Be ye therefore followers of God, as dear children;1Γίνεσθε οὖν μιμηταὶ τοῦ Θεοῦ ὡς τέκνα ἀγαπητά
And walk in love, as Christ also hath loved us, and hath given himself for us an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweetsmelling savour.2καὶ περιπατεῖτε ἐν ἀγάπῃ καθὼς καὶ Χριστὸς ἠγάπησεν ἡμᾶς* καὶ παρέδωκεν ἑαυτὸν ὑπὲρ ἡμῶν προσφορὰν καὶ θυσίαν τῷ Θεῷ εἰς ὀσμὴν εὐωδίας
But fornication, and all uncleanness, or covetousness, let it not be once named among you, as becometh saints;3Πορνεία δὲ καὶ ἀκαθαρσία πᾶσα πλεονεξία μηδὲ ὀνομαζέσθω ἐν ὑμῖν καθὼς πρέπει ἁγίοις
Neither filthiness, nor foolish talking, nor jesting, which are not convenient: but rather giving of thanks.4καὶ αἰσχρότης καὶ μωρολογία εὐτραπελία οὐκ ἀνῆκεν ἀλλὰ μᾶλλον εὐχαριστία
For this ye know, that no whoremonger, nor unclean person, nor covetous man, who is an idolater, hath any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God.5τοῦτο γὰρ ἴστε γινώσκοντες ὅτι πᾶς πόρνος ἀκάθαρτος πλεονέκτης ἐστιν εἰδωλολάτρης οὐκ ἔχει κληρονομίαν ἐν τῇ βασιλείᾳ τοῦ Χριστοῦ καὶ Θεοῦ
Let no man deceive you with vain words: for because of these things cometh the wrath of God upon the children of disobedience.6Μηδεὶς ὑμᾶς ἀπατάτω κενοῖς λόγοις διὰ ταῦτα γὰρ ἔρχεται ὀργὴ τοῦ Θεοῦ ἐπὶ τοὺς υἱοὺς τῆς ἀπειθείας
Be not ye therefore partakers with them.7μὴ οὖν γίνεσθε συμμέτοχοι αὐτῶν
For ye were sometimes darkness, but now are ye light in the Lord: walk as children of light:8Ἦτε γάρ ποτε σκότος νῦν δὲ φῶς ἐν Κυρίῳ ὡς τέκνα φωτὸς περιπατεῖτε
(For the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness and righteousness and truth;)9 γὰρ καρπὸς τοῦ φωτὸς ἐν πάσῃ ἀγαθωσύνῃ καὶ δικαιοσύνῃ καὶ ἀληθείᾳ
Proving what is acceptable unto the Lord.10δοκιμάζοντες τί ἐστιν εὐάρεστον τῷ Κυρίῳ
And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them.11Καὶ μὴ συνκοινωνεῖτε τοῖς ἔργοις τοῖς ἀκάρποις τοῦ σκότους μᾶλλον δὲ καὶ ἐλέγχετε
For it is a shame even to speak of those things which are done of them in secret.12τὰ γὰρ κρυφῇ γινόμενα ὑπ’ αὐτῶν αἰσχρόν ἐστιν καὶ λέγειν
But all things that are reproved are made manifest by the light: for whatsoever doth make manifest is light.13τὰ δὲ πάντα ἐλεγχόμενα ὑπὸ τοῦ φωτὸς φανεροῦται πᾶν γὰρ τὸ φανερούμενον φῶς ἐστιν
Wherefore he saith, Awake thou that sleepest, and arise from the dead, and Christ shall give thee light.14διὸ λέγει Ἔγειρε καθεύδων καὶ ἀνάστα ἐκ τῶν νεκρῶν καὶ ἐπιφαύσει σοι Χριστός
See then that ye walk circumspectly, not as fools, but as wise,15Βλέπετε οὖν ἀκριβῶς πῶς περιπατεῖτε μὴ ὡς ἄσοφοι ἀλλ’ ὡς σοφοί
Redeeming the time, because the days are evil.16ἐξαγοραζόμενοι τὸν καιρόν ὅτι αἱ ἡμέραι πονηραί εἰσιν
Wherefore be ye not unwise, but understanding what the will of the Lord is.17διὰ τοῦτο μὴ γίνεσθε ἄφρονες ἀλλὰ συνίετε τί τὸ θέλημα τοῦ Κυρίου
And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit;18καὶ μὴ μεθύσκεσθε οἴνῳ ἐν ἐστιν ἀσωτία ἀλλὰ πληροῦσθε ἐν Πνεύματι
Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord;19λαλοῦντες ἑαυτοῖς [ἐν] ψαλμοῖς καὶ ὕμνοις καὶ ᾠδαῖς πνευματικαῖς ᾄδοντες καὶ ψάλλοντες τῇ καρδίᾳ ὑμῶν τῷ Κυρίῳ
Giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ;20εὐχαριστοῦντες πάντοτε ὑπὲρ πάντων ἐν ὀνόματι τοῦ Κυρίου ἡμῶν Ἰησοῦ Χριστοῦ τῷ Θεῷ καὶ Πατρί
Submitting yourselves one to another in the fear of God.21Ὑποτασσόμενοι ἀλλήλοις ἐν φόβῳ Χριστοῦ
Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as unto the Lord.22Αἱ γυναῖκες τοῖς ἰδίοις ἀνδράσιν ὡς τῷ Κυρίῳ
For the husband is the head of the wife, even as Christ is the head of the church: and he is the saviour of the body.23ὅτι ἀνήρ ἐστιν κεφαλὴ τῆς γυναικὸς ὡς καὶ Χριστὸς κεφαλὴ τῆς ἐκκλησίας αὐτὸς σωτὴρ τοῦ σώματος
Therefore as the church is subject unto Christ, so let the wives be to their own husbands in every thing.24ἀλλὰ ὡς ἐκκλησία ὑποτάσσεται τῷ Χριστῷ οὕτως καὶ αἱ γυναῖκες τοῖς ἀνδράσιν ἐν παντί
Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it;25Οἱ ἄνδρες ἀγαπᾶτε τὰς γυναῖκας καθὼς καὶ Χριστὸς ἠγάπησεν τὴν ἐκκλησίαν καὶ ἑαυτὸν παρέδωκεν ὑπὲρ αὐτῆς
That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word,26ἵνα αὐτὴν ἁγιάσῃ καθαρίσας τῷ λουτρῷ τοῦ ὕδατος ἐν ῥήματι
That he might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish.27ἵνα παραστήσῃ αὐτὸς ἑαυτῷ ἔνδοξον τὴν ἐκκλησίαν μὴ ἔχουσαν σπίλον ῥυτίδα τι τῶν τοιούτων ἀλλ’ ἵνα ἁγία καὶ ἄμωμος
So ought men to love their wives as their own bodies. He that loveth his wife loveth himself.28Οὕτως ὀφείλουσιν καὶ οἱ ἄνδρες ἀγαπᾶν τὰς ἑαυτῶν γυναῖκας ὡς τὰ ἑαυτῶν σώματα ἀγαπῶν τὴν ἑαυτοῦ γυναῖκα ἑαυτὸν ἀγαπᾷ
For no man ever yet hated his own flesh; but nourisheth and cherisheth it, even as the Lord the church:29οὐδεὶς γάρ ποτε τὴν ἑαυτοῦ σάρκα ἐμίσησεν ἀλλὰ ἐκτρέφει καὶ θάλπει αὐτήν καθὼς καὶ Χριστὸς τὴν ἐκκλησίαν
For we are members of his body, of his flesh, and of his bones.30ὅτι μέλη ἐσμὲν τοῦ σώματος αὐτοῦ ⧼ἐκ τῆς σαρκὸς αὐτοῦ καὶ ἐκ τῶν ὀστέων αὐτοῦ⧽
For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and shall be joined unto his wife, and they two shall be one flesh.31Ἀντὶ τούτου καταλείψει ἄνθρωπος τὸν πατέρα καὶ τὴν μητέρα καὶ προσκολληθήσεται πρὸς τὴν γυναῖκα αὐτοῦ καὶ ἔσονται οἱ δύο εἰς σάρκα μίαν
This is a great mystery: but I speak concerning Christ and the church.32τὸ μυστήριον τοῦτο μέγα ἐστίν ἐγὼ δὲ λέγω εἰς Χριστὸν καὶ εἰς τὴν ἐκκλησίαν
Nevertheless let every one of you in particular so love his wife even as himself; and the wife see that she reverence her husband.33πλὴν καὶ ὑμεῖς οἱ καθ’ ἕνα ἕκαστος τὴν ἑαυτοῦ γυναῖκα οὕτως ἀγαπάτω ὡς ἑαυτόν δὲ γυνὴ ἵνα φοβῆται τὸν ἄνδρα
