1From: Paul—an apostle not sent from men or by a man, but by Jesus the Messiah, and God the Father, who raised him from the dead—

1Παῦλος ἀπόστολος οὐκ ἀπ’ ἀνθρώπων οὐδὲ δι’ ἀνθρώπου ἀλλὰ διὰ Ἰησοῦ Χριστοῦ καὶ Θεοῦ Πατρὸς τοῦ ἐγείραντος αὐτὸν ἐκ νεκρῶν

2and all the brothers who are with me. To: The churches in Galatia.

2καὶ οἱ σὺν ἐμοὶ πάντες ἀδελφοί Ταῖς ἐκκλησίαις τῆς Γαλατίας

3May grace and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus, the Messiah, be yours!

3Χάρις ὑμῖν καὶ εἰρήνη ἀπὸ Θεοῦ Πατρὸς ἡμῶν «καὶ Κυρίου» Ἰησοῦ Χριστοῦ

4He gave himself for our sins in order to rescue us from this present evil age according to the will of our God and Father.

4τοῦ δόντος ἑαυτὸν ὑπὲρ τῶν ἁμαρτιῶν ἡμῶν ὅπως ἐξέληται ἡμᾶς ἐκ τοῦ αἰῶνος τοῦ ἐνεστῶτος πονηροῦ κατὰ τὸ θέλημα τοῦ Θεοῦ καὶ Πατρὸς ἡμῶν

5To him be the glory forever and ever! Amen.

5ᾧ ἡ δόξα εἰς τοὺς αἰῶνας τῶν αἰώνων ἀμήν

6I am astonished that you are so quickly deserting the one who called you by the grace of the Messiah and, instead, are following a different gospel,

6Θαυμάζω ὅτι οὕτως ταχέως μετατίθεσθε ἀπὸ τοῦ καλέσαντος ὑμᾶς ἐν χάριτι Χριστοῦ εἰς ἕτερον εὐαγγέλιον

7not that another one really exists. To be sure, there are certain people who are troubling you and want to distort the gospel about the Messiah.

7ὃ οὐκ ἔστιν ἄλλο εἰ μή τινές εἰσιν οἱ ταράσσοντες ὑμᾶς καὶ θέλοντες μεταστρέψαι τὸ εὐαγγέλιον τοῦ Χριστοῦ

8But even if we or an angel from heaven should proclaim to you a gospel contrary to what we proclaimed to you, let that person be condemned!

8Ἀλλὰ καὶ ἐὰν ἡμεῖς ἢ ἄγγελος ἐξ οὐρανοῦ εὐαγγελίζηται* ὑμῖν παρ’ ὃ εὐηγγελισάμεθα ὑμῖν ἀνάθεμα ἔστω

9What we have told you in the past I am now telling you again: If anyone proclaims to you a gospel contrary to what you received, let that person be condemned!

9ὡς προειρήκαμεν καὶ ἄρτι πάλιν λέγω εἴ τις ὑμᾶς εὐαγγελίζεται παρ’ ὃ παρελάβετε ἀνάθεμα ἔστω

10Am I now trying to win the approval of people or of God? Or am I trying to please people? If I were still trying to please people, I would not be the Messiah's servant.

10Ἄρτι γὰρ ἀνθρώπους πείθω ἢ τὸν Θεόν ἢ ζητῶ ἀνθρώποις ἀρέσκειν εἰ ἔτι ἀνθρώποις ἤρεσκον Χριστοῦ δοῦλος οὐκ ἂν ἤμην

11For I want you to know, brothers, that the gospel that was proclaimed by me is not of human origin.

11γνωρίζω γὰρ ὑμῖν ἀδελφοί τὸ εὐαγγέλιον τὸ εὐαγγελισθὲν ὑπ’ ἐμοῦ ὅτι οὐκ ἔστιν κατὰ ἄνθρωπον

12For I did not receive it from a man, nor was I taught it, but it was revealed to me by Jesus the Messiah.

12οὐδὲ γὰρ ἐγὼ παρὰ ἀνθρώπου παρέλαβον αὐτό οὔτε ἐδιδάχθην ἀλλὰ δι’ ἀποκαλύψεως Ἰησοῦ Χριστοῦ

13For you have heard about my earlier life in Judaism—how I kept violently persecuting God's church and was trying to destroy it.

13Ἠκούσατε γὰρ τὴν ἐμὴν ἀναστροφήν ποτε ἐν τῷ Ἰουδαϊσμῷ ὅτι καθ’ ὑπερβολὴν ἐδίωκον τὴν ἐκκλησίαν τοῦ Θεοῦ καὶ ἐπόρθουν αὐτήν

14I advanced in Judaism beyond many of my contemporaries, because I was far more zealous for the traditions of my ancestors.

14καὶ προέκοπτον ἐν τῷ Ἰουδαϊσμῷ ὑπὲρ πολλοὺς συνηλικιώτας ἐν τῷ γένει μου περισσοτέρως ζηλωτὴς ὑπάρχων τῶν πατρικῶν μου παραδόσεων

15But when God, who set me apart before I was born and who called me by his grace, was pleased

15Ὅτε δὲ εὐδόκησεν [ὁ θεὸς] ὁ ἀφορίσας με ἐκ κοιλίας μητρός μου καὶ καλέσας διὰ τῆς χάριτος αὐτοῦ

16to reveal his Son to me so that I might proclaim him among the gentiles, I did not confer with another human being at any time,

16ἀποκαλύψαι τὸν Υἱὸν αὐτοῦ ἐν ἐμοὶ ἵνα εὐαγγελίζωμαι αὐτὸν ἐν τοῖς ἔθνεσιν εὐθέως οὐ προσανεθέμην σαρκὶ καὶ αἵματι

17nor did I go up to Jerusalem to see those who were apostles before me. Instead, I went away to Arabia and then came back to Damascus.

17οὐδὲ ἀνῆλθον εἰς Ἱεροσόλυμα πρὸς τοὺς πρὸ ἐμοῦ ἀποστόλους ἀλλὰ ἀπῆλθον εἰς Ἀραβίαν καὶ πάλιν ὑπέστρεψα εἰς Δαμασκόν

18Then three years later, I went up to Jerusalem to become acquainted with Cephas, and I stayed with him for fifteen days.

18Ἔπειτα μετὰ τρία ἔτη ἀνῆλθον εἰς Ἱεροσόλυμα ἱστορῆσαι Κηφᾶν καὶ ἐπέμεινα πρὸς αὐτὸν ἡμέρας δεκαπέντε

19But I did not see any other apostle except James, the Lord's brother.

19ἕτερον δὲ τῶν ἀποστόλων οὐκ εἶδον εἰ μὴ Ἰάκωβον τὸν ἀδελφὸν τοῦ Κυρίου

20(Before God, what I'm writing to you is the truth.)

20ἃ δὲ γράφω ὑμῖν ἰδοὺ ἐνώπιον τοῦ Θεοῦ ὅτι οὐ ψεύδομαι

21Then I went to the regions of Syria and Cilicia.

21Ἔπειτα ἦλθον εἰς τὰ κλίματα τῆς Συρίας καὶ τῆς Κιλικίας

22But the churches of the Messiah that are in Judea did not yet know me personally.

22ἤμην δὲ ἀγνοούμενος τῷ προσώπῳ ταῖς ἐκκλησίαις τῆς Ἰουδαίας ταῖς ἐν Χριστῷ

23The only thing they kept hearing was this: "The man who used to persecute us is now proclaiming the faith he once tried to destroy!"

23μόνον δὲ ἀκούοντες ἦσαν ὅτι Ὁ διώκων ἡμᾶς ποτε νῦν εὐαγγελίζεται τὴν πίστιν ἥν ποτε ἐπόρθει

24So they kept glorifying God for what had happened to me.

24καὶ ἐδόξαζον ἐν ἐμοὶ τὸν Θεόν
