζύμη ὅλον τὸ φύραμα ζυμοῖ
I am confident in the Lord that you will take no other view. The one who is troubling you will bear the judgment, whoever he may be.10ἐγὼ πέποιθα εἰς ὑμᾶς ἐν Κυρίῳ ὅτι οὐδὲν ἄλλο φρονήσετε δὲ ταράσσων ὑμᾶς βαστάσει τὸ κρίμα ὅστις ἐὰν
Now, brothers, if I am still preaching circumcision, why am I still being persecuted? In that case the offense of the cross has been abolished.11Ἐγὼ δέ ἀδελφοί εἰ περιτομὴν ἔτι κηρύσσω τί ἔτι διώκομαι ἄρα κατήργηται τὸ σκάνδαλον τοῦ σταυροῦ
As for those who are agitating you, I wish they would proceed to emasculate themselves!12Ὄφελον καὶ ἀποκόψονται οἱ ἀναστατοῦντες ὑμᾶς
For you, brothers, were called to freedom; but do not use your freedom as an opportunity for the flesh.
The entire law is fulfilled in a single decree: “Love your neighbor as yourself.”14 γὰρ πᾶς νόμος ἐν ἑνὶ λόγῳ πεπλήρωται ἐν τῷ Ἀγαπήσεις τὸν πλησίον σου ὡς σεαυτόν
But if you keep on biting and devouring one another, watch out, or you will be consumed by one another.15εἰ δὲ ἀλλήλους δάκνετε καὶ κατεσθίετε βλέπετε μὴ ὑπ’ ἀλλήλων ἀναλωθῆτε
So I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh.16Λέγω δέ Πνεύματι περιπατεῖτε καὶ ἐπιθυμίαν σαρκὸς οὐ μὴ τελέσητε
For the flesh craves what is contrary to the Spirit, and the Spirit what is contrary to the flesh. They are opposed to each other, so that you do not do what you want.17 γὰρ σὰρξ ἐπιθυμεῖ κατὰ τοῦ Πνεύματος τὸ δὲ Πνεῦμα κατὰ τῆς σαρκός ταῦτα γὰρ ἀλλήλοις ἀντίκειται ἵνα μὴ ἐὰν θέλητε ταῦτα ποιῆτε
But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the law.18εἰ δὲ Πνεύματι ἄγεσθε οὐκ ἐστὲ ὑπὸ νόμον
The acts of the flesh are obvious: sexual immorality, impurity, and debauchery;19Φανερὰ δέ ἐστιν τὰ ἔργα τῆς σαρκός ἅτινά ἐστιν πορνεία ἀκαθαρσία ἀσέλγεια
idolatry and sorcery; hatred, discord, jealousy, and rage; rivalries, divisions, factions,20εἰδωλολατρία φαρμακεία ἔχθραι ἔρις ζῆλος θυμοί ἐριθεῖαι διχοστασίαι αἱρέσεις
and envy; drunkenness, orgies, and the like. I warn you, as I did before, that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.21φθόνοι μέθαι κῶμοι καὶ τὰ ὅμοια τούτοις προλέγω ὑμῖν καθὼς προεῖπον ὅτι οἱ τὰ τοιαῦτα πράσσοντες βασιλείαν Θεοῦ οὐ κληρονομήσουσιν
But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness,22 δὲ καρπὸς τοῦ Πνεύματός ἐστιν ἀγάπη χαρά εἰρήνη μακροθυμία χρηστότης ἀγαθωσύνη πίστις
gentleness, and self-control. Against such things there is no law.23πραΰτης ἐγκράτεια κατὰ τῶν τοιούτων οὐκ ἔστιν νόμος
Those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires.24Οἱ δὲ τοῦ Χριστοῦ Ἰησοῦ τὴν σάρκα ἐσταύρωσαν σὺν τοῖς παθήμασιν καὶ ταῖς ἐπιθυμίαις
Since we live by the Spirit, let us walk in step with the Spirit.25Εἰ ζῶμεν Πνεύματι Πνεύματι καὶ στοιχῶμεν
Let us not become conceited, provoking and envying one another.26μὴ γινώμεθα κενόδοξοι ἀλλήλους προκαλούμενοι ἀλλήλοις φθονοῦντες
