I baptize you with water, but He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit. 16 As Jesus was walking beside the Sea of Galilee, He saw Simon and his brother Andrew. They were casting a net into the sea, for they were fishermen. Passing alongside the Sea of Galilee, he saw Simon and Andrew the brother of Simon casting a net into the sea, for they were fishermen. Now as he walked by the sea of Galilee, he saw Simon and Andrew his brother casting a net into the sea: for they were fishers. 17 “Come, follow Me, Jesus said, “and I will make you fishers of men. And Jesus said to them, “Follow me, and I will make you become fishers of men.” And Jesus said unto them, Come ye after me, and I will make you to become fishers of men. And Jesus said to them, “Follow Me, and I will have you become fishers of people.” “Come, follow me,” Jesus said, “and I will send you out to fish for people.”
And at once they left their nets and followed Him. And immediately they left their nets and followed him. And straightway they forsook their nets, and followed him. Immediately they left their nets and followed Him. At once they left their nets and followed him.
Going on a little farther, He saw James son of Zebedee and his brother John. They were in a boat, mending their nets. And going on a little farther, he saw James the son of Zebedee and John his brother, who were in their boat mending the nets. And when he had gone a little further thence, he saw James the son of Zebedee, and John his brother, who also were in the ship mending their nets. And going on a little farther, He saw James the son of Zebedee, and his brother John, who were also in the boat mending the nets. When he had gone a little farther, he saw James son of Zebedee and his brother John in a boat, preparing their nets.
Immediately Jesus called them, and they left their father Zebedee in the boat with the hired men and followed Him. And immediately he called them, and they left their father Zebedee in the boat with the hired servants and followed him. And straightway he called them: and they left their father Zebedee in the ship with the hired servants, and went after him. Immediately He called them; and they left their father Zebedee in the boat with the hired men, and went away to follow Him. Without delay he called them, and they left their father Zebedee in the boat with the hired men and followed him.
Then Jesus and His companions went to Capernaum, and right away Jesus entered the synagogue on the Sabbath and began to teach. And they went into Capernaum, and immediately on the Sabbath he entered the synagogue and was teaching. And they went into Capernaum; and straightway on the sabbath day he entered into the synagogue, and taught. They went into Capernaum; and immediately on the Sabbath Jesus entered the synagogue and began to teach. They went to Capernaum, and when the Sabbath came, Jesus went into the synagogue and began to teach.
The people were astonished at His teaching, because He taught as one who had authority, and not as the scribes. And they were astonished at his teaching, for he taught them as one who had authority, and not as the scribes. And they were astonished at his doctrine: for he taught them as one that had authority, and not as the scribes. And they were amazed at His teaching; for He was teaching them as one having authority, and not as the scribes. The people were amazed at his teaching, because he taught them as one who had authority, not as the teachers of the law.
Suddenly a man with an unclean spirit cried out in the synagogue: And immediately there was in their synagogue a man with an unclean spirit. And he cried out, And there was in their synagogue a man with an unclean spirit; and he cried out, Just then there was a man in their synagogue with an unclean spirit; and he cried out, Just then a man in their synagogue who was possessed by an impure spirit cried out,
“What do You want with us, Jesus of Nazareth? Have You come to destroy us? I know who You are— the Holy One of God! “What have you to do with us, Jesus of Nazareth? Have you come to destroy us? I know who you are—the Holy One of God.” Saying, Let us alone; what have we to do with thee, thou Jesus of Nazareth? art thou come to destroy us? I know thee who thou art, the Holy One of God. saying, “What business do you have with us, Jesus of Nazareth? Have You come to destroy us? I know who You are: the Holy One of God!” “What do you want with us, Jesus of Nazareth? Have you come to destroy us? I know who you are—the Holy One of God!”
But Jesus rebuked the spirit. “Be silent! He said. Come out of him! But Jesus rebuked him, saying, “Be silent, and come out of him!” And Jesus rebuked him, saying, Hold thy peace, and come out of him. And Jesus rebuked him, saying, “Be quiet, and come out of him!” “Be quiet!” said Jesus sternly. “Come out of him!”
At this, the unclean spirit threw the man into convulsions and came out with a loud shriek. And the unclean spirit, convulsing him and crying out with a loud voice, came out of him. And when the unclean spirit had torn him, and cried with a loud voice, he came out of him. After throwing him into convulsions and crying out with a loud voice, the unclean spirit came out of him. The impure spirit shook the man violently and came out of him with a shriek.
All the people were amazed and began to ask one another, “What is this? A new teaching with authority! He commands even the unclean spirits, and they obey Him! And they were all amazed, so that they questioned among themselves, saying, “What is this? A new teaching with authority! He commands even the unclean spirits, and they obey him.” And they were all amazed, insomuch that they questioned among themselves, saying, What thing is this? what new doctrine is this? for with authority commandeth he even the unclean spirits, and they do obey him. And they were all amazed, so they debated among themselves, saying, “What is this? A new teaching with authority! He commands even the unclean spirits, and they obey Him.” The people were all so amazed that they asked each other, “What is this? A new teaching—and with authority! He even gives orders to impure spirits and they obey him.”
And the news about Jesus spread quickly through the whole region of Galilee. And at once his fame spread everywhere throughout all the surrounding region of Galilee. And immediately his fame spread abroad throughout all the region round about Galilee. Immediately the news about Him spread everywhere into all the surrounding region of Galilee. News about him spread quickly over the whole region of Galilee.
As soon as Jesus and His companions had left the synagogue, they went with James and John to the home of Simon and Andrew. As soon as they left the synagogue, they went with James and John to the home of Simon and Andrew.
Simon’s mother-in-law was sick in bed with a fever, and they promptly told Jesus about her. Now Simon’s mother-in-law lay ill with a fever, and immediately they told him about her. But Simon's wife's mother lay sick of a fever, and anon they tell him of her. Now Simon’s mother-in-law was lying sick with a fever; and they immediately spoke to Jesus about her. Simon’s mother-in-law was in bed with a fever, and they immediately told Jesus about her.
So He went to her, took her by the hand, and helped her up. The fever left her, and she began to serve them. And he came and took her by the hand and lifted her up, and the fever left her, and she began to serve them. And he came and took her by the hand, and lifted her up; and immediately the fever left her, and she ministered unto them. And He came to her and raised her up, taking her by the hand, and the fever left her, and she served them. So he went to her, took her hand and helped her up. The fever left her and she began to wait on them.
That evening, after sunset, people brought to Jesus all who were sick and demon-possessed, That evening at sundown they brought to him all who were sick or oppressed by demons. And at even, when the sun did set, they brought unto him all that were diseased, and them that were possessed with devils. Now when evening came, after the sun had set, they began bringing to Him all who were ill and those who were demon-possessed. That evening after sunset the people brought to Jesus all the sick and demon-possessed.
and the whole town gathered at the door. And the whole city was gathered together at the door. And all the city was gathered together at the door. And the whole city had gathered at the door. The whole town gathered at the door,
And He healed many who were ill with various diseases and drove out many demons. But He would not allow the demons to speak, because they knew who He was. And he healed many who were sick with various diseases, and cast out many demons. And he would not permit the demons to speak, because they knew him. And he healed many that were sick of divers diseases, and cast out many devils; and suffered not the devils to speak, because they knew him. And He healed many who were ill with various diseases, and cast out many demons; and He would not permit the demons to speak, because they knew who He was. and Jesus healed many who had various diseases. 35 Early in the morning, while it was still dark, Jesus got up and slipped out to a solitary place to pray. And rising very early in the morning, while it was still dark, he departed and went out to a desolate place, and there he prayed. And in the morning, rising up a great while before day, he went out, and departed into a solitary place, and there prayed. And in the early morning, while it was still dark, Jesus got up, left the house, and went away to a secluded place, and prayed there for a time. Very early in the morning, while it was still dark, Jesus got up, left the house and went off to a solitary place, where he prayed.
Simon and his companions went to look for Him, And Simon and those who were with him searched for him, And Simon and they that were with him followed after him. Simon and his companions eagerly searched for Him; Simon and his companions went to look for him,
and when they found Him, they said, “Everyone is looking for You! and they found him and said to him, “Everyone is looking for you.” And when they had found him, they said unto him, All men seek for thee. and they found Him and said to Him, “Everyone is looking for You.” and when they found him, they exclaimed: “Everyone is looking for you!”
But Jesus answered, “Let us go on to the neighboring towns so I can preach there as well, for that is why I have come. And he said to them, “Let us go on to the next towns, that I may preach there also, for that is why I came out.” And he said unto them, Let us go into the next towns, that I may preach there also: for therefore came I forth. He said to them, “Let’s go somewhere else to the towns nearby, so that I may also preach there; for this is why I came.” Jesus replied, “Let us go somewhere else—to the nearby villages—so I can preach there also. That is why I have come.”
So He went throughout Galilee, preaching in their synagogues and driving out demons. And he went throughout all Galilee, preaching in their synagogues and casting out demons. And he preached in their synagogues throughout all Galilee, and cast out devils. And He went into their synagogues preaching throughout Galilee, and casting out the demons. So he traveled throughout Galilee, preaching in their synagogues and driving out demons.
Then a leper came to Jesus, begging on his knees: “If You are willing, You can make me clean. And a leper came to him, imploring him, and kneeling said to him, “If you will, you can make me clean.” And there came a leper to him, beseeching him, and kneeling down to him, and saying unto him, If thou wilt, thou canst make me clean. And a man with leprosy came to Jesus, imploring Him and kneeling down, and saying to Him, “If You are willing, You can make me clean.” A man with leprosy came to him and begged him on his knees, “If you are willing, you can make me clean.”
Moved with compassion, Jesus reached out His hand and touched the man. “I am willing, He said. “Be clean! Moved with pity, he stretched out his hand and touched him and said to him, “I will; be clean.” And Jesus, moved with compassion, put forth his hand, and touched him, and saith unto him, I will; be thou clean. Moved with compassion, Jesus reached out with His hand and touched him, and said to him, “I am willing; be cleansed.” Jesus was indignant. He reached out his hand and touched the man. “I am willing,” he said. “Be clean!”
And immediately the leprosy left him, and the man was cleansed. And immediately the leprosy left him, and he was made clean. And as soon as he had spoken, immediately the leprosy departed from him, and he was cleansed. And immediately the leprosy left him, and he was cleansed. Immediately the leprosy left him and he was cleansed.
Jesus promptly sent him away with a stern warning: And Jesus sternly charged him and sent him away at once, And he straitly charged him, and forthwith sent him away; And He sternly warned him and immediately sent him away, Jesus sent him away at once with a strong warning:
“See that you don’t tell anyone. But go, show yourself to the priest and present the offering Moses prescribed for your cleansing, as a testimony to them.” and said to him, “See that you say nothing to anyone, but go, show yourself to the priest and offer for your cleansing what Moses commanded, for a proof to them.” And saith unto him, See thou say nothing to any man: but go thy way, shew thyself to the priest, and offer for thy cleansing those things which Moses commanded, for a testimony unto them. and He said to him, “See that you say nothing to anyone; but go, show yourself to the priest and offer for your cleansing what Moses commanded, as a testimony to them.” “See that you don’t tell this to anyone. But go, show yourself to the priest and offer the sacrifices that Moses commanded for your cleansing, as a testimony to them.”
But the man went out and openly began to proclaim and spread the news. Consequently, Jesus could no longer enter a town in plain view, but He stayed out in solitary places. Yet people came to Him from every quarter. But he went out and began to talk freely about it, and to spread the news, so that Jesus could no longer openly enter a town, but was out in desolate places, and people were coming to him from every quarter. But he went out, and began to publish it much, and to blaze abroad the matter, insomuch that Jesus could no more openly enter into the city, but was without in desert places: and they came to him from every quarter. But he went out and began to proclaim it freely and to spread the news around, to such an extent that Jesus could no longer publicly enter a city, but stayed out in unpopulated areas; and they were coming to Him from everywhere. Instead he went out and began to talk freely, spreading the news. As a result, Jesus could no longer enter a town openly but stayed outside in lonely places. Yet the people still came to him from everywhere.
